Lots of extra charges. Room service rates are exorbitant but additional charges here and there. Felt like we were being nickel and dimed after already paying 300-400 for a room per night. Valet parking is $77 per night. We street parked 20 seconds away for free. Room was ok, lobby area was good with games to play.

This property was great. They let us check in early, we felt safe and the bar and wait staff were friendly and attentive. I would stay here again, however I think I am done with San Francisco. Love Marriott properties.

My wife and I really liked this hotel. Very kind and professional staff. Room service, bar service, desk staff were all great, super helpful. Had a nice gym. Everything was well maintained and very clean. We would stay again when we are back in SF. Only thing I didn’t like was that there were a lot of sirens at night with emergency vehicles passing (not really something they can control). It didn’t impact my sleep after the first night but it bothered my wife who is a light sleeper.

The property is beautiful, the rooms are comfortable and clean, although they don’t change the towels or sheets during your stay. Most of the staff was friendly, the hotel feels safe and secure. Our big letdown was the parking situation, they only offer valet parking, Even for guests - which is $73 a night. Guests staying here aren’t paying a cheap price, we even have to pay for resort fees, self parking is the least they could offer, knowing very well there is nowhere else to park around the hotel.

If you are going to valet your car, prepare for the sticker shock. It’s $72 per day. The hotel’s club lounge has been closed for years due to the pandemic and never reopened… the pandemic is technically “over” but they don’t disclose the club room closure until check in. At check-in around 11am, we were told our room was not available… which is fine… and we would get a text message when the room was ready. I got no text message and the room wasn’t ready until after 4. My friend and I were surprised. They also have restrictive hours for room service which were abysmally inconvenient. I called them on a Sunday to have lunch delivered to the room around 2:30pm and they didn’t have room service available. The gym was ok. The quality and service from this hotel does not align with what one expects from a JW Marriott.

Couch in the suite was disgusting. Very dirty. Staff was great and very accommodating. Bring your own blow dryer, was less than 2 feet long. Had to bend over to use it and it kept falling out of the wall. Probably won’t return

The JW Marriott at Union Square is a wonderful hotel. I stayed at many hotels in San Francisco in the past, the JW Marriott is one of the best that I stayed in, the other being the Fairmont. The JW Marriott is conveniently located on walk-in distance to Union Square. It looks newly renovated. Everything is impeccably clean. The decor is modern and beautiful. The lobby, elevator and hallways look modern and everything looks new and clean. The elevators are fast, have a view of the lobby and there is no wait for them. The room is spacious and modern. The be decor is fantastic. The beds are very comfortable. The bathroom is very large, modern and the shower is great. The amenities are excellent. All in all an excellent experience . I will stay there again in the future

The heating and air conditioning of the room needs serious repair. I felt suffocated in the room. The fan does not stay on all the time no matter what setting you choose. It was hard to stay alive.

There were only two chairs in the room, a high one with a back and a high one with no back. Both were uncomfortable. You could not sit in them and read a book. And where am I supposed to sit to put on my shoes? Both chairs are too high. I could not find anything called "shampoo" in the bath room. "Body wash," yes, but no "shampoo." And, of course, food in the hotel was at eye-watering levels. $40 for breakfast, $6 for a cup of coffee. Two breakfast restaurants are only a block away. Go there. The HVAC sound was so intrusive that I turned it off. We reserved for two nights, but left after one because my wife became ill. The hotel nevertheless charged us for both nights, and put a $782.80 "reserve" on my credit card, even though the final charge (which I paid as I left) was only $537.09. The hotel also charged $29.06 for the first day\'s "destination charge" as soon as we checked in. The "free" Internet is free only if you join BonVoy for $14.99, I was told at the hotel. On-line advertising says that BoyVoy is free, so what is it? I get free internet at $89 a night hotels in Arkansas, so why do I have to pay in San Francisco? Finally, the $25 a night "destination fee." It can be applied against restaurant charges at the hotel, which forces you to eat there in order to recoup the fees. Why not jut add the "fee" to the room rate, rather than calling it something else?

Breakfast didn't start until 630; if I have an early morning flight, then I won't be able to have breakfast. Most concerning was how loud the room was. The windows are so thin it's like they aren't there. I did not sleep a wink with all the sirens and trucks going by. It's not bad for a regular Marriott property but it DEFINITELY doesn't qualify as a JW property.

Most of the staff was professional and courteous. There was an instance during happy hour where my friend waited over 30 minutes to order a drink only for the bartender to never take the order. My other friend had to directly confront the bartender to ensure we all had our orders.

Overall, it was a comfortable stay. It is conveniently situated at the union square, just minutes away by walk to most of the touristy areas. Lots of cousine in the neighbourhood. Ubers, Waymo are all easily available. And musical playhouse is just across the street in 50m!!!!! Bathroom is spacious which is especially good for families with kids.

Great location with easy access to all the local spots. Rooms were well kept, and up to date. Staff was wonderful and helpful. Would definitely recommend staying here! We did not rent a car but used ride share, so no opinion on parking or valet, but ride share worked fine for us.

This was my first time staying at the JW Marriott in San Francisco, though I'm a big fan of Marriott Bonvoy hotels; this location and venue did not disappoint. Staff was knowledgeable, extremely friendly and helpful. I was there for a tradeshow, and while full of others there for the same show, it was much more quiet and peacful to conduct meetings. The in-room dining was average and quite pricey - but comparable to other hotels in the area. I will stay there again for sure

The property sells rates with BREAKFAST INCLUDED and it was a decisive factor in my reservation. However I felt deceived and disappointed when o arrived and was told that in fact there is not breakfast included but a credit of 20$ per person to spend on breakfast. Note that 20$ credit in a place where a coffee is 10$, it’s not enough. It’s ok to offer a credit, once it’s clear that is only a credit. But the property sells as “breakfast included”. I was told that I would apply my “destination guest credit” of $10 per day on breakfast as well, but when I tried to use it the restaurant was not able to apply 30$ credit, and on checkout the receptionist mentioned the he would remove the difference o my invoice, but I just saw the amount was not removed on my credit card. The costumer service was kind trying to minimize the impacts, but the resolution was not applied. Take care: breakfast included rate to JW San Francisco doesn’t mean breakfast included, but a small credit.

Properly was clean and tidy. Staff polite and friendly. Beds very comfortable and great view, love the windows. Didn't like extra charges, we'd paid for breakfast but still had to pay extra each day as they only give you $60 credit for 2 people, which doesn't cover very much or include gratuity.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the JW Marriott Union Square. We found the staff to be exceptionally friendly and helpful. JC who was the bellhop/valet was accommodating and hospitable. The front desk staff made our stay extra enjoyable. We enjoyed the daily specials and the restaurant was very nice. We look forward to staying there in the future!

JW Marriott exceeded our expectations. The destination fee is well worth it. They offered $25 off on Level 3 restaurant, they have free cocktail hour, free desserts and tote bag. They gave 2 cable car tickets which was nice. Also, Level 3 restaurant served delicious food. We were able to meet the executive chef, Renato, and was able to talk to us about the brief history of the hotel and the food and the transition of management. Thanks to Chef Renato, Banjo, Michelle and Emily for taking care of us during dinner time. Awesome staff and excellent location in Union Square. This will be my place to stay when in SFO. From the housekeeper, front desk, valet and Level 3 restaurant staff, we had an amazing and excellent stay. The room was in pristine and luxurious condition and well kept. I love JW Marriott Union Square. My new home when in SFO. Experience it yourself.
