The Study at Yale

This is my favorite hotel while visiting the Yale University campus. The hotel is very clean, reception desk is excellent and courteous. Pets are welcomed, which is always a plus. On site restaurant serves delicious meals. Plus, the hotel serves very early quality tea and coffee service for free. Rooms and sitting area for reading are comfortable and well lite.

Very convenient to the Yale Center for British Art, and the Yale Art Gallery, coffee shops, restaurants within walking distance. Lovely hotel, very comfortable with bar and restaurant. Would definitely go back.

Great hotel bar to watch baseball, solid breakfast. Valet was really easy and friendly, def worth the cost vs parking at a city garage. Loved the ginger snaps at check-in

Easy to reach from highway. Valet parking in a great area known for difficulties in parking. Warmth and care from the young and eager staff. Great food. Excellent bar.

I liked the lobby study where there was free coffee early in the am.

I enjoyed the facility. The majority of the staff were very helpful but two not so much. Challenges I faced were with getting bags into a minivan on check out day, they were literally piled onto the seats of our minivan. Also the computer in the common area could not print on the printer and I needed to print confidential content so I could not benefit from the access to the printer. Moreover, the internet was inaccessible on the computer on 7.1.23. That was odd given the caliber of the facility.

The Study is a fabulous hotel, with a great restaurant, helpful staff, and as a bonus, electric car charging! I would definitely stay there again!

The valet service was terrible. It took 40 minutes and a manager for me to get my car.

The hotel (part of a chain) has a stylish modern decor. The lobby, where coffee is available all day near a library of interesting books, is a popular, quiet place for guests to relax, work or read. The front desk staff are very friendly, efficient and accommodating, as are the valet parking attendants. The hotel has its own restaurant (breakfast was expensive and not great) but there are other restaurants and popular chains a walk away. We would gladly stay at the hotel again. However, we were placed on the second floor in a room facing the back with a terrible "view" -- looking out on a concrete roof with metal air vents and other apparatuses. Be sure to request a room on a high floor.

The staff is always so nice and welcoming but our room did not meet my cleanliness standards and there was someone else’s hair on the bedside table along with a lot of dust.

Nice clean contemporary convenient

Was given a room on the second floor with the exhaust fans from the kitchens immediately outside the windows. There should not be a room in that location. I asked to move rooms and they were helpful and switched me. Hotel is nice, but a little shabby around the edges...carpet stains, roughed up furniture...but OK for a brief stay.

Usually I love staying at The Study, however this trip was an exception. I stayed in room 302 which faces the street. It was extremely loud on a Friday night, lots of motorcycles and music throughout the night. I know this is not their fault, but next time I will ask for another location. The issue was that after a night of little sleep, housekeeping knocked on my door at just after 8am on a Saturday morning. This was not acceptable. After I replied, they did not knock again but instead hollered to one another down the hall and let guestroom doors slam shut. And so, I was up for the day at 8:30. Very annoying. And when I checked out, I arrived at the front desk, there was no greeting, no "hello how was your stay", just the guy looking at me waiting for me to tell him I was checking out. Also not very pleasant. And this after paying about $400. I hope they speak with the staff and improve these issues.

This is a fine hotel, but I would recommend the Graduate next door over it. The advantage of this hotel is the desk in the room, but the graduate has nicer rooms, including the bathroom, refrigerators, more character and better common spaces. Rooms here are worn in places.

Tidy and comfortable rooms in a great location in the center of New Haven just steps away from lots of restaurants and the Yale Campus. The black-out blinds were excellent, but my one (very minor) complaint is that the air conditioning was quite loud.

The location truly can’t be beat—right in the heart of Yale’s campus and walkable to all the cute shops and eateries New Haven has to offer. That part lived up to expectations. But for $300 a night, we were disappointed by the lack of basic modern conveniences. No smart TV meant no streaming options to wind down after a day of exploring, and surprisingly, there wasn’t even a mini-fridge in the room—so our dinner leftovers went straight to the trash. For a hotel marketed as refined and boutique, the amenities felt stuck in the past.

Nice hotel. Missing some room amenities like fridge. Also no outlets next to the bed. Awkward if you need, e.g., CPAP machine.

The hotel and room were very nice, but the rooms at the end of the hall are barely 2/3 the size of a standard room. Quite cramped - should be called, and charged as, a junior room…

When I came back to my room in the afternoon, the bed was made, but my pillows were on the floor. I reported this and went out and came back with the pillows on the bed, but I do not think they were clean. Also, the food at heirloom was mediocre. The staff members who are always excellent our Maria and the bartender Ishmael. The valet service is impeccable.

I booked 3 rooms at "The study at Yale" from hotels.com, which include 2 rooms 12/3-12/5/2022. 12/5/2022 morning I requested 2 hours late checkout since we have a disabled senior and 2 young kids, and our flight was after 6pm, but the lady at front desk rejected me. Then I offered to pay our late checkout, she rejected it arrogantly again. I am a Hotels.com Gold member and have benefits include "a two hour late checkout". But if "The Study at Yale" doesn\'t care hotels.com, 3rd part business, I OFFERED paying our late checkout for my disabled husband and 2 young grand daughters. The hotel comment said: the front desk ask everyone of us how was our stay... I don\'t think any one asked me, maybe she asked some family else. I don\'t recommend "The study at Yale". Thanks!

I chose this hotel for my Yale University visit based on a strong recommendation from a friend, who specifically advised me to select a “campus view” room. When I booked a “city view” room on expedia, I contacted the hotel to ask if I could get a campus view, and they replied that they would accommodate my request. I was grateful and looked forward to my stay. However, upon check-in, I was extremely disappointed to see that my room had neither a city view nor a campus view. Two-thirds of my window was blocked by the building across, and all I could see was a rooftop. When I complained, I was told all campus view rooms were sold out. Even more upsetting, I noticed another room being cleaned nearby with a much better view, but they refused to offer that to me. After further complaints, they suggest a suite with $80 or another room on the floor above, but both had the same disappointing rooftop view. If they had been clear from the beginning that a campus view was not guaranteed, I would have canceled and booked another room because I only reason to choose that because view or even a different hotel altogether. I hold a very high tier status with Hilton, so I had no reason to insist on this hotel. I am deeply dissatisfied with the customer service, especially how they gave inaccurate information and made it seem like the issue was my fault. At no point did I receive any sincere apology. The hotel as a physical place and location was awesome however I had 2 rude encounters with the front desk staff -- one of which included a disparaging ageist comment about me personally which was both suprising and uncalled for

Close to Yale Rep Theatre and Art Gallery. Has valet parking.

The staff was great and the hotel itself was lovely and very clean. My only issue is that it was very noisy outside of our room on the street and the area in general felt a little unsafe.

During the day the area is perfectly lovely, during the evening it gets a bit dicey. Be careful…

The rooms are nothing special. Very simple and the bathrooms are small. The lighting in our room was terrible. The bar, restaurant are great and the entire atmosphere of the first floor, but that is where it ends.

The lobby area and restaurant are wonderful. Delicious food, knowledgeable & personable bartender. The rooms leave a lot to be desired. Our room was very small, and it just feels very plain and basic to me.

Great option for a New Haven visit. We had a beautiful view of the Yale campus from our room. Excellent breakfasts! Bar looked inviting, too. Comfortable beds and bathrooms. Highly recommend.

The Study is a lovely boutique hotel in a great location. Heirloom restaurant/bar is great and the staff is very friendly and accommodating. Have stayed here before and will definitely stay here again.

We had a lovely stay at The Study. Our room was quiet, comfortable, and clean. Our only recommendation would be to make breakfast reservations at Heirloom rather than dropping in, as we had to wait on Saturday AM for a table.

The attached restaurant is this property's Achilles heel. Terrible. Great drinks but bad service.
