We stayed at El Portal for our mini-moon after we eloped and had a fabulous visit. The staff was kind and helpful, and our room was cozy and romantic. Having the ability to use the hot tub & pool at the resort next door was an added bonus, and this little inn is within walking distance of the Tlaquepaque shopping village. We enjoyed wonderful meals at Rene & The Secret Garden Cafe. Book a room at El Portal, you won't regret it!

This place is perfect, just book it. Quiet but right next to big shopping and dining area. Comfortable they thought of everything, even chapstick. Free and good snacks available all the time. Lovely courtyard with evening fire pit. I'd go back in a heartbeat.

The Hotel grounds and surrounding area are rustic yet modern and very inviting, relaxing and welcoming. We enjoyed an evening in the courtyard with other guests by the fire pit, while enjoying an adult beverage. Host’ are refreshingly pleasant and provided very helpful information about the area. Access to adjacent facilities was a pleasant surprise and enjoyed the pool area. Looking forward to our return in the future!

Love the rustic feel intamite feel of the property. The staff is so friendly. She walked us to our room showed us how to use the fireplace, jazzcuzi tube and TV. There are complimentary snacks and drinks in the lobby. The property is super pet friendly, they even have pet baskets, that have hotel suppplies for the dogs.

Great place to stay, historically designed architecture and interior furnishings. Would definitely stay at the El Portal again. Small inn that has guest access to the resort next door pool and spa which we took advantage of.

The property has "good bones" with adobe and beautiful wood beams, but the decor is shabby, tired, and cluttered. Most light fixtures were very dim, with mismatched bulbs. Lots of paintings of nude women around. There were advertisements about a wonderful breakfast, or at least a continental breakfast, but it was a nook full of mostly junk food, pop, yogurts, booze, and some pastries set out each morning. It looks like the hosts are struggling to keep up the place. It is VERY pet friendly. There is NO pool and hot tub--you pay a fee and get to walk next door and use theirs--and you HAVE to pay even if you don\'t want to use it! BTW--The resort next door with the pool and hot tub was AMAZING!

This little hotel is so charming! The room is very vintage and rustic, with every piece of furniture carefully chosen, completely different from the vibe of chain hotels. The bed sheets are silky smooth and comfortable, and there’s even a fireplace in the room. Every evening, there’s a bonfire in the small courtyard where you can sit around with friends to roast marshmallows. This is definitely an unforgettable lodging experience.

This was, by far one of our favorite hotels we have ever stayed in. There was a slight snafu with check in (Expedia’s issue). But after that it was smooth sailing. The location, the room with its stunning design and furnishings, the amenities…shall I go on? Our host was friendly and accommodating. We didn’t want to leave the room!

This property is perfect. It’s a unique boutique hotel that’s a stone's throw from Tlaquepaque. We stayed in the Hile Room (#6). It was beautiful with a private courtyard with a firepit, a fireplace in the suite, and a spa bathtub. The lobby and overall grounds were relaxing and eclectic. We will definitely return!

El Portal was prettier than the pics and the check in process was made simple with friendly lady at the front desk kindly welcoming us and walking us to our room informing us of all the hotel had to offer. The historic hotel is in a prime location with easy parking and a close walk to restaurants and shops.

I loved the property - it felt like staying at a beautiful hacienda, much like the Ponderosa on Bonanza. The complementary snacks were over the top. Loved the courtyard and all the little touches that mean so much - like spending time at a friend’s. The staff was superlative, and so friendly and helpful. My husband dropped his wedding ring down the shower drain, and they called in their handyman to try and retrieve it. And he did! Love El Portal - thanks for a great visit!

First time staying here and I was in complete awe. Overall the place was amazing from the friendly staff to the complimentary items for the guest. My now finace broke into tears when she saw the green room. It was a magical place that is a definite must stay. We will be back.

The location was perfect. It is right in the middle of everything, but set back so it feels quiet and serene. Steve and are always around - Rey accessible and very helpful. The rooms are lovely. It is so unpretentious. The only quibble I have is breakfast. This an inn with a lot of hikers and outdoor people, yet there are really no healthy options other than yoghurt. Berries or whole wheat bread we be nice. Otherwise it’s lovely. The outdoor space is very welcoming. Breakfast is outside. There is afirepit at night. We loved it.

What wasn’t unique about this property?!! This was a peaceful retreat filled with art , eclectic decor, privacy,comfort , and everything you might need for a Sedona vacation, with none of the pretentiousness of a large resort . The nicest owners and staff, and a juniper fire pit burning every night on the peaceful garden patio. not a single complaint. Loved having coffee , wine , snacks and drinks available- we had all we needed for our hikes and outings .We were given many great tips with a personal touch . Highly recommend this true gem.
