We were very disappointed with this property. The room was not serviced properly. The shower had all the paint of the floor lifting showing dirty grout. The carpets need a clean. Had to ask for the amenities to be restocked when taking a dirty towel back to reception. The pool area looks as if it has been abandoned - weeds growing up in the paving cracks and the pool looked very dirty. The photos on the website paint a very different picture to the reality!! It really needs a good over hall. On the positive, the lady who was on reception in the evenings was very helpful. We certainly expected a lot more from a Rydges, which is (was) one of my preferred hotels to stay.

check in was easy and simple, parking everywhere, there was a busted pipe in the undercover parking but, no one can prevent everything. the rooms were pretty nice but had flaws like the soap holder in the shower was broken and glue was used so no one cut themselves on the tile. breakfast was absolutely beautiful, they really made a lot of effort to present this, well worth it in the morning.

the bed was so comfortable. The staff did not know when the kitchen opened at the two dining options for dinner. They also did not provide me with a document I apparently needed to give the shamrock to book to the room. I am guessing the dining room was not open due to lack of staff? Rydges on Palmer is one of my favourite hotels in Townsville. I choose hotels based on a few elements and if I love everything then I will return time and time again. The front facade of the property includes a beautiful foundation. My room was spacious and generous. I think Rydges has the best bath in a Tsv hotel and is so relaxing, tick. They also have their own restaurant for breakfast, a hot buffet, tick Rydges has a lovely pool with spa that I enjoyed on this trip too. if you don't have a car and go for appointments in Tsv like me I catch the shuttle from the airport and there are several food venues in Palmer Street to choose from too all in easy walking distance. The digs are very clean and well made up and staff is polite and friendly, tick.

The Rydges is a central spot if you’re in town to watch the football. Easy walking distance to stadium, town and plenty of restaurants & pubs. The rooms are slightly dated however the mattress is a true king size and the most comfortable we’ve slept on. Good view from The 5th floor on the Marina side overlooking the pool. Air conditioning was not that great for an extremely hot weekend and we could not get it lower than 22deg. Could not work out how to use the remote control for the TV which was a good size so gave up trying. The pool could do with some more seating and a general tidy/ revamp but nice and big area. Did not dine in this time but have had the breakfast previously and very basic. Decent coffee was charged extra so only percolated included.

We were happy (mostly) with the hotel, but the room required a thorough clean and the air conditioning was so noisy it made getting to sleep quite difficult. Breakfast was good with friendly service. Checkin was quick and easy.

Tv and internet was slow and not working properly. Air-conditioning was permanently set on 20 but the room never went below 25 degrees which made for a very hot and restless night. Tv in bedroom was tiny Bathroom was beautiful though with amazing water pressure.

Rooms are very dated and in poor condition. Bathroom tiles were missing and floor got wet every time we had a shower and became dangerous. Air conditioner was old and noisy. Had to turn it off to be able to sleep. Would be very hot in summer.

Booked purely due to the comfort of the bedding. Otherwise the rooms are very dated. Bathrooms are old, small and need modernising. Location is great for walk to stadium and into town for dining. Air conditioning didn’t seem to work consistently and windows to open for a breeze. Disappointing for the price.

We stayed for a week as part of TeamUSA and then went to Cairns for a week and then came back for a night. While we were in Cairns, they held onto our larger luggage in storage and when we got back, we asked if they had a scale to weigh our re-packed luggage. The front desk person got her scale from her home on her break and brought it back for us to use! Amazing customer service!

This hotel is in a great location, within walking distance to the Qld Country Bank Stadium, restaurants & also Flinders St. The staff were lovely, the room had everything we needed & the bed was comfy. Would definitely stay here again.

Gutes Hotel in super Lage in Southbanks. Diverse Restaurants, Bsrs, etc. sind in unmittelbarer Nähe oder nur einen sehr kurzen Fußweg entfernt. Parkmöglichkeit ausreichend vorhanden. Frühstück ist gut. Kaffee kostet leider extra. Zimmergröße (Doppelzimmer) selbst für 4 Personen noch ausreichend.

The Rydges is a central spot if you’re in town to watch the football. Easy walking distance to stadium, town and plenty of restaurants & pubs. The rooms are slightly dated however the mattress is a true king size and the most comfortable we’ve slept on. Good view from The 5th floor on the Marina side overlooking the pool. Air conditioning was not that great for an extremely hot weekend and we could not get it lower than 22deg. Could not work out how to use the remote control for the TV which was a good size so gave up trying. The pool could do with some more seating and a general tidy/ revamp but nice and big area. Did not dine in this time but have had the breakfast previously and very basic. Decent coffee was charged extra so only percolated included.

The staff was fantastic and there was ease in checking in and out! the breakfast was excellent- so many choices and the standard was high- wonderful sour dough bread - and the manager in charge of the elections is to be congratulated - good value for the very reasonable tarrif

check in was easy and simple, parking everywhere, there was a busted pipe in the undercover parking but, no one can prevent everything. the rooms were pretty nice but had flaws like the soap holder in the shower was broken and glue was used so no one cut themselves on the tile. breakfast was absolutely beautiful, they really made a lot of effort to present this, well worth it in the morning.

We wanted to have breakfast at the buffet. There was plenty of variety but a little lacking. Bacon over cooked and tough and everything cold. I am a barrister and can't understand why a decent coffee can't be included in the cost. I know the time and cost it takes to make one. Would definitely be a bonus.

The biggest pro for staying at the Rydges is the comfortable full king size mattresses and the vicinity to the stadium and the main reason I rebook. Always a good night sleep. However, the cons are really starting to blur the choice. Firstly, the bathrooms are tiny, very out dated, hot water and shower pressure were almost zero. Had no cold water on at all to only have a warm shower. And you have to fight with a shower curtain trying to now to flood the floor when you turn around. The room we stayed in had a massive window with only a pull down roller blind which was a bright awakening way too early. There are curtain tracks but none hanging. Don’t even waste your money or time on the breakfast buffet. It is bland, luke warm and not appealing at all. If the bathrooms were renovated it would be a massive improvement. Our room was on the 2nd floor and a Deluxe King “apparently”. Street noise both people walking past talking and traffic was like I had a window open. Higher floors are much better for sound so if you book try and request. Reception staff range from amazingly helpful to obviously would rather be elsewhere. Plenty of places stay in area so will be booking elsewhere from now on.

These people charge a credit card surcharge on top of their quoted price through a booing agent, be wary of that. Had to call reception at 2.30pm and ask to have our room serviced on the final day. No restaurant or bar other than for breakfast. Had to open the gate to get out this morning at 4.45am as the carpark was all locked up. Other than that, the room was fine and the bed very comfy.
