No on site parking. Had to park in a public garage and pay, Male Clerk was not very friendly

It was horrible. Elevator did not work. We booked 3 rooms with 2 beds and they one had one the rest were single beds. We had to get 4 single rooms because the 2 bed room was on the 5th floor and my friend was handicap and could not walk all the stairs. Kids running around all over candy all over the floor trash all over. It smelled and tv remote did not work right. I felt like i stayed at the roach motel. The guy that checked us in charged me for 3 cars when we had only brought 1 car. The lady that checked us out had to fix everything. Then there is the continental breakfast.... there is none. Its a bagged breakfast.

I picked this hotel because it offered parking - for a fee. We checked in, paid for parking, received the pass. Went to get food. We came back and there were no empty spots. I asked where we were supposed to park, she told me across the street, but we had to move the car by 7am or it would be ticketed or towed. I told her we had paid for parking, she said the day guy had oversold their spots. She let me stay in employee parking, but it was very inconvenient.

The parking is VERY LIMITED, fortunately there are some public parking lots & garages very close.

This was not a great stay - but not the worst I've ever had. We checked in and they were still learning a new system...which fine I get, but it took a long time to find my reservation. Once that happened - my double bed room turned into a single bed... so that had to be corrected. We were given two single rooms which is not ideal for a family, but workable. In one room the air conditioning would not adjust or turn off, so it was an ice box. The pool was not open and by the looks of it- was gross! The grab and go breakfast, that was listed on the reservation, was not provided as promised. The elevators were also incredibly slow that it became faster to climb up and down the stairs to the 5th floor. Thank goodness we are in shape. I would not recommend this hotel to any family.

I room felt dirty, smelled like smoke and one of the windows was open and it was not discovered as being open until the next morning when the curtains were opened. There is black mold growing on the ceiling of the bathroom. There was no trash can in the room and the tv did not work. This hotel is the worst place that I have stayed at and it has the feeling of a road side inn. Also, the parking was horrible, spaces were so tight I could barely open the door far enough to squeeze out of my suv and I am not a big person.

Had roaches in my room along with mold and rust in the bathroom the vents are clogged with dirt smoke detectors has dirt and rust on it rusty on all sprinklers will not be returning and will let health department know of the condition and i will be asking for a full refund very disappointed

Expedia posted deceptive pictures of this property! My wife found bedbugs in her bed & many other human hairs on mattress cover. We did not stay but were still charged for 1 night We found another hotel in the area that was wonderful. This wasted so much time and disappointment to our 2 day vacation in Bethesda. We were vacationing from Canada to a place we had previously lived 25 years ago.

Very dated and dirty facility. Smelled musty as soon as I entered the lobby. My room smelled even worse. The condition of my room was notorious. The window blinds didn’t work, the nasty curtains are falling down, and the carpet was filthy and looks like it’s never been replaced. The facility has a very limited number of parking spaces, but none were available and I had to pay for nearby public parking. The only good thing I can say about this hotel is it is located to many restaurants and bars. Although my room was only $104 for the night, I will never stay here again.

When I arrived, I waited far too long to check in because no one was at the front desk. My shower clearly hadn't been cleaned - there was hair on the shower walls. There were mold spots on the wall in the bathroom. The internet was spotty.

Worn out and dirty hotel, chipped and broken furniture, dark hallways, didn't feel safe. Breakfast was promised and turned out to be juice and muffin in a paper bag. Massively overpriced even for greater DC.

Hotel room was filthy and rundown. Bedclothes were thin and inadequate and not enough to keep warm. Heater not working and furniture and carpet were absolutely disgusting. There were feces behind the television stand on the carpet. I have pictures.

This hotel was disgusting. There were stains on almost every surface of the room and the smoke detector was hanging down out of the ceiling. We left immediately and had to find a different hotel very late at night. Had to eventually call to get our refund as it didn’t automatically go through as the front desk said it would.

The internet service in the room is dismal--terribly slow even for regular browsing. They don't have any area for breakfast, they provide a breakfast pack, which includes an apple, yogurt, a small juice, a small water bottle, etc, no coffee or tea (though you can have tea/coffee in the room). Convenient location. Good for something you are looking only for a night stay. Most of the amenities they claim do not work or are unusable.

This is an inexpensive hotel in the greater DC area. As such, one cannot expect too much. Very nice staff people. One-half mile to two separate walkable Metro stops and the Naval hospital. Bethesda itself is an attractive town. The hotel room is small with two double (not queen) beds. The drapes were in disrepair. The "breakfast" is a brown bag containing a cup of yogurt, small bottle of water (no coffee), packaged apple slices and a packaged muffin. If the staff member on duty is getting lunch, no one is at the front desk and no one answers the phone.

Room lack working wifi

Internet works extremely slow and there is no smart TV, so YouTube is watched on the phone, whichbagain is extremely slow due to poor internet. I just needed a toom to crash andvrest, so that was OK, but if I had to work-no way! Hope they improve

Hotel could use some updating We left each day at 9 am and didn’t get back to our room until 7:30. Amenities limited but coffee maker in room and refrigerator. Great location for shops and restaurants and train if you don’t mind walking. Staff very nice and accommodating. If you want to spend at least $100.00 or more least per night, GO FOR IT. Also, parked for free!

Internet is awful. No cleaning for 5 days

Fine for a night or two, but zero frills. Breakfast comes in a paper sack and has to be requested at the front desk. We didn’t have a working tv for the first 24 hours, the person at the desk shrugged and said sorry, nothing could be done. Heater/air conditioner either had to run all the time, or not at all, could not control temperature at all.

Old, outdated property. Staff is nice and location is convenient to NIH. It’s the cheapest in the area but still not worth the price for the condition it’s in.

Your front desk representatives are the best. Professional and patient. Malia and Derrick are a asset to company.

While the two women at the reception desk the day I arrived were excellent in helping resolve an issue, when I asked for a late check-out, the person at the reception desk (a man) was what I would call rude when he told me, THREE times, that I absolutely had to be out by the time he was allowing me to check out. His behavior will certainly not encourage me to return any time soon and he could certainly benefit from some training in customer relations.

Not enough parking & extremely rude customer service at the front desk

Under normal traveling conditions we spend not less than sixty nights each year in hotel rooms. This is the overall worst service and cleanliness hotel we can remember staying in. The front desk agent who checked us in was rude. They did not replace towels after the first day. When I ask for some clean bathroom linens, the front desk agent was unhappy and it took a second call to get some over an hour later. The floor was dirty. I solved this by scrubbing my feet. The bezel fell of of the bath room celling. If someone had been using the facilities it could have resulted in a hospital visit. The safety box did not work. The front desk agent promised to have it repaired the next morning. The morning front desk clerk said they had no one that could fix it. I was forced to carry my important documents with me all the next two days. Expedia should not be representing this facility.

Got there to find the overnight staff snoring. I took video it took over an hour almost 2 to wake this man up. Then he yelled at me and told me to leave. Then he came back to the desk and said he would give me a “free” room even though I already paid for the room so that was a joke. The breakfast was a bag with an apple and a yogurt. I have an abscessed tooth and could not eat the apple. The elevator didn’t work that morning for me. It was stuck so the maid took me to the stairs. We didn’t get our room until like 5 am and then were made to check out the same day which I thought was wrong considering what we went through just to get a room to sleep in. I really hope corporate or management reaches out to me so I can send the footage of the man sleeping and then being ridiculous and yelling at me.

We checked in very late at night. The front desk clerk acted as if we were bothering his video game time to check us in! They might as well say NO parking because it is VERY limited. Very run down & old. Thankfully we were just staying 1 night. I definitely wouldn’t bring kids. Sheets seemed clean thankfully. Carpet stained & dirty. Just an overall bad experience.

Decent budget hotel good location, downtown Bethesda. They sneak in a $20 parking charge, but you can park cheaper in public lots if your arr not staying all day.

I like the location, easy access to transportation, food options in the area are awesome, it was nice to have a walk at night in the area and feel comfortable and safe.

10 min walk from Washington Metro. A variety of restaurants within a 10 min walk and a nice Mexican restaurant right outside the front door.

Staying at the American Inn was really nice and very convenient. I appreciated the price immensely and the ease of booking it. However, I would encourage the facility to ensure guests know about alternative parking options. It was pretty hard to figure out what to do other than to park at the very small lot that the hotel had. So if there could be information given to people about where they can park overnight or even a deal with the Bethesda Hotel that guests can park there at a different rate would be appreciated. Otherwise, very solid hotel - for a modest sensibly priced spaceright in the heart of Bethesda. Four blocks from the Metro 20 minutes from downtown DC. Well done!

The musty carpet smell greeted us upon entering the room. The toilet flush lever would leak a bit of water after every flush which was alarming at first. Curtain chains were not working -- the blackout curtains were also not even attached to a bar and was somehow semi attached to the wall with gaping holes, so at night, people in the building across could certainly see in. Continental breakfast was not in fact continental -- it was a paper bag with an apple, yogurt, muffin, and a small bottle of water. Stayed for 5 nights, and after 2 days there was no housekeeping done though it is advertised as daily housekeeping. When asked, was told it was done every few days (we got ours after 3 days). TV in the room also did not work but couldn't be bothered to ask for a different room since it likely wasnt just this room that had issues. There was some pink mold in the corners of the bathtub, and small amounts of old grime in the corners and edges that are probably difficult to get cleaned given the age of the building. Overall, the room was small but it was not a bad stay since the building was calm, bedding and towels were clean, and was near a Trader Joe's with other food establishments a walk away, but the small things that were not working started to add up during the stay. At least there was a desk and mini fridge to keep some food and drinks.

Stay was okay. There was no parking available even though ut mentions that parking is available. There was no breakfast either. So i would say disappointed 😞

The h after didn't work, my room was either freezing or too warm. The bed wasn't very comfortable. The breakfast was a HUGE disappointment, the pictures on hotels.com showed a hot breakfast, but instead it was a grab and go breakfast with a poor selection that left me feeling hungry, if I would have known there was not actually a hot breakfast included with my stay, I would have picked something else.

The staff members were friendly and accommodating and that was the best part of our stay at American Inn of Bethesda. The photos and the advertising are not indicative of what we found. There was no breakfast despite the advertising. The staff was apologetic and hoped a grab and go breakfast bag might be available. But nothing was available. There was no shuttle to the Metro. (Shuttle was available to nearby medical facilities for patients.) The TV got one channel of shows from the 70s. The place looks tired and in need of an uplift, particularly the bathroom. Again, I want to emphasize the front desk folks were wonderful and kind.

We stayed here because it was the cheapest hotel near our daughter in Bethesda , Maryland. Would not stay again ! Supposed breakfast but no coffee available. We got yogurt.

Checked in around 10 pm. Front desk lady wanted to charge me for parking as I wandered to get some food literally next door. Woke up to most disgusting bath tub where I had to place a towel inside so my feet would not touch the tub. There breakfast was literally in a brown paper bag

Bathroom not cleaned. And they don't offer any continental breakfast at all. I will never put my feet in this place and I don't recommend it to anyone
