Hampton Inn Gaylord

The sheets had many gross stains on them as did the chair in our room. We tried to touch as few things in the room as possible. The staff seemed kind and wanted to be helpful, but most of the hotel’s amenities were under construction and we weren’t able to use them despite what was advertised both on they website and on Expedia’s. The pool was one of the things closed for renovations, and my kids were very upset. The hotel was falsely advertised as having things that we were unable to use, and we would have booked somewhere else if we had known. The hallways also smelled of pain and construction. It was not a pleast stay at all!

Only 1 luggage cart for the whole hotel which was never available for check in or the rest of the night— hard for older guests like us!

It would've been nice to know before booking that this place was undergoing major construction. We stayed at this hotel because of amenities like the pool and fitness center, both were unusable when we arrived. We weren’t even sure if we were still going to get breakfast in the morning because the lady at check in was short and didn’t mention anything. Having the breakfast was probably the only half decent thing about this place. The first floor was entirely torn apart and you had to be careful where to step. Even a room or two away where we were staying on the second floor was in the same conditions. There were cigarette buds on the floor despite being a nonsmoking hotel and the entire place reeked like paint thinner and construction. We had our dog with us, and we had to carry her throughout the entire hotel so she didn’t accidentally step on something harmful. They were also doing construction as late as 10pm at night and we are early birds, so it kinda sucked. We wouldn’t have been upset if there was a warning beforehand but this hotel was basically unusable and it was really disappointing upon arrival. Have never had any issues with this hotel or any of their branches before, but honestly they’re better off closing during all this remodeling, or at least have the decency to warn people.

This hotel has a good location to big box stores and restaurants as well as the highway. It is a very short drive to the downtown district. The pool was closed, and not noted before arrival. This was an issue for me as that was the reason i booked this location. The staff could obviously not do anything about it but also did not respond well. I felt that i was inconveniencing her with checking in. The room was clean and comfortable. Even with the location being quite close to the highway, and the hotel being very full it was hushed. Overall i would stay here again if the price reflects what is available for use.

Renovations ver inconvenient.

The property was clean and the breakfast was nice. Check-in went well. Cons- the exterior door that should always be locked, wasn’t locked ever so anyone could walk in. The fire alarm went off around 5:00am for a short period of time.

Under renovation, no warning the pool or fitness center was closed. Found hair on the sheets. Kinda grubby place

Staff was friendly, room was clean and comfortable. Nice breakfast. We were looking forward to pool time, but it was closed during our stay. Huge impact on the 4 year old traveler! Wish we had known ahead of time. Overall, very good!

Our stay was good. It would have been excellent if our room would have had a micro wave so that we could have heated our coffee we had gotten from the front desk as it was not warm. A plus is the parking, as we had a boat. In fact that was the primary reason for staying at the hotel.

Property was dated, fitness center was out of order, and the elevator smelled so heavily of cleaning chemicals it gave me a headache

The bed had black dog hair and dirt and dirty paw prints. It was obvious a dog had been sleeping in the middle of the bed and the room had not been cleaned. The bathroom was filthy as well. When I asked to be moved to a clean room, especially since I have allergies, I was told they were booked and couldn't refund. They eventually had a "head housekeeper", who also stated she was the manager, drive in to "thoroughly" clean the room. All she did was change the bedding. The bathroom wasnt cleaned, the place was dusty, not vacuumed, etc. Also, the TV kept going out.

The carpet was abysmally dirty there were q-tips all over the floor left over from the previous occupant. I'm not sure the room was even cleaned prior to our arrival

The hotel was just ok. The comforter wouldn’t stay in its cover and it was covered in stains, like it had never been washed. We went to the breakfast in the morning but by the time we got there, there was no pancake mix left and the counters were covered in used cups from people who had used the pancake mix, along with food people had spilled. I have to assume they were short staffed, but it wasn’t ideal for my hungry kiddo. Normally I love Hampton Inn, but I think we will avoid this location in the future.

Last minute booking while on the road. Good value for the price- clean room and property. Walkable to the Walmart next door, which allowed for refreshing our supplies on our road trip. Beds were very firm. Standard continental breakfast but well stocked and clean dining area.

The lobby is nice but the room was not cleaned very well and there were a lot stains on the carpet. There was pee all over the toilet, top and bottom. Fromk desk lady had to come reclean our bathroom.

The cleanliness of the main lobby and breakfast area were fine, but the room I stayed in was not clean and was very disappointing. One of the comforter had blood stains on it. The bathroom was not clean. The ceiling vent looked as it hasn't been cleaned for months, and shower/tub area, including tiled walls, had many pink mold spots. Especially, the shower head was covered with the pink mold, and i had to clean it myself before I let my kids use the shower. My family and I stayed 2 nights at this hotel, but there was no evidence of someone cleaning the room after the first night.

Room was dirty! Underwear on the floor, trash behind the chair

Bedding had a huge brown stain on it. Surface mold on the ceiling in the shower area. Very dusty, floors not been swept or moped. Mini fridge was dirty.

The shower head needed cleaned or replaced. The hot water was not very hot. It was mold in the sink and in the shower area. The rest of the room was decent and spacious.

Our room (126) needed some renovating (chipped furniture, coffee maker was old, picture on wall missing) I believe that this hotel is in the process of renovating. We stayed a second night in another room at this Hampton and it was PERFECT. Outstanding breakfast!

No microwave in room.

Our room was large, newly renovated, clean, and comfortable. My only complaint was the breakfast and morning staff. At breakfast, there were few choices for a healthy breakfast. The yogurt ran out and wasn't refilled. I waited for 15 minutes then asked the staff if they had more. She gave me a rude look and nodded abruptly, then went and did something else and finally refilled the yogurt. The juice machine was turned off 15 minutes before the posted end time for breakfast.

The beds are absolutely atrocious!!! Its like sleeping on a concrete pad.

The only issue I had with my stay is the type of pillow. The pillows were unbelievably too soft. I put 2 of them together, but it didn't help. Otherwise the stay was fine.

There’s a reason it’s the cheapest hotel around. Our room had a big window with no covering other than a thin cloth curtain, the bright lights from the neighboring Walmart parking lot lit up our room all night. The walls are very thin and you can hear every footstep, closed door, and conversation from the hallway and neighboring rooms. Room seemed clean and it did the trick for our budget friendly ski trip, but would not recommend if you are in need of a great night’s sleep. This is a “get what you pay for” type of place.

Check in person was not friendly. They only had one luggage cart. There was trash outside the front door.

Shannon at checkin was the rudest person I have ever encountered. She never said helllo or looked up from her computer. Her people skills were nonexistent!

The staff was friendly and professional.

I called two days after we left when I realized we left our jackets in the closet of our room. The desk clerk said nothing had been found. I called again two days later, and the desk clerk was very helpful,, checking the lost, and found, saying they had our jackets, thank you to Hampton Inn! Our stay was short, but enjoyable.

The assistant manager was extremely rude to my husband trying to check in. Cheryl however, was so amazing, friendly and funny that it made up for it.

The front desk hostess on Saturday Oct 18 was rude, unhelpful, and quite frankly dishonest. OK maybe not dishonest but clearly ill informed. We booked down the road for another two nights. Your loss

Didn't have breakfast...our stay was something that I have never experienced..We were given 2 different rooms that already had guests in them..The fridge was leaking into the floor when we tried to open and it was ready to fall through the floor..No shower curtain was in the room and tissue was empty..this was finally when we did get the room...The new person on the desk that night never apologized ..We did have a very nice lady that did help us and was very apologetic..We checked out in the morning and made the desk clerk aware of our stay..She was very apologetic and said that she would discuss with management as to see if any compensation would be given..I have never experienced any thing like this nor seen such. Rundown room!

We have about 30 hotel nights a year The staff (front desk) was the most pleasant experience I have ever had. This hotel was on our route home. There is a Walmart and many other stores next door.

Desk clerk met us at the door, so we didn’t have to track someone down for a late check in. Comfy beds. Clean room, hallway and stairwell. Overall pleasant experience and great night sleep.

Front desk staff friendly & efficient. Easy hwy access and quiet.

This Hampton Inn was located just off the interstate and very convenient for travel. All the shopping and dining was located within minutes of the hotel, and several places were within walking distance. Walkable included a mall with Walmart and Lowes. Just down the road was brand new retail shops that were very safe, clean and convenient. There were several dining options, with a Bob Evans restaurant right at the edge of the parking lot. The breakfast was in the hotel was great, with lots of options for sit down or on the go. It included make your own waffles with fresh fruit and slice almonds. There were no draw backs to this hotel, however would have been even better if they had a hot tub.

Very nice hotel with hot breakfast and accommodating staff. Close to town with plenty of amenities.

Liked the location….twice, when I needed to speak to the front desk, there was o one available….am sorry, but breakfast could use some improvement……coffee was great….but powdered eggs?

Spent the night on our way to Interlochen. Was exactly what we needed a clean room for the night. Had a pool that looked well kept. Breakfast was included and was great - i am vegan and there was even something for me! Staff was very attentive and friendly!

Convenient location. Nice exercise room. Not a lot of breakfast options. At 9 they were out of scrambled eggs... Wish they had a hot tub / whirlpool.
