This hotel (Hilton Garden Inn San Leandro) (Sep_2025) has a friendly staff and the high cleanliness and room accommodation standards of the franchise. Overlooks a major interchange (880) but even the highway side was not overly noisy. Access from Lewelling Blvd was a bit of a puzzle. Many restaurants and stores nearby. Small exercise room with treadmills and a few weights (accessible all hours) next to small indoor pool. Optional breakfast buffet available but not widely used. Cashless front desk. Maid service normally every other day. Highway traffic is consistently heavy. Very pleasant stay.

Room was good. Coffee maker was missing but didn’t need it. Chose the hotel because of the indoor pool but the water was too cold for use. Had the same issue last time we stayed there so we probably won’t stay again.

The staff was excellent very nice and accommodating.. the only problem I had was the fact that the restaurant and bar were closed all weekend except for breakfast . Which was 18$I think that is an excessive price for breakfast..

Negatives: Website doesn’t show the reality of this hotel. Unsafe area, elevator smell like mix of smoke and urine, room was found with hairs on bed, socks & other junk stuff laying around possibly left from previous visitors. Bath towels were dirty, good thing I always care my own. Parking unsafe. Positives: Front desk Staff polite. Lobby looks nice.

My only complaint about the property was the room feeling. The room had an odd smell, the bed linens didn’t smell fresh. Otherwise for 19 bucks, the breakfast buffet was pretty good with pancakes and French toast. Parking was easy and included, which was nice. I only stayed for 1 night so I didn’t feel it necessary to complain about the room freshness.

My experience was impacted by the noise level in the first room I was given. Unfortunately, my original room was facing the freeway, and the traffic noise was constant throughout the night. The walls also seemed quite thin, so I could hear people in neighboring rooms and hallway activity. As a light sleeper, I didn’t get much—if any—sleep that first night, which made for a rough start to my trip. On the bright side, the hotel staff were very understanding and accommodating when I brought up the issue. They quickly helped me move to a quieter room on the other side of the building for the remainder of my stay. The new room was much better in terms of noise, and I appreciated the prompt assistance. Booked a room of two queens, on a floor with no animals. Received a king room on the second floor with animals. Took 45 minutes to make the change moved to the fourth floor and put $100 worth of food in the refrigerator from BJ’s that spoiled because the refrigerator was broken. Definitely not a place I would stay in again! Very disappointed!!!

Our main reason coming to California was for a concert in Oakland but we were being tourist in San Francisco for 2 days prior to Fridays stay in Oakland. Compared to San Francisco, Oakland gets an A+ for friendliness, cleanliness and space. The hotel staff was super friendly and genuine, it was so nice to be treated with kindness and genuine curiosity. If we ever visit California we are staying in Oakland at this hotel!

I had a good day, but at the end, it was horrible a receptionist by the name of Melissa she was very rude. She was not accommodating. I didn’t get my some of my stuff refunded like I wanted to, and I would like to speak to corporate if possible.

Everything Was World Class,,,,, With The Exception of The COLD Morning Breakfast. Eggs, Potatoes, Cold Bacon with Lard, and Cold Sausage Unfortunately We’re Paid For, By Third Party Reservations, and NOT Refundable. Hilton is First Class, and Hopefully This is Just a One Time Experience. Once Again,,,,, The Check-In Service By Sidney and His Hotel Staff Was Amazing and The Cleanliness Remarkable !!!

Upon checking I was told there was a continental breakfast for free. Next morning my wife and I got a bowl of cereal and a banana and coffee and they charged me 35.50 and would not adjust. Full breakfast was 42! Not happy….

The property was quieter inside than expected because it's very close to the freeway. The elevator has a very pungent odor. The service in the onsite restaurant on our arrival night was dismal. Very poor employee. We skipped eating breakfast there because of it.
