His is an older hotel but it is maintained. They have a good breakfast buffet although it used to be better. The staff is nice. There’s no air conditioning which is okay except maybe in September. There was a much needed ceiling fan. The gym is very small but clean and there’s a sauna. Dog friendly. It was noisy during the day but very quiet at night.

Spacious clean room with a nice fireplace and balcony. Nice garden view and golf view (lucky to have the corner end room, 2nd floor). Beautiful two-story old building, nice details, like Spanish tiles in the bathroom beautiful garden with nice firepit, play area for kids and adults, nice architecture. Also have a nice pool and jacuzzi, and a work out room and ice machine. Front desk employees are nice and friendly, like Carlos, Sarah, and especially, Julie. Julie is awesome! Enjoyed the free bikes and biked toward Ritz Carlton coastal view. (Except my bike got a flat tire hallway through). Beautiful breakfast area with a big tv and a place to hangout and play board games (scrabble, yatzee, candyland, etc). Nice free continental breakfast although the sausages need to be cooked more and the scrambled eggs are a little bland. Waffles are great! Overall stay is excellent!

The room was clean and pleasant. The amenities, fitness room (small but ok), jacuzzi, pool, sana were good. The breakfast, listed as continental, actually had eggs, sausages, waffles, and Peete's coffee, also very clean and pleasant. Only issue was I need to charge my phone, my wire did not connent to room charge, I tried wireless, it said phone was charging, and the charge actually went down. Fortunately, another family member in a different room had a charger. Overall, a pleasant, enjoyable stay.

The fitness center is in need of a rehaul. Broken treadmill, very old elliptical and stationary bike. Nice assortment of free weights. Overall it seemed dirty and I didn't want to work out there.

We stayed one night at Half Moon Bay Lodge, and honestly, I’m just glad it was only one night. From the moment we arrived, the room felt dirty and neglected. The bathroom and bathtub were especially gross—definitely not cleaned thoroughly. The pillows on the bed smelled terrible, which made it hard to feel comfortable. We even found mosquito hawks in the room, which added to the unease. What really concerned us was the desk lamp that kept zapping while turned on. We were traveling with our young children, and this felt like a serious safety hazard. The final straw was when we pulled back the curtains and discovered a filthy pair of denim pants hidden behind them—it was disgusting and absolutely unacceptable. I brought my concerns to the front desk and explained how uncomfortable and gross the stay had made us feel. Unfortunately, the staff member simply said “thanks for your feedback” and didn’t offer any apology, compensation, or solution. The only redeeming part of the stay was the breakfast, it was okay, nothing special. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone. There are plenty of other places to stay in the area—try literally anywhere else.

The grounds are beautiful and the receptionist was friendly when I checked in. Unfortunately our room was very run down and we had ants in the bathroom. Room was in poor condition. Shower drain was backed up so by the time two of us had taken showers we were wading in about 8 inches of water. We booked a room for 4 people and there weren't any blankets on the sofa bed (the only other bed was a king, so I think they knew we'd be using the sofa bed). We arrived very late with tired kids and it was disappointing to have to deal with something as basic as blankets on the sofa bed. We didn't learn about the ants or clogged shower drain until the morning. Paid almost $500 for one night, so was surprised at the quality.

Wall were very thin so you can hear noise from all round including people walking above if you’re on a lower floor. Bathroom was dirty, hair from a previous hotel guest was stuck to the bathroom door, mold on bathroom shower window, towel smelled (not fresh). Continental breakfast was average. Paid way too much for 2 rooms due to a busy weekend. Not worth it.

The staff was fine, pet friendly and we really enjoyed the fire pit area. There is a beautiful coastal walk adjacent as well as bikes available for use. The not so good, loose concrete on walkways make for walking hazards and cleanliness was a huge problem. Stains on pillows and linens the doors and window frames were very dirty. Active ants in the bathroom as well as mold. Great location, could be great, but new decor on top of old dirt and mold is just camouflage. Would not return because of mold, stains and bugs. Paid way, way, too much for a room with these types of issues.

Nice patio room. Clean and nice beds/bedding. No air conditioning so it was hot but was an unseasonable fall day. Reception staff were very friendly and helpful! Continental breakfast was a little disappointing but decent. Had expected more given the price level.

No a.c., so the room can get humid and warm. Most all rooms have patios/porch, but the screen door was so old it wouldn’t lock, making the option of fresh air overnight non achievable. My ceiling fan stopped in the middle of the night, but the front desk had a small box fan that sufficed. Overall good stay, just warm and uncomfortable at night.

This was a great last min stay. The hotel is older and there are signs of that but it was very clean and the beds were super comfortable. The sliders were heavy and noisy but the back patio/porch was really nice. We won’t hesitate to stay again

***THERE IS NO AC*** I was extremely disappointed upon arriving to our room that there is no central air/AC. Just an overhead fan that only worked on turbo speed and dried out your eyes. Yes the region is cooler, but the room gets very humid and warm without any air circulation. We stay all the time in the central coast/Big Sur area and the hotels all have AC. We could not leave the screen door open as it wouldn’t lock so we had no choice but to close it at night. It is absurd that the hotel does not state ANYWHERE (Expedia or their website) that they do not have AC, if we would have known we would not have spent $700 for two nights sweating. The two stars are for the cleanliness and free parking. But this was absolutely not worth the price.

Located on a nice property in half moon bay, property was a little dated but clean and functional. In room fireplace was a nice touch, but added a smokiness to the room. Overall, it was appropriate for the price point in this area. Given we were visiting for two nights for a local wedding and not on-site much, would stay here again.

Overall we really liked our stay at the Half Moon Bay Lodge. It was clean and service was good. The view out of balcony was awesome. The only complain were the bed and pillow. They were quite old and not the most comfortable. The mattress was not firm and sacks, not great for someone with back issues.

Earlier in the week, I called to confirm if we could arrive early, get a pool card, and relax while waiting for our room so I could work. I was told, “Of course!” However, upon arrival Friday, the front desk said they couldn’t give me pool access and would text when the room was ready. No exceptions. My kids were disappointed, my husband took them to the beach, and I worked in my car until I got a text at 3 PM — by then my laptop was dead. That evening at 8:30 PM, I got a call from the front desk saying the guest below complained about “stomping.” I have two kids, but we weren’t stomping, and it was only 8:30 PM. This made me paranoid for the rest of the trip, telling my kids to tiptoe. The property is well kept, with older bathrooms and refrigerators but very clean considering all the dogs and children. Breakfast was great — fresh eggs, sausages, and make-your-own waffles. The breakfast area is spacious with board games, the pool is nicely heated, and the fire pit is lovely for morning coffee or evening wine. The staff was argumentative and rude when I checked in, the breakfast room was overcrowded to the point of not be able to eat breakfast and the offerings at breakfast were minimal. The hot tub was very dirty and was open to use but not sanitary.

it’s always nice having a suite. We were on the bottom floor and the guests upstairs you could hear every step they made and it was quite loud. I would give your front desk customer service five stars. They deducted $50 from our stay because of the noise. We’ll have to make sure we request the second floor next time. Thank you Julie.

We had a good stay at Half Moon Lodge. Room was spacious and clean. Staff was friendly and the free breakfast was good. Pool was heated and hot tub was excellent. Out door fire was nice, especially on chilly nights. Hotel had plenty games for kids to play. Its a family friendly hotel. Driving distance to restaurants and golf.

The staff at check in were helpful and friendly. The location of the hotel is away from the crowded parts of town but not too far away from the harbor or other activities. We loved our first floor room with a view of the sunset through lovely trees each evening. We requested and were able to get a first floor room and microwave. Breakfast included eggs, sausage, cereals, and a waffle machine. The hotel toiletries were Lather, which are cruelty free. The tiling in the bathroom was lovely. We really enjoyed our stay here.

This is just an average property. Clean and newly renovated. The pool and jacuzzi area is really nice with a fire pit area and a fireplace area and nice seating. Our room tended to be noisy. Breakfast was mediocre, but the coffee was good. At just a mile or so south of downtown Half Moon Bay and right on the 1, it is not possible to walk to anything.

Unlike other hotels that include breakfast, the buffet included eggs and sausages in addition to the continental breakfast. The room we had was on the courtyard, which overlooked the firepit and golf course. I look forward to returning.

All good except the included breakfast. I arrived at 9:00am, breakfast is supposed to be until 10:00am, there were no bagels, no sausages,no bacon, no coffee, no tea bags, no cream. Only issue was I need to charge my phone, my wire did not connent to room charge, I tried wireless, it said phone was charging, and the charge actually went down. Better than expected, a gorgeous spot and loved everything they had to offer. Conversation cards, board games, free coffee and hot cocoa by the fireplace. When booking I did not see they had a swimming pool- that area was so cute too with an outdoor fireplace and hot tub. The best stay we had on our trip!
