Unfortunately, there was a fire the night before my arrival and half of the hotel was closed off due to the damage. The entire hotel had an overwhelming smoke smell, and had to have dozens of air mover (fans) throughout. While I do not fault my experience to this alome, the biggest issue was the in room have unit. It made loud noises and a heavy water hammering sound every time it kicked on. Needless to say, I did not get much sleep. Aside from that, the staff was very kind, helpful, and apologetic for the unfortunate fire/smoke /water damage.

The property was rated high, which is why we booked here. We were very disappointed from the moment we arrived. The property was not well kept and was very outdated. The food was decent at the little sports bar, and the staff were pleasant, After a few minutes in the war, not hot tub, and after seeing a few very large cockroaches running across the deck, we went back to our room, only to find out our only option for shower and sink water temperature was scalding. There was no cold water whatsoever! Then, at about 2:15 am, the fire alarm sounded, and when I looked out the window there was black smoke billowing from the side of the building. I woke my son and granddaughter, and when I opened the door, there was a police officer standing there advising that we needed to evacuate immediately. We were escorted down the stairs and out of the building, where we sat for two hours before being told we would be escorted back into the building, but only to gather our belongings because the hotel was no longer safe. They offered no one alternate accommodations or a refund, but they did send my final statement, I contacted them and requested a refund due to the fact that the service I paid for was not provided, and I was told it would be taken care of. A few hours later I received another message with the exact same statement. Currently, Hotels.com has communicated with the property and I am awaiting the outcome. First day of vacation in an unknown place! Just bad business!

One of the worst Best Western stays ever. It began with an unfriendly front desk staff who obviously disliked her job. Only one elevator was working and the room we were given was directly across from the elevator. The foot traffic was loud and noisy. The tiny pool on the bottom floor was heated with propane and the propane smell permeated the rooms. It was nauseating and did not feel safe. We opened a window and were surprised that there wasn’t even a screen on the window. This was again, a safety issue. I knew that we could not sleep in that room with the strong propane smell, so I went to the front desk, explained the concern and asked for a new room. Again the front desk staff member was uninterested and offered no apology about the situation. She did provide me with another room at the opposite end of the same hall. It was better, but the propane smell permeated the vents when the air conditioner came on. We made sure to stay in the hotel for as short of a time as we could, eating our dinner and morning breakfast at local restaurants instead. The front desk staff in the morning was a different young lady and she was very friendly. Overall, I do not recommend ever staying in this hotel.

The check in staff member was nice and friendly, but after she left the rest of employees were short and loud due to being disturbed from their computer screen. This was my first time visiting this Best Western in Clear Lake. As a member I've never been denied a continental breakfast. The food was being prepared for a church group only and had a closed sign outside the door. Luckily I found breakfast a cross the street at Grandpa's Cafe. It's a shame to give this Best Western a lacking review because it's beautiful and has great potential.
