Rambler Hotel

The Rambler Motel is super cute with comfortable beds and great showers. I love all the fun activities that are available, the cafe, the pool and the game room.

I love the movie by the pool and their cafe! No issues with parking and easy check in/out process.

Very clean and nice retro rooms. The pool area is super nice and the kids really enjoyed it. Nice fireplace by the pool.

Great retro hotel. Loved the dinner attached to it. Loved the bike usage and the closeness to the bike paths!

Rambler was cute and comfortable, clean rooms, free parking. Theres an onsite coffee shop and restaurant and you get a discount for being a guest.

The staff and hotel were great. My boyfriend and I were very happy with our stay. We loved the pool and cafe. I didn't get to check it out, but I saw they had Saturday night movies by the pool.

Love, love, love the Rambler. Rooms are super funky, staff are awesome, the free cruiser bikes are a seriously fun bonus, access to the trolley is UBER convenient, and the cafe with guest discount is divine.

I had an incredible stay here. Prices were the best I found and the experience was excellent. The parking is free and at night they gate up one side of it which felt really safe and secure. I would definitely come back!

The room was extremely clean! The staff was friendly and trustworthy

It was a very cool vibe but the rooms didn’t smell clean. Our toddlers socks were filthy after 5 mins of putting them on and him walking around the room. And it wouldn’t kill them to use fabric softener or detergent that smells cleans

I have stayed here multiple times already and it’s always clean. I would recommend having hand soap so I don’t have to go to the bathroom to use the body soap that is supplied while washing my hands.

I enjoyed the bright colors of my room and fun graphics. The maid service was above average and I was pleased with the job they did. The carpet was dirty though. Neither the rooms nor the lobby have coffee. The hotel has a cafe but it doesn't open until 7am.

Shower was dirty, door handle to bathroom kept getting stuck

It was clean and conveniently near the 5 frwy. Customer Service was excellent, very friendly people! Ice cream freezer in the registration lobby with all your favorite ice cream on a stick, popsicles, etc. We had a room with 2 queens. Mattresses were tempur-pedic-like and very comfortable. The pillows were very comfy, more soft than firm, 4 king-sized pillows on each bed. Loved that! Tub was a bit outdated but I loved the full-sized, rainfall-type shower head, plenty of water pressure. They also had containers on the shower wall with shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. So convenient. I was disappointed that there was no refrigerator or microwave in the room, so don’t bring your perishable leftovers back. There was also no closet, just a small-sized clothing rack near the sink. They have a small space in the front office area that serves breakfast, coffee bar choices, and some cooler items to choose from: yogurt, cheese snacks, bottled water/juice, etc., discount applied for guests. All-in-all a nice experience. Certainly not all the amenities you may want, but what they offered, they did very well.

This motel was the cleanest most organized place I’ve ever been. They have a coffee shop/sandwich shop/breakfast shop on the property. The room was exactly as it was advertised on mine. 100% I would come back here. The highway is literally 15 seconds from the motel.

The AC was off when we arrived, so our room was hot and everything felt sticky. Our shower had a bug and a few hairs in it. It's a decent place, but a motel nonetheless.

Nice clean room and great staff. Easy freeway access. One of the best low cost motels I have stayed at.

It would be nice to add refrigerators, microwaves in rooms.

The pool is great. The room was clean. The wifi sucked and barely worked and the area doesnt have great cell signal, but other than that it was great!

Rate paid did not reflect the room facilities. Small cramped restroom with no exhaust ventilation and tight wash-up countertop. On second day, the AC unit started leaking condensation on to room carpet, near the door. Couldn’t enjoy lounging in socks or barefoot in room. TV channels available were really good.

The room was clean and very nice. The down fall for me was the room didn't have a microwave or a coffee maker.

We unfortunately had to call the front desk at 3 am due to extremely noisy people outside our room. The glass windows aren’t super noise proof. Thankfully the woman at the front desk got the people to leave. Not the hotels fault at all and thankfully we were able to change rooms for the next night as we had no idea if they were our neighbors or not. My only real complaint would be the rooms are warm. We ran the a/c all night and it did not cool the room enough. The second night our room was on the second floor and we had the same issue.

Hotel was good. Very clean, nice little cafe. Parking wasn’t an issue. Easy access to the Train station. My only complaint is that the WiFi during our stay was awful. This usually wouldn’t be a problem, but Verizon appeared to have a dead zone at the hotel. Other than that it was a great stay and would recommend staying here.

This was our second time staying at the Rambler, it was clean inside, and comfortable, the wall art and colors were fun to see as well. Staff was very friendly during check in and checkout. Only issue the walls are super thin and motel guests have no volume control at 3:45 am. Hard to sleep with the noise. Also I think the cafe is understaffed, we were waiting to order food and coffee and no one came out to greet us or take our oder. We figured the cashier was also the cook as a couple of people sitting down had food and coffee. And a couple in front of us was waiting to order. We waited aa good while and left. We really wanted to stay there and eat, but maybe next time. Overall the motel is very nice for people on a budget, and we'll definitely stay there again.

I do like to his place, but 20 bucks a day for a fridge is a little out of line. Everybody needs a fridge, even the cheap places have them for free, so to add 20 bucks a night for a $100 fridge sucks. Turns a 130 ish place into a 150 ish place. Not super cool, sorry

We love the bathroom. The shower water pressure is perfect.

Surprisingly quiet, wasn't a huge fan of the room we had as windows didn't open and that made it less than fresh, but for the price it was fine.

The staff at this property go way out of their way to make you feel comfortable and are very responsive to any needs that you express. I would stay here another time without a doubt.

Staff were efficient and professional but lacked welcoming feeling. Felt they were just there to do a job. Was there for a celebration and got back very late only to have housekeeping knock on the door and woke us up only to have them return at 9am and woke us up again after we reminded them check out wasn’t until 11.

My family of 3 had a lovely stay at the Rambler. Staff were very welcoming and the property was in great condition. Would definitely stay here again!

The Rambler Hotel is excellent in every way. Location is great for business travelers since it’s right off the freeway and it’s conveniently close to a lot of stores. There’s a Cafe/Coffee Shop at the property that opens 7am-8pm, the coffee is excellent and the food is OK. The motel itself has been renovated and the decor/theme is so fun. Service is excellent, from the Front Desk, the cafe staff and cleaning staff, everyone was so nice and friendly. Will definitely stay again if we’re in the area.

Clean rooms, nice staff

This place is the best, hands down! The staff is incredibly friendly and available at all times. The housing maintenance staff seems to be on shift all day, ensuring that every room is clean. I will definitely be back soon!

Doubt I would stay here again. Room wasn't too bad although the mattress had a huge dip in it that made it difficult to sleep. Check in went good and the coffee shop was a nice extra. The issue that this hotel has is with their customer service. We stayed 4 nights. Second night my wife went to use their laundry room at 830 pm but found it locked. They said they close at 8. Now we know. Second night she showed up at 715pm to find it closed again. We later saw a sign saying it closed at 9. She went to the front desk and spoke with Ingrid. Ingrid was extremely rude, saying that it closes at 730. My wife explained that she was there at 715 and it was locked up. Her and Gonzalo the maintenance guy were arguing about it loud enough for the 6 guests in the lobby to hear and finally told her that they would open it but she had BETTER be out by 9, which my wife agree to and left. What they didnt know was that I was in line. Ingrid and Gonzalo then proceeded to speak bad about her, stating "this is the second night she's done this" and made jokes about her until I told who I was and how unprofessional they were acting. It made the last two night very uncomfortable as we didnt want to ask for anything more from them. Not the way customer service should be. After giving them $700 you would think we could have some friendly helping employees. You can tell that the owners have done their best to make it a nice place. Too bad their employees are ruining it.

There was a young lady at the front desk who gave me a really hard time at the check in. I requested to speak to the manager, and it took about an hour and a half. Finally the manager helped me out, however, the young girl lacked the knowledge, ins and outs of the check in process. As of now, I am not planning to go back to Rambler hotel ever again.

Nice hotel. They have a cafe on the property and are in easy walking distance of several other options. A 2 minute walk to the trolley station. Rooms were very clean and rain shower heads in the shower. The only negatives I can think of would be, a fridge and microwave would have been nice and the a/c is non-directional and blows on whoever is sleeping in the bed closest to the door. Those negatives are not big enough to drop the 5 stars on the rooms though. Office and cafe staff are exceptionally friendly. Great stay at a great place. Also, there is a casino next store and our room was on the casino side. Never heard the slightest noise from there.

The location is highly convenient, just off I-5, making it easy to get around - Coronado Island, the airport & downtown all within 15 mins. The room was clean, spacious, and comfortable, making for an enjoyable stay. One minor downside: no tea kettle or coffee maker in the room, but it wasn’t a big issue.

One night stay with the family. Right off the freeway and only 15 min from Coronado.

Super cute motel! Hassle free, fast check in. Close to highway if driving, a 5 min walk from public transit and easily accessible to downtown. Next door to a casino. Had pool, fire pit, and indoor and outdoor games. There was a coffee shop at the motel. Very clean rooms. Quiet in motel and nearby. Area at night is a bit sketchy at times but had no issues. Only downside was that there was no mini fridge in the room. Would stay here again.

Nice hotel not too far from many attractions

This place is safe to stay and close to a lot of places to eat.

Very quaint rooms and good service. There isn’t much to do in the immediate surrounding area but you are a 10 minute drive to downtown SD. Reasonably priced and safe!

Affordable, clean, safe motel just south of San Diego. Easy and free parking. Close to the highway. Shower head and pressure was amazing.

You can walk across the overpass to one of the Tram stations, so easy connections to downtown or the Mexican border.

The cafe was great, good options made with actual, real food, (real eggs, bacon) not the powder/rubber you normally get with free continental. I also had a mazapan latte that was fantastic! While the meals are not included with the price of your stay, they are discounted if you are a guest, and the prices were very reasonable, much cheaper than a Dennys for a example, and much better quality, we paid about $25 for two meals and two specialty coffees. There is also an arcade area, great if you have kids and they show movies at the pool. There is also a pit in the pool area where you can make smores, they even include the skewers when you buy the little smores kit. Room was basic but clean, and the bed was very comfortable. Close to the freeway.

The beds are solidified clouds. The TV is big and equipped with Direct TV. Room didn't smell like tobacco even after you blast the cold AC. The coffee shop is great and delicious. No shady suspects in the area at all. Great stay. Oh! You get 30 percent off at the coffee shop if you're staying at in the Hotel!! Hope this helps someone decide 🤘

Hotel was amazing and wonderfully updated with great character. However don’t rely on the restaurant/coffee shop. They were closed a lot or the “kitchen” was closed. Also pool closes pretty early (9pm).

I have stayed at The Rambler a few times now and I am always impressed by the consistent and excellent level of service. The location is super convenient for getting into downtown San Diego and for my needs on my trips here. Also you can’t beat the adjoining coffee shop’s mazapan latte! X

The hotel is very nice in a great location at a great price. The only drawback is they do not serve any hot coffee. There is no coffee pots in the rooms. They have a restaurant that apparently opens at 7am. We have stayed there 3 times. The last 2 times we were there they opened late once and did open at all the next time. This can easily rectified by having a coffee pot in the lounge and letting people make their own coffee and charging them for it. A lot of us need our morning coffee and if this is not fixed I doubt that we will stay there again.

This place is really cute! From the art work on the wall to the cute decorative pillow. AC/heater worked perfectly and the shower was great with consistent hot water. There's plenty of parking and the staff was very friendly. I had breakfast at the cafe ( avocado toast and ice coffee) and it was very fresh and delicious. I only wish we were able to play the arcade games but the token machine was out of service. All in all, Id definitely come back for another stay.
