Southcrest Manor Hotel, Best Western Signature Collection

Very friendly hotel. Receptionist very helpful. Used the gym facilities which were a little out dated but more than fit for purpose. Room was comfy and clean. The only negative is how cold the room was. Heating wasn't sufficient enough to warm the room from the time I turned it on to bedtime which was about 4 hours. Other than that over all it was a good stay. I would ring reception in future to put heating on in the room before I arrive. Would definitely use this hotel again. Food was usual pub grub.

Asked for cancellation due to ill health - denied. They booked 2 rooms on different floors - Asked for same floor - denied Breakfast finished at 9 am whereas timings were 10 am. Igloos were not working, sauna and hot bath tub were closed

The hotel was no lift and the majority of rooms are upstairs. I was told my room 145 was at the top of the first lot of steps but it wasn't...quite a walk and 2 more flights of stairs

Nice quiet room so was the peaceful rest we needed, good tv, amazing big comfy bed. Nice view of the side of the building / trees. Very happy with our stay. Was easy to get in and out of the manor. Enjoyed walking in the woods. Easy to get to kfc and tesco.

This is the second time I've stayed here with work. Have enjoyed both occasions. Staff are friendly and attentive, rooms are clean, comfortable and with decent facilities. Food and drink is good quality and reasonable price. Only criticism would be the car park - can get v busy and some spaces are very tight. Aside from that, lovely hotel and will be staying there again.

Hotel was fine, it had had some freshening up but parts were slightly tired looking. Sauna area was not cleaned thoroughly. Gym exceptionally small, very basic equipment. Hot tub was only accessible at certain times which changed each day. Breakfast was lovely, fresh and good quality. Ordered room service and food was cold on arrival. Asked for room reset each day and this was not done fully I.e. bed not made, tea bags replaced but not milk, fresh towels provided but toiletries not replaced.

The hotel has a lovely garden/grounds an Great facility's all the staff were very helpful an an professional.

The room I had (254) was average. The shower was weak and the spray was intermittent, and there was sign of some limescale/mould between the tiles. I'm not a fan of this. The bed was relatively comfortable but it has had better days. The section of the hotel where the room was and the room itself felt a bit tired. On balance, I would stay again, but I would not stay either in that part of the hotel or that room.

This hotel promises alot from the images shown on the website. In truth following our stay in family room 124. I am left amazed how it has a 4 star rating. Room 124 has issues with shoddy maintenance and poor cleanliness. After folding the sofa bed up to enable more room following a nights sleep a heavily stained and ripped mattress was found. Also electrical sockets were broken and damaged and there was no lock on the bathroom door! Stay here in room 124 if you want a poor experience.

Awful old place. Dust and cobwebs everywhere. Room dirty, dribble from shower.

Would not recommend this place at all felt dirty wasp flying around even in the dining arearooms not cleaned properly dirty towels and what looked like old blood on pillow case

The hotel staff were very friendly & helpful The food in the resteraunt was very good & good service The room was clean but the room carpets & furnishings need to be valeted. The hotel generally need a good spring clean & touch up on the fixtures

I’m sure the hotel was once very grand, but has not been kept up properly. The common areas were nice, but that’s the only positive. Our room was far down a dirty hallway and the room itself was not impressive at all. Carpet looked like it needs to be replaced years ago, the bed and pillows may be the worst we have ever encountered. The chair was black velvet and covered in dirt and hair. We would not recommend this hotel to anyone

Staff were lovely, and helpful. Beautiful patio area. Food was good but a bit pricey. Only downside was my room was very dusty, and the windows really needed cleaning. The chairs needed wiping. Everything was good, other than the cleanliness which is important to me. Coffee on the carpet. Needs a lot of attention

Yes the whole hotel needed a good clean, you could feel the springs coming through the mattress, reception could not be bothered when we checked in didn’t tell us anything. Very neglected hotel

The shower was lacking in pressure and the water was cold when showered in the afternoon. Television didn’t work and stained carpet

The hotel amd grounds are nice, unfortunate the executive room i booked was poor. Its a little run down, the hot water took nearly 10 mins to heat up and the water pressure in the shower was dreadful. More leaked out of the hose than the head. The bar service took an age, they ran out of Guiness, the Worthingtons was flat. When they serviced the room there was no milk or coffee left, when i went to reception i was told they had run out? I mean it's a week before Xmas don't you think you should have stock?

The hotel is lovely from the outside, a great period property with a beautiful tree covered drive way and expansive gardens, however, this is where the impressive nature of the hotel ends I was booked into an executive room, I treated myself to a larger room as I was there for 2 nights. To call this executive’ makes me wonder what the rest of the rooms look like. The room was small, with dated worn furniture, an 80’s bathroom, cracked tiles, missing taps in the shower, and stains round the edge of the bath and toilet. The curtains were hanging off the rail, there’s were stains on the ceiling and room looked like it needed a good paint. This walls the second ‘executive’ room I was offered, and this was the lesser of two evils. For me, if you call a room ‘executive’ you need to have certain standards, one of the is you need to be able to walk up the sides of the bed with out a squeezing past the curtain and the window (think I may have discovered why the curtains are hanging off) The picture the hotel shows you of the rooms are nothing like the actually room. The website shows modern furniture, large padded headboards, usb charring points for phone etc. the reality is trying to plug your phone into the hidden port behind the beside table, which is impossible to move given the space between the bed and the wall….. the spiders webs made the whole experience even more nauseating. Reception were unable to anything for me, other than shrug.

Very good staff and service but no air conditioning

Sadly our last night was spoiled by very loud guests in the adjoining room. The unfortunately we had a room with an adjoining door and we could hear the guests conversations clearly!

We happened to stay during a heatwave. The room had no air conditioning, only a fan. The room was spacious but really needs an update. The corners of the bed and the duvet cover were torn. The wallpaper was also peeling. The bathroom renovation was acceptable. Breakfast was in buffet style but the refills were too slow—there was nothing left to eat and all the juices ran out.

We were very pleased with the checkin staff, who were quick, friendly and very flexible on arrival and afterwards.

Very nice staff, just a shame reception was unstaffed and took 10 mins to find someone!

Had an overnight stay and we’re happy with the hotel. Friendly staff made it!

Awful night’s sleep. Mattress was old and I could feel the springs across the whole bed. Staff seemed unbothered when I told them. No apology and no offer of refund. Ruined my day away as I was so tired.

Hotel was very nice and so were the staff but there seemed to not be enough serving staff so the service wasn’t great.

Arrived at midnight. Room had been left with windows open and lights on. So many bugs! Asked for another room. Was put into a double but there were 3 of us. Eventually given a third room after being asked to wait in the very messy bar area. Was past 1am before we had a room. Breakfast was badly staffed. Had to ask for milk, cutlery, a spoon, plates. No pasteries restocked, no fried eggs or hash browns restocked. After already asking for 4 separate things already, I didn't fancy asking for even more. Should have been nice but obvious there are not anywhere near enough competant staff to provide any level of service.

Staying in the area for a friends birthday party. Great hotel, beautiful garden area - we wish we had more time to explore. Clean tidy rooms and breakfast was great.

Poor breakfast experience. Lots of guests queuing and food not coming out quickly enough. Gave up in the end.

Receptionist was very pleasant as were most of the staff but the hotel requires substantial investment to bring it up to scratch, our superior room was poor and cold on arrival with an upgrade smelling of wet cats. Oscars restaurant was offering good food but service was rather slow and the dress code for the lady servers was rather risqué! Currently would not stay again until I was confident that it had been improved.

The hotel itself was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was disappointing. Cold plates for a cooked breakfast which made everything which was already lukecwarm go cold. Not worth £10.95 a head.

We had Bed and Breakfast and the food was great for breakfast after a very comfortable nights sleep. We also had dinner in the evening in the restaurant which was delicious

The food was superb, best pan fried sole i have ever tased, compliments to the cooks, lovely place ro stay nice grounds and nice a quiet for a relaxed couple break

My stay was ok but my room STANK of cigarette smoke - like the old hotels from days when smoking was allowed. I'm not a smoker and the smell hit me every time I walked in the room. The food was average - breakfast was limited and dinner - £25-30 for a main course - the pork belly was very dry and salty and the lamb shank and trimmings were salty. The service was excellent and I can't fault the staff themselves.
