Hotel McCoy Tucson - Art, Coffee, Beer, Wine, Pool

This is a super cute motel that’s easy to access off the freeway. The room was clean and comfortable. We were pulling a small trailer and they don’t really have any room for vehicles like that, so that was a little frustrating and tricky. Breakfast is oatmeal (granted with a lot of toppings) and toast, so a little sparse but okay. Did appreciate that dogs stay without an extra fee.

This motor court is SUPER COOL and really perfection for me. All the amenities. Fridge. Pool. Ice. Coffee. A welcome beer. Delightful room decor with great little touches. Comfy bed. Plenty of parking. I wanted to stay longer.

The staff was very friendly and the property was very clean and decorated with a fun vintage vibe. The bed was very comfortable. The downside, the pool was closed during my stay with the staff saying it would be open the following day, every day they would say the same thing. There is a free breakfast with very limited choices. If you like oatmeal and poptarts you will be happy. There is no restaruant per say, but they offer tamalies and grilled cheese sandwiches. The grilled cheese was not avaiable during my stay because they did not have any butter. They never replaced the butter so the grilled cheese was not available during my time there. In their advertisement they boast about the grilled cheese. It seemed like that would have been an easy fix. I and other guests were very dissapointed about the pool. They did notify us prior to arriving via text that the pool was being fixed and would be available the next day. Sadly, I was flying when they sent the message and that left me no time to find another place. My feeling was that they should have offered some kind of discount to their guests because of the lack of amenity. They have a cute bar, that offers wine and beer and your first drink is free which is limited to the house wine or draft beer. That was nice. All in all it was a nice, kitchy place to stay but a little disorganized. If you are booking I would ask about the pool. It seemed they wernt sure what the actual problem was.

Clean room, quirky, artwork everywhere, gorgeous outdoor pool and areas. Pinball machines and arcade. Friendly staff!

The property has a vintage look and feel with unique one of a kind art everywhere you look. When you drive through the archway, you go back in time. Every wall has local artists' work. The check in office, bar, gym, gaming area, pool, and each room are all filled with one of a kind art pieces. It seems to be a storage facility converted and renovated to be a hotel. The bar offers a wide range of beers, wines and kambutcha. They have tamales and grilled cheese as well as some snacks available. Their gym is small but has free weights and 4 machines, including a treadmill. Their gaming area has 4 vintage arcade games. The room was comfortable and had a kitchenette in it stocked with pots, pans, and all kinds of utensils. Despite this, I would say this isnt a stay in your room hotel. With the bar, outside sitting area and pool, you are meant to explore the property, enjoy a drink, and take in all the art around you. I have been meaning to stay here for some time, but as I am generally in town for business I have not had the chance. I am glad I made the trek from my office to stay here. That being said this is not your typical hotel. The floors are not tile or carpet give it an industrial feel. They do have area rugs under the beds. They have eco-friendly lotion, shampoo, and conditioner dispensers. The staff is friendly and helpful. The down side for my trip was the wifi in the room I was in was poor. When sitting in in the bar or outside area, the wifi was fine.

The property was fun, the staff was great. Unfortunately, the floors were terribly dirty. I noticed my feet were black right after my shower. Used the towels to dry up shower drippings and the towels were as black as my feet!

Cute place. I normally wear slippers in all motel rooms. I forgot my slippers and my feet were black! You can’t see dirt on tile floors but that was a disappointment

This motel has a lot of character, lots of opportunities for guests to interact. But if you just want a good night’s sleep this is not the place for you. The bed wasn’t very comfortable, too much light in the room, sirens from ambulances can be heard throughout the night (nothing the hotel can do about this). The towels and tub in the bathroom looked stained, there was a hair in the bathtub, and someone’s leftover drink was in the refrigerator. The next morning the housekeeper tried to enter my room as I was just getting out of the shower. Fortunately I had the latch on, or she would have gotten an eyefull. The hotel gave me a credit for this inconvenience, but housekeeping here needs a lot of improvement.

Booked last minute and was concerned when we turned up as it didn’t look great on first impressions. Totally wrong as it was fantastic and very quirky with input from local artists. Room was spotlessly clean and beds very comfortable. Great bathroom with proper toiletries and fantastic shower. A/C cooled the room effectively so had a good sleep. Definitely worth staying next time visiting family in the area. Only one thing could be improved is the curtains but that’s a personal opinion.

This hotel was adorable and I’m sad I didn’t have more time to enjoy it. I arrived late and left early but I’ll definitely be back! Loved the decor and the front desk staff was wonderful. Floors could use a little swiffering but other than that, everything was great.

Sheets were dirty. bed was not a queen - horrible lighting, dirty tub, concrete gross floor, dirty area rug, amenities unusable, door didn't fit the frame, crazy restrictions/rules (like 9 pm closing), felt like a tiny prison cell, dark, unwelcoming, no food options, can't smoke outside, people walking by the room and looking in the window, sketchy area, the "bar" is a small farm size table with 4 warm beers on tap, the "games" are in a fenced area across 2 parking lots that have zero shade and are completely dilapitated. It is dirty. There is no lounge area with like a tv or ice machine, a car pulled in to the stall in front of our door and crashed into the big concrete pillar. We left and found a new hotel. No rugs in the bathroom so it is just a grey concrete dirty floor. The room lighting was a broken floor lamp without a shade leaning against the wall. There were no towels in the bathroom and the hand air dryer was broken. Asked for a refund since we were not going to stay after seeing the place and told we couldn't get a refund because had already been charged and had booked on expedia.

Everything about this place was so cool and the services offered are so thoughtful! We loved the design when qe saw it online, but it's so much better in person. We got drink tokens and breakfast for FREE and the rooms were pretty quiet. Large fridge and cool murals and lighting inside. The amenities are many! The only thing that prevents me from giving a 5 🌟 was the bathroom. When we arrived, there was hair in the tub and a used washcloth with hair on it in the shower. Not a huge deal considering, but it was just real gross. Would give it another chance for sure.

The staff were ok but the hotel & the rooms are run down & scruffy. The bedding & towels in the room were clean but the floor & areas around it were dirty.

We didn't eat breakfast there as we had an early flight, but the staff were lovely and it was incredibly clean!

This place was a true hidden gem. We loved everything. Only constructive criticism would be the bit of dirt that came up from the floor when I spilled my water. Wouldn’t have known otherwise. 😉

It’s an average motel for staying overnight when you passing through town. The AC unit in the room is very loud and the walls are very thin. Receptionist is very friendly and helpful.

The entire hotel is renovated with nice furniture, new paint all over walls and rooms are clean with new bedding and new bathroom fixtures, clean or new towels.

The room was cozy and the beds were extremely comfortable. I have never felt more relaxed at a hotel. Having chairs and table outside our door was an added touch.

This was our second stay at Hotel McCoy. We Really like the property and the staff is super nice. However the room we stayed in was super hot. The room air conditioner did not seem to be working properly. We informed the front desk staff.

What a noisy room! (neighbors, road, cooling)

My stay was very UNcomfortable. It was the temperature in my room that made it a bad stay. I stayed In June 2025 it was extremely hot, outside and inside the room. 2 hours after I checked in, I requested another room because the first room was really hot. They did switch my room and it was the same. The room felt as if it was 85 to 90° inside. I believe it's because the air condition unit was in the back of the room and there was a wall divider so it was cool in the room in the morning and in the evening but the rest of the day was hot. The other issue was that the floors were extremely dirty. I had read that on one of the other reviews and I thought it couldn't be that bad. It actually was, the floors felt sticky. I don't think that they mop them. The rest of the hotel was nice. It had a really nice vibe. Nice amenities but I would wake up sweating from naps. I'd be pouring down with sweat when I would be getting dressed. It was just gross. Personally, I would not recommend you get a double bed there. I had a double queen bed room and it gave me so many problems because of the heat. I will say my son and a couple of friends had gotten the family room with the bunk beds and their room was warm but it was not near as hot as mine. So I would say to pay the extra money if you're going to stay there for the other room. I did try to switch while I was there to the other room but they said it wasn't available.

The only problem was during the breakfast service there was not enough supplies like utensils, napkins and everyone using the same knife to spread butter etc was a little off putting to me also would have preferred that orange juice be available instead of having to ask for it Despite that little thing I will definitely return

Fun atmosphere and at the same time quiet and relaxed. Very accommodating to dogs, which was appreciated. Paul was check-in, bartender and quesadilla cook that night. He was pleasant but it was difficult to serve the needs of everyone timely because he had no help. I’d advise to at least have two people onsite to provide better service.

I cannot recommend this property to anyone. Staff was horrible.

Loud neighbors, called desk at 11:30 and they did not go talk to them. Continued till 1230. Called again and nothing.

Was a great hotel 3 years ago and beyond more free water,stall less friendly, less flexibility towards customers. I stay there frequently but not any more. Too corporate.

As a returning guest to this establishment, l expect nothing but greatness. Unfortunately, upon returning this time, our experience wasn't as great! Checking in, everything was as l expected: happy and welcoming staff and an easy process to check in. The unfortunate part was the afternoon/ evening staff. The staff was rude and annoyed, like talking to a teenager about things they are uninterested in. Displaying poor communication, such as being unresponsive to feedback when it came to food not being as expected, and the pool being too hot. Or failing to provide important information beforehand when it came to the bar for a large party, and getting our rooms refreshed throughout our stay. Making our staycation feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. I understand we all have bad days, but the lack of professionalism and consistency throughout was uncalled for. It saddens me as a Tucson resident that a motel like this is losing its potential that it has because of certain lack of training in hospitality when it comes to certain staff members.

This hotel is a very well maintained "retro" property. Although it was next to the Interstate 10 freeway, the sound of the freeway was not evident. The staff was very helpful. The location was perfect for visiting downtown Tucson and for touring Sonora Desert Museum and Saguaro National Park West.

Great location right off I-10, super clean. Staff was very friendly and offered food recommendations in the area. Loved the vibe at Hotel McCoy! Definitely want to check out their other locations now or return to this one and spend more time there.

Very cool place with lots of charm, the room was nice the lobby was cool to hang out in as well. It was close to everything in Tucson. I would definitely recommend!

Beautiful artwork, super great staff. Was worried about the area but it was great, I felt safe and comfortable.

It was okay over 2 miles to nearest store

The online photos are MISLEADING. This is a renovated motel in a shady area. It’s nice that they have artists paintings but they need to modernize. It’s surrounded by a truck towing and storage facility with few lights at night and on the outskirts of town. Nothing about it was what I expected. All rooms are on the first floor and the door can easily be kicked in. The bathroom was tiny and bed looked old. Since the surrounding area was clearly hurting and many homes with barbed wire I decided to go somewhere else. Asked the front desk to cancel for the next night and he said it has to be within 24 hours. I ldid not stay there for the 2 nights I booked and went to a Hilton. So I lost my money but safety and comfort are priceless.

It’s not the Ritz but a decent place for a short stay, especially if you’re traveling with a pet. Older facility but updated within the last few years. Some highway noise. Wifi needs improvement, kept losing the connection every 10-15 minutes. Breakfast was ok but only if you’re a fan of oatmeal, little else offered. I picked this motel because of the 9.2 “exceptional” rating. It is over rated imho.

Convenient place to stay while picking up daughter at U of A. Good value for the cost. Pretty simple room, but that is all I needed. Feels safe.

We enjoyed the retro style, the cleanliness, the reminders by emails and text. There was humor in their language. The pool with salt water was excellent. The free glass of wine was weak, and the breakfast unexceptional (we went elsewhere). Still, we enjoyed staying there.

We had a great stay right up to the point we tried to get breakfast. The guy behind the counter was rude, disrespectful and got his feels hurt when I called him out on how he was treated us. He refused to answer simple questions like where are the plates and was there any other options for breakfast other than oatmeal. Then he has enough nerve to follow us to our room and try to tell me off because we agree that serving only oatmeal was a great breakfast bar.

This is a fun and funky motel style property. They've taken great care to give it an arty feel, with original local artwork everywhere you look. If you prefer a standard chain hotel with hot breakfast, look elsewhere. I loved the oatmeal bar and pop tarts breakfast, and Waffle House is a half mile down the street if you really need some eggs! Beer, hard cider and wine (much of it local) at the bar, that you can take to the pool. We had a great time, stayed two nights in late May while visiting Saguaro National Park. If I'm ever back in Tucson this is where I'll stay!
