At Beresford Arms, travelers find a historic, centrally located stay with spacious rooms (many with kitchenettes), friendly staff, and good value, but an older building and the surrounding urban environment shape much of the experience.

The hotel is historic and boutique. Very beautiful! One of the best things this hotel has going for is location, location, location. You’re walking distances to bars, restaurants, and an eclectic hodgepodge of San Francisco culture. Will be staying again!

Beresford Arms Hotel is located in an area which is walking distance from restaurants, grocery stores (one is across the road), and attractions (union square is 3 blocks, cable car only 2 blocks, Chinatown is easy walking). Someone commented that the area is not safe. Well, we found it to be safe enough. Of course, late night walking may (or may not) be safe simply because the city has problem with homeless people BUT one can be careful (as we were by crossing the street at dinner time & avoiding the homeless who have settled for the night). The breakfast was included in the room price; we thought they had good variety (yoghurt, croissants, muffins, pastries, fruit, tea & coffee); we had breakfast and ready for the day's excursions. All in all we were very happy staying at Beresford Arms Hotel & will choose this hotel again. Thank you to all the staff at Beresford Arms.

I really do not recommend this hotel for many reasons. Let's start with the room. I booked a room with three queen beds, but I didn't get what I reserved. Instead, they gave me a room with two queen beds and a sofa bed, acting as if it was the same thing. The room itself was also dirty. There were stains on the chairs, the sofa, and the rug, which was absolutely disgusting. The neighborhood was another major issue. Throughout the night, people were yelling outside, police cars drove by with their sirens on, and at 4:30 a.m. someone blasted music at full volume. To make matters worse, the street outside smelled strongly of urine when we walked out. Yuck! Overall, this was a very disappointing stay, and I would not recommend this hotel.

Be aware that this hotel is on the border of the Tenderloin District, where there are many homeless people. One night at 3:30am someone parked themselves right underneath our hotel room window (we were on the 3rd floor up from from the sidewalk) and blasted their playlist on their portable speakers for at least an hour. Then there was an argument with a lot of cussing out on the sidewalk. It is walkable to many things. The rooms are outdated. The shower dripped incessantly no matter how tight we turned the knob. It was priced appropriately for what it was - as they say - you get what you pay for.

My wife and I stayed for the weekend. The hotel was nice. They had wine, cheese and crackers from 4-6pm daily and their breakfast they offer was good. From pastry, yogurt, fresh fruit and quicker oak meal. They offer coffee and tea as well. There are also some nice food places that are walking distance from the hotel if you wish for breakfast or dinner near by. but some info you may want to know. 1: room walls seem thin and we heard everyone walking down the stairs or above us. 2: limited channels on TV like at most 15-20 channels were available. 3: **Most important ** we did Valet parking, their sub service they use is questionable. We checked out at 11:40 did not get our car until 12:40+. It took them an hour to get our car and when ask 20 min they said it’s on the way. This is not on the hotel but since they hired the service I still believe it falls on them. Over it was a good weekend and stay just some bumps.
