A very spacious room with everything we needed. You can walk a minute to the lakeside with stunning views. Very good facilities with a heated pool just outside the door. The welcoming email gave a lot of useful information on the area. I would stay here again and highly recommend.

We booked last minute through the Expedia app. The staff were extremely accommodating when we notified then of our late arrival and made arrangements for access after reception had closed. When we arrived the heating was on, which was great because it got to - 3°C that night. In the morning we discovered it was only a dozen steps down to the beach from our patio. And of course great that the place is pet friendly!

Good stay for price. Hot tube was unfortunately not very warm so did not use. Shower was dark as limited lighting in shower itself but otherwise good. Comfy bed and kitchen was of good use

Not so good. Staff was slow to attend the office. The room wasn't the one I'd reserved and had no view of the lake. The two outdoor pools were only tepid. Room decor needs replacements and the main light was falling to bits and dangling by it's electrical cord!

The property isn't the most modern in the area but everything else about it is excellent. Great value for money, excellent area and a friendly boat club/bar/pizzeria just down the road. Why pay double the price. Room was clean, good facilities and a small pool and spa at the rear.

Mixed reviews for this place but would not stay here again The good: The place itself was large and spaced perfectly for a small family ( 2 adults 2kids). Love the idea of having the upstairs for the kids with two single beds. Hot water, cold AC, microwave, fridge, heated pool ( we did not use) and 2 min walk to the beach/lake and close to a bar/restaurant. Plenty of tea, hot chocolate and coffee. The Bad: in desperate need of a cleaning. I can forgive the bugs: which were plenty. What I can’t forgive is the dirty bedding full of hair, stains and what I’m assuming buggers. The walls are so dirty and paint chipping, the floors - carpet dirty. The side tables covered in dust.

Needs an update in the unit we stayed in - black faux leather chairs are all flaky and tired looking. Very dark - needs better natural lighting. The general cleanliness was ok but the carpet in the bed/living area downstairs smells of sweaty feet - it’s in desperate need of a thorough steam clean. We had to ask for extra bowls and plates as there weren’t enough in the kitchenette for our family of 5. I think they try hard to provide an good, affordable service which they do but the above I’ve mentioned needs to be improved.

Stayed here for one night. Staff very friendly and helpful and location is great. It is right on the water and easy to get to. Unfortunately our room was not very clean with the ceiling fan holding about an inch of dust on each arm and most surfaces were very dusty and grimy as well. There were a few insects inside including some white tip spiders. The interior is very dated with decor probably older than myself including the bed which was very hard and uncomfortable. Again for location and access to the water this place is good but will probably stay elsewhere next time.

Much of what you see of outside property photos in the listing is misleading, only a few rooms will have a view of the lake. The building is also dated and showing its age. Could very distinctly hear the people in the upstairs room talking and walking around. Air conditioning in living room smelled like old sweat making it unusable (room 15). No fan in the bathroom. Room is in public view of the staircase and pool areas so all curtains needed to be shut including in the bathroom at all times for privacy.

Room 21 is spacious with a high ceiling - view is limited - one side of the mattress was very tired, but the other side was okay - bathroom spacious and very clean - shower curtain instead of door (always a challenge)

My wife and I along with our 5 year old grandson stayed there for two nights. Excellent location with direct access from the room to the lake path. We had a water leak in the bathroom on our second day, which the owner sorted out quickly. The owner gave our grandson a goodie bag and gave us a bottle of wine for the inconvenience. Some parts of the property are in need of renovation, but the new owners are busily working through the renovations. Great location and friendly owners and staff.

The hosts were extremely friendly and welcoming. The accommodation was spacious and spotless. Location was excellent. One small nice touch was the little container of fresh milk offered for our hot drinks. Able to have a dip in the lake a few yards away Very good value and would definitely stay there again

Beautiful location on the southern side of the lake. The lake walkway is on the edge of the oroperty with two easy access routes. Room was large and clean. Staff was very nice. I definitely recommend this property.

OUR SHORT STAY OVER HERE WAS GOOD, AS WE WANTED A QUICK STOP OVER BETWEEN AUCKLAND & WELLINGTON, PLACE WAS VERY CONVENIENTLY LOCATED AS IT WAS CLOSE TO SPA AND RESTAURANT FACILITIES - BOTH WITHIN 5 MINS DRIVE. This was a great motel to stay with our small dog as they have a few pet friendly units. The owners are so helpful and friendly and the units cleaned to a high standard. The units are a little older. They upgraded us to have a small courtyard which we appreciated as we were able to keep our bikes secure there. They are situated on the lakeside at 2 mile bay right beside the bike and walking trail. We found this to be an ideal location. The sailing club is 5 minutes walk away and a great place to get a drink and pizza. They are also dog friendly. We'd definitely highly recommend the Cascades Lakefront motels
