Sleep Inn & Suites Allendale

Room was very old and dusty. Carpet needed a good cleaning, stains on one of my pillows and we specifically chose this hotel due to indoor pool and it was closed for maintenance repair without any notification.

Nice hotel with great breakfast, clean pool and friendly helpful attendents. The only con was how uncomfortable the beds were. They were hard for me. Did i sleep? Yes, but they were not soft like my back likes but i would come back again and again.

Beds were comfortable. Restaurant across parking lot was fantastic! Pool could be warmer and felt really dirty around the deck but decent in the actual pool. Staff were friendly and breakfast was fantastic!

Pool has been out of order every time we stay?? I’m not sure if it’s bad luck or it’s bad maintenance?? The normal hotel breakfast. The room was clean and quiet service counter was friendly.

Place is pretty old, it even has that old smell when you walk in. No real lobby to chill in, just an old looking couch by the front desk. Breakfast was pretty gross honestly. I usually love biscuits and gravy but these were not good at all, waffles were the only okay thing. The pool area is a big no, dingy and unkept, same as the gym. The rooms also have the old AC units. That keep turning on every 5-10 minutes, and they’re pretty loud. Overall, i would not come here again.

Clean and quiet property. Only downside pool wasn’t heated due to missing part waiting to arrive. Neighborhood is calm and people are friendly. Easy location to drive to surrounding areas.

Just an average older hotel, vending machines didn't work, pool did not look very appealing and there was no one at the front desk the majority of the time. But it's the only hotel in Allendale.

Hotel in good condition. Dining nearby. Ample free parking. Comfortable beds. Good shower.

Literal poop on the toilet paper roll and on the bathroom door.

The floor was absolutely disgusting; turned feet and socks black. The shower had a dingy film on it

Very clean, nice staff, and breakfast

The toilet was broken. The sink leaked. Light bulbs were out. The carpets were very dirty. We let the front desk know and they said “ok.” This is upsetting. We have students GVSU and this hotel is not an option when we visit.

When we arrived to our room we were immediately hit with a nauseating smell of mildew and mold. The front desk clerk was kind enough to offer us a different room, but we still found several items that were not cleaned or had stains on them in our room. The smell of marijuana was pretty profound on the first floor despite this being a smoke-free hotel. I will say the staff were very friendly, but the cleanliness of the hotel, or lack thereof, will be reason we will not be returning.

Clean room, very nice staff, convenient.

Nice, very clean appearing place to stay, with excellent breakfast and very pleasant staff. The only downside was the very musty smell in our room. It looked clean, but smelled as if the carpet had been wet for a long time.

Room 217. It was like staying in a tin can. You can hear everything going on. The shower in the room above us was so loud and it sounded like there was a Jacuzzi tub as well. The jets were so loud up to 2 am. I would stay again but preview the room they pick first.

My daughter goes to school at GVSU and I have stayed several times at Sleep Inn. Generally it’s in good conditions, but this particular time our sleep was interrupted several times during the night because the AC unit would make a loud noise when cycling on.

Room was clean, shower was good. However the shower door doesn't block the water from escaping onto the floor outside. Pretty much every outlet needs to be replaced from overuse. Anything you plugged in was falling out because of how loose it was. Besides that everything was good

The Tub need a new drain basket cannot put plug in to take a bath. Shower heads need to be replaced. Bathroom faucet needs to be replaced leaks under handle. Needs new Toilet seat move badly.

Overall the place was good for one night. It was comfortable and quiet.

Rooms paper think walls could hear conversations in rooms next to us.

The closet door was broken and it was hard to regulate the temperature in the room. The tv channel guide was completely wrong and there were no tv instructions.

It was nice to find a place so close to GVSU, however, lots of items seemed broke. Lightbulbs out. Phone didn't work to call front desk. The TV remote didn't work and they couldn't fix it. Most of these are pretty small issues but it was a little annoying. Overall, it was an okay place to stay for the value.

Really enjoyed my stay here. It was clean and convenient. Staff was friendly. Although there was an issue with my room and what floor I was supposed to be on originally the staff accommodated me as best they could to resolve the issue.

Super nice girl at the front desk when we checked in! She offered great suggestions and was helpful and welcoming. 😊

Great staff

Front desk agent was young and ignorant I did not get a chance to get his name but jis attitude was very rude, he was so thirsty to rebook my room that he brought my clothes downstairs unpacked so the room could be cleaned. Check out was at 11am... ...I was attending an event down the road and waitmg for my Uber to pull up. I got a back to the Sleep Inn at 11:15am .....he had already transitioned my belongings out the room SMH

Staff was amazingly nice, went out of their way to accomodate us and the room was clean.

Room wasn't ready until 5:30 which is 2 and a half hours after they were supposed to be ready. The poor, young girl trying to check people in was scrambling to get information from housekeeping to get people into rooms but couldn't due to a language barrier. Also, she tried to call her managers and they were no help to her. They just let her flounder on her own.

Check-in took 20 minutes while we stood there while the attendant kept answering the phone. She said she was instructed to answer phones first before taking care of customers standing in front of her. I think is hugely misguided from delivering any level of customer service.

Our room unfortunately was not ready when we arrived at 4:00 (3:00 was checkin). We were not able to get in until 5:45. The young lady at the desk was VERY professional in helping those of us in the same predicament. She was making all the calls she could to get housekeeping moving while handling some not so friendly guests. Everything else has been great.

Problem on top of problems. 1st - I requested a king room on the first floor and the lady over the phone said "sure no problem". The king room that I was given had problems with the a/c not working correctly (room 107). Front desk lady explained the hotel was fully booked for the night so there were no rooms to switch to. So I did not get a good nights rest because the a/c unit issue. 2nd- The next day, I tell the first shift lady about the a/c issue. She comes to change the batteries in the wall unit and the ac still is not regulating (it will only blow out VERY cold air NON STOP, no ability to adjust it AT ALL stuck on 59 degrees). After a while, she then offered another room upstairs but we would have to pack up all of our belongs, change our plans for that day to take time out to move rooms AND moving upstairs would have been more of a hassle for my senior citizen mother. So I said we'll plan to switch later since there would be a 1st floor room available later. We come back later, my mother was too tired to do all of that moving so I struggled through another night. Next morning in room 107, the toilet broke/stopped flushing. At that point I had time and energy to move to a new room so We were given a new room. At check-out I told the guy about the problems and he offered to provide for my troubles of $8.99 reimbursement. That was insulting BUT I still never received that. I have more to share but hotels.com only gave me up to 1000 words to be able to type.

Property and surrounding area is safe and was fine for an overnight visit to see my kid at GVSU. Check in was easy and quick as was checkout. Room was nice and clean except for dusty in the corners like it needed a deep clean, nothing that was unacceptable. There weren't many other guests during my stay but be aware that if there is someone staying in the room above you, you will hear every move they make. Breakfast was very basic but good for a quick bite. Lots of other food options nearby too. Definitely would stay again. Very convenient to GVSU.

Great location. Breakfast could have used more staff, poor 1 lady could not keep up.

The clerk that checked us in Wednesday evening was exceptionally friendly and helpful. The only complaint I have is with the breakfast; I'd prefer a larger food selection that includes eggs, omelets, meat, etc.

Staff was kind and friendly, they were just plain excellent. Commendations were very nice and very clean. I’ve got to tell you the continental breakfast the best I’ve ever had at a place, much more than I expected.😀 we’ll definitely be staying there again, when I’m even close to the area😀

The room was nice, but the breakfast was terrible. There was something wrong with the waffle mix. It had a sour taste, and could not be eaten. Others also had the same experience around us. Additionally, my children wanted cereal m, filled their bowls, but then were told there’s no milk available. Surely this place can do a better job.
