Baymont by Wyndham Sarasota

Stayed for 3 nights March 2024. Room needs updated furniture, fixtures, and wall decor. Everything looked dingey and from 20 years ago. Bathroom needs major overhauls and the shower faucets were leaking badly and seemed almost ready to fall off. Hot water gets so hot instantaneously and it will scald you if not careful. Outside the room was dirty. Walkways look old and dirty. Pool has no lights for evening use so they lock it up at sundown. Pointless to guests who want to relax in the pool after beach time. Breakfast area is small and most food items were empty. Biscuits for biscuits and gravy were rock hard. Juices were watered down. Milk and yogurt were warm. No jelly or peanut butter available. Sausage looked undercooked. Called to office one evening and asked for extra pillows, was told had none. Had hardly any towels in room and they were super small. Freezer didn’t keep food frozen and had to be thrown out. Won’t be back.

The room was gross. It was late in the night and we were tired with kids so stayed anyway. Room was,filthy and stinky, broken refregirator, leaky faucets, elevator did not work, dirth bathtub and sink. Beds were horrendous - felt like sleeping on a wire mesh. Broken baseboards and tilted bed. Everything was grimey and sticky. And the smell i can still taste it.

The place needs major upgrade. Bathroom had mold and stains. Carpet old and dirty looking. Elevator didn’t work. Had to use stairs. Really run down. Didn’t resemble any Wyndham I’ve stayed in before. Staff were very nice but place is not nice at all.

Pros: bed was very comfortable, air conditioner worked well, staff was nice and helpful Cons: toilet was not flushing right, lights over sink were not working right (dim, flickering), the room smelled strongly (cigarette smoke?) that was not pleasant. It got better the next day after I aired out the room with fresh air. One reason I chose the hotel was for the pool which was closed due to storm damage. They should have told me that when I booked the room.

This property for the money was very dated and you thought you where going to die if you took the elevator.

The elevator looked it had been broken for some time. The pool was chained up and there were extension cords everywhere. It's decent, if you just need a place to sleep and don't plan on spending any time there

Bring house flip-flops and a flashlight! Elevator certificate was expired by over 3 months. Elevator acted like it wasn't going to make it the top! Elevator floor was soft? Elevator broke the next day and trapped someone inside. Then elevator was out of service and I had to carry our bags down two flights of stairs. Room carpet was stained. Room carpet was torn and fraying. Carpet was so nasty I wore flip-flops in the room. Door safety latch was broken and missing. Door dead bolt lock would not engage. Outside doors looked they had been pried open many times. Bottom of curtain was ripped letting light in. Paint coming off bottom of tub. Light in bathroom was either a strobe or off. I needed a flashlight to take a shower. Old fire alarm crackled all night. Maid didn't change towels. Looked like blood on the sheets. Filter on air-conditioner was missing and air vent was packed with dust!

Pool was great laundry facility was broken had roaches and had. To ask for towels and toilet paper didn’t clean rooms every day and some of the staff not friendly at all will not recommend

Facility is poorly kept. Bathroom needs updating. All fixtures in bathroom were rusted, toilet paper holder falling out of wall. We were a party of 2, one towel each. Elevater was scary. Floor was buckled and crumbling. All ice machines non-functioning. Positive note: registration host was helpful and a delight. Breakfast the usual fare. Very disappointed in this Baymont.

We had an event in the area and this was the closest hotel to the museum. Check-in was ok. We could not really inspect the room because we only had 30 mins to get in, take a quick shower and go to the event. The bathroom was not clean. We got back late and found out the room also had roaches. Everything else around was sold out and it was too late to make other arrangements. We will never stay here again.

Please avoid at all, room dirty, no bed linens, no pillows at arriving, cigarettes inside unit and dirty and used bathroom, there is no one to prepare room. They give us staff to do it by ourselves. No refund and no other room available. They promise to do cleaning day after. Nobody shows up. We left hotel and still don’t refund

Room in very poor condition-stained carpet, heavy dust/debris on carpet in corners, along baseboards, and behind bed. Peeling paint on the walls, frayed carpet, and the room had an odor of stale cigarette smoke. Mattress was old and uncomfortable. Cleanliness of room was poor overall. Furniture in room was old, outdated, and in poor condition. “Free breakfast” was a joke. The only edible items were the sausage links. We will not stay at this hotel ever again.

Half of the door safety latch was missing, making it useless, the bathroom had an overwhelming smell of mildew, I suspect from the shower curtain, it was strong! Most of the outlets were too lose to hold a phone charger connection. After 2-3 trips across the carpet, my feet were black. The border of the carpet to bathroom floor was all frayed. Wallpaper was peeling in spots. Water pressure was great, and plenty of hot water.

This is the dirtiest place I have ever seen. Mold was everywhere! The floor was soaked. The room smelled awful!

The staff were extremely sweet but thats where the good review ends. When we woke in the morning there were ROACHES EVERYWHERE!! Nightstand, bathroom counter, my clothes!!! The electrical outlet where the tv plugged in didn't work. I had to reach behind the dresser and try move all the wires to one that did. Since i prepaid there was nothing Barbara at the front desk could do. She was very nice and apologetic and will hopefully bring it to managements attention.

I thought this hotel was a little over priced for what we got, but so was everything in Sarasota. The lady who checked me in was very nice, but we didn’t get any housekeeping service the 3 nights we stayed. I didn’t call and ask for any though, so they may have cleaned the room if I had requested it. It was very conveniently located, and the hotel itself was nice and quiet. It’s rundown, but it felt pretty clean. We would probably stay here again.

The outside appearance seems dated but inside the rooms are spacious and comfortable. We had a two bedroom and it had two large TVs, a refrigerator and microwave in each room and two bathrooms.

When you first approach the property you think you are back in time because of the 70's color palette. I was expecting a really run down hotel and found friendly staff, a very clean room, and extremely comfortable beds. Breakfast was also a surprise as I was expecting just some pastries and coffee but there were waffle makers, yogurt, bolied eggs, biscuits, sausage patties, and bananas. Location is very close to downtown and has several stores and restaurants nearby.

Rooms were old and musty and needs to be updated, and saw a roach in the room. Says they are pet friendly but charged me $175 for my dog to stay the week with us, won’t go back. Not to mention it is right across the street from a trauma center hospital so you constantly heard the helicopter or ambulances all the time.

This was just a place to sleep for 2 nights. It is old and in need of updating.

I’ll start off by saying that the clerk that was there at the time of my check in was rude, she did not greet us, and as I began to ask about checking in, she immediately cut me off by saying No! There was too many people walking up and down the stairs and hall way talking so loud and making dogs noises, not sure if they were guests here or no, Then we only received fresh clean towels one day and absolutely no house cleaning at all, Not really happy with my stay here, and so much money paid to stay here, and it wasn’t even worth it!

I showed up to check in at 11:30pm , there was a sign on the door that said with a customer be right back , door was locked , i waited for 30 minutes outside i also called the hotel 2 times got no answer , then a young lady came around the corner outside wearing flip flops , sweat pants and a white see through shirt with no bra while smoking and talking on her phone asked me do i need anything, i reluctantly said yes as i assumed she might be a lady of the night , only to find out that she was the hotel clerk i was visibly upset and my tone was as well. She then said whats your problem so i told her i had been waiting 30 minutes to check in and the sign is still up she said relax no need to be agitated. This women needs training on proper attire , behavior and overall understanding of customer service .

Arrived to check in, woman behind the counter was sleeping… full on snoring/deep sleeping. After repeatedly saying “Mam!”… I went to the car and had my husband honk the horn. That still didn’t wake her up. I went back in and got louder, “Hello, Mam!!?” … she finally woke up and wasn’t very personable, friendly, or welcoming. Additionally, the room smelled like cigarette smoke and the stairs we had to use to get to our room had water dripping on us from an earlier rain. The ice machine on the second floor near our room was also broken and the bedroom sheets had stains on them. Needless to say, we will not be returning to this location. Wasted 10 minutes of my life trying to check in to a less than mediocre hotel.

She informed us that check in wasn't until 3:00 and that our room wasn't ready. Although check out is at 11:00 she said there were no King rooms available. She claimed the hotel was fully booked last night and the cleaners were backed up. The parking lot was virtually empty. I asked her if she could contact housekeeping & ask them to prioritize a King room. She said No. We explained that we were needing to change clothes quickly and head to a wedding. She told us it could be up to an hour's wait. Having no choice but to wait, we sat in our car. We observed a housekeeper on the balcony having a cigarette & chatting on her cell phone. The front desk lady did come out to our car a couple minutes before 3:00 & tell us that our room was ready. The room was in very shabby condition. Dirty carpet with holes in it. Mismatched chair & ottoman had dirty upholstery. Furniture banged up & chipped. The bed was OK, and the bed linens & towels were clean.

Staff great

We, as a company, booked two rooms for our employees and from what they told us, everything went smoothly. One of the rooms, had an issue where he couldn’t get into his room because the key wouldn’t work. It took about an hour and a half but it was resolved. However, it did get resolved and overall, it was a good stay for both of them. This is the second time we have booked here for employees and have been very satisfied with the service.

The staff was very, very sweet. The hotel needs to be demolished & rebuilt..

I am frequent at the Baymont and the staff is wonderful. That’s the best part about it. The breakfast is always great and the staff always has the smile and are very accommodating for me. I look forward to visiting every time, especially Miss Barbara. She is a sweetheart.

Older property but fairly well maintained. Room could have been cleaner. Could use some updating. Staff friendly and helpful!

The facility is rather old but the staff were super nice and price was very reasonable. The pool looked amazing but I didn’t use it. The location was great with Starbucks, yummy house and Michael’s on East very close by.

We didn’t even stay once we showed up and saw the conditions of this hotel. People were doing drugs in the parking lot. We didn’t even feel safe leaving our vehicles in the parking lot. The pictures are not true to how the hotel looks. We didn’t even stay because it wasn’t safe or clean and still were charged for the night. We were displaced from the hurricane and chose to go back to our moldy house.

Stay at your own risk. Room 232 has clearly been broken into before. The door did not seal, the swing hasp was broken, and the window was pushed in. More than a few seedy looking individuals milling about the property also.

Two blocks from the hospital where I was going the next day. Perfect. Older property it maintained.

The hotel is well situated for Sarasota and we were able to walk to many restaurants and attractions. The hotel is a bit tired but very comfortable. Breakfast wasn't special - typically American but adequate as it was included in the price. Overall a very satisfactory stay and the pool was a lovely place to relax after a day siteseeing

Property felt safe, close to popular amenities & restaurants. Hard to find initially, building cannot be easily seen from Tamismi Trail.

Convenient location to downtown Sarasota

The people were very helpful and competent. The breakfast was extensive and good quality. The location was very good for access to areas of interest. We liked the nearby dining options.

Breakfast had nothing fresh to offer, only biscuits and gravy and waffles. For 3 day stay, there was no room service. We were issued 2 bath towels, 1 hand towel, and 1 washcloth for 2 people for 3 days! No comfy place to sit, only a table with 2 hard chairs.

This was not a perfect hotel but not horrible either. There was somewhat of an odor in the room prob needs carpet replaced. Pool was nice. Breakfast was great! Very spacious

It was a decent property. Room was clean except for the bathroom had hairs left behind on the wall. Overall the stay was good. The breakfast buffet they advertise is biscuits and gravy, waffles and toast every day, maybe some different selections would be better. Some random Crack head kept bugging us to buy rocks from him, but he was friendly when we declined each night.

Me and my wife love the place. We especially love Miss Barbara at the front desk. She is so sweet and always helpful. The food is great and the place is always nice and clean. However, the plumbing could probably use some attention. I am regular there, and in many of the rooms, the plumbing has been an issue. Other than that, we absolutely love the place and give it five stars.
