The first eye sore was a leaky spot in the ceiling in the loft. First day was a bucket then the next day was a trash can. It was right in the way of the hallway to the elevators by the bar. The rooms were clean, however we had issues with the AC unit in room 607. We spent quite a bit for 2 rooms (607 & 609) from Friday to Sunday. The room continuously stayed hot. We turned the unit all the way down to 60 at some point to get it at least comfortable in the room but it was miserable, especially at night. Asking the front desk, my husband was told "someone can come check but honestly a lot of them are just old". During the day it seemed to work, but at night it didnt. The other room worked fine but once we closed the door, ours would get muggy almost instantly. The first night after a long day walking around Chapel Hill, we wanted to relax in the pool. Terrible idea. The room entering the pool was so stuffy and it looked run down. Rusted poles and handicap lift was definitely an issue for us. We tried the pool still giving it the benefit of the doubt and not wanting to disappoint the kids, but about 5 minutes in, the kids were ready to leave and everyone was uncomfortable. The water had a strong salt taste/feel when the kids tried to go under and instantly dried out their skin. We went back upstairs to wash off. Realizing I left my shower essentials behind, I was disappointed that the shower gel, shampoo, and conditioner was all "mens". Not to mention room 609's were empty.

The staff at the front desk was friendly and helpful. The gym is well equipped. The hotel is very clean and nicely decorated. Easy walk / drive around. There is parking available outside and also a parking deck that is within walking distance.

Lovely clean and cozy property located within 10 min driving distance from downtown Chapel Hill. Staff is wonderful, especially bartender Malieah! We had so much fun, and she is so kind to host us after wedding guests at the hotel bar.

The water was turned off for practically our whole stay and when finally was turned back on - it was ice cold and wouldn’t get warm. There was leaks in hallway that was so soaked my heels were wet and squishy walking thru water. It smelled like mildew/mold. Couldn’t flush our toilet. Couldn’t tell if employees in lobby were employee or guests… nothing was stocked in lobby for purchase. Bananas rotted, had cereal but no milk. Only 2-3 cold bottle of water. Buckets/ladders all over for leaks. Basics of hotel were not accommodated. Want a refund. Awful experience. No warning given to us hotel was damaged with leaks and water would be off.

I’ve stayed at this property when in town for work probably a dozen times over the past 2 years. It always has its issues but it’s a good value for a basic room, clean and good location for me. This time it was very different. It seems like the entire hotel was under construction with zero concessions or notice given to guests. No lobby, no food, no bar, no pool and no gym. Had to enter thru a dirty cockroach infested side service door in the pouring rain. I was put in the loudest (hearing impaired) room for no apparent reason. Internet and cable not working. Promise my daughter there would be a pool, packed swimsuits and booked this hotel over other options for that reason. Nothing to do on the property because literally everything was closed off. Planed on watching a movie.. no movie, no internet.. could not even get phone service. Honestly it was probably the worst hotel experience ever. They should issue a full refund!!

No breakfast - only a make to order from a tv menu pointed out by staff Litter in hallway not picked up Old hotel and needs updating Would not recommend to friends or family and we will be frequenting chapel hill since we have an incoming freshman student in the fall Will not stay at this hotel again. Very disappointed.

My room was not cleaned to normal standard with lots of hair and dirt in room. I shared it to the very kind front desk rep and he committed to addressing for day 2-3 but after I returned that afternoon from meetings, it had not been addressed. Hair all over sheets/bed/pillows and random food on floor and cushions. It made me very unsettled and I did not sleep well. Nice staff though.

Room was nice overall and the decor was a bit retro, there was a really nice Bluetooth radio in the room, but the fridge was under the sink in a weird spot almost like it was an after thought. No microwave in the room, you had to go to the room where they kept the ice machine to use the microwave. The shower was not clean.

Hotel is convenient to UNC. Our room was not cleaned properly. Trashcan in bathroom had not been emptied, trash was on the bathroom floor, hair was on shower wall. Front desk attendant was indifferent at my arrival. Seemed almost annoyed to have to check me in. My wife was barked at by another guest's dogs upon entering the elevator.

This room was immaculate! Every detail was attended to! The beds were heavenly, soft and immaculately made. The room was vacuumed and completely hairless! The bathroom surfaces were all perfectly clean and dry! Thank you, aloft!

Comfy bed and linens. The hotel staff was friendly and the room was very clean. My only negative is that our room was right on the highway, and there was a lot of traffic noise. Would not recommend sleeping on that side of the building if you are a light sleeper.

My husband and I got the room because we. Tickets to a concert, and decided that we didn’t want to drive all the way back to hickory after cocktails and dancing-we reserved it in advance (1week)The room was very small, it was however decorated nicely very modern. The Bluetooth speaker would never connect to our phones. When we arrived a posted sign in the elevator stated that the hotel didn’t have television service available at this time. None of the rooms had TV. I couldn’t even log into my own Netflix or any other streaming services even if I wanted to. For the price I would have liked to known this in advance.

Room was noisy on second floor facing a very noisy highway. Sink clogged when we arrived and started to use it. Staff did address when asked. Appreciate that. Parking was a little tricky since I arrived late at night and usual spots were full. I had to use the overflow lot midnight. Felt a little unsafe since I didn’t know the area. Once it was daylight, felt that it was safe.

I drove down from Rhode Island, got to the hotel about 130 pm not realizing that check in was for 4pm! They accommodated me and allowed me to check in earlier. I am grateful for that as i was tired from the long drive!

Clean room, quiet, but they were supposed to email my bill and i still didn't get it. I would have appreciated it if they took a moment to print it for me, also when all the parking spaces close to the hotel were taken the clerk sent me to park around to the other side where the other retail buildings were. I was advised to park in space that is marked "retail". I asked twice if that's going to be ok. I was told yes. In the morning I had a warning ticket for parking there. Thankfully they didn't tow it.

Staff apathetic. No smile, no service , just really didn’t care. For a big football game, no staff, bar closed because staff did not show up and no ice machines. Breakfast is not cool to order. It’s microwave to order. We have stayed at a number of Aloft hotels, & this one frankly was not good. No managers on duty. Really disappointed.

I prepaid this room in advance. My son arrived at 12:30AM after driving 7 hours. The doora were looked and noone was there working. Otvitz and this hotel are both resoponsible for this horrible failure that i have been dealing slwith starting at 1AM in the morning. Do not atay at this rude and unprofessional place. It sucks!

Didn't feel like a priority by multiple associates. When I showed up, I didn't get acknowledged for many minutes. The person at the desk was trying to assist a guest with Wifi, but was unsuccessful. Even when the guest told her she could wait on me, she declined and never acknowledged me standing there. She eventually got another associate that was clearly not on the clock to assist the original guest, but still remained with them for many minutes finally engaged and assisted me. Didn't explain overflow parking until I drove around for 15 minutes trying to figure it out. Very few parking spaces in the garage. I finally had to park, come it and it was the same person who provided poor service. The next morning. Not lids or stirs for coffee. The area was in disarray. I found everything in the cupboard on my own while the lady at the counter just watch me and never said a word. Rooms a little dated with some weird white stain on the shower floor. Place was ok, but not for the money. Very disappointing for a Marriott. I usually use Hilton and I can see why.

There was only 1 person at the front desk the entire stay who handled the entire hotel often making guests wait. The phone was never answered when we tried to call the reception desk. I asked for the room to be cleaned and was informed there was not enough staff to clean the room. The 3rd night I requested the room to be cleaned and it was not cleaned. I found a manager who had it cleaned.

hotel is great. Modern, clean, quiet and staff was accommodating. It's a short drive to UNC and Franklyn Street. But it's quite secluded otherwise. There's nothing within walking distance, and just some boring buildings nearby.

Staff apathetic. No smile, no service , just really didn’t care. For a big football game, no staff, bar closed because staff did not show up and no ice machines. Breakfast is not cool to order. It’s microwave to order. We have stayed at a number of Aloft hotels, & this one frankly was not good. No managers on duty. Really disappointed.

The TV satellite connection was not so great, and no it was not raining. The food is awful, basically warmed up in the microwave and it’s too pricey. Other than that, it’s a very nice hotel, beds are comfy! Also, don’t even go one mile over the speed limit in Chapel Hill, police will write a ticket!

A lot of small hassles. Booked through Expedia today, chose nonrefundable since I was on my way to the hotel- no pet fee was mentioned. I tried calling the hotel many times just to give them a heads up that I had a pet with me, but never got through…. I was stuck in a automated voicemail loop. When I got to the hotel I was charged $75 as a pet fee. When I said it was not mentioned when I booked the reservation, they said “ that’s why we tell everyone to book through our website.” Um pretty sure that level of sophistication is currently available through the Internet? When I mentioned I had tried to call,”oh, our phones are broken.” The phone in the room itself would not connect to the front desk. What are you supposed to do if there’s an emergency and you need to reach the front desk? Anyhow, but seems like a decent price suddenly became kind of an expensive price for mediocre experience. In addition, the hotel is undergoing construction. The marketplace was closed, so there were no food options, not even vending machine machines for drinks. I got carryout, but then there were no napkins or silverware in the room. I asked at the front desk, and it took her five minutes to run all the way around the hotel and go someplace to get plastic silverware. I feel bad for the employees! Could be a nice hotel, my room is nice and things are modern, in good condition and clean, but seems disorganized.

Lovely clean and cozy property located within 10 min driving distance from downtown Chapel Hill. Staff is wonderful, especially bartender Malieah! We had so much fun, and she is so kind to host us after wedding guests at the hotel bar.

Great location for a heels football game. Nice little bar too. Rooms are nice, clean and roomy. My college boys and girlfriend all came over to use the nice showers. It’s a home to Franklin street for most probably, but very walkable to campus and football game. It’s a go too for us…. The nearby restaurants are really really good so check them out too.

Convenient to UNC Medical Center and places to eat. The elevators were not working when we arrived. We had to wait in the lobby for around 20-30 minutes before we could get to our room. I was with my 92 year old mother, so it was slightly frustrating, although we understood. There were not a lot of options for snacks and they were very expensive. We had been at the hospital all day and decided to get some snacks in the lobby because we were too tired to go to a restaurant. Some of the bananas were rotten. Most hotels that I have stayed at have have a nicer selection of snacks, so we were disappointed with that.

The hotel is well kept and situated near restaurants, groceries, drug store and small shops as added conveniences. The staff is pleasant. We were disappointed and inconvenienced at check-in. We had a confirmed king bedroom which we paid for in advance. When we got to our room, we had been given a room with 2 Queen beds instead. Thinking it was just a mistake, we headed back down with our luggage to switch the proper room. The reception told us it wasn't a mistake ... they were oversold on King rooms. She could have told us that when we were originally given our keys so we did not have to head back down with our luggage. It would have been appropriate for her to tell us our prepaid reservation was not fully honored
