La Luna Inn, an Ascend Collection Hotel

Staff was very nice. We were able to check in a little early. Room was spacious and clean. Coffee and a fridge in the room is a plus. Will definitely come back.

The hotel is convenient, closed to visitor sites. Rooms are clean. Free parking right outside the hotel rooms. It may be little noisy since it’s on a major road, but acceptable.

Hotel is conveniently located to Goldon Gate Bridge and easy to get to. Free parking is definitely a plus. Beds were a little stiff for my liking but hotel was clean. Would return in the future.

Stayed here when my friend visiting from North Carolina. We had the best time walking to palace of fine arts from the hotel. Lots of great restaurants near by too. Great location and love the free included parking.

This place was exactly what I need, large, clean and comfortable and quiet, free on site parking and close to UCSF for a surgery my mother was having. It was safe and within walking distance to most everything. The prices were very reasonable and having a mini fridge in the room and coffee was great. Would recommend and stay here again.

From start to end our stay at La Luna was a great choice. We were within walking distance to the Palace of Fine Arts and it’s gardens. Also close by was The Marina where you can go for a beautiful photo op of the Golden Gate Bridge. The hotel was very clean, rooms were spacious, friendly staff, parking available and an elevator, all convenient amenities. Definitely would stay again.

Looks like the whole place was redone and it was really nice. Safe area. FREE PARKING!!! Close to Pier 93 and the Presidio. Honestly couldn’t have asked for more especially for the price. Room is tiny with no microwave but who cares! So much to explore no time to be in the room anyway! Front desk was so accommodating for us. Definitely will be back

You truly get what you pay for. Rooms looks nothing like the photos. Rooms are dim, humid and smell. Comments about the bed are very accurate. Incredibly hard and hot. My first room was littered with fruit flies and mosquitoes. I had killed 4 within the first 10 minutes. I had to ask twice before being switched to a second room; however it still had the odd fly and ant. The shower was disgusting. I had to wear shoes in.

I stayed here one night to see a show at the Palace of Fine Arts and it was a very convenient spot for that. I was able to walk to the venue and felt totally safe doing so. The person at the front desk was great, friendly and helpful. There was plenty of free self-parking, though spaces were on the smaller side as is the norm in SF. The room itself had an overwhelming musty chemical smell, like stale cleaning supplies. I had to open both windows immediately to let it air out. It was nice being able to open windows, but I was also a single female-presenting person in a downstairs room with a big window facing the parking lot / street so that didn't help with feeling safe. The neighborhood itself didn't feel unsafe though. People in the hotel and the surrounding area were really loud in the middle of the night. Sounded like a bunch of drunk people came back around last call, slamming doors and laughing, and someone was singing and yelling into a bullhorn at one point. I was up late anyway and put ear plugs in and it was fine, but if you need a quiet night this might not be the best option. I also noticed the shower seemed to be leaking water under the floorboards, so that might have been the source of the musty smell. And the chair at the desk was really gross - covered in stains. I put a towel on it before sitting down. Everything else seemed clean though.

The staff was friendly and courteous. The bed was big and comfortable, the room was clean. Only complaint is the vent in the restroom was so loud and would make this clunking noise after you shut it off. Love that it was so close to Crissy Fields, and event we came to SF for. The short run/walk to view the Golden Gate Bridge was a bonus. Plenty of restaurants to choose from close by.

There was a baby roach in my room!!!

We found several cockroaches after staying for 1 night.

Service was good and also the parking was free. But the walls are so thin, you can hear your neighbor, breathing. We had ants in our room. You can also hear the streets, like the cars would drive through your room.

It’s not a quite place being right on the HWY , and the walls are thin so you hear your neighbors.. they did the best they could with what they had to work with..

The room was a lot darker than I expected, and the bathroom was tiny. However, it was very clean and convenient, we had plenty of coffee and a nice coffee maker in the room. Check in was easy and the guy on the desk was friendly. It it 2 minutes from a bus stop and 5-10 minute walk from a load of restaurants and cafes. I would stay there again.

Worst bed ever

Overall ok. A little loud being right next to a busy street. But nice area of town and safe. Room looked good. Beds were a bit stiff

Property is tired and so dark

The street noise was brutal. Kept me up all night. Lombard street just flows all the time with Golden Gate Bridge traffic. Just awful. Would never stay there again as a result.

Great location and price.The room was okay, the bathroom a bit outdated, but the noise insulation not existent. We could hear everything from people walking in the room above, people talking outside the room and vehicles on the road. Definitely not suggested for someone with light sleep.

The location was very convenient for where my business meeting was being held. However, the TV wasn’t working because it’s directly supported by Internet service and the Internet was not working, so I found it difficult to even work without having to use a hotspot. Then when I took a shower, the water in the bathtub would not drain the room smell overly saturated like cleaning agents, specifically bleach. I found the front desk of some of the challenges all this sorry have a great day and didn’t have the energy in me to complaint further and try to get a refund or a discount.

The television did not work -- the front guest let us know it is a persistent issue. Upsetting to book a room with a television that doesn't even work. The neighbors were either VERY loud, or there is little to no noise reduction in the building (one night you could very clearly hear explicit content coming through the wall, and the other night someone was playing music that could be heard well into the night). The shower had difficulty draining. When checking in, they prompted to tell us there was a security deposit that would be refunded, but we saw no refunds and it was not made clear if that was on our original charge or not so it's difficult to refute. The bedding had some odd scuffs and marks on it but luckily were just on the comforter. All in all, it was somewhere to sleep for a few nights but not somewhere I would stay at again.

The staff was great. Very welcoming and helpful. However, that was the best part of our experience. The room we stayed in looked nothing like any of the rooms pictured. The rooms pictured look like that of pretty renovated rooms. We got a room that looked somewhat renovated but for the most part it was old and dingy. The bed and pillows were old and uncomfortable. The restroom was cramped and old. Walls were thin and we could hear neighbors. The room had a window that we could not close. Parking was tight but thats everywhere in san francisco . Overall we will likely not be staying here ever again.

Great place. Rented 2 rooms. They were fine, perfect for sleeping after a long day of exploring. Staff was outstanding. Helpful and accommodating and very responsive. I would stay here again if I was visiting the Bay Area with my family.

The counter staff was very helpful in accommodating by bag to be left there for 2 days before check-in while was travelling to another destination. Delivery package to the premises was well received as well. Good service.

This property is two blocks from a funky casual eats area. The property is on a main street so you will hear the traffic and garbage day is very noisy. The staff were very friendly and helpful and even helped mail back a personal item I left behind. The room was small but clean and the water pressure in the shower was excellent. Felt safe and was easily able to walk around town and jump on the bus to the more populated touristy areas. Coffee pods in the rooms, comfortable bed and great on site parking. The price is right for this quaint hotel on the brink of a this big city.

Honestly, the only nice things about this place are the location being in a nicer, safer area, and the free parking. Key maker hasn't working the entire stay so every time we came back to our room, we had to get someone at the front desk to unlock our door for us. You can tell it's cheap, and its what you'd expect for the price of it. Bed was big but insanely uncomfy. You could tell paint was chipped everywhere, pretty shabby. You get what you pay for I guess.

On the good side. The staff were nice, the bed was comfortable, and the location was great. Other than that, this was nothing like it is pictured. The bathroom was barely big enough for an adult to fit in. The shower was very dark as there was no light it and it was tucked in a corner. The first room we got had a broken toilet and the second room they then moved us too reeked of cigarettes. The bathrooms look nothing like the pictures in this add. There are not counter tops on or around the sinks and you can barely sit on the toilet unless you sit side ways as an adult. Also on top of that they deactivated our key card twice during our stay because they accidentally checked us out early, twice.

The La Luna is an excellent 2 star motel. It was overpriced because there was a major convention in San Francisco when I stayed. Also, on Expedia it said that reception was manned until 2 AM. I called the La Luna six times the day before because i expected to arrive close to 2 AM. I called during regular business hours and no one ever answered. This said, the room was clean and functional, the bed was comfortable, the bathroom was well stocked and shower pressure was good.

This hotel is the best value for the money in the Bay Area! It’s walkable to great restaurants, and tourist destinations.

It’s very closed by the Palace of Fine arts. It is walking distance, one can see the part of the Golden Bridge on a clear day. Lots of restaurants on Chestnut st. Safe to walk around. Hop on Bus stop is near by and local bus transportation available on Lombard

Perfecttt location if you’re avoiding downtown / looking for a safe and clean neighborhood. Very cute coffeeshops, stores, workout studios and parks nearby. It’s all about location. Room was fine - dark/lighting isn’t great, AC worked well, very thin walls, good water pressure, felt updated. Would stay again.

This is a safe, quiet area with good restaurants and shopping within walking distance. We enjoyed our stay!

This was a great spot for an overnight. I had everything I needed; the staff was friendly and professional, it was clean, and the wifi was strong enough for my remote work. I didn't explore the area much, but there's plenty around if someone needed that. They do not have a breakfast option.
