Quality Suites Downtown San Luis Obispo

Very friendly service, including at breakfast. Manager’s reception with free drink was well attended each of the two nights we were there. Room spoless. Very dog friendly. There’s access to a natural area going down to the creek at the end of the hotel which was nice for walks with our dog.

The courtyard area around the pool was very pleasant. Along with the happy hour and barbecue it made it a nice way to spend the evening instead of in our room or spending money at restaurant.

Definitely pleased with our visit. Room was clean and comfortable. We utilized the pool, gym, free breakfast, fire pits and lots of outdoor seating to just hang out play games or sit and read. They also have free Happy Hour drinks for adults and kids from 5:30 to 7:30pm each night and a nice BBQ pit serving food at the same time and everything is under $14. Quick walk to food and a 5 min drive to down town San Luis Obispo. Staff was amazing. Very sweet and accomodating. It was a great experience. We will definitely be back.

Overall we had a great stay. The property offered many amenities such as drinks, a 24 hour market, and complimentary breakfast. The only drawback was the parking. We got in fairly late and the parking was pretty full and spots were tight. Otherwise, the room was spacious and clean.

Complimentary wine and beer for a couple of hours during early evenings. Complimentary breakfast as well. Downtown SLO is within walking distance. Overall it was a very pleasant experience. The property and pool area are beautifully landscaped with many sitting areas, fountains, a fireplace and pathways. The breakfast is hearty, and happy hour is well attended. If you prefer to sit inside, the lobby is comfortable and cozy with a large fireplace. The bar area also has seating, free beer, wine and soda during happy hour and tea and coffee throughout the daytime and evening. The rooms are remodeled and comfortable. The staff is professional and friendly. It’s always an enjoyable stay.

Older hotel, rooms have been redone but still show some wear. Grounds are nice, as is lobby. Had free hot chocolate packets for kids in lobby with hot cocoa, marshmallows. Great walkability to downtown SLO. Nice pool and spa area, always empty when we were there.

The key thing that affected us was hair in the room left all across the bathroom which just indicates that the room was not throughly cleaned. We were too tired to go and discuss this. The property is a bit old, but seems to have been renovated. Overall, not something we want to experience again.

Always clean and friendly, perfect breakfast.

This is a “pet friendly” hotel. Our room smelled like cat pee unfortunately. There was also noticeable cat hair around in different areas. It’s nice to give people a place to stay if they have animals. But I think the cleaning standards should account for this and attempt to leave no trace of animals whatsoever for the next guest.

The staff was very nice, however the room was surface level clean. The living room table has wheels and it was accidentally bumped into and under it a chocolate chip and potato chips came flying from under the table. The hand towels had dead bugs embedded and the sheets had stains.

Our room was filthy. The floor had hair and food crumbs all over it and clearly had not been cleaned. We won't stay here again.

One night stay traveling through. Had to switch rooms twice because found carpet beetles in the first two rooms. Also found one in the third room, but didn't have much options because the site was full. The first two rooms were adjoining, and the last was in proximity. The sliding patio door didn't fully close in all rooms. The rooms and fixtures were dated and in need of an upgrade, as I believe is in the works. Otherwise, staff was accommodating, room was quiet and area was walkable. I believe other accommodations in the area were in similar conditions.

Very clean room, new shower. Clean lobby and breakfast café. Very nice breakfast offered and the kitchen staff was very friendly. Zero complaints and would definitely stay here again

Our room was very comfortable & nicely refurbished. We loved the rain shower head, large bathroom & extra TV in the lounge area. The breakfast provided was great & the options were plentiful.

The first night was marred by having to listen to the sound of water plopping into the sink drain in our room until we moved the next day. The sound was coming from a condensate tube from the air conditioning unit. The staff was able to change our room to another without this "feature." The beds were comfortable and the room was spacious. The included "buffet" breakfast was fairly limited but okay.

The rooms are very large with separate living room. The bed is very comfortable, and the shower has a very strong water flow. The complimentary happy hour each night is a great addition, and the complimentary breakfast each morning is substantial with many choices. The property is walking distance to the Higuera Street in San Luis Obispo where you’ll find many shops and restaurants.

Everything good, besides sound insulation.

Walls were paper thin - you could hear the neighbors in every direction, and any time a door closed in the building. The sheets were wrinkled as if someone had slept in them and the floors were not clean. I wouldn't stay there again.

Room set up was rather awkward. Not much of a kitchen. Balcony was a joke. No place to actually sit and it overlooked the outer parking lot. Felt like a bait-and-switch after selecting that room.

Great location. The most uncomfortable pull out bed we've ever slept on. AC stopped working in main area last day and would not go below 74 which made it impossible to sleep. Staff at front desk was nice about issue but no effort was made to offer a credit just to notify maintenance which was to late as we were checking out. Breakfast was really good and staff in kitchen were very friendly.

Wonderful and knowledgeable staff at check-in and at desk. Very neat and clean. The housekeeping staff also were very polite and offered fresh towels daily. The central area with pool, plants. and lovely trees added to the visual enjoyment of our lodging. Thanks, again to all of the staff!

Came to check in at 3:50 but turned away and told to come back at 4pm. Encountered a cricket and spider, alive, in my second floor room; along with a dead spider in the unused coffee cups. On a positive note, the standard king bed was very comfortable and the vicinity was quiet. The patio outside the room was a nice feature. Our room was (presumably) wrong stocked with 2 shampoo bottles and 1 conditioner, so we didn’t have any soap for shower. Breakfast was two options for hot entrees with no refills and was dried out. The self-serve continental portion was well stocked and fresher. Overall mediocre property in my opinion due to the multiple inconveniences.

Really enjoyed our stay. Great amenities. Enjoyed the breakfast and manager’s hour. Service was exceptional and workers were very friendly. If ever back in the area, I will definitely stay there again.

First off, I want to thank the staff of the Quality Suites Hotel in San Luis Obispo, for helping create a special memory we now have, of one of stops along our 45th anniversary trip. When booking hotels, I look not only for great reviews of potential properties to stay, but also look for comments that describe the interactions with staff. Expedia had numerous reviews/comments of how beautiful the property is, which I wholeheartedly agree with. The lobby is the first thing that greets travelers, and I must say it is very festive and welcoming. Our room (3rd floor King suite) was wonderfully decorated, and had a wonderful feeling of being home. The breakfast was amazing, with a choice of freshly cooked scrambled eggs, thick bacon and sausage, or a breakfast burrito. The amenities were the whole package, to say the least! As comfortable and accommodating the property is, what really touched my heart was the staff, as they truly were the gems during our stay, and I feel ARE the true gems of the property. From the first moment we were greeted by the front door staff as we walked into the lobby, we felt welcomed and appreciated, and this extended to our interaction with Mack from maintenance, who had to make a quick repair to a small leak in the bathroom, and on to the next morning when the sweet smiling cook asked for our breakfast order and wished us a good day, and lastly to at checkout staff This is a must stay place if you are looking for a place in the SLO area!

Easily one of the noisiest hotel rooms I’ve stayed in. People in the next room talking, people outside talking, people walking around upstairs, toilets flushing, TV’s in other rooms, you hear it all. Staff seemed disengaged and did nothing about a group of drunk golfers being loud in the courtyard until almost 11pm. They were also unapologetic about some minor issues with the room. I stayed in worse, but I have definitely stayed in better.

Not too close to downtown. Free breakfast closes at 9. Too early if on leisurely vacation. 10 or 11 would be better.

Quality Suites Downtown San Luis Obispo is a wonderful hotel. The rooms are clean and spacious and comfortable. The grounds are awesome as well, with outdoor seating and a pool all kept clean and inviting. We love to walk and the hotel is an easy walk to restaurants, shopping and more. We will be back for sure.

Overall this hotel was a good value for families - clean, spacious and upgraded bathrooms, exterior courtyard and pool were nice, as was the evening reception. However, beware as we got caught off guard by the double beds (and sleeper sofa) being full sized beds instead of queen beds. This made it challenging for our family of 5 to comfortable sleep 2 to a bed or sofa sleeper. The hot breakfast was fairly good but the waffles were super doughy. This was surprising since this can be easily made from a premix. Perhaps the cooks had never tried them (?!) but they were just awful waffles!

This was the first place we stopped on a very long road trip. It was the nicest of all the hotels we stayed at in this price range throughout California, Oregon, and Washington! 100% would return here if we go back to San Luis Obispo again. Beautiful pool, and very generous and delicious breakfast included.

Breakfast used to be great, the cooked to order eggs, omelette, etc. now it is like every other place scrambled eggs, manufactured pastry, mediocre coffee.

They free breakfast selection and kitchen were great. They had a stand for dinner optiond out in the courtyard with reasonable prices. Never seen that. Loved it

Quality Suites was perfect for our 1 night stay in SLO. The rooms were clean and spacious (we had a suite). The lobby and the pool area are really nice with lots of outdoor seating around the pool and a garden area. All members of the staff were friendly and courteous. Breakfast was good with lots of ala carte items. There were also several different offerings of hot items served from a grill so they were hot and fresh. They have a happy hour from 5:30-7:30 with complimentary beer and wine. There are several choices of places to eat within a few blocks walk.

We love this hotel. The entire staff are wonderful and so friendly. The evening manager reception drinks are well received. Plus in the evening the BBQ steak sandwich is the best meal for a quick and filling meal for a busy day of touring around. We also love the breakfast in the morning. Every time we have gone the grounds and the rooms are spotless and relaxing. We will be back to this hotel next time we are in SLO.

This was a big surprise. The staff was excellent which is often the case, but the amenities were off the charts. We had just stayed at a hotel in Davis with charges for parking and breakfast. Here for the “resort fee” we received free internet (which is often all that is included), free parking, a free happy hour with complimentary wine and beer, and the best free breakfast that we have ever had bar none.
