We had a great time. Free parking was a plus, i really liked the water machine they had, with a cold/sparkling option. We went to happy hour at the bar and the service was excellent.

This hotel is AWESOME! It’s an architectural landmark! I could tell that the exterior looked old and the interior looked new- but I had no idea it was designed by Marcel Breuer (a famous architect). I then found out that the movie “The Brutalist” was based on his work. It’s one of only ten LEED certified platinum hotels in the US. They have a free shuttle (which was a beautiful electric Hyundai). They even had nice bicycles to borrow. I think it was worth paying another $20 to get a room with a water view.

Really nice hotel that was cheaper than our usual hotel when we come to New Haven. Love the sustainability features (glass refillable bottles, refill stations in the hallway, solar panels, LEED Platinum so there are no drafts) and EV chargers (Tesla and others) on site so you can charge up to max capacity overnight. It’s also right off the highway so it’s easy to get to and still only a 5-10 minute drive from Yale. We’ll be back.

Okay, not going to lie, when my husband and I pulled up to this hotel I had to double check that we were at the right address. The outside of the hotel looks like it could’ve been an old prison, and it’s literally in the same parking lot as an IKEA and overlooks an express way. However - don’t judge a book by its cover. This hotel is amazing and probably one of the nicer hotels we’ve ever stayed at. The inside is extremely modern, clean, well kept, and beautiful. The room was spacious and extremely clean. Best bathroom and shower. The room is controlled by a smart device so you can operate the lights, A/C, etc easily. Smart TV has streaming apps. And lots of outlets, USB ports, etc. Great lobby bar and restaurant as well. Location about 5-10 minute drive or bike ride (hotel offers free bike rentals) from main New Haven attractions.

Very nice accommodations except the pillows are terrible. Very green, cold flat/sparkling water machine in the hall, light block automatic blinds, well appointed bathroom. Nice bar and restaurant.

The hotel was clean and sleek with a lot of "smart" features. The room was big, beds were comfortable. The fitness room was a nice size, complete with everything needed for a good workout. The staff I met were very nice.

New and modern hotel. Staff was great. My room was huge but only had view of the Ikea parking lot. The restaurant in the hotel was great. I ended up eating there two nights in a row. Staff was great too. I used to live in the area so this is a great place to stay. Highways 91 & 95 right there.

The hotel is well maintained, the room was pleasant and very clean, the food in the cafe was much better than expected. Service was good throughout. My quibbles: soundproofing is poor, the lights in the room blinked off and on all the time, the light switch in the bathroom has teeny tiny buttons, the hallway on my floor smelled like fried fish.

The Bauhaus design of the hotel is stunning. The staff especially Louie, was lovely and very helpful. However, there is no smart TV in the rooms which in this day and age is unheard of. I took my 15-year-old son for Christmas to the hotel and we were so looking forward to watching a movie on the big screen in this beautiful room and we ended up having to watch a movie on his phone. He was so disappointed. And the room is not cheap The next morning. We went to the very very overpriced restaurant and had the oiliest scrambled eggs I’ve ever had with a sausage patty literally drenched in oil. The room couch was dirty but beautiful. This hotel needs to keep up with the times and also get a new chef.

An amazing property! Former tire factory designed by preeminent Brutalist architect, Marcel Breuer. The high-tech smart room we stayed in had a panoramic river view; decor was a 21st salute to mid-century modern — stunning! Great staff, terrific restaurant. We will be back!

Hotel very close to 91 & 95. Easy & free parking. Wonderful front desk. The building is very interesting and worth staying for that alone. Much is electric in the room and hard to navigate. The blinds are hard to adjust with the control at the door, not near the blinds. The lights in the bathroom go on when you walk by -- even at night when you might not want them to do that. Hard to adjust the bathroom lights to be bright enough for make up, no close up mirror. The mattress, pillows & sheets all were excellent. Fill your own decanter of water by the elevators. Coffee was tea-bag style, but tasted very good. Interesting experience.

During night, traffic sound from the highway was really loud and it's a bit hard for me to fall asleep. Also I expected a little bit more walkable neighborhood, but I wasn't sure about the safety, so we drove to the yale neighborhood. Other than that, it was very pleasant stay. Staff was excellent.

Everything was great other than it being pretty warm we tried to lower the thermostat, but it didn’t go any lower. If it wasn’t for that. It would’ve been great. It was pretty warm and stuffy during the night couldn’t sleep well.

Rooms are a bit tight but what bothered me the most was the noise level. We were on the 7th floor and I could clearly hear the music all night from the street. Not sure where it was coming from but it was a bit much.

The hotel is very nice. The rooms are exceptional. The front desk, superb. My big grievance was the restaurant. After a long day, and planning one drink at the bar before it closed at 11, I was told by the bar server at 10:40 that “the system is down”, I can’t serve you and it’s too close to 11. The other patrons just shook their heads in sympathy. Why it wouldn’t occur to the server to just poor a complimentary beer or just record the transaction later - I don’t know. It was super awkward. Loved the hotel otherwise.

Fire alarm went off at 2:30 am. All patrons left the building and stood outside in the rain for about 45 mins. Nobody from the staff addressed the issue, or communicated to anyone. We were left to stand around with no explanation. Firefighters came and went and after awhile patrons filed back in. On checkout, nobody on Marcel staff addressed the issue or even inquired on my staff. Beyond disappointed.

But the folks who did work there were professional and polite. The setting is light industrial, and the area is not at all walkable. Road access is circuitous and limited, but parking is abundant.

When we arrived we were immediately greeted. We booked through Hotel.com and didn't realize we needed to book the reservation at booking with a gift card we had. The receptionist was amazing. He was helpful, understanding, and extremely pleasant in a comfortable way. It felt like we were old acquaintances meeting up after a long time apart. Our check in process was probably the best we had ever experienced. We went up to our room to settle in. On our return from dinner off-site the same receptionist was still there. We made it point to tell the gentleman how much we enjoyed our check-in experience and thanked him. He smiled, said "thank you" and also said "that's way it should be!".

Surprisingly nice hotel alongside I-95. Solid impact glass pretty much reduced all the noise. Ultra modern, extremely clean and overall great facility for a one night day. A little off the beaten path from downtown, but if you’re looking for a place to stay while on your trip up or down I-95, this is a great option.

I loved the hotel, but I really felt like the location could be described as a place to have a hotel just because there was space to have a hotel. It's close enough to walk to a busy entertainment district, but it's not really safe to do so, especially after dark.

We took our second trip to Hotel, Marcel, and once again took our small dog. The hotel again exceeded our expectations for comfort, convenience, great dining, and friendly staff. I really like that. I can have coffee early in the morning or a drink late at night. The bar and the restaurant are very good with many healthy food options.

My first stay at the Hotel Marcel was wonderful. The restaurant and bar downstairs is fantastic! The food was fresh and delicious. The bartender was friendly and professional. Everything was very clean and welcoming. The room was beautiful. Every staff member I encountered during my stay greeted me with a smile and professionalism. Truly a wonderful place to stay.

We Love this place but 2 comments: Beautiful facility, great staff, will be back again, but you and they need to know: The coffee is good but not great. The breakfast charges are over the top expensive. We went out for our steel cut oats and huevos rancheros after planning to eat in But please stay here and enjoy the eco friendly experience

Find a reason to be in New Haven so you can stay here. Food was top quality, farm to table, locally sourced. Outstanding staff, save for one grumpy breakfast waitress. Cannot say enough good things.
