This is our second stay at Oaks Townsville and we enjoyed it immensely. On both occasions, the front desk staff have been extremely friendly and welcoming, and on both occasions we have received room upgrades which we really appreciated. Our one-bedroom was beautiful - freshly renovated and decorated and had a lovely big balcony. The infinite pool was so inviting after a day of hot weather, and has a great outlook on the river. The public areas of the building could do with a bit of sprucing up (eg fresh paint in the corridors), and I am unsure whether we were supposed to receive full housekeeping in our apartment as our bins were emptied but our bed wasn't made and our towels weren't changed, but the public areas and outdoor area were very clean and tidy. We also appreciate the on-site car parking and the location, which is so close to bars and restaurants, and the stadium.

Staff were lovely. One bedroom apartment was comfortable, well-laid out with well-equipped kitchen, washing machine in the spacious bathroom and king-sized bed. Pool area nice. Quiet and very well-located, very close walking distance to restaurants, pubs, stadium etc.

We chose the Oaks as we had stayed there many years ago and we knew there would be bars and restaurants very close to the accommodation. The property has aged and needs a good renovation. Check in was brilliant and efficient, they also called earlier in the day to confirm the bedding configuration that I had requested but didn't end up needing. The unit could do with a good clean. The bathroom had mold in the grout and when I tried to clean it off with the washer most came off so I don't think the cleaners had even tried, there must have been something they cleaned with on the shower floor as myself in the ensuite and my son in the 2nd bathroom almost slipped when we stepped in for our showers. The skirting boards need dusting as does the window sills. There were lights that the bulbs needed changing, blinds that were worn and starting to get holes in them, the bed and pillows weren't too bad as it will never be like home. The kitchen tap dripped and the uht milk was in date but was bloated so I wasn't game to drink it. Parking was included so that was a plus for the accommodation as well. We didn't venture anywhere else in Townsville as we were just passing through but the location is great for a quick stop with the bars and food so conveniently close.

Room was dirty and in need of a complete overhaul. Kitchen cupboards were broken and just placed closed. When opened the whole door fell off. Ac was smashed. Rubbish left behind in the room. Extra blanket was visibly soiled and had debris fly off it when we retrieved it. What appeared to be someone’s foot skin was on the couch and coffee table. Bathroom smelt like sewerage overnight. And the soap dispensers had dust and were dirty. Toilet roll holder coming off the wall and patched up holes in walls no sanding or painting done. I didn’t notice right away but the more I looked the more broken or dirty things I found. If I had not been so tired when we arrived I would have just left again. Beds were terribly uncomfortable. I reported to reception and all I received was sorry about that I will let someone know. Did not take down any details of what I had reported, acted very uninterested. I would not stay again. The location is great however. It is a little noisy due to the main road but that is to be expected. If they updated the rooms it was be a fantastic place to stay.

Central and convenient, but extremely over priced for a 4 day stay and what we got. Noise from main road is extremely loud, need to keep sliding door closed during peak traffic periods to hear each other. The location is good and right next to cafes, dining, bars etc, surprisingly noise level from patrons and pedestrians for being so central is extremely low. Parking is secure and plenty. Bed was comfy….but base of bed had a lot stains , either from vomit, drinks or ehmm mmm, bathroom had hair all over and floor was not clean, toilet leaks, 1 toilet roll is not enough for a 4 day stay, last thing you want to do when taking a squat is head to reception for toilet paper, house keeping made bed that’s it. Carpet was dirty and had stains. It wasn’t the cleanest of rooms or hotel, the only plus was convenient location and secure parking.

Oaks is in a great spot, close to the new NRL stadium, city centre, restaurants and bars. Our room was really tired and could use an update. The room didn't have a nice smell when you walked in, the carpets have ripples in it and had come away from the joins at the kitchen and balcony doors. The air conditioner was leaking water everywhere, but they did get that fixed the following day. we had a room on the main road side and the noise was very loud, not just from traffic but from people yelling and screaming until the early hours of the morning. I'd request a room on the other side of the building. All in all it was ok, but needs a bit of money spent on it.

Bit annoyed at the guests next door playing music and partying half the night until we put in a complaint. There should be zero tollerence to this behaviour to deter people from having to ring reception and complain. No warning kick straight out. OK for the price.

I have stayed at the Oaks Gateway Townsville several times before and have always been impressed with the standard of service, quality of accommodation and location. This was my first time in a studio apartment and I was not disappointed. The room was spacious, in very good condition and had a fabulous outlook. Customer service is always a priority and nothing is too much trouble for Steven and Jamie on Reception. There are numerous dining options on Palmer Street and getting into the City Centre is a short and pleasant walk. I don't stay anywhere else when visiting Townsville.
