Nice, spacious room with large en-suite. Freshly decorated and refurbished. Only small issue was a quibble over the breakfast, which had been booked with Hotels.com, but the Hotelier disputed. They honoured it when proof of booking was shown, but it did sour things a little. Otherwise it was a nice Hotel and we would stay again. Limited Hotel Parking, but plenty of free public parking around back.

Great hotel in the town centre. The room was warm and the bed was very comfy. I parked outside the hotel as i had a van. All in it was a very enjoyable stay and i would return again when in the area.

Very good accommodation, choices of bar and lounges, immaculate decor, airy and welcoming, super-friendly staff. I had a very nice single room with a massive ensuite shower room in sparkling condition. Had 2 nights there on my way to and from Stornoway. Super breakfasts to order, and also lucky enough to be there on a Sunday for their really excellent Sunday Roast Carvery. Ryan goes out of his way to ensure everyone has a good experience, and his team are amazing! Will certainly stay again.

Arrived late (following a long day cycling). My bike was placed in a secure garage and locked up for the night👍 I had a curry and a couple of beers and felt like a local. Everyone was super friendly !! Breakfast was fantastic and set me up for the day. I would definitely stay here again.

Newly refurbished, very friendly staff, parking outside and nearby, good food, and not far off the motorway, so has a lot going for it, i have stayed a few times and no issues to date.

The staff was wonderful. The hotel was built in the 1600s, so very rich in history but lacking in modern conveniences. Not accessible for people with mobility issues as there is no lift to the second floor where the guest rooms are located. The food service was good.

Over night stop driving from Aldershot to Orkney Islands. I just wanted a reasonable priced simlple hotel fir one night and the Kings Arms was just that very near the motorway. Nice clean room small but not tired with a good tv. I had BnB and the breakfast was very good too. I did not eat supper in the hotel.

Welcoming and courteous staff The bedrooms and general hotel areas are spotlessly clean and inviting. Full breakfast was lovely and cooked to order. Hotel menu offers a good selection for day and evening dining. Would definitely recommend. We will be back !

The room I was in was very tired with wallpaper peeling off the walls, rusty and limescaled bathroom and extremely stained carpet. Bedding and towels were clean and the room smelled fresh. If the room was in better repair, I have no doubt the cleaners had done a good job I paid £94 for a standard room and would have expected better for £60/70. It is rare that I would write a bad review as I am pretty tolerant but when I asked about moving rooms, I was made to feel like I inconvenienced them and also was not able to move into the "done up" rooms due to them not being dog friendly. I did not eat breakfast here so cannot comment on the food.

Was a beautiful large room. The bathroom was beautiful to.The best room ive ever stayed in.very clean and a good firm bed.The service was poor.couldnt get a drink at the bar when needed one.doesnt seem to have enough staff.not much to offer at breakfast. No one was offered tea or coffee though i think you would get coffee if u asked for it as there was cups on the table.no staff available except for the chef in the kitchen.our dinner was ok but not great.i asked for the bill and was sent to the bar to pay it.No bar tender available so we decided just to pay the bill in the morning. An hour later we were rudely interrupted while making love in bed.it was one of the staff at the door wanting payment for the dinner.i told her i would pay it in the morning. She said no one would be there to take the payment so i had to pay now. She was right.No one was there in the morning except the chef in the kitchen.Its a beautiful hotel .it just needs more staff to run it. The room we had was 5 star.

Very good in-town Victorian hotel. Rooms recently refurbished to a high standard. Google maps tells me this is a two star hotel, but it's much better than that. I'd give it 3 1/2 or even 4. Food is good too with an emphasis on local sourcing. Inevitably, some road noise for rooms to the front.

The room was refurbished well. We were unfortunate with our timing because there was a disco until late and we could not sleep initially. The hotel was busy with the wedding guests and so we could not eat there. Also, we were in the room above the kitchens and the air conditioning units were left on late into the night so we could not open the window due to the noise from them. Perhaps they could be switched off earlier? Bed had no support from springs and mattress needed replacing. Breakfast was a very good cooked scottish breakfast - good quality ingredients. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Decent stay just off M74 on a long drive . Single room was small but cosy and staff were pleasant especially the young girl at breakfast . For the price can’t go wrong

Welcomed by Manager who explained that it had been a festival weekend and had been very busy and had proved too much for the chef who had quit. The evening was staffed by the manager on chef duties and one lady coping with bar and restaurant duties. In spite of this, food was good and service remarkably efficient and friendly.. The following morning, breakfast was cooked and served by the manager who coped cheerfully well. I must congratulate both him and the waitress.

Very friendly, personable staff. Rooms spacious and clean and location was quiet but convenient. Ted the resident dog was lovely and our old dog was made to feel right at home as was out son. Would recommend for families and dog owners.

Slight mix up on checking in, was given the wrong room a single when I had book a double, soon rectified. The room was quite small & very tired looking badly in need on an update. There must have been a gutter leaking as I was woken up by trickling water - The shower was very poor. The breakfast was very good.

we stayed two nights with our dog. Room was ok and the overall experience was ok. The breakfast was decent quality. What was lacking was knowledge and personal care from all the staff. They did not treat us as customers. We had to ask for things and chase up for breakfast order. When we asked questions on the menu like, what is todays soup of the day, the person had to go to find out. If you get a good deal then it is what it is.

Booked at short notice, I phoned and explained I would be arriving on the 22:35 train. Walked around the corner and they welcomed me by name. And the breakfast - amazing!!!!!

We have been kept awake all night by somebody working above room 2. Either that or they are learning how to break dance. Room fine sleep rubbish. Lovely evening meal but indifferent breakfast. Staff were very friendly.
