If your expecting a normal hotel room then this is not it. Our room was run down and was in need of a serious upgrade!! I would have giving this hotel a 1 star but the bed was actually comfortable. Other than that the room was a dump! Very disappointed. We went with 13 other friends and they all felt the same. The pool was filthy with bugs and grass. Ice machines were either broke or totally out.

Room was not ready when we arrived. Then, given wrong room. Had booked suite. Finally got a suite. Hotel has no elevator. No luggage carts. No assistance with bags. Key to room did not work. Repeatedly.

The hotel was very charming and relaxing had two bars and a restaurant and a kept pool overlooking the water with boat charters available. Once we park the car, we did not have to move it at all. We were within walking distance to everything.

The property was lovely. The grounds were beautiful to walk and the pool had a Great Lake view. The Inn is class old Florida and felt like stepping back in time. Unfortunately the room was very very old and dated. Felt cheap and rundown. The ice machine was broken and the bed was very uncomfortable. The property could use a good update and cleaning. Parking was very limited to a small area that wasn’t covered or shaded in most areas. Staff was lovely and the atmosphere was great. Walkable to the whole town. Very convenient.

This is a beautiful, historic hotel in the heart of Mount Dora. I’ve stayed here many times. The main attraction for me is the pool on the lake. I was very upset finding it closed for the days I was staying. I ended up leaving early because of this. The staff was very nice and understanding. I ended up getting a full refund back. I was pleased with the staff because of that and I will go back again in the future if I know that pool is open!

Great historic property right on the Lake. Friendly staff. A broad porch where you can lounge, drink or eat with a perfect view of a Florida sunset. A number of interesting restaurants only steps away. The hotel restaurant is fine for breakfast and/or lunch.

There was black mold around all the windows the room smelled of must and mold had to have it sprayed the tub had mold around it and the linercof the tub was coming off took 10 minutes each time to get hot water i think ill pass on staying there next time

The property is 140 years old and situated on lake Dora. Beautiful views of the lake from the main building porch and other areas on the property. We refused the first room in the main building because of the mold spell and dingy feeling the room gave us. The second room in an outer building was better, but not by much. Good luck trying to get the water temperature regulated in the shower. The hotel is just worn out. It could be a real nice old hotel, but the maintenance is of very poor quality. It’s in need of a major renovation which could be done keeping the historic look in mind.

We stayed 2 nights, the building we stayed in smelled strongly of bug spray and mildew. They were having a building reroofed, i had to pick up nails before i could leave the property. The pool was cloudy and not clean. The room was nice but caroets were filthy.

Very disappointed with the quality of service and top of that found roaches in the room. Not a quality place ! Once told to the receptionist about the pest in the room her answer was “ you are in Florida”. And we told her we live in Florida and we don’t have roaches crawling in our property Never again to this place

Blinds did not block sunlight. Cobwebs on all the light fixtures. Food and beverage corks found on floor. Dirty shower tile grout. Carpet dirty/disgusting.

The hotel dates back to 1883 and there is only so much that can be upgraded. The floor above us squeak with every step of our neighbor. The ice maker was out of order and looking at the sign it had been. There are no refrigerators in the room. There were three sets of landings/stairs to reach the room. I respect the history and if you're into nostalgia this may be the place for you. BTW, breakfast was very good as well as the service in the bar.

We got a suite with a sitting room. While the bedroom was lovely, the sitting room was small and dark and only had a sad little old twin size fold out sofa thing plus a couple hard side chairs. A proper sofa and lounge chair would have been a better choice.

Unique hotel for history lovers. Great location and walkable to many dining and shopping options. Although clean, wear and tear is visible with rust on fixtures. Bedding is not the comfiest and walls are thin. Make sure you pay attention to room selection. My room was tiny and mostly bed.

The room’s outlets didn’t work. We had to get an electrician to bring a strip so we could charge devices and run the hair dryer. The room smelled musty and the A/ varied between frigid and hot.

Outstanding location and a lovely property. However, the furnishings in the rooms (and the lobby for that matter) are severely outdated. Hallways also had a musty odor. No coffemaker or refrigerator in the room.

We stay here every few months. Only downside is that the walls are very thin and you hear everything from the neighbors and the hallway. If you sleep soundly, you’ll be fine. It’s in an amazing location.

The charm of a beautiful historic hotel wears off when there is no place for my wife to put her curling iron in the bathroom because it has a pedestal sink, there is no refrigerator or microwave or safe in the room, and there’s no ice machine.

The staff is friendly, but they possibly could use more help This was a nice weekend stay, unfortunately the hotel is getting a little more run down. Could use some new mattresses inside. I’m sure some of the rooms although Kristin. In housekeeping kept our room, tidy and clean while we were there. I do suggest breakfast and dinner at the hotel. It was one of our best meals.

Bit of an unusual review, I arrived on Monday for a few days of shopping and dining, only to be quickly taken down with complications from influenza, to the point where I eventually had to be taken to the emergency room and then admitted to the hospital. Christina, Carol, Julie, everybody stepped up to help me, got my room cleaned out and my belongings stored. They even called the hospital to check on me, to see if there's anything else I needed! I looked forward to coming over and staying a few days for the very purpose stated above, for many years. It's a beautiful, stately place where you really are transported back in time. After I was just charged, had to make my way back and pick up my belongings, and this staff is just the best. They helped me load my car and they wished me well. Unless something else happens, I will be spending at least a few days next Christmas, 2.0.

The bed wasn’t very comfortable and shifted anytime either one of us turned over. So the bed didn’t feel very stable. The bathroom was extremely clean. :). The bartender wasn’t very friendly. I asked her if I could see a dinner menu and she pointed out a place in the center of the room and instructed me to go get my own menu. I could hear her talking to another patron and heard her say, as I already said, my shift is coming to an end. Not sure what was happening there as she was the only one speaking loud enough for me to hear her. My husband had a beer and I just got a water as I didn’t want to put her out her way. The lady who checked us in at the front desk was amazing. We have stayed there a few times in the past, but wasn’t as comfortable this time.

Historical building with amazing views and perfect location to walk to the heart of Mount Dora! Rooms towels and beddings were clean . Carpet in the room and walkways including steps need replaced or updated . Pool furniture terrible condition , was no towels by the pool. Personal slow to serve in restaurant, bartender was drunk that day ( memorial weekend) can be water offered by pool ( was very hot ) bar was slow service ( even though was not busy) Need better management. Not very pleasant experience for our 2 days to visit for the money we paid. We had better experience with local AIRBNBS

Return visitor, but even taking into account the history of the hotel, the rooms are becoming increasingly tired. No hot water in the room & reception were completely unhelpful 'oh they should have told you that at check-in'.....seriously! Floyd in the main bar rescued the visit somewhat though, as he is always super helpful & good fun.

This property is right on the lake with a beautiful view of the evening sunsets. You literally walk out of the parking lot and you're in downtown Mount Dora. Great location for a two night getaway! (although in that timeframe you will not be able to eat at all of the wonderful restaurants available to you😊)

The entire staff is excellent! The Inn has a wonderful charm to it. We recommend eating on the Porch at least once. All the food was delicious but that Monte Cristo sandwich was next level.

We stayed at the Lakeside Inn this past weekend. I have both positive and negative comments to add. First, the positives. The inn reminded me of something you would find in the Catskills years ago. The inn is charming with its large porch facing Lake Dora. The staff were all pleasant and the service good. Apps and drinks on the porch (Shrimp and Salmon spread) were great. Breakfast (is not free) was well priced and delicious. The pub with live piano music was enjoyable. iel Now for the negatives. Our room was on the second floor, apparently over a function room. There was a holiday party being below us that made our entire room vibrate until 10 pm. The shower water temp was sporadic at best. The water would be hot and then go cold without touching the handles. Overall, our stay at the Lakeside Inn was enjoyable.

The staff is friendly, but they possibly could use more help This was a nice weekend stay, unfortunately the hotel is getting a little more run down. Could use some new mattresses inside. This time we had dinner elsewhere but their restaurant is great, noticed on previous visits. We'll have breakfast in the Beauclaire again tomorrow and I'm sure it will be as good as ever. As two seniors we appreciate that we were given a room with few steps to navigate.

Hotel is nice Rooms are small but quaint. Restaurant food leaves a lot to be desired. Dinner lacked taste and Breakfast they were out of oatmeal ? Grits, Biscuit and English were cold ! Breakfast was overpriced @ $39 for 2 Won’t be going back

Loved Lakeside Inn. Very nice property overlooking the lake. Waterside Bar, Outside seating for all meals. Inside dining room and bar were wonderful. Staff completely attentive and friendly. Just overall, a very lovely experience. Would recommend

Main meal was not good. Appetizer was wrong. Waited forever for the entree. Had prime rib and eggs. Prime rib was fatty. No bread available for eggs. Waiter was not attentive as should have been. Bathtub needed non-slip material. Difficult to adjust shower. Water pressure appears low. Building built in 1883 so there is a lot to be desired. Trip was pleasant.
