Uno Thames Hotel

We liked the position of the hotel right by the Thames and near the Promenade for the Windsor boat trip we had booked, also near Jenner's Cafe for a great breakfast. The hotel says continental breakfast available but that's a pack of lies as NO breakfast is available. We were expecting an Executive River View Balcony room but ended up in a side view river view room with no balcony.Also we were looking forward to the Italian restaurant advertised but this had closed down due to new owners, and the only menu available was a limited one which could only be eaten on small tables in the noisy, busy bar with smoke from cigarettes drifting in through the doors open to the terrace. So on both our nights there we had to grab a sandwich from the nearby garage as we have limited mobility and unable to venture out to find somewhere else to eat. One of the reasons we booked was for the Italian Restaurant and either Expedia or the hotel should have informed us that it was closed!! So with no breakfast and no dinner and no balcony room we were very disappointed as we had been looking forward to this weekend away for a nice break as I am 73 and my wife is 68 and we don't get much chance to get away. The staff were very polite and helpful, especially Lilly on Reception and she was very apologetic about the things that were lacking, but unfortunately it couldn't change our disappointment.

Extremely basic accommodations though definitely clean. There is no elevator so plan accordingly.

Nice hotel in a good position overlooking the river. Good bar with terrace. Maybe the whole place could do with a decorative update, but no problem with the double room which was clean and comfortable. Definately would stay again.

The hotel has a very rich history and shows its age. It was under major renovations November, 2024. The staff was awesome and the hotel is very clean. There is no elevator and since the lower level is under construction it requires carrying luggage upstairs. There is a secured parking lot at the hotel.

We used this for a 2 night stay, the hotel is a little faded but has started a refurbishment programme. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, and the bar meals we had were good. The location is good and we could walk along the Thames from the hotel. The hotel was clean and good value.

Arrived to find bar was not doing food despite poster’s suggesting it was. Staff generally uninterested/unhelpful. Door to my room was already propped open. After finding a local restaurant for (expensive) food, came back to room and discovered a large wet patch on carpet by bed. No staff at reception to report. Early next morning loud banging and building work on scaffolding right outside window.

Location by the River is great, But unfortunately hotel let itself down being dirty upstairs and down. Spiders were present in webs in top corner of bedroom, and others cobwebs in other corners

I stayed for a week on business. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Decor and fixtures are dated however, the hotel is currently being refurbished and hopefully these will be improved. The noise from other guest rooms were an issue but if you're looking for a cheap and cheerful hotel you can't really go wrong. Parking was also free with plenty of available spaces

On arrival of the hotel we noticed the restaurant was closed for renovation, only to then find out the entire 1st floor was also under renovation. We stayed in a suite 209/211. The room we stayed in has wallpaper peeling off the walls, carpet was dirty, bathroom has black mould on the tiles all around the shower and the shower curtain was stained and disgusting. A toilet bush was leaning up againt the wall with no cover. Renovation work was on going until 8.30pm, which kept my 5 year old away. We were then woken at 6am by people talking above the room. I understand the building was built in the late 1800s but the siund was as though someone was shouting outside the door. The hotel smelt like a mix of building dust and curry. The two member of staff i spoke to were polite, bedding was clean and the carpark being included in the price are the only positives from this stay over. Photos show the state of the room.

The hotel is dated, worn out, on entry to my room (205) the curtain is half hanging off, linen unclean, hair in the bath, the bed was too small and has seen better days, shower just about worked… Really disappointed as it’s a perfect location

This is not a 3 star property. When you walked in it had a horrible musty smell, carpets not clean. We had booked bed and full English breakfast, but were told breakfast was not included, to be fair when I showed them my confirmation with breakfast they did honour it but was only continental. The room was very outdated and in need of a good clean, the toilet was very stained not a good look, the bathroom door had a been battered and didn’t close properly. The carpet was all frayed, the main light in the room had no ceiling cover and bare wires were exposed. Thankfully the restaurant was closed and the only good thing was that the receptionist gave us good recommendations elsewhere for food.

We had a lovely 2 night stay at The Thames and loved the views of the river and the balcony. The staff were very helpful and the rooms were clean and comfortable. The hotel could maybe do with a little updating but in general was a welcoming place to stay.

Filthy decor in room, TV and heating didn't work, hotel corridors filthy otherwise the room was fine!

Overall fairly run down and needs a refit. Smelly in places. Dusty rooms. Shower doesn’t stay at a consistent temperature.

The hotel is in need of a bit of TLC. Quite dingy and old. There was a bit of a musty smell in the reception area. The bar was very basic, and it looked like there was a smoking area, which i thought is illegal these days. One of the windows in the room did not close properly so the sound of the road was quite loud. The shower was quite weak, and difficult to adjust the temperature. The room was large and we had a view of the river which was lovely. There was an outside seating area from the bar which was very pleasant. We had fish and chips and burger and chips which were very good. Breakfast was excellent. Buffet style with lovely sausages. It was clean, but just very old. The location is lovely.

Booked a very basic room as was at an event nearby and just needed a bed for the night. Room was very basic and dated - curtains were hanging off the rail etc. but it was very clean in the room and bathroom. The big plus was the amazing view of the River Thames so I may well book again if I'm in that area but don't expect frills! And the road was quiet during the night.

Hello, there are two problems that can be blamed on the hotel, firstly, the room was not heated, and secondly, the sound of the water pipe in the upper room came into our room, but our room had a balcony where we could see the beautiful view of the Thames River.I really liked the old style of the hotel and in general I would definitely like to stay there again in the summer.

This hotel is in a beautiful location, and has the potential to be a really nice hotel. However, I'm sorry to say that it is in desperate need of refurbishment, and the plumbing system sorting out (it took ages for the shower to even get Luke warm, and that's as hot as it got). After the very tired looking room I was in two minds to even try breakfast. But I was pleasantly surprised.

The hotel looks nice from outside, on closer inspection does reveals some tired exterior (like others I suppose). Entrance lobby is nice enough & clean & Receptionist was cheery & friendly. I had a twin room & staying for one night, as here for the weekend & just looking for a nice comfortable sleep (which I got). Firstly I should say that this met my purpose. Not too expensive but for the money I have stayed in better. Corridors, room doors & room itself was dated & could do with a refresh/upgrade but generally was clean. Part of curtains hanging off track. Carpets in hotel seemed to have some threadbare bits at tread edges. I did notice some other rooms were having work done so maybe that is happening over time - although was a bit noisy (thin walls) & another guest did complain after 5pm that work was still going on but wasn't for too much longer. Shower not the most powerful but hot enough. Refreshments & toiletries provided & clean towels. Beds comfy enough & were clean, decent mattress. Pillows a little thin for my liking. No air conditioning but we did have a fan provided & it wasn't too noisy. Surrounding area seemed nice enough (next to the Thames). View from room wasn't great but that wasn't what I was there for. Decent enough TV but live channels for some reason didn't work (except ITV ones)...free wifi so was able to use the SMART features to get some TV. All in all it was a decent enough stay & I'd possibly stay again if it got that refresh it needs.

The carpet seemed quite dirty; I didn’t even like walking on it. The bed was falling apart. Definitely wouldn’t recommend and wouldn’t stay there again. The staff were friendly and helpful, and we were given a complimentary continental breakfast due to the issues we had experienced.

A visit back to the 90s. Incredibly dated with a beer soaked carpet aroma throughout. There was no warm water for the shower in the morning. Was woken up at 1am with god knows who coming back and having their tv on too loud... the rooms are so close that you hear everything. The TV was relatively new and decent, and the bedding all clean. Had a peroni in the bar... people sat in silence with no background music, so i was kiterally listening to the old guy at the end of the bar sucking his false teeth around his mouth.

Last minute booking for 1 night. Arrived (at around 7:30pm) and rang the reception bell twice. Then asked the bar staff if someone was available to check us in. Receptionist finally came and was attentive. Room was basic and dated and the spring mattress wasn’t the comfiest, but it was fine for 1 night. The worst part was the noise from the guy next door. There was the sound of an extractor fan all night and we were able to hear his full phone conversation. Not only that, but woken by all 4 of his visits to the loo throughout the night! Was also woken by people in the corridor talking loudly at around 3am, so a pretty disturbed night. The best part was the view of the river in the morning.

This property shouldn't be open. It's a building site. The communal areas are dirty, half of it is closed, the other half should be. It's freezing cold, the staff have no idea and the manager is a liberty taker. DO NOT STAY HERE. We found another hotel to stay in (The Thames Riviera Hotel just down the road - so much nicer) and I am now fighting to get my money refunded for the Uno Thames Hotel. Shocking.

Cheap and cheerful. The service was good, especially as I was greeted by a night porter when I arrived back from my night out at 2am. Room was very dusty, shower was weak, furnishings were dated and bed was basic but view of the Thames was stunning.

Easy, good two-night convenient stay in Taplow nextt to the river!

Fab location next to the river Thames. Really convenient as its well connected to main roads and routes near London, M25 and Heathrow airport.

This hotel is greatly in need of renovation. It feels old and in some areas looks shabby. New owners no doubt intend to transform it. The location is beautiful. Literally across the road is the river at Maidenhead Riverside. It has its own car park and 3 mins drive or 15 mins walk to Boulters Lock restaurant which is well worth a visit.

The hotel is in a perfect spot overlooking the Thames in Taplow. The staff were lovely and although we only had a drink in the bar and 1 overnight stay, they were very chatty and friendly. On entering the hotel it's a bit dated but the room was very spacious and clean. The only issue was the bed! The hardest mattress I've ever not slept on! A real shame as it's very convenient for where my daughter has moved to but wouldn't risk it again.

We stayed 2 nights in a pleasant, clean room. The staff were very helpful. The area opposite the river thames was beautiful with nice walks

very convenient location and good parking facilities, surprised there was no breakfast on offer. would have been nice to have some soap in the bathroom rathe than having to wash my hands with shower gel.

We always use The Thames when visiting Maidenhead. Convenient with free parking and a short stroll into town. Staff are friendly and welcoming. The restaurant is excellent and the breakfast is a must. Would recommend

Its location was central to our needs, the staff were very good, the breakfast and dining room food were great. I'm not saying the hotel is dirty, it was just the overall feel of the hotel being a bit run down, both the rooms I rented showed the same signs of time to be refurbished.

Hotel is old and looking tired. Needs a complete facelift. There was no hot food for breakfast, when I emailed the hotel to inquire about the price and time of breakfast I got no reply from them. Have stayed here a few times now but will not book again.

Spot on for a budget hotel - free parking and a really good breakfast. There are some ongoing improvements which do involve scaffolding at the side and part of the front. Our balcony was full of scaffolding but we managed to sit out for an early morning brew, watching the sunrise across the river. We ate here in the evening and felt that it was good value.

Hotel needs a good spring clean through out Also requires refurbishing Unfortunately the restaurant was closed, we were able to food from the bar, which was poor and mostly uneatable Breakfast, advertised as cooked breakfast was continental style, not appetising Good points was the bedding was clean, although pillows not great Towels were good quality, clean and fluffy, bathroom needed a deep clean
