This was our second time staying here. We love the location and staff is always very friendly. Our room this time was on a lower level with someone above us and it was awful. I’m not sure if it was due to poorly insulated rooms or extremely heavy footed, noisy upstairs neighbors. Finding the pool from our room was confusing- lots of side gates locked up. And the hot tub was literally green and the water smelled bad. People were in it, I’m not sure why. I did ask facilities about it- they came to our room actually- but I explained it was the hot tub not our room tub. Not sure if it was ever resolved or closed down. We will likely pass on staying here in the future because of the hot tub incident- it was a big turn off :( which stinks because it is such a nice place in a nice spot. But a clean pool and hot tub area is very important to us.

Overall, this place is a lovely property..... What the age of the decor often reflects/quality of the food can lack is made up for by the excellent service, variety of amenities like the heated pool/jacuzzi, bar/live music, restaurant, etc..... not to mention the amazing grounds (with deer along the perimeter!). My family has been there twice in the last 2 years and would be happy to return again (I'd especially like to check things out at Christmas!).

Beautiful property with some great offerings for guests. They had an area with wood fired pizza and live music. They also had live music in the resort bar. We didn't have meals at the restaurant, but the pizza was really good. And we got to bring our dog. We didn't get a chance to check it out but they have a dog park and dog trail. I highly recommend!

Beautiful little oasis in the pines only minutes from beach. Cabins are big and comfortable and have a little tiny porches that are small but nice. We love staying here. The pool and hot tub area is big with plenty of seating and open til 10pm.

Power went out just before we arrived. We had to wait at least an hour to check in because computers were down with power outage. That was not their fault but a good hotel would have offered a free drink while we waited but they offered nothing. No internet or TV in room for our entire stay Friday through Sunday. They offered nothing for the inconvenience. A good hotel would have discounted or offered a free night on our bill. It's a great place to unwind and we like the atmosphere but their lack of compassion for their guests was not cool at all.

From the outside, the property looked great and the landscaping around it was actually beautiful. The staff was very welcoming and professional. Unfortunately, walking into our room there was a big trashcan right by our door. Which wasn’t pleasant to see the trash and the smell. There was a few dead mosquitoes in the windows inside. Definitely could use better quality bedding as all it had was a thin blanket and the sheet.

Pillow case was inside out on the pillow. After correcting the fitting, the case had a huge stain, something that shoud not be on a bed, let alone on a pillow. The hotel staff provided us with clean cases to replace the filthy case, which is appreciated. Hotel housekeeping should be self directed for discarding linens rather than the inside out attempted solution.

The exterior of the property is unique and has a great look to it. The interior rooms are extremely dated and somewhat dirty. We liked the trail to walk to the Village and the proximity. We could not get room service to our room and asked 6 times in the course of a day and a half. At one point we ran out of toilet paper. We will most likely never be back.

First let me say that this review is based on the expectation of a regular hotel experience. I fully understand that if this room was to instead be a step-up from a cabin in the woods experience it would likely be slightly better. The bed and the pillows were fantastic and quite comfortable and is the reason this review is not 1 instead of 2 stars. However, the lack of AC was a serious problem. Which leads to the bigger problem. Because you must keep the windows open throughout the stay, and everyone is doing the same thing, you literally hear everything around you, from normal dinner conversations, to drunken revelry through most of the night. At one point it felt like we were staying in the projects, as we heard a disturbing domestic shouting match. It was so bad I went outside to be sure the woman was not in any real danger, and prepared to call the cops. Mind you this is in addition to drunken shouting happening at the same time. While the hotel cannot be responsible for guest behavior, the environment makes it untenable, and this is within their control. Additionally, there are no curtains on the windows. My assumption is that this is to make air flow easier due to the lack of AC. But unfortunately this meant that even with the blinds closed, the street lights shined straight into the room, It was like sleeping with a bright spotlight on us. I suspect that most of the hotels in Cambria are like this, but at almost $400 a night, it is just not acceptable.

We had a room and the stairs were right next to our wall where the beds were and you heard people stomping up and down all day and night and also our room had a outdoor light right next to the windows where are beds were and you couldn't block out the light so we didn't get any sleep or rest while using the room I wouldn't suggest staying in room 411

Big property. Family suite was large, and in need of some maintenance. Upstairs guests were extremely noisy, stomping around in the evening and early morning (5:00 AM). Do yourself a favor and spring for one of the One story cabin type rooms. Saw those in the 500 and 900 series buildings.

We stayed in the pet friendly family suite and we loved the amount of space we had. Seperate living room and bedroom with a kitchenette between the two and a large bathroom. Furniture was a little dated, but dogs didn’t mind 😂. Hubby had a nice soak in the spa each evening. Beautifully maintained grounds.

When we first checked in, we were mistakenly assigned to a room that was already occupied. To our shock, our keycard unlocked a door to a room with guests already inside. We immediately returned to the front desk and were assigned a different room. However, the experience was deeply unsettling, it raised serious concerns about guest safety and privacy. I asked the front desk staff for reassurance that no one else could be mistakenly given access to our new room. Unfortunately, their exact response was, “I cannot guarantee that, there are a lot of people that come in and out of the property.” This was extremely alarming. After a long day of travel and a late check-in, we decided to stay the night out of sheer exhaustion. However, we spent the night anxious and uncomfortable, worried that someone else might walk in at any moment. This property failed to meet even the most basic expectation of guest safety. I would strongly urge management to review and improve their room assignment and keycard protocols to ensure that this does not happen to others.

I'm reviewing how the hotel handled my cancellation request. I was rear-ended 3 hours before our schedule weekend trip to stay in Solvang and Cambria. We had to cancel our weekend plans. I understand that the hotel had no obligation to cancel, refund or provide credit but under such circumstances, I was hoping they would be understanding. The hotel in Solvang didn't even ask for the police report number that I offered and cancelled the reservation. They asked how I was doing. Very different experience with Cambria. The man said, well if you would have booked directly with us, you could have had a later cancellation time and insisted Expedia was the only one that could cancel. So I call Expedia. They negotiate with Cambria on my behalf. Everything is no, no, no on their end. No compromise at all. Cambria could have just said it was their decision so I would not have wasted my time reaching out to Expedia. When I texted that to them, they said they had to account for fees etc. They could have given me credit minus Expedia fees. lots of ways but no, nothing. They could just be more honest about who is saying no to a refund. They want to be on Expedia but not treat customers decently due to the fees. Doesn't matter that I was in an accident. On a couples getaway and decided to try somewhere new that offered breakfast with your stay. Check-in was super slow and this is where I was told breakfast wasn’t free if you book your room online. I showed the guy where the hotels.com page says breakfast was included. He said it was wrong and if I wanted breakfast it would be $20 per person. Wasn’t too happy about that. Has more of an old school vibe. Room was ok but the glass shower door was missing and was replaced with a very cheap shower curtain. It didn’t keep the water inside which made the floor outside the shower very wet.

That was not their fault but a good hotel would have offered a free drink while we waited but they offered nothing. No internet or TV in room for our entire stay Friday through Sunday. A beautiful escape. The room was spacious. Loved that the restaurant had dine-in, and room service. The fireplaces worked- powerfully. The trail down the stairs into town was an awesome scenic hike through nature. Perfect location if you are visiting Hearst castle too! We will definitely be back another time.

Beautiful little oasis in the pines only minutes from beach. Cabins are big and comfortable and have a little tiny porches that are small but nice. We love staying here. The pool and hot tub area is big with plenty of seating and open til 10pm.

The front desk and the accommodations were very good as usual. The much bragged up breakfast was a disaster. The potatoes, eggs and ham were stone cold. I thought that this place was nice but way too expensive and we were very disappointed when they sat us for the buffet at a quarter till 10 and told us that we would be able to enjoy the buffet at $20 a person and then after we sat down and were ignored with no silverware, no salt, no pepper no napkins no nothing They took all the food away. The front desk did wind up not charging our room, but it was a bit of a disappointment. And for being over $300 a night we expected it to be a little better. The gardens were very nice and it’s about 10 minutes. Drive from Moonstone Beach
