Overall, I enjoyed my stay at this hotel. I was initially worried bc the surrounding area appeared sketchy with many homeless individuals.Parking is a major concern for me in LA, but LAAC offers a gated parking structure with an attendant & barrier gate, which made me feel secure.The attendant is very helpful and nice! Parking fee: $40/night. There was some miscommunication with the staff bc I was told parking is complimentary but after I received the charge on my credit card it was indeed not complimentary. After 9 PM, the main entrance closes; only access is through the parking structure via a buzzer, and you have to show a guard your hotel card via camera. Overall staff is very kind! My room (Deluxe room, 1 Queen bed, City view) was quite small. The room was compact; the bed and bathroom were in close proximity to the entrance. Unlike other hotels I've stayed at, there was no additional seating area besides the bed. However, it included a desk with a chair, a TV, and a mini-fridge. Despite being near the elevator, noise was not an issue. They also had black out curtains which was a plus. The hotel has numerous amenities: a study area, Olympic-sized pool, indoor track, sauna, cold plunge, gym, weights, and cardio classes. I recommend at least two days to fully enjoy these facilities. Overall the amenities, secure parking, and proximity to LA attractions made this stay worth it!

The LAAC is a unique place to stay. The gym and locker rooms are excellent, as are the many shared spaces. I enjoyed lounging on the rooftop and the classy, historic third floor❤️

The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. The hotel amenities were also absolutely the highlight of our stay. Pool, indoor track, full gym equipment and more. Cannot recommend the hotel enough.

This was an amazing property with excellent amenities! The immediate downtown area was safe but be careful walking too far away from the hotel. Otherwise, we had a phenomenal stay! Be sure to leave time to enjoy the gym and spa!!

This is a lovely hotel and club to stay at during a conference and still get your exercise in. Friendly staff! Great facility for sports and amazing locker rooms with everything from sauna to cold plunge.

We stayed for one night but wanted to stay longer. The pool was not for relaxing and a reservation was needed but other than that, it was a great hotel with so many things to do, even on a Tuesday night.

Had a great stay here. I've been here before and after the renovations and it feels nicer and more energetic after the remodel. Having access to the amenities of the club is great as I got to swim and work out. One thing to note is there's a $40+ a day resort fee so if you aren't inclined to use the club's amenities it may not be worth staying here. I'll be back and love that I can have some time to exercise and use the club while on a work trip.

Staying at LAAC is great because of the ability to use the great athletic facilities and this makes it worth the price to me. And it is terrific that they have now brought back dining options that had been lost during the pandemic. But the housekeeping service really fell down on my last visit. The coffee service wasn’t changed overnight, cleaning rags were left in my room, towels not totally changed. And the room in general felt shabby. I’ve stayed in rooms before that felt like old school but good condition. This time, the room and furnishings seemed more like they needed a refresh/update.

The hotel was great. Super clean, great location, excellent staff, good food . The only problem was the paper thin walls . And of course I was lucky enough to have neighbors that blasted a speaker starting at 4:45am until 7am. Obviously anyone can hear a speaker blasting through the walls but earlier in the day you could even hear people coughing through the walls lol .. but other than that everything about this place was great !

I found this hotel to be very clean and comfortable. It’s an old solid building and therefore very quiet. The bed was comfortable, there was a very nice robe provided, and there was good hot water. I really appreciated that my room was made up without me having to ask. (in this post-pandemic time, it is all too common for hotels to treat midstay room cleaning like some unattainable prize.) There are tons of restaurants and stores in walking distance, including a Whole Foods. If I had one suggestion for the hotel, it would be to make the hotel signage and directions more clear for people who are driving/entering from the parking garage. Specifically: 1) put a sign outside of the parking garage that says “hotel self-parking.” (currently it only says valet parking.) 2) put a label next to the ”1” button in the parking garage elevator that says “hotel reception.” (I had to ask people what floor to go to.) 3) put a couple of small signs with arrows in the building for those exiting the parking garage elevator that say “Hotel lobby >” (it wasn’t clear how to get there and again I had to ask people). Basically, this facility is primarily a (fancy) gym and all the signage is related to the gym and there is very little hotel signage. I didn’t get a chance to use the gym, but it seems to be pretty incredible even though it was partially under construction when I stayed.

The general quality of this hotel service was the worst I've ever experienced.the Manger doesn't appear to care if the employees complete their tasks or not.The bathroom and carpet were both quite dirty, indicating that whomever was in charge of cleaning didn't know how to do it right. They only offered towels and waste bags after I asked them to clean the room more than three times, and they disregarded me. I asked them to fix the refrigerator because it wasn't working and everything was spoiled, but they failed to do so for the entire week I was there.I won't stay at this hotel again if I visit Los Angeles again.My recommendation is to stay away from this hotel as the services are not worth the price.

While the facility was great and the and the amenities were nice the room left tremendously. I noticed entering the room. The smell was somewhat stuffy. The carpet seemed very muggy and dirty. I stepped barefooted on something sticky. There are stains on the carpet. The bed linens felt like I was sleeping on a 300 thread count sheet and the toilet paper was like wiping with sandpaper. Not very suitable if traveling with family or as a female. My husband didn’t seem to mind it very much. Getting ready in the morning our sink clogged while brushing our teeth we went to go have coffee came back in the room, and the sink was overflown with water dripping on the floor. We called the front desk to have the problem resolved, and a service man to fix the problem which later resulted in them telling us to just use the locker rooms to get ready. Me and my husband couldn’t enjoy any personal time because we now have two men trying to fix the sink in the bathroom. We definitely would stay here again slowly based off what the amenities offered. hopefully this review leaves it open for them too fix and improve their issues with the rooms.

The room was fine, the bathroom sink was teeny tiny with zero shelf space for our toiletries. The elevator was so old and shaky! The area around the hotel smelled like urine and it did not feel safe to walk around.

The property is nice staff is old school not a lot of help very strict rules sometime rude. AC thermostats very old they gos stuck 3 times. TVs the worst small 28” blurry 12 years old worst TVs ever. Plain not goof for price of rooms. They can do better amazing building. Hope they fix it. Plenty potential. Need nicer staff

This is one of my favorite properties in LA. Yes, the hotel rooms are dated, the beds old and worn, the bathrooms unpleasing to both sight and touch, and yes, the overall hotel experience is, in a few words, a very poor one - the property as a whole is not! The history, the architecture, the gym and activities, and classes, the restaurant, the jazz, the photos, the library, the cigar & whiskey boutique, the property is absolutely stunning. LAAC is Los Angeles. The Aster and Per La are by far more elegant and fashionable options, but I often stay LAAC when staying downtown. :) The entire staff in the property provide a warm experience, which softens the rugged edges of the hotel's aesthetics. (Can't wait for the hotel reno!!)

Very helpful and friendly staff. The property is amazing if you're into fitness. I got a suite on the top floor and it was very large and comfortable. Bathrooms could use an update, but I'll be back regardless

The rooms are definitely in need of a refresh. The bathrooms are very outdated, the tv's are old and small and the lighting in the room is very dark. Despite that, the hotel is so iconic and the location ideal for downtown. It is quiet. The gym facilities are great. The colleagues are very nice and helpful. The decor in the hotel is amazing. It is like stepping back in time.

Great hotel and very friendly staff. My only issue was the shower. Water temp was very difficult to control. It took quite a while to get hot water and then once we had hot water it was far too hot and we couldn’t cool it down. The hotel itself (bathroom in particular) shows its age, but still a good stay.

Good customer service at check in and out, easy parking and the common areas have lots of history. I was only there one night and the room was clean and adequate for my needs. Unfortunately, I was woken up at 5:30am by my neighbor that was speaking loudly on a phone call. I was put in a room with an adjoining room option and because of that, heard him loud and clear and it ruined my morning.
Good customer service at check in and out, easy parking and the common areas have lots of history. I was only there one night and the room was clean and adequate for my needs. Unfortunately, I was woken up at 5:30am by my neighbor that was speaking loudly on a phone call. I was put in a room with an adjoining room option and because of that, heard him loud and clear and it ruined my morning.

I didn't like nor appreciate the lack of transparency regarding charging extra for the athletic club amenities as opposed to it be all-inclusive in the hotel stay. They didn't mention it until check out. Its not worth the stay. Too expensive.

The front desk staff was incredibly friendly at all hours, especially check in at 3pm on a Friday. The room and club were phenomenal. Our family of four was so impressed with everything. We swam, used hot tubs, played billiards, played basketball to name some of things. Location was also priceless.

LAAC was all around phenomenal. The staff is so on point, from front desk to servers to club staff. Melissa and Abe took great care of us at the desk for all our needs. Friendly and will go out of their way to accommodate. Ciara/sierra and Ismael were awesome at the bar. Don’t know the names of the servers at invention and players club but the staff is tops up and down. Invention was a great spot to grab dinner and Dukes was the later-night bar spot and really nice. The workout facility is everything you could want, basketball court, Olympic pool, locker rooms felt like a country club. The pricing is fair for a high end place and we would definitely stay there again.

While the athletic club facilities are still really great, the cost per night has risen substantially, even from last year, while other (non athletic club) amenities have decreased. When we checked in I noticed that there was only one pod of regular coffee in the room. I went down to the front desk and asked for two more pods. Three hours later I went down and asked again, on our way out to lunch. When we returned home for the evening there are still nothing. I gave up. Over 24 hours later, and just an hour before we were to check out, they delivered the pods. This is but one example of the bush league service we received. There are so many $350 hotels in DTLA. I have to assume most of them are willing to go the extra mile and accommodate a customer who would simply like a cup of coffee in the morning.

If you plan to stay downtown, do not stay here. I prepaid for a room here months in advance. I tried to check in and was told my room wasn't ready. I came back later in the evening and the front desk gave me a room that had a family sleeping in it. When I approached the front desk, they told me they had given my room away and I would have to stay somewhere else. They agreed to pay for a taxi and when that taxi arrived, I informed them the hotel would pay, the taxi looked at me puzzled and promptly drove off leaving my bags in the street. Frustrated, I drove myself to the other hotel, only to be told by them that the LA Athletic Club only decided to comp me 1-night even though I paid for 2. I was on the verge of tears stranded in downtown LA because of this hotel. They have deplorable service and at every turn, they made my experience worse and worse. I wasted my money, my time, and my sanity and I will never stay here again.

The club has a very convenient location near Pershing Square, lots of great restaurants are nearby. The rooms are very nice and comfortable, that said the building could use a bit of polishing up as the woodwork is dinged... It is very odd that you actually cannot get in the main doors but have to go around the corner and enter through the parking entrance.

Enjoyable weekend stay at this hotel in downtown Los Angeles. If you're into the history of the city, this place definitely has a lot of it, particularly as it relates to its sports & Olympic history. Overall, I enjoyed my stay at this hotel. I was initially worried bc the surrounding area appeared sketchy with many homeless individuals.Parking is a major concern for me in LA, but LAAC offers a gated parking structure with an attendant & barrier gate, which made me feel secure.The attendant is very helpful and nice! Parking fee: $40/night. There was some miscommunication with the staff bc I was told parking is complimentary but after I received the charge on my credit card it was indeed not complimentary. After 9 PM, the main entrance closes; only access is through the parking structure via a buzzer, and you have to show a guard your hotel card via camera. Overall staff is very kind! My room (Deluxe room, 1 Queen bed, City view) was quite small. The room was compact; the bed and bathroom were in close proximity to the entrance. Unlike other hotels I've stayed at, there was no additional seating area besides the bed. However, it included a desk with a chair, a TV, and a mini-fridge. Despite being near the elevator, noise was not an issue. They also had black out curtains which was a plus. The hotel has numerous amenities: a study area, Olympic-sized pool, indoor track, sauna, cold plunge, gym, weights, and cardio classes. I recommend at least two days to fully enjoy these facilities. Overall the amenities, secure parking, and proximity to LA attractions made this stay worth it!

The room itself this trip was probably one of the the more basic single-queen rooms they have and not a standout but also perfectly functional. We had an incredible stay and even better customer service too to bottom. When you call and hit zero outside hotel or while there someone answers and immediately they help you. The facilities are beautiful. Breakfast in restaurant was so good. So nice that a great experience start to finish is still in the world.

Staying at LAAC was a fun change from a "regular hotel" -- the Athletic club facility is TERRIFIC. The restaurants/bars were cool and yummy. Hotel room itself was a bit dated and the bathroom was a little beat up. (Showed in the locker room instead!) But overall the experience was terrific and we'd stay again.

The staff and property were great. Very convenient access to downtown and metro (but tourists need to be vigilant on metro not overly safe... not the hotel's fault but be aware of this!) The bathroom is really dated and dark...but the fitness facilities are top notch. I actually chose to use those over our shower a few times. Restaurant is very good.

This hotel is a great option if you like to workout while on vacation. The gym, swimming pool and basketball court are amazing. There is also sauna, steam and cold plunge. The rooftop is gorgeous. The bar is incredible. The only problems during my stay was that the restaurant was closed due to reparations.

Every staff member treated me and my family with kindness and professionalism throughout our three days as hotel guests at LAAC! We had so much fun as temporary members. We enjoyed the pool, workout facilities, and basketball court -- and even received a building tour from Joseph the engineer! The double queen room was generously sized for three people. The food at Invention and Famous Players was outstanding, and it was so handy to be able to call in an order to pick up breakfast. Parking in the garage was also super easy and we loved having in-and-out privileges.

The reputation of the leisure facilities is second to none and the hotel is very traditional in its dark decor with a lot of reflection to its past. The room was very spacious with dated bathroom facilities but still adequate. The area isn't the greatest but that could be said of much of downtown LA but we'd stay here again and travelled as a family of 4 (kids aged 12 & 14). Highly recommend.
