Holiday Inn Express Red Deer by IHG

Staff were great. Pool area was well kept and my kids had a blast playing on the water slide. Rooms were in nice condition and well kept like you expect from the Holiday Inn brand.

The hotel was nice and in a good location. Hot tub was broken so that was disappointing. We would have stayed somewhere else if we had known that. Otherwise, pool was fun. Staff were great and really friendly.

I would never stay here again! The hot tub has been closed for years! The slide is falling apart and dirty, the railing to get in the pool is broken. Ac was broken, outlets broken and not working in the room, sink would leak from the pipes while brushing teeth ect. Staff were very nice but the standard is so low especially for the price! Stay away and book somewhere else!

The staff member working this day at the front desk was amazing, but all three (yes, I requested three different rooms based on cleanliness) rooms were absolutely disgusting. Bed bug marks were on the beds, as was mascara and foundation on the pillows and giant yellow stains under the pillows. The sheets had holes in them and the final room had a bed bug in it which prompted me to leave and book a new hotel. The hotel advertised having a hot tub but it is not working and has not been for a while.

Hotel is dated , hot tub was covered up, breakfast was good. Didnt come clean room over 2 day stay. Staff were friendly

Great Staff, but Overcrowded and Unsafe Pool Area The best part of our stay was the exceptional staffriendly, attentive, and professional. However, the pool situation significantly impacted our experience. This Holiday Inn is a two-story hotel with a small central pool, which remains open until 10 PM. While this may be convenient for late swimmers, it disrupts guests who prefer a quiet evening or early rest. More concerning was the overcrowding and lack of supervision. At one point, there were 31 people in the pool, far exceeding a manageable capacity. Many children were unsupervised, engaging in unsafe horseplay with no parents in sight. Despite the pool custodian’s efforts, they appeared overwhelmed by the situation. A particularly alarming incident occurred when an older child, roughhousing in the pool, pushed my child into the water. My child’s head struck the metal handrail upon impact, raising serious concerns about safety enforcement. Areas for Improvement: 1. Stricter Pool Supervision – Enforce rules to ensure children are supervised and unsafe behavior is addressed immediately. 2. Earlier Pool Closing Time – Reducing pool hours to 9 PM would allow for a more restful environment for guests. 3. Better Capacity Management – Limiting the number of people in the pool at one time would improve safety and comfort for everyone. With these improvements, the hotel can provide a more enjoyable and secure experience for all guests.

Ran out of eggs & bacon for breakfast by 8:45. Pool was “closed for maintenance” however FULL of people…there was a cover broken off one of the intakes in the pool floor. We were suddenly not allowed in the pool the next morning. Kids very disappointed!

Stayed here before because of convenient location. Long weekend so there were a lot of families and small children. Spacious room but our windows faced pool area so it was noisy during pool hours but ok after it closed. Parking lot is good but spots at back are far to carry luggage. Closer spots to entrances were gone quickly, especially on the weekend. Breakfast had a good selection and staff worked hard to keep the area clean and freshly replenished. Overall a good place especially for families.

Hotel is old, smells of urine, mildew, musty. If i hadnt prepaid, i would have left. Smell made it hard to even sleep. Not what i would have expected from a Holiday Inn.

The pool was quite small - whenever someone went down the slide everyone was splashed and you had to watch, but overall the kids really enjoyed the pool. It looks like there used to be a hot tub in the pool area - would make it better if there still was! Our room was mostly clean and very spacious. It was nice having a bigger room traveling with kids. I found the air fresheners to be a bit over powering. Breakfast was pretty good! Def some ants around but when brought up to the attendant they cleaned them up immediately. Laundry was available - $3 for washer and $3 for dryer. No unscented options available. Would stay again!

Staff was amazing. Rooms are not clean. Not well maintained. Pool is tiny compared to photos. Rooms on the inside of the building are beside the pool which is incredibly loud.

Clean room, comfortable bed. The T.V in the room was quite small compared to other hotels. The pool was grungy and the floor of the pool felt slimy and dirty, the ammenity showed signs of duress and deteriation. The landscaping and grounds maintenence is lacking and needs attention. However the complimentary breakfast was very good, with a great selection of breakfast items. Hotel staff was friendly and helpful...

Stayed in the older part of the hotel; room109. Was outdated ; dirty ,worn out carpet, bathroom caulking dirty. Needs a renovation before it can come close to a 84 rating. Showed pictures to manager and she said she would ensure the housekeeping was improved but house keeping is not the problem, It needs some upgrading.

When we first got to the room we noticed the carpet was damp. I just assumed they had cleaned it but that should have been a red flag. When I returned to the room after the first day the beds had been made but nothing else had been done to clean the room. That night while getting ready for bed the upstairs guest had a long shower, it was really noisy, like a jucuzzi would sound. But I am okay with hotel noises. Until I heard raining. I looked in the bathroom and water was literally raining from the ceiling and one bathroom wall. Like a heavy downpour. I called the front desk and was told probably the guest did not use the shower curtain correctly. Nope, I have been around the block more than a couple times. This was bad. If this was my house, I’d be having severe anxiety. Anyway no more rooms so I had to suck it up. I asked that the upstairs guest curtail their use of the shower and I got out of their asap in the morning. They did give me $20 off. Woo

Came home with bed bug bites from both beds, dining area too crowded

We had a family room which was awesome. The only thing about it we didn't like was the comforters on the bunk bed. They were pilled and rough and very old. We would also like to see some instructions for the air conditioner.

Decent place to stay. Rooms are little darker inside. Comfortable bed.

The room we stayed in was very big and accommodated us and our grandchildren with room to soare.

It is quite strange not having a window to outside but instead looking into the pool and hallway. I constantly had people knocking on my window and my kids kept opening the curtain and crying because they saw the pool and were not able to go swimming. I would recommend this room is turned into a discounted room or give the guest a heads up that they would not get privacy or peace and quiet. When I checked in the staff were very nice however and the room was very clean

The staff is very friendly but the room we got was terrible. The windows looked oit to a brick indoor hallway. The air conditioning was broken and they had a portable one in its place. The venting for the unit was out a window and so we heard all the noise feom the pool area. The carpets were atained and there was brown paper and masking tape covering the broken air conditioner. The hotel was full so we weren't able to change rooms. This room should not be used until it is repaired.

Check in was Fantastic, arrived earlier than I expected but accommodating this was able to check in 😊. Had a Family Emergency and had to leave early but was ALSO accommodated by the staff. Very grateful for the kindness shown by the staff

I was frustrate with a phone call I received from the hotel the evening of my booking. A hotel representative called at 7:00pm to see if I was coming, which I confirmed. She then asked when I was coming? When I told her I was not sure as I was watching my daughter’s sport she pushed further on a time asking if it would been by 9:00. I responded sure, she then asked me where I was, which I told her. She commented okay, well that is not far away. This was very inappropriate and I will not stay here in the future.

All the staffs are very friendly and helpful. My family enjoyed our stay at holiday inn. I highly recommend Holiday Inn IHG Red Deer

Holiday Inn Express on 50 Ave Red Deer is a good location. Across the street is the mall and Moxie’s restaurant is just 3 minutes walk. Suite was very clean and king size bed was comfortable. Good air conditioning too. Filipino attentive receptionists were kind and friendly. Shoutout to Marlon and Jamie for the amazing breakfast. One thing I dislike about was you can hear the conversations from the people walking by my suite. Otherwise it’s a good stay experience.

There was a good variety of breakfast items on the breakfast bar, it was fresh and delicious. Thanks for having hot sauce for my eggs, bacon and sausages.

Check-in was slow. We had to wait in line for awhile. Lots of choice at breakfast with many good offerings. Unfortunately the hot food was cold. The room and bed were comfortable. A/C was quiet and room temperature was adjustable. The room was clean except for the mirror in the bedroom which was very streaky, not cleaned properly.

The breakfast area is right beside the outside door and with it being winter it was a bit cool having breakfast. The pancake machine was out of order :(.
