Overall the stay was pleasant. The staff were very polite and friendly. The room was clean and well stocked. Breakfast was nice as well, with an assortment of foods. The negatives are parking is an extra $11.50 and the pool is not on site. The pool is shared with the hotel next door.

Quiet and convenient to Rte. 40 Unaware that parking is not free which is common in metro areas but this was far from metro. And, when paying online for parking, the website NEVER showed me how much I was paying for parking. The exercise room was a joke...3 cardio machines but no weights, towels or (I believe) water.

The front desk staff, dining room and cleaning staff were all professional and friendly - service was great. Room was clean and the location was convenient. However, the $11/night parking fee was not shown when making a reservation and was a shock. We have never paid for parking at a hotel unless in NYC, DC or Boston. We will not return unless the room rate + the parking fee are competitive! On top of that - four (4) cars were broken into one night when we were there - not our car. But there are no security cameras in the lot where guests have to PAY to park!! CRAZY!

I had 2 situations . My room wasn’t clean after I returned from the hospital. Trash and no towels. Hair was in my tub when I first checked in and I went and bought my own supplies and cleaned my tub.I did reached out to Miss Ray and she did give me towels. I truly appreciate her for helping me out. I will not let this discourage me from coming back. I definitely will be there very soon. Thx

First time ever to pay for parking at an Express. ESPN was out for the whole stay. The under the window AC unit had no way to direct airflow, so it constantly blew across the bed making it uncomfortably cold there to get the rest of the room cool. Could hear people above walking when the TV was off. Found a roach crawling on the desk this morning. Staff was very nice.

Room was very clean, the available snacks came in handy at night, and the coffee and juice were good in the morning. The hotel provides body wash, shampoo, conditioner, liquid hand soap, and lotion, which is very nice.

Room was mildew and musty. Only one tiny elevator, hot water was scalding. Air conditioning not good. Room frig very loud . Chose it because it was close to UNC MD Had we known there was a Hampton Inn right next door we would have stayed there

The person who checked me in was super helpful and one of the friendliest people I’ve ever met. The beds were extremely comfortable in the fridge kept my stuff very cold. I stayed there because my two-year-old was having surgery in the morning and it was super close to the hospital.

Very disappointed about the pool situation.. they claim to have a pool but its actually a shared outdoor pool at the hotel next door. Had i known that before booking we would've stayed somewhere else. Two of the ladies at the front desk were very friendly and helpful. The guy who checked us in was not very polite and didn't seem like he wanted to be there..

I wasn’t told that rooms are only serviced every OTHER day. I left a large tip in Christmas Day via your “e-tip” service…but there was no service. Front desk staff were basically invisible. I know it was a holiday but the first floor was deserted and did not offer a feeling of safety to an older woman traveling alone.

This is a nice hotel and we have always tried to stay here when we are in Chapel Hill because it is so conveniently located to campus. But...there was a problem with significant noise from a college team staying there and when I complained, the person at the front desk was not as responsive as I think she should have been. She did go tell them they needed to reduce the noise but she also told me I could have knocked on the door and told them myself. That is NOT my responsibility and such tasks are what I am paying their staff to do. I might note that we had a very similar problem here last year with a rowdy college team that partied all night with very little response from the management. Given these 2 events, we are considering finding another hotel in the future which is regretful because we like staying here.

We needed a last-minute hotel stay. My husband was scheduled for day surgery at UNC. Late the day before we were informed he had to check in at the hospital at 5:30 am. Being that we live over 50 miles away, we needed to quickly find an overnight hotel stay. Based on reviews and the closeness of this hotel to UNC Hospitals, we booked with Holiday Inn Express Chapel Hill by IHG. Everything was perfect for our needs. Close to the hospital, a reasonable room fee, clean rooms, and friendly staff. However, we didn't realize that to stay at this hotel, there is a fee to park on the hotel property. We paid $10 plus a $1.50 service fee to park in the hotel parking lot during our stay from approx 4pm Wednesday night til 5:30 am Thursday morning. That was a little unusual in our past hotel experiences as we never had to pay to park at a hotel where we paid to stay. Maybe that's usual at Chapel Hill Hotels? Regardless, I recommend this hotel, as long as you are aware of the additional parking fee.
