The building is 145 years old so If you know this when you book you do not expect it to be the same as a modern hotel. I loved the high ceilings, wooden floors and furniture and fittings to match the building. There were ample electrical sockets. You imagine all the people that have passed through this hotel and all the events in history that this hotel has experienced. For me this is not a complaint but there is no swimming pool and where one would be is the outside breakfast restaurant. I am glad they have not put one in, it would spoil the ambiance. There are frangipanni trees that are as old as the hotel. The staff are friendly and helpful but are not too fluent in english so google translate or similar app can be helpful not only in the hotel but else well. To me this adds fun to the discusions. The hotel is central to a lot of tourist attractions, restaurants and shopping malls, some within easy walking distance. Next to the hotel is the Saigon Opera House, my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed a show there. Also the street traffic appears less but still a challenge crossing the streets if you are not use to it. There seems to be more traffic lights in this area but you still need to be vigilant when crossing. My review is as observed as a senior, so overall I had nice stay and have fond memories of our first stay in Ho Chi Minh City.

A beautiful hotel that maintains the charm of a hotel built in the 1880’s - yet has had the important areas renovated (bathrooms, lobby, elevators) without losing the charm. Across the street from the Opera House - a center of activity. Hop-on bus starts here also. Excellent hotel restaurant, I enjoyed each dinner from the terrace overlooking the opera house. Great people watching. Breakfast is in the courtyard under the trees. All in all: perfect hotel in a perfect location.

The Continental Saigon is an older hotel with long history. It was modernized by the owners recently. The structure has the antique flair with its design from high coved ceiling,light fixtures, building design with a noted French style. ( It Matches some of the original old apartments in district one) All before the French but French style. It is walking distance to government buildings and to many top restaurants in District One. Yes there are many othe much newer Hotels near the Saigon River. But the character and mystic are present. Many exciting happenings are going on around the hotel. Some can be seen if you dine or enjoy a drink in the Parisan style outside tables and seating. The Continental Hotel has no pool but the price for sfay is hundreds less than river view newer hotels of familiar brands. Travel is about location to sights and comforts beyond our private homes. The food in restaurant varies from excellent to bad. The staff is very friendly and helpful for things and places to see. If your budget is middle level this hotel serves tourist well.

Historic hotel with much character and a multilingual staff and multicultural clientele in the center of 'old Saigon' Property is aging and could use some updating. My AC smelled a bit of mold or mildew.

Since it was a cheap room, I got a room right behind the air conditioner. It was noisy all day and I couldn't sleep well. The room wasn't very clean, with hairs still lying around, but other than that it was generally good. The location is excellent, so I think I'll spend more on the room next time I stay.

4 day trip to Saigon we decided to stay and this naturist hotel. The location is ideal, central and within walking distance for shops, bars, restaurants, shopping, tour bus etc. The rooms are very spacious with high ceilings. The furniture is of old style, but in good condition. In keeping with the building itself. Wi-Fi worked well throughout the hotel. Breakfast others an big selection of buffet or cooked options, catering for western and Asian taste. The area outside is busy with traffic, but the rooms are surprisingly quiet.

L'hôtel a une situation géographique intéressante. La chambre est grande, elle a besoin de rénover, surtout la salle de bain. Le rideau de la salle de bain se sentais mauvais. The room was excellent. However a bit noisy during the day as it was overlooking the Opera house. Very spacious. A suggestion though is that the bath tub should have a shower curtain as otherwise the floor gets wet. The breakfast setting was idyllic in the central foyer. With the ancient Frangipani trees. Great service!

During our family trip, we stayed at Continental at 3 different times because hotel staff treated us like a family. The manager, Ms. Xương was welcoming and accommodating. She chose the best rooms for our family. Hotel staff from bell boys, concierge, porters, receptionists, waiters/waitresses, room attendants … went beyond duty to make us feel like home. Breakfast was excellent and plentiful with different cuisines, fresh fruits, homemade yogurt, pho, banh mì thịt, congee, cheese, beef stew … (too many to name). Location of the hotel is unbeatable, right next to the Grand Nhà Hát, within walking distance to shopping centers, high end shops, Chợ Bến Thành… Thank you for making our stay memorable.

朝食は中庭でビュッフェスタイルで種類は多くも少なくもなく、フォーとバインミーもありました。部屋は十分過ぎる広さで、バスタブも大きかったです。冷蔵庫もあるのでドリンクを買って冷やすこともできます。二階建てバスオープンバスのチケット売り場と乗り場も目の前で大変便利。たまたま、予約していたレストランとエルメスも徒歩３分圏内！他にも近くに美味しいお店を見つけたのでどこへ行くにも３分圏内でわ大変便利な立地でした。

Excellent hotel stay at district 1, nearby to malls and attraction such as vincom centre, opera house, subway, ben than market and post office. 30mins from airport. Luxury shops nearby. Classic Room spacious and upgrade to 2 bedroom suite for family of 4. Only thing is bath tube too high for elderly to climb in to shower.

Nice colonial area building right smack dap in district 1 of Saigon. The al fresco breakfast with a choice of western and Vietnamese delights provides a great start to the day. Also you get a dragon fruit served to your room everyday, which is a nice touch.

Saigon Tourist is letting these old colonial hotels down. The also run Rex and Majestic, and they all suffer from neglect in some ways. Rex is still the best, then Majestic and Continental is a distant third. We did book the cheapest room, but it was a bit basic ands run down. The biggest disappointment was the breakfast, though. It was very basic and really not that appetising, I’m afraid. I always wanted to try continental and now I have - but I won’t stay again. If you pick one of the those three, Rex is the better choice - or leave the colonial style completely. Equatorial is also a good alternative, but a bit farther out. Else check into Hilton and those ones.
