Motel 6-Gainesville, FL

What a terrible place. First room we got wasn't even cleaned. Beds were dirty, food left in the fridge, old coffee still in the pot. Shower was dirty with soap scum. I went to the front desk, the guy did end up giving us another room. The second room was ok, bathroom a bit dirty, holes in the walls,but we manage. Air conditioning broke. The refrigerator sounded like it was going to explode. Outside was dirty. Not managed or cleaned. Pool was disgusting with black slim all over the bottom and a nasty film across the top of it. Wasn't usable. Wouldn't recommend anyone here. They should be ashamed of their self.

Great for pets. Clean. But really need new bedding and pillows. Flat. Tonya was very gracious and friendly. Housekeeping was friendly too

Under MAJOR renovation. A solo female traveler, I felt unsafe. Reserved accessible room, none available. Given upgrade, but distance from parking spot to room was a walk, but certainly easier than climbing the stairs. Bedroom was clean, bed comfortable, but facilities definitely very outdated. Went to use the pool, closed/locked down. Receptionist was friendly. Overpriced for what I received. I should be offered a refund.

This hotel is very dog-friendly and does not charge any extra fees. The service attitude of the staff is very good and very patient. It is worth recommending.

The room looked clean but had a mildew smell. The pool was dirty and was not working properly, did not feel safe.

Room smelled of bleach and needed to be refurbished. Dust was around the edges of the floor. Floors were sticky from improper cleaning causing buildup of chemical. Bathtub had paint peeling with grime around edges corners and baseboards. Corporate needs to require the owner to renovate starting immediately. Property shows aging without proper upkeep. Staff was very friendly. Room key did not work properly. You had to bend the key towards the door to get it to make contact with the strip on the lock. Tried multiple times before it would open. Will not be back to this property and will let others don’t bother staying at the Newberry property. I have stayed at many Motel 6 hotels but nothing compares to this experience?

Needs renovation

The 2nd time I’ve been here but it wasn’t the best stay. Was given a smoke room with dirty bed covers. Wasp nest all around and the pool was very dirty. The staff was friendly tho..

The hotel was very dated and run down looking, also the office area was clutered. No handicapped assessable rooms available so i canceled reservations.

I like no separate pet fee

German roaches were EVERYWHERE!! Bed was sooooo dirty I ended leaving and driving home 3 hours away at 1am … I was staying here for the Gators game but NEVER AGAIN!!!! I don’t even know how this place is open. it was so bad I never been to a place that bad in my life! I never complain about nowhere, but this was unhuman like beware!!!!

It started out good but ended terrible. The guy that checked us in was nice and friendly the room looked nice and all until we left and came back and there was a bed bug on one of the towels and then got off the towel and was on the floor. I called the front office and the lady told me I could change room but she had a very nasty attitude about it so once we changed rooms this room had roaches in it so we bit the bullet since it was only for one night but when I say NEVER again I mean just that the beds were so uncomfortable and I really couldn’t sleep and I was graduating the next day so yeah it was a terrible experience at this hotel.

Where do I start? The room was dirty, the walls full of mold, the pillows smelled terrible, the bathroom was disgusting, the humidity inside the room was suffocating. In conclusion, I wont repeat the experience in this hotel ever again. There is not reason for a hotel in the USA to be in this awful conditions.

The first room they gave me was infested with fleas. They were on me before I could put my bags down. The front desk lady was very polite and understanding. She offered a refund or another room. I took the room and had no further issues. The staff is doing the best they can with what they have.

The hotel was the dirtiest hotel I have ever been in, we tried to sleep the night and found dirty sheets on the bed. We left the hotel at 2 am and drove two hours back home to sleep. Awful and extremely unsanitary

Would not stay again as there was a dead cockroach in the bathroom and floor was dirty. Made me worried about it out had been cleaned at all

This property was extremely dirty, not cleaned in quite some time. The bedding and towels were clean, otherwise the floors were sticky, mold was on the walls, and it was an unpleasant stay. No one came to take care of trash or replenish towels during our stay, even though we were told they would by the receptionist. I strongly encourage others to avoid this property.

The room was good, with the exception of the shower. There were bugs all in the shower, and the receptionist was not very helpful, other than that it was ok.

The Internet worked. The TV worked. The bed was good. There were no outlets, there were bugs in the room, and the room was dirty.

The staff was amazing! Inside of the hotel was better than excepted. The only negative things about it were the air condition didn’t really work well until the 2nd night. The pillows were frail and there was no security guard bolt.

Do not stay here. Hotel needs to be renovated. Guy checking us in was rude. Other hotels in the area t choose from. Had to switch rooms because air conditioning didn’t work. New room the toilet seat wasn’t attached. Major renovations needed!

Noisy until 1:30 a.m., rusty bathroom fixtures, cigarette holes in bedspread, all around poor upkeep.

Barely supplied no clean towels for the second night. Door locks were broken there was a gap under door that was large enough for a large rat or small gator to have crawled in under. Also the door handle came off in our hand when we tried to open door to exit. The security latch was almost off its hinge with the screw s coming out! The bed was lower on at the head so sleeping was an issue! The place needs an upgrade bad! Portions of the exterior were poorly lit, and parking lot lights were not working either

Man at front desk very helpful and accommodating. Essentials in room clean enough but woodwork, walls, corners on floor need deep cleaning. Badly need new pillows; Ones on our bed were very flat, two pillows as thick as one regular one. I appreciate no frills to keep price down but miss Kleenex by vanity and had hard time using sleep machine as hardly any electric outlets In convenient places

DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL!!! TV didn’t work, NO electric outlet at beds, so NO lights or ability to plug in my CPAP machine! Went to Deak, asked to change room. He said no outlets at bed in any room AND there were no rooms available - although your site said 7 available… Asked for extension cord, was told didn’t have one. As they had a cancellation policy until 6pm, said u wanted to cancel. He SAID he canceled us, but said couldn’t give me a receipt showing that. As you’re sending me survey, assuming he didn’t cancel. I’ll be calling you tomorrow.

Had to change room 3 times, first room the AC didn’t work. 2nd room the tv didn’t work 3rd room the bathroom was dirty overall don’t waste your money

We stayed overnight before and after going on a cruise. On both occasions we had to change rooms. The property needs major renovations. The air conditioning didn’t work, one toilet was leaking water and the second room, the toilet seat wasn’t attached. I would not recommend staying here.

Room smelled of smoke and a perfume spray was used and was awful. Only two small pillows . No outlets by bed to plug CPac machine in. Vent in bathroom ready to fall out. Door frames rusted. Room looked like nothing on WebSite. Trim molding rusted. Bed foot higher than the bed. I took pictures to show what I’m describing. $120 a night and couldn’t wait to leave!

Needed something short notice for a family member and they were great. Offered a room that would accommodate the persons needs. Tv works. Ac blows cold.

The gentleman that checked me in was awesome extremely friendly outgoing, and told me about what was close like restaurants and gas stations. He also took the time to tell me about there policies for the property. The things that i did not like about the room was that there was some mold on the tub/shower wall and the tile was coming off the wall behind the toilet wher it looked like there was water damage.

Stay far away from this hotel. The “manager” is will scream at you from across the property, follow you to your room harassing you, and threaten to call the police on you all for walking your dogs.

The receptionist didn’t find my reservation, she had me waiting and waiting… finally she find it. I was confused. She wasn’t friendly. Hotel is old.

This was the worst experience we had ever had on our travels. Scary lady in the reception with no smile or eyecontact. And the worst stinking dirty room I have ever experienced. I’ve been traveling 160 - 180 days pr year the last 34 years. For f…s sake Motel 6, step up ur game!!!

Was the cheapest option around so I won't nitpick or complain as all I needed was a cheap place to stay while en route. Check-in was super straightforward and staff was friendly.

I booked my stay with a note stating that I would arrive between 10 PM and midnight. Despite this, I received a call around 8 PM asking if I was still coming. When I explained that my arrival time was noted in my reservation, the front desk clerk—a man—hung up on me. We arrived around 10:45 PM, only to be told our room was on the top floor, even though I had specifically requested a first-floor or accessible room due to my disability. When I brought this up, Judy at the front desk dismissively told me, "That's it, and that's all." The room itself was disgusting—hot, humid, and completely unkempt. My daughter pulled back the covers to find crumbs and food on the sheets. The shower wouldn’t drain or switch off from the showerhead. There was mold, stains, burns, dirt, and dust everywhere. The dust was so bad that by morning, my eyes were swollen shut, and I had to go to the ER at 8 AM. I was coughing, congested, and struggling to breathe. My eldest daughter, who has severe allergies, walked in, immediately started sneezing, and refused to stay. She slept in the car. My youngest daughter, stayed witg me & shes had sneezing & coughing all night as well. As of 3:20 PM on 3/2, I am still at the ER dealing with the effects of this horrible stay. I only ended up here because every other hotel in town was fully booked—likely due to a softball tournament. If you're considering staying here, don’t. Find another hotel or motel. This was by far the worst experience I’ve ever had.

This place is in sad shape. Stayed here because it's convenient to Interstate. Just an overnight.

The entire property is a dump. Shady people walking around and trash everywhere. It was horrible.

Honestly, it’s a Motel 6. The stay is not expensive and the accomodations reflect that. It’s a short ten minute drive to the events I go to, it’s quiet, and feels safe. If this sounds negative, it shouldn’t; I’ve been staying at this place for the past five(?) years and definitely plan on doing so again in the coming year. There’s AC, security locks, a pool, and complimentary coffee. And the front desk staff is great.

Trash in the parking lot. There were sheriff officers parked outside and removing someone when we arrived. It smelled like urine. It was filthy inside and out. Definitely had some questionable activity. The room was gross. Stained walls and bedding and it smelled horrible. I was raised poor and been in some bad conditions but this was awful. Truly. I was legitimately scared to lay in the bed and to sleep. The woman who checked me in was not friendly and basically non verbal but it was 2am she was older and probably exhausted and over it. However, the woman who checked me out and who I spoke to over the phone was incredibly kind and helpful. Staff 👍 place 👎

People slamming doors, yelling all night long worst stay ever

We checked in. There were sketchy people standing around the whole hotel. The mattress has a ton of mold on it. We checked out immediately. Were there a total of 15 minutes.

It was in a convenient area and close to where I needed to be

Very quiet location. The beds were very comfortable. It could have been cleaner. there was a used coffee filter in the coffee pot, and the floors could have used a mop. It was a nonsmoking room but the bathtub had several burnt spots and did not look clean.

Rooms updated but bathrooms are not but are clean. Convenient with good parking.

Didn’t have any grab n go breakfast, terrible coffee not hot , no fresh fruit, no juice apples or orange stairs dirty cigarette butts all around , no shampoo n conditioner . Bed was comfortable , ac working good office for checking in needs updated n the people working need to learn how to dress up

Very clean & simple. refrig but no mirowave. Tv good and bed was very comfortable. Not too many amenities but good for price. Not a big breakfast selection in morning.

Fun entering the driveway I was very disappointed it sits next to a very nice new hotel you would think that they would dress it up a little more planters some walkways so you don't have to walk on the sticks to jab you and your feet even with shoes when you walk in the grass coffee was lukewarm but all in all thank you for the coffee no other amenities no soap no shampoo no extra towels when you wet the first ones we had to take our towels to the laundromat to use them a second time and the manager was not afraid to let us know she was the manager and as I know Gainesville there are many places to purchase donuts at a reasonable price for a business these little things keep people coming back if you don't provide soap shampoo just let us know because of the cheap price for the night we understand just let us know so we can be prepared the room look nice when we came in we checked for bed bugs which there were none so we were very pleased with the room just to upkeep of the building needs a little touch up
