Parking fee was not made aware charged 91 dollars for "oversized" car. It was just a toyota tundra pick up truck. Charged resort fee but there is no resort there

Know that workers are striking across the street at the Hyatt. Between 8:00am - 10:00pm the noise is unbearable. Hold off on booking here for another 90 days. Expedia should know this; also know they charge a resort fee. Something else that Expedia should note. This is a pernicious fee that just inflates the daily rate.

Pros: Very clean and well-appointed hotel. Bed and linens very comfortable. Staff was excellent and very polite—especially housekeeping. They did a tremendous job. David in the bar was wonderful. Our room was beautiful and spacious, although not what we originally booked. Hotel restaurant was excellent. Cons: Room originally booked was described as having a city view and featured a picture of a woman sitting on a window seat and looking out at an unobstructed blue sky. Many rooms, although described as “city view” do NOT have a city view. Our room looked nothing like what I had expected and the window faced another building. Standard rooms are quite small. We upgraded to a suite, which was beautiful and more in line with expectations (frankly it way surpassed them.) The hotel was under construction and the bar/restaurant is not directly connected to the hotel and there is no washroom available. The surrounding area has a real homeless problem, which I know isn’t the fault of the hotel, but it’s disturbing. However the hotel is close to excellent bars, restaurants, and historic locations.

Felt at home with staff and surroundings. The gym was on a terrace with an enclosed canopy and felt cool in the morning. The hotel was pleasant and holds an amicable somewhat historic vibe. I would stay encore when returning to SF.

Nice hotel and good condition of the room. Bed was comfy. The staff was friendly and helpful as well. The issue was a very loud UniteHERE strike protest at the Grand Hyatt across the street. Several Union Square hotel chains having similar issues. Not the Campton Place’s fault but it still affected the comfort level. Fortunately it ended at 10 pm. Started up again at 7 am the following morning. The gym was very nice - they use a covered outdoor patio so cool temp.

The restaurant and bartender were beyond PHENOMENAL, food delicious and such amazing energy and care at the bar!! The hotel room, however, had a horrible smell. I woke up to the worst sewer smell coming out of my bathroom. So overall decent stay- I will definitely come back to visit the bar but probably wouldn’t stay in the rooms.

Wonderful hotel with VERY CLEAN room and helpful staff. Loved the Indian inspired food selections and would’ve loved to have tried some of them but only stayed one night. ONLY negative was why leave an ice bucket in the room when there wasn’t an ice machine on the floor. THAT SAID, they quickly brought us ice. Great stay.

Great location, rooms are quiet for SF, but you can hear showers running in the floors above. I am a light sleeper so I was up as soon as the first shower of the day started (5:45am). With a sound machine or ear plugs it would be the best deal for the price in SF. Room is so clean and bed is great. They need to update their TVs, but not a big deal as there’s plenty to do in the city besides watch TV.

It’s been years since I last visited Campton Place (now Taj Campton Place). I have fond memories of birthdays and luncheons here, so I booked a one-night stay while in town for a friend’s birthday. Sadly, the experience was underwhelming. The lobby felt outdated, not refreshed. I was “upgraded” to an accessible room, which only meant a bigger bathroom. The room itself was dark, dreary, and had no view. The shower was broken (quickly fixed after we reported it), but the sinks drained poorly. Noise insulation was nonexistent — we were woken by slamming doors in the hallway. The saving grace was the service. Every staff member we encountered was excellent — warm, engaging, and helpful. Late checkout was granted easily, and the doorman even walked us around the corner while giving local advice. Walking around San Francisco was bittersweet. The city has changed; while there are visible improvements with police presence and street cleaning, the charm has faded. I went inside Neiman Marcus, once my favorite stop, and while the building is still stunning, the store no longer had its old glamour. Many nearby buildings were vacant, adding to the sense of decline. Overall: service shines, but the hotel feels neglected, with outdated rooms and poor soundproofing. I’d consider returning only if Taj invests in upgrades. For now, it’s a shadow of what it used to be.

The staff were very nice and welcoming. The room was generally quiet, with the exception of some noise from the elevator. There was a bathtub in the room, but the water only came from the showerhead, so I wasn’t able to use it for a bath. The pillows were a bit flat for my preference. The internet connection was slow at times, with occasional difficulty connecting and an inconsistent signal. Overall, the stay was comfortable and met my needs.

I thought the people there were lovely and helpful. My room was very dark and had one window facing an ally and also right next door to the elevator which I really don’t like. So it was loud. And once I got to the room I was too tired to see if I could change it but I did feel like I maybe got the worst room in the hotel. But again everyone was lovely and if I had to be there more that one night I would have tried to switch.

The staff were all unbelievably kind, on another level. I worked at Disney and know a think or two about good guest service, but these folks felt genuine. Dan at the door helped us with everything we needed. We didn’t look like the other clientele. We were scrappy little punk emos taking up space in a refined lobby and they still treated us with the upmost kindness and respect. We wanted an early check in and it wasn’t available. As soon as they could they got us in 30 minutes before check in and upgraded our view for our patience. I will be staying here again no questions asked.

I have only great things to say about the property - clean, spacious, quiet, great location, pleasant staff and good value. What’s keeping me from giving 5 stars is their billing practices. One week later, there is still a room hold charge of +$400 on my card, despite the bill being paid in full (also on my card). Plus a food & beverage credit is still not reflected. I’ve called the hotel twice and was told to be patient. This is not okay! I have never experienced this with a hotel before and I have traveled extensively.

In the 50 plus years of visiting San Francisco, I can't believe I missed this hotel jewel. From the moment we arrived, the doorman, Gilbert greeted us with a warm smile as did the front desk staff, only to be overshadowed by Dan, who retrieved our car from Valet before we even called and had it waiting for us in a nice cool location next to the hotel. Everyone called us by our names which made us feel special. That being said, no one made us feel more special than David in the Bistro bar. He could write a book on service. In addition to that, the steak dinner in the restaurant was prepared to perfection as were the fresh vegetables and other items for half of what you expect to pay in San Francisco. I would give the Taj Campton Place even more stars if I could and it will certainly be my place of choice on future visits to S.F. Thank you !

Rooms were decent sized and very well appointed. Not much in terms of views but that was fine. Staff was excellent and the cafe / lounge is very good. Any concerns about the neighborhood are long gone. Was great to walk around. Good to see SF bouncing back!

Very nice hotel in excellent location near many attractions. Quiet given the location. The Bombay Brassiere serves a great fixed price dinner, a bit on the spicy side. Prices are a bit high, but not surprising given the location and the current economy.

We were not informed with the time of booking that type of room that we booked did not face union Square. We did not get high floors as requested although we booked several months ago. The bed and pillows were very uncomfortable. They have the old spring beds in these hotel rooms. The furniture is dated. The rooms need serious renovation. Water backs up in the shower stall. The restaurants on property have terrible service.

As the property was currently undergoing renovation, there were a few inconviences that the staff and service worked hard to overcome. The room was very luxurious with nice upmarket spa features. The one exception to our stay was the breakfast experience. A "complimentary" continental breakfast consisted of coffee or tea served in takeout cups, and a solitary muffin on a napkin (no seating; it was in a foyer.) The actual restaurant you had to exit outside and go around the side of the building to enter it via a side entrance. The set breakfast was $30, which was not too bad, but we didn't have time for it. Instead we ordered ala carte. A bowl of fruit brought unsolicited to us each cost us $15 each, and a breakfast of a bagel with salmon, and avocado toast with coffee and tea cost over $100 with a mandatory service charge. Even for San Francisco that was steep. However, the food was delicious and the service was outstanding.
