Super 8 by Wyndham Portland ME

Check in took a long time. Only 1 person working and not friendly. Hotel old and needs updating. Pool closed. 1st room had broken lock and dirty towel hanging on bathroom door. I went to desk to get new room. We did, it had a working lock and clean towels. No usb outlets, few electric outlets. Could hear people coming and going til late. Could hear people walking across floors above us.

They need a elevator for access to second floor.

Moldy and dusty. Cobwebs on ceiling. Pool and ice machine out of order. No elevator and they wouldn’t give us a room on 1st floor. We asked for a refund on room. They said we had to get it from Expedia. Expedia said refunds were up to the hotel. We have made a complaint with Maine Department of Health.

Super 8 shows a swimming pool and exercise room on the property that does not exist there. That was a big disappointment. The window in the room didn't have locks and could easily be open from outside considering that my room was on the ground floor.

The service was great and the staff were very polite. I was disappointed the pool was out of service the entire time. They were short staffed so you specifically had to request the staff to clean or provide more towels. For the price paid, the breakfast would be considered adequate but was a bit disappointing selection wise.

Two story with no elevator and only one set of stairs. Sink was so clogged it was nonfunctional.

The property was unsafe and the room smelled like an ashtray, the back door remained opened for the smokers and an authorized guest to come and go at the time of the day/night. I claim has been file for a full refund.

This is a two story structure and there are no elevators. This was simple, basic lodging. The price was the best in the area. The breakfast was a farce. The advertised pool wasn't open and apparently hasn't been open for quite awhile.

Hot tub heater was broken. Disappointing after a day of hiking. Everything else was fine.

Breakfast was very basic. The coffe tasted and smell like mold. The had a big container of butter and cream cheese for everyone to share. Worst experience ever. The comon areas were dirty and the sheets and towels were dirty too.

Room was unclean. Old food and grease stains on the carpet in several areas. Fridge was full from the last guest. Blankets were full of holes. Keycards did not work. breakfast machines were broken and supplies were not sufficient. There was a hole in the bathroom door that looked like someone had punched it. There were rips on the lamp shades. There were not enough outlets for our devices and only one nightstand for 2 beds. The hotel was supposed to be non smoking but the air in almost all hallways was thick with the smell of cannabis smoke. The shower pressure great though and there is plenty of parking.

Hotel was nothing like pictures. Very dirty with water leaking through ceiling into out room.

The chair, carpet, curtains, box springs protector all had stains. I was scared to put my bare feet on the floor. The ice maker was broken on second floor. Air conditioning worked barely. The steps up to second floor were a trip hazard with chunks broken off. Some of the steps were duct taped to try to make safer, but not all. Bathroom door would not shut due to bent door jam.

The space was very dirty. Sheets with stains and they had hair that wasn't mine. The bathroom was horrendously dirty. The whole place stunk of cigarettes, when I asked to move to a different room the other room was worse... would never recommend someone stay there

I guess I should have read reviews before I booked. The pictures were definitely not an accurate depiction of this hotel. The smell as soon as you walk in was horrendous. The bathroom was disgusting. Hair on the floor and a moldy shower.

The room was filthy. The hot water in the bathroom sink ran continuously, we had to shut the valve off. We had 2 rooms on opposite ends of the hall. When we asked if they could be together...they said they are in the same hall!. The 2nd room had carpet nails coming through the carpet and the bathroom. My granddaughter stepped on it and punctured her little toe.She is 2. It smelled like smoke. the side door was not locked. AC was so loud we had to shut it off.

Worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in. Room was dirty and smelled like feet and marijuana. The comforter was visibly dirty. Bathroom was disgusting and had mold in the shower. Did not feel safe. Chain on door was broken. Breakfast was awful with bagels and English muffins in ziplock baggies. Toaster didn’t work.

Absolutely terrible experience! When we arrived at the front desk, another guest was already complaining about cockroaches in their room — that should have been the first red flag. Still, we decided to check our room, and it was disgusting. The bed wasn’t even changed after the previous guests — the sheets were full of hair and stains, and the whole place smelled dirty. The chairs and floors were filthy, the bathroom looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in weeks, and we honestly felt uncomfortable even touching anything. We immediately left and booked another hotel. When we asked for a refund, the staff refused and didn’t seem to care at all about how bad the conditions were. This was one of the worst hotel experiences we’ve ever had. Do yourself a favor and don’t stay here — it’s not worth your money or your health. Later when trying to get a refund Amy the manager told Expedia we spent the night and refused to help in getting a refund.

Bathroom was dirty, towels were dirty and stained

Clean bed and room. Door lock broken, toilet seat broken, tub in poor shape. But cheap and as I said, clean.

Well lets just say it is not a very quiet hotel. Walls are paper thin, floors not much better as it soynd like a heard of elephants walking around above us. A dog barking the next couple rooms up. Finally got to sleep and 1 AM there goes the stomping around again above us. Not for us

The property is poorly maintained. The tub did not drain the walls and carpet where very worn, in fact the whole building was worn. The room and two plugs and were located in inconvenient spaces. The room was provided with a coffee maker, refrigerator and microwave, none of which were plugged in and there was no plug near them. In order to use the refrigerator I moved it across the room. Every sound made in the hallway could be easily heard in the room and sounds from other rooms (dogs barking, babies crying, etc) could also be heard.

This property needs updated badly. The room we had the mattress had a dip in it. The room didn't come with a microwave or refrigerator as pictured. Breakfast was lacking.

The room had filthy windows, beaten up bathroom door, really old carpet, non working tv. No tissues, had to request wash cloths and toilet paper. Heating/cooling unit missing a cover, exposing a disgusting interior. Very unappealing place. Breakfast area was clean, and plenty of breakfast products.

The hotel seems to be pretty run down. I don't know if it's in the process of being remodeled or not but the part we stayed in was quite worn. Also some things were not provided in the room such as Kleenex and one night shampoo and conditioner. Also, they have a terrible neighbor, the credit union next door has a generator right by the parking lot by the front door of the hotel that runs pretty much all the time. It's extremely noisy. I don't know if they don't pay their bills or why they would need to be running a generator

When we got into the room, the first thing I noticed was that the door wouldn't shut properly. You really have to push on it to close it all the way. Major safety issue if you're a woman traveling alone. I travel a lot, & I always check for bedbugs. While inspecting the mattress, I noticed that the top sheets on the beds were absolutely filthy. It was obvious housekeeping was cutting corners. We had been driving all day & I was exhausted, & could feel a migraine coming on, so I just pulled them off. I tried to call the front desk twice about it, but they never answered the phone. At this point, my head was spinning, so I just crashed. The next morning, I went to take a shower & found a dirty towel in the bathtub along with some hair, I was disgusted but really needed to hit the road, so I just rinsed it out, & then washed up. While getting out of the shower, the light fixture covering the bathroom light/fan fell & hit me in the head. At this point, I was just mad & tried to call the front desk again. Finally, someone picked up. I told him everything that was wrong, & he tried to blame me for not saying anything the night before. Then he said it was their housekeepers 2nd violation in 2 days. Next, he went on to say they couldn't offer a refund because I was a third-party reservation & would have to contact Orbitz. So, I did. Orbitz called them & spoke to Nick who said they would't offer any compensation. Nothing about the price tag makes this hotel worth your money.

The place was ok. I mean the wife and I really didn’t stay too much in the room because we went sightseeing throughout the days we were there. The room was just really outdated, but then again, it was a cheap price, so you get what you pay for I guess. The bed, in my opinion, was very uncomfortable. The TV was placed in a crazy position. The room smelled like bleach, which I guess means it is clean lol. The hairdryer came right off the wall the 2nd day we were there. The shower did have great pressure, I will give them that. The employees were ok. They just acted like “I’m here” The vending machine was broken the whole time we were there (4 days). It just appears that they really don’t care anymore about keeping up with the times. In closing, if all you’re going to do is sleep there, then maybe it will be alright for you. It all depends on your sleep in the bed.

Room door didn’t lock without banging it and messing with it till it clicked, hallway & stairs were dirty and stunk, room was musty, breakfast was basic but ok, the lady tending to the buffet was rude..nobody emptied trash or refilled towels, when we asked for more towels and wash cloths they didn’t have any.. was a basic bed to sleep .. if you could over the noisy people in the hall

Very dated motel, location is ok. One entrance/exit. No fridge in room, broken toilet handle (I fixed) tub surround no longer sealed and filled with toilet paper, tub and sink do not drain properly. Showers turn into tub washes as it fills up. Air conditioner cycles randomly and dated.

I was approved for an early check-in, but refused a room when I tried to get one. The young lady at the counter was drab, rude, and mumbled every word. I ultimately had to wait three hours in the parking lot for them to clean a room for me. Sheets were dirty. Floor was dirty.

The check in literally took 45 minutes and the line was backed up a long way. I was actually 4th in line and when I was done felt like I had won the lottery. The desk blamed it on not being able to clean rooms due to people not leaving on time but the process still took forever. He was trying hard but I felt sorry for him.

I stayed 3 nights at this hotel, and the staff was mostly friendly and cordial. The problem started just before my last night of stay when their cleaning staff completely cleaned my room as if I was checking out: they took all my clothes, toiletries, and hearing aid charger out of my room. I assumed it had been stolen and went to the front desk to let them know. The night shift had just come on, and they were able to find my hearing aid charger but nothing else. They mentioned there was a maid they suspected was the thief, and they assured me they would look into it. I asked to speak to the manager, but they said the manager wouldn't be in until 9am the next morning. When the manager arrived the next morning, I had to repeat the entire story (nobody had told her about the issue). They looked at camera footage and the cleaning schedule and figured out someone had cleaned my room even though it wasn't on the schedule. However, they couldn't locate the items removed from my room, and the maid who performed the cleaning wouldn't be in until later that day (no attempt to call maid). I had an airplane to catch, so I left my contact info. They called me later that day and claimed they found my items stuffed in an upstairs closet. They took my address and promised to mail the items the next day. Four months later, and I still haven't received my stuff. Every phone call I've made has gone unanswered. If you choose to stay here, don't leave anything in your room when you're not there.

Stayed there for a week never got housekeeping. Had to go get clean towels myself. No one really spoke English.

When checking in they gave us a room that was already occupied by another customer. Luckily they weren’t in the room when we opened the door. The second room we were given the rug was wet. The third room they tried to give us the rug was wet also. They stated that they just cleaned them. We went back to the second room. The breakfast was average. The staff was accommodating with dealing with issues. Just appears to be a lack of organization.

You get what you pay for. Property was subpar, rundown, and dingy. I only stayed one night and wasn’t expecting anything special but this was even less than expected. Vending machine was out of order, pool was out of order and the staff canceled my reservation 15 mins after I checked in. How do I know this happened? A group walked into my locked room at 9pm, surprised it was occupied then left. The evening clerk apologized for the error but didn’t know why my reservation was cancelled. I will not be staying there again.

Reasonable place for late airport arrivals.

Needs updating in a bad way. More lighting, more security, less people living in their cars in the parking lot, more secure entrances. Less smoking near the building. Staff were great at the front desk!

Many homeless camping out behind the property. While nobody bothered us, it did make for an uncomfortable feeling.

Perfect for a short stay. We left early in the morning so didn't stay long but it's close to the airport so a convenient location.

On the positive side the young man working at the desk was helpful and nice. We checked in, put our bags in the room, went to dinner and decided we didn’t want to stay there. Came back and checked out. The area around the hotel didn’t feel safe. There were people drinking in the parking lot near the entrance when we checked in and they were still there when we came back 2 hours later. There appeared to be a fair amount of sketchy activity including the partying in the parking lot and what looked like sex workers checking in. We don’t know if that was actually the case but it sure looked like it. After we decided to leave we asked if we could get a refund. The young man at the desk said he would try. He then said since it was booked through Expedia that we had to go through them. We did and he approved the refund. We didn’t feel safe staying there and would have left regardless of whether we got a refund.

Nice location between portland and old orchard property was also pet friendly

Good place right off the highway. No elevators so you have to climb stairs. Room was clean and very comfortable beds. Kevin was awesome

entire hotel smelled like smoke. People living under a semi parked on property, people congregating by doors to smoke. didn't feel very safe

Affordable and convenient to the airport.

Recently redone outside but needs landscaping and litter picked up outside. Inside very clean and newly done dining area. Good breakfast with options for hot cereal, bagels, etc.

Easy access off interstate. Continental breakfast was very sparse.

Quite outdated with old carpet flooring, but our stay was just fine. Light breakfast in the morning was very nice!

I did not like the lack of easy TV watching. The streaming app. Was not easy to navigate. Big time waster. And no pool was disappointing. Good continental breakfast but not much gtesh things.
