We have not stayed here for about a year and it has changed. The property has been renovated and is very nicely updated. Staff if very friendly and concerned about customer service. Very pleasant change.

The only bummer is that the pool was closed. This was a big part of our evening entertainment plans so it would have been nice if we had been notified either during the reservation process or before check in so we could have planned accordingly.

My grandkids did a last minute stay for Spring Break. And we really enjoyed the pool. It was pleasantly at right temperature. Beds also were comfortable. They have already asked when we are going back

Stay was ok but they were not prepared for winter. Northern Illinois and did not have a/c heating system insulated from the -8 degree temps and the blowing wind. Contacted front desk and their maintenance man stuffed some towels in the frame to block some of the cold. Another room not offered but since family lives close by, we stayed. Not too many choices in McHenry, IL.

It is a nice place to stay. Staff was very friendly. Breakfast is pretty good with a nice variety. It’s definitely not 5 star. But for short term it is pleasant. Down side is to allow smokers to smoke near front entrance, they should be farther from the front area.

We had a 5-day stay over the Thanksgiving Day period and the Hotel’s housecleaning didn’t come to service our room once! No made bed. No changed towels No emptying of trash. This was a terrible experience and I would NEVER advise anyone to stay here.

Checked into our room turned down the sheets and the previous guest s stick of deodorant was in the bed. So clearly, the bed had not been changed or cleaned when they gave us a new room they gave us the wrong number so I was attempting to open the room of an already occupied guest, which then pissed off that guest, which then led me to dragging my three-year-old back downstairs for the second time that evening at 11 PM after I’d welcome him up because there was someone else’s deodorant in the bed, it was just overall very unappealing and very turned off to stay there ever again. The staff had very little sense of urgency to correct the problem and anytime you ask them anything they spoke to you as if you were stupid for not already knowing that the restaurant across the way it closed two weeks ago for instance. Overall, I think the staff needs to be taught what customer services especially in the hospitality industry.

Overall stay was decent. Checking out staff member was on personal phone, delaying the check out process. Customer had a few questions in regards to stay cost. Chairs in the room had a lot of stains on them. It's hard to keep fabric furniture clean, I understand but looked gross to sit on.

Hotel was good, did not eat the breakfast but the have a seasonal bug that flies and they were inside the room. They offered to move us but they were everywhere. Bugs are not harmful just annoying.

We stayed for 3 nights for Fouth Of July weekend! We were in a King bed handicapped room! My girlfriend didn’t sleep at all the first 2 nights! She is 100% disabled and the bed on the right side was sagging and it seemed the mattress or boxspring under the mattress was broken!

I reserved a jacuzzi tub room. We were looking to order in and relax. The room had NO table or chairs AT ALL! No where to sit except the bed. The room was plenty big enough to have a table and chairs or at least a desk and chair. It’s so crazy there’s no where to sit!

We enjoyed our stay here. The room was clean and very soundproof. We ended up by the elevator and I was wondering if it might end up loud, but it was not. The breakfast was clean, organized and well stocked at all times. Only thing I would comment on was listening to loud news on TV at 7:00 am while eating breakfast was not very pleasing. I might suggest front desk just having the TV set on a nature documentary?? Or just music. If someone wants to watch the news on their favorite channel they could do so in their own room.

The room I reserved was under construction. No one said anything to me. I was given a room then had to go back to the reception desk to ask for my original room. That is when I found out it wasnt available. I had called multiple times throughout the week to make sure my reservation was ok and that the pool was good as it was for my daughter's birthday. Yet no one said anything. The room they gave me was too small for the number of guests. 4 kids 1 adult. So they made me pay for an additional room that was connected. I couldnt cancel as it was for my daughters birthday and she had friends coming to go swimming and have a sleep over. Now I am out even more money. Very disappointed in the service i was given. This would have been a vacant room room the night and instead, i had to pay them.

Room wasn't ready when we checked in, so we were upgraded at no extra cost. The room was clean and smelled wonderful. The bed was very comfortable, and the pillows were plump not flat like some I've seen at other hotels. I will definitely stay here whenever I'm in the area.

Amazing. We lost power. Julie at at the front desk took my call and found a room that was ready to check into at 830am after a night without power during an ice storm. She was a savior so we could get cleaned up and ready to work. Thanks Julie!

The property was nice. My big issue is that they told us yes when we asked friday night if we could check out a day early and be refunded. When we checked out next morning they said expedia would mail saying our refund came through. When I reached out to Expedia they said the hotel needs to issue the refund. Expedia called hotel to get the refund and hotel said they would not refund. Now we cant even get anyone at that location to answer our calls to inquire about refund and we can not email cuz they claim our exedra booking number isn't valid. The hotel was fine and the staff we dealt with most of the time was great, but charging someone $250 for a room they didn't use after you said you were issuing a refund and they probably rented to someone else after we left in unacceptable. I mean even a partial refund would be nice. Expedia was very helpful but the hotel has not been with this issue.

Started out poorly. The desk clerk checking me in, said I was checked in, running my card, but got declined. Ran another card, same thing. There was another gentleman with the same problem and the clerk said it was our problem nothing he could do. Somehow it was the card reader connected declining the card. He then hand keyed the cards and they went thru. I don’t know if it was because we both booked thru a third party or what. Just very rude to say, you are checked in and the room is paid for, but because the card would go thru for a $50 deposit, that it was my problem , nothing he could do. There was plenty of money on the cards. Once he hand keyed, I was able to get a room key card and everything was good.

I’ve stayed at many Hampton Inn’s over the years. This was my worst experience. Admittedly, it started out good. We were met with a very friendly hotel associate. She was accommodating and helpful. We were there for. Family reunion. We checked in on Friday afternoon and left the hotel on Saturday. While out at the family reunion all day Saturday (11:00 am - 11:00 pm) our room was never cleaned and towels were not replaced. I would usually reuse some hotel towels. But, these were very thin and it was necessary to get new ones. I was very surprised and not impressed when we got back very late. I went to the front desk and waited in line to request towels and shared with the clerk that our room was not cleaned and we needed clean towels. He didn’t apologize, or offer any reason, he just looked at me in a puzzled way and asked how many towels did we need. It was just very poor customer and behavior. I hope this is an anomaly.

My stay here was fine but I was frustrated with not being able to extend my stay without having to pay another $500 deposit for my dog and another $75 pet fee. It seems like they would want people to stay longer! But they sure made it very difficult to add a night. So we just ended up leaving.

I have stayed here a number of times traveling for work. It's a well-maintained property with restaurant options within 5 to 10 minutes. Drive in McHenry or Crystal lake. Service and cleanliness have always been top notch.

Quiet and safe location. 10 min near to McHenry town and 18 min to Volo museum. I love breakfast server until 10 a.m. we have plenty time to rest at morning.

My visit was short, but the experience was amazing from the start...I checked-in with Bob and felt comfort and safe, he explained the full amenity experience esp engaging with my nephewswho came with me to check out where I'm staying. Location was perfect, area was explored. At my 2am checkout with Ms Adele, was heartwarming. She has a heart of gold, I truly appreciate those beautiful words. She's a blessing to have met during my trip. Thank you for such a great experience, I'll def be back when I visit and stay with you again. Stay blessed. ❤️

Overall I liked my stay at the hotel. My 2 main issues qere that there was no staff member watdhinf iver the free breakfast for sanitary reasons. I saw a lady talking over the bacon and egg station while it was open and cough on the juice machine which grossed me out from wanting to eat breakfast there anymore. Also, the staff outside of the ront desk was not friendly at all. A hi goes a long way when tiure passing by.

Came to the area to see a comedy show. Room and bees were comfy. There were quite a few stains on the room furniture and carpet. My main, huge complaint, is about breakfast. At check in we were told breakfast is 6-10. We went down at 9:30 and there was basically NOTHING left. Pancake batter was gone. Juices we’re basically empty. No bread left. No milk. No eggs, veggies or potatoes. Not ripe fruit. Really disappointed and ended up going out to breakfast.

The breakfast that we partook of was so subpar we left 95% of it on our paper plates. It was the only thing about our stay that was not excellent. If you want to serve breakfast and you can't justify the expense, cut out the horrible omelet, the fake bacon and the disgusting potatoes and just serve fresh muffins, bagels, coffee, fruit and so forth. The breakfast was so bad we were truly surprised because everything else about our stay was outstanding.
