An absolute gem just outside of St. Andrews. Only stayed for one night, but what a lovey stay. The gardens are beautiful, I loved walking through them after dinner. The room was well appointed and had homemade short bread. Plus it was so nice and quiet.

The hotel and grounds were beautiful. It’s a short cab trip to the Old Course and downtown. The bar and restaurant were very nice. Moreover, the staff were just wonderful. They couldn’t have been more welcoming. We highly, highly recommend this hotel.

Very nice resort-style hotel away from St. Andrews a bit. Easy access by taxi (not an Uber town). We had a car, but taxi made town and restaurant access easier. Hotel has lovely bar and dining facilities, but St. Andrews is easy to get to as well. We had a woodland suite, which are modern/new rooms a short walk from the main inn.

All the staff very extremely helpful and professional. We stayed in the gatehouse with our dog which was ideal. Our only issues were the works required in the bathroom, there has obviously been a leek at some point the wall paper is coming away and the ceiling is stained, the tiles on the on the shower floor are loose and could cause an injury.

For $505 per night and breakfast - the property is 2x more expensive than it should be, esp with mold in the grout in the shower. Will never stay there again! Dr. McKnight

This was a repeat visit for a special occasion, the hotel has been renovated since Covid and very tastefully done. Room was very comfortable completely new bathroom. Evening dining was very pleasant and a good breakfast, drinks were reasonably priced

Lovely 'country' hotel just on the western outskirts of St Andrews. The gardens looked great but we didn't really investigate as it rained almost incessantly during our two-night stay! Service was always very helpful and friendly - FoH, restaurant, bar - and we had good breakfasts and a lovely dinner. The room was nice but a little 'tired' and our only grumble (which I mentioned when checking out) was that the shower was rather feeble.

Fantastic hotel, great location walking distance from St Andrews. The staff were really attentive and the breakfast was excellent. We stayed in one of the gatehouse rooms which was really spacious, comfortable and quiet.

Lovely experience all around. The property is gorgeous. Our rooms were beautifully decorated, spacious and comfortable. The breakfast scrumptious. There is a cozy bar, perfect for a night cap. While it is a short distance from Andrew’s downtown, totally worth the spacious rooms and lovely gardens.

Such an amazing property, with English charm, amazing staff, great food and the ladies at the front were so accommodating! We felt right at house. We stayed in the mallard cabin family suite and it was so neat!

Hotel was lovely. Warm welcome and gate room was excellent. Bed was massive and comfy. Breakfast was also excellent and the grounds of the hotel were lovely for a post breakfast stroll.

Second time staying at Rufflets and one of my memories of our first stay was the high level of customer care and this has not changed. All the staff were fantastic and made you fell very welcome. The grounds are looking great and the quality of food on offer is nothing short of spectacular.

We came in at 3.30pm and the room was not ready. We also had some trouble with a taxi which has almost resulted in us missing our flight. The receptionist seems to have forgotten to book our taxi which we had agreed upon the night before. Since we were leaving for the airport at 5am, there was little chance to find a cab in a small town like this. Luckily, the situation was salvaged by a night person. To finalize our experience, we got charged 92GBP for some imaginary drinks at the bar which we never had. Other than that, the hotel was cozy and cute.

When I arrived at 8pm there was no one at front desk, also the front desk was a table. I had to get the restaurant/bar staff to check me in after hitting the bell twice over 5-10mins. The hotel feels family run and has charm, however the service received was not great, It seems like they were short-staffed. Great breakfast to choose from and the room was comfortable.

We visited to attend a wedding. Although we were advised the room may not be ready for us before the ceremony, the hotel stated they would do their best to allow us entry. On arrival we were told fairly gruffly it wasn’t ready and would get in after the ceremony. We could use the public toilets if needed. The woman on main reception was not particularly friendly! Had been asked on our booking form if it was a special occasion for us, which it was, so filled that out with details. The unfriendly receptionist said “oh I believe it’s your anniversary” and that was it. So am unsure why the hotel had asked 😂. After the ceremony it took a while standing at main reception before I got the key as the staff were too busy. The grounds are lovely but some of the gardens further from the main house are a little untidy. Room comfortable and very clean, no concerns there. Breakfast was great and staff in the morning were absolutely lovely. It was not a cheap option to stay here and I’d hoped for a better welcome to be honest, was a bit off putting. The Sunday morning staff were much nicer!

Overall an enjoyable stay but badly let down in two areas. We waited 15 minutes to be served in the bar, yes there was a small wedding party but this should not be to the detriment of other guests. Had we even received a comment of " sorry for your wait" this would have gone ablong way but there was nothing. The breakfast was im afaaid to say not up to the required standard. It was stone cold. The only thing on the plate warm was the frued egg. I feel this was partially down to only having one girl serving 10 tables, dhe was very very pleasant but cannot keep on top if a servuce like that on her own. Sorry to say this really marred our enjoyment.

The most charming hidden gem we were blessed to encounter. Everything we needed was there so there was no reason to leave, all the while being surrounded by a peaceful atmosphere. The layout of the cabin was perfect, clean, not cluttered at all. Loved it. The “fine dining” experience was nice for presentation purpose, but was way over priced and left us still hungry. Thankfully the 24 hour bar had a great menu that was much more to offer.

Peaceful lovely estate with beautiful gardens. Fabulous breakfast and dinner. However the ambience at dinner could be improved. The lights were extremely bright and it ruined the mood, which was unfortunate because the food was excellent.

A great place to stay. Check in was delightful, room was warm and cozy, hot shower and comfy bed. We ate dinner in the main restaurant, the food was outstanding. Great flavours and presentation. Whisky, scrabble and a roaring fire in the bar afterwards. Breakfast was good and a quick visit to the hens before departing.
