The only bad thing that I can say about this place is that there is no food on site. Room was clean (and a little retro), beds were comfy, staff was excellent and helpful, and the Bahi Hut drinks were the best!

The hotel was clean and staff very accommodating. Although a senior with health conditions I couldn’t get a handicapped room on bottom level. This hotel didn’t have an elevator and I was told the rate I received didn’t qualify for a room on the first floor. I didn’t bother having dinner there because I would have had to go up and down several times. The music from the Tiki Bar was very loud and so was the air conditioning unit. Disappointed!

Would definitely stay here again. Clean, comfy, convenient, and recently updated, although it still retains a cute 1950's Florida vibe because of the way it's designed and decorated. I give it two demerits, although I will not let them affect my overall rating because they were manageable: (1) Despite the listing including a restaurant, there is NO restaurant. The Tiki Bar serves a half dozen appetizers, but that does not a restaurant make. (2) They have a LOUD AND RAUCOUS "Drag Bingo" event in the Tiki Bar on Monday nights. To each his own, but because the Tiki Bar is partially outdoors, the considerable racket rings through the entire complex. We were a couple hundred feet from the bar but the noise significantly invaded our room. Fortunately, it did not go on too late, so we were able to sleep just fine. I understand that there's also a Karaoke night on Thursday, which we were not present to experience, but I suspect the sonic impact is similar or worse. I don't begrudge people having fun, but there really was no reason for the music and microphone to be THAT loud for people to enjoy themselves. It's a small space, and the amplification was far in excess of what was required.

This is such a fun property to stay at. The pool is huge and salt water. The rooms are decorated midcentury modern which is pretty cool. We had a balcony on second floor which was great to sit outside on for a breeze. Air conditioner worked well. We loved the tiki bar next door, and the food truck across the street will blow your mind. The rooms were clean, but outside could definitely use a cleaning. But dont let that worry you. We bought a few souvenirs the night we checked in.. and by the next morning on wednesday i wished i had more.. but they dont let the front desk do any sales.. just the manager can. But the manager decided to not come in that weekday so thats kind of bummed us out. We could have waited till the bar opened at 12, but with a 11am checkout thats not really an option.

The Tiki Bar is everything! The bartender and the guests in the bar sang happy birthday to me and the drinks were awesome! I didn't like that I was originally assigned a room on the second floor. This property is motel style--No Elevators! The front desk staff changed me to a first floor accommodation without issue. All the staff were very welcoming.

The property was very unique. It had the feel of a 1960’s motor court from our family vacations from our childhood. The guitar player and singer on Saturday night was very good. The courtyard and pool area were spacious, clean pool, lots of chairs. Location is convenient to airport, downtown and beaches. Be sure to check prices as the hotel quoted me $50 per night more than Expedia. Shower curtain wasn’t long enough so bathroom flooded with each shower. Room was not the cleanest although beds were. Ice makers were out of order. Air conditioner stopped cooling on second night.

We only stayed one night for my friend's birthday, but I wanted to stay longer. The pool area is great, the staff is really friendly and helpful and our room was clean. We went to the Bahi Hut and had a wonderful time. I can't wait to plan another trip with more of our friends.

Our room was damp and smelled of mold. The flooring was coming up. The towels were damp and the moisture issue was so bad that the box of tissues were all wet. There was a bleach smell that was overpowering. I am allergic to mold and we had to leave at first light due to the respiratory issues I had from the room. When the office staff was told this , no action was taken. Poor care for $344 per night!

Great re-do of such an iconic motel. The bed was comfortable, and the mini refrigerator/freezer was absolutely perfect...and the pricing was great! However, the floor was very dirty (needed sweeping) and I was not quite sure the bedding had been changed, as there was stuff on the sheets. (I didn't want to bother the front desk again, as she had already moved me from my first room--as her log said it had been changed/cleaned, and it had Not.) I also realize that solid help in any profession is very difficult to procure these days. OVERALL I would definitely stay there again, front desk was extremely nice and helpful.

Great little motel at a reasonable rate. The pool area was fantastic and general areas were modern and set the holiday tone. The bed was comfortable and the room was nice but cleaning was the only thing I would fault, the room was surface level cleaned but the cleaners need to remember to clean under things and behind the beds

This property deserves a score of”5” for the pool. It was absolutely the saving grace of our trip. The motel itself has tremendous potential, but not the comforts and upgrades that we had hoped or expected. Housekeeping services were not the best. In a six day stay, our room was never vacuumed or swept, and we had to remind housekeeping to come and replace towels, soaps, coffee on two occasions when they missed services altogether. The room is small and while it might have been. “Updated”’ a few years ago, it is not upgraded. There were many instances of features which did not work, optimally, or at all. The beds were mostly comfortable, although they only offered a comforter, which was too hot for the room. It would be better if they had a comforter on top of a sheet and a light blanket. The bathroom was extremely small and limited in function the shower pressure and access to the showerhead was not good. In the lobby, they do offer coffee, which often ran out and was not replenished in the morning, and did not offer an alternative to coffee, such as tea. having stayed in several other motels which were renovated and converted to new updated and upgraded facilities, this one fell short for the interior. The pool was absolutely priceless. Very warm, clean, and easy to enjoy. The neighborhood nearby is not great, but if you have a car, you can quickly get to the more desirable areas.

Shower would not drain properly. Had to turn water off to wash body or would be standing in water. Shower curtain was not long enough - so water got on the floor. Mold all around the shower. Went to wipe up a beverage spill on the floor and the white towel was brown. Telling me the floors were not mopped. Other than these couple issues , the grounds were very nice, beds very comfortable and nice having a bar on sight.

The rooms were more spacious than standard hotel rooms and having a refrigerator and microwave in the room was nice. The pool area was very nice with plenty of shade if u wanted it. Few negatives… no closet in out room and the slope in the shower wasn’t steep enough so some water came onto the bathroom floor which we just used the extra towels to soak up the water. We would definitely stay there again.

I was very pleasantly surprised by this resort I wasn't sure what to expect coming in from Orlando. My room was clean very spacious I was able to get a blow-up mattress for my teenager in the room with no problem plenty of room to walk around. Staff was amazing and friendly and checked in with us each day. Pool area was neat clean and spacious for guests to be able to sit in the shade and eat or just lounge around the pool deck. Their website pictures match their rooms and establishment. Very close proximity to the Sarasota beaches and shopping. I will definitely be booking another weekend trip with them.

Rooms are large, clean and really comfortable. Parking is free, and it's only a 10-min drive to downtown Sarasota. The only downside I found was the weak water pressure the 2nd floor.

Staff very friendly. You can tell the age of the property but from what I could tell well maintained. Only thing I would say is the water pressure isn’t the best for my thick curly hair. This was the 2nd time I’ve stayed here and just booked a 3rd visit next week. I like to be left alone after procedures and they were very accommodating and understanding.

Stayed here multiple times, one of my favorite places to stay in the area. There were a couple issues in the room I had. The deadbolt did not lock and did not feel safe, woke up after my first night to the door ajar. There were stains on the towels and shower curtain. I notified the front desk when I checked out and was told a manager would contact me and have yet to hear from someone.

Nice location. Clean hotel. Great pool. I will say I wasn’t happy that we could not check in early. They wanted to charge me 20$ an hour for early check in. So we had to sit around for almost 3 hours before checking in. The room was ready too. Made no sense to me. I stayed in a lot places never was charged for early check in. I will never stay here again for that reason.

The maids are HORRIBLE but the front desk staff, TJ was awesome. Along with the tiki hut staff were wonderful. Only the maids who didn’t speak English (so they said then I heard one actually speak English so then I was irritated that they lie). We liked TJ so much so that we had extra drinks/soda/beer/gatorade that would have gone to the maids and they could have picked up but they sucked so bad we didn’t even leave a tip. So I gave everything to TJ to take home. He deserved it anyway! We had to wait to get our room cleaned but it was ok we showed up early but when we got in I checked the sheets and I found black hair in my bed and stains of “something” on my husbands bed so WE remade the beds. It’s the only thing i didn’t get pictures of because I waited thinking I had a clean room only to find out they just made the beds after the last guest. I did take pictures of the other gross stuff. Like the actual dirt and dust on the toilet paper & because she claimed she couldn't speak English I showed her. Nope she’d put that same roll back under the open faced cabinets and each day it was a game if she would actually not be a lazy immigrant & get rid of the tp. Btw the one day she actually took it out of the garbage bin and put it back on the counter! There was hair & old toothpaste in the plastic container that held the soap/shampoo. Everyday I would empty it and put it right in front of the sink. Never cleaned it. Also “NO SMOKING EVER” yet my comforter had a burn hole in it.

I rated this property two stars not because of the staff—who were kind and tried to be helpful—but because it ultimately wasn’t the right fit for me. As a woman traveling alone with valuable camera equipment, I didn’t feel safe. The rooms are accessed via exterior entrances, and the surrounding area seemed a bit run down, which added to my unease. Trusting my instincts, I decided to stay elsewhere in a different part of town and did not spend the night at the Golden Host Resort.

The hotel is very well situated with a regular bus service to downtown Sarasota. The room was excellent, the staff friendly and helpful and it has a great pool. And the Tiki Bar has a wonderful range of cocktails.

Not the nicest area of Sarasota, but a quick 10 minute drive to downtown Sarasota and all that it offers. Rooms were fine. Tiki Hut is not the most happening place I ever have been but nice if you want some live music.

The entire staff ( Katrina, Beatrice, Taylor, and Kat) were wonderful! I loved the Pool, and the BAHI HUT Tiki Bar had great entertainment Thursday thru Sunday nights. Highly recommend if you want a nice room and Great Value!!

Front desk staff was very friendly and made us feel welcomed. The room was clean and the pool and patio were beautiful. The mattress was a bit soft for my taste. The only thing missing was a bit more than coffee at breakfast, maybe some muffins to go with the coffee.

loved the Tiki Hut and they gave us 2 free drinks. The room was updated but the outside could use a upgrade, especially for the price you pay for this hotel. The pool and set up was nice!

This is a very pleasant hotel!! They rooms are very clean have all you need. The staff is so helpful and friendly. It is like you are there with friends. The Tiki Bar was a plus with wonderful music and entertainment around the weekend. We would definately go back.

This was our first trip to Florida and I have to say, was not disappointed! The only thing I do wish was the restaurant was open but being that we stayed during off season, it wasn’t that bad. Everything was in close range to us.
