Es un hotel muy conservado y con historia, la comida del restaurante es deliciosa. La habitación que ocupamos tenía una terraza muy linda con plantas y una fuente, un espacio relajante. El personal fue siempre amable y atento. El precio corresponde al nivel que tiene. El centro queda aproximadamente a 30 min caminando. Solamente me hubiera gustado el gimnasio más equipado, añadiría pesas básicas.

We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Grano de Oro. Thank you to the staff for providing us with a little history of the property, which has been beautifully restored. The location is great - walkable to the National Theater, etc., and we enjoyed the hot tub & gym on the roof level. Even if you don't eat at the restaurant (which has an excellent breakfast), be sure to just tour the beautiful rooms in the restaurant/bar area of the property.

Very helpful and friendly staff. Beautiful grand exterior and very interesting breakfast menu. Everyone we met was extremely polite and kind, which we appreciated after a very long 2 days travelling. thank you! Sadly quite a bit of the hotel was being renovated so we weren’t able to access it but the parts we saw very very nice.

Surprise at check in to get an upgrade to a room with a flower garden patio off the bedroom. Staff very attentive and helped us with our bags from the car to the room. Called the day before to book a massage and was fortunate to get an appointment. The massage therapist was excellent for both myself and my daugher.

Sadly even though there was a better room available they didn’t offer an upgrade, even though we were probably the last people to check in for the night, and there was atleast one nicer room available. The bed and pillows didn’t seem to be of a quality of a hotel that I would rate excellent and the noise from the room above us was very audible. For breakfast we ordered fresh orange juice from the room service and a fruit dish, but the juice was not a fresh pressed juice and the fruit was quite bitter. Overall the staff was nice and the accommodation was clean, I just wouldn’t give it an excellent rating due to the room comforts lacking and the noise factors.

For the price I would expect a much nicer room. It’s clean and bed is comfortable but it’s cramped and dark the restaurant is very good. Next time we’ll just eat here.

Our short stay at the hotel was unforgettable. Our room was absolutely gorgeous! Everything was very clean and the room was stocked with snacks and drinks which we really appreciated after our long journey. We had an amazing dinner at the hotel restaurant. It was so beautiful and romantic and the food was delicious! We will definitely be back if we travel through san jose again!

From the moment you step foot onto the Grano de Oro’s property, you are transported from the ordinary to the extraordinary. The hotel is beautiful inside. The lobby is small but modern-and the rooms are well- appointed and charming. My room with an outdoor terrace was serene and the bed was very comfortable. I never wanted to leave! Additionally, the hotel is immaculately clean. The hotel staff are courteous, efficient and organized. The restaurant is beautiful and the food is varied and delicious. I personally enjoyed the “Tico” breakfast a few times and as I love pasta, the casarecce, was also a big hit with me. The gym and jacuzzi area are easily accessible and a nice addition to the property. Overall, my stay at the Grano de Oro was absolutely top-notch and as much as I would like to keep this stellar property a secret- that would be unfair both to the wonderful folks at the hotel and to you. Stay at the Grano - you will be delighted!

Our stay at the Grano De Oro was one of the most enjoyable stays we have had anywhere. The hotel is beautiful but unpretentious, the staff is amazingly helpful, the restaurant is superb and the room was clean, comfortable and attractive. The room had a little closed in small patio with its own small fountain, allowing in air along with the sound of the fountain. Really a wonderful experience!

The service was exceptional! Staff was very helpful and always available. The property itself is beautiful. There is nothing here that is not worthy of five stars. Kevin at the front desk was extremely helpful. He went Far and Beyond to help us with different questions and needs. We will definitely be back soon!

The property is beautiful. The staff in the reception were very kind on arrival. They helped us to arrange transport from the airport in advance, which was reliable and professional. The driver was on time and was so helpful. However, in preparation for our trip we tried to contact the hotel multiple times to explore possibilities to help us to arrange an excursion to the volcanoes. All of our emails were ignored. We also tried to ask for help and recommendations while there (for local knowledge) and the staff would just tell us to google options. Not very helpful. The bar at the hotel is really beautiful. However, the staff at the bar at night are EXTREMELY rude. They act as if you are making them waste their time even though the price of the drinks is not cheap. Funnily enough the waiters working the breakfast shift were incredible. Make your plans for excursions independently, do not count on the hotel. And either ignore the rude and snobbish waiters or get yourself to one of the many great bars around (Azotea 7 , Apocadero, etc) for better service. But the property is nice and the breakfast was incredible.

The hotel looks beautiful. But all stuff I wish they were more friendly and helpful.. including at the restaurant. I travel a lot and stayed in a lot of hotels so I can compare. Doesn’t help with luggage. Not explain correctly or show where the jacuzzi and gym is.

The hotel is small but beautiful. Loved the vegetation and plants! Beautifully decorated and the staff was extremely nice and made sure we had everything we needed. They arranged our transportation to the airport and recommended a tour agency for booking some tours!

Hôtel avec beaucoup de charme ! Même s'il est un peu excentré du coeur de ville de San José, nous y accédons en 20 minutes de marche ! Le restaurant de l'hôtel est d'une grande qualité ! Nous recommandons vivement ! Le petit déjeuner est servi à la carte et les propositions peuvent être un peu déroutantes !!! Nous n'avons passé qu'une nuit dans cet hôtel et nous n'avons pas eu le temps de profiter de la salle de sport et de la terrasse ... Mais nous sommes globalement satisfaits d'avoir choisi l'hôtel Grano de Oro pour notre dernière nuit au Costa Rica !

We had a 2 night trip in San Jose after “roughing it” for 2 weeks all over Costa Rica. We splurged on this place so we could get some good rest and we did! Also really liked the hot tub. We did not eat in the restaurant (very pricy) but found a wonderful cafe around the corner for breakfast. Would go back.
