Old Red Inn & Cottages

Even though some of my ratings were a little low. We did actually love our stay. The room definitely needs some updated. I also wish there would have been a front desk. There was no way to ask for more towels, which we would have preferred. Also room had a little stove in it, but no directions on how to use it. We woke up to a 55° room this morning. It was so cold I didn’t even want to take a shower, but I did. I think a little updating and more towels and directions to the stove would help make a more pleasant experience.

I really wanted to like thinks place more than I did as the cottages are old school and very cool looking, nice gas fire place in the room (a bit noisy in the middle of the night) but the lack of any bureau/dresser for unpacking clothes, and no hot water (even when Lesley it running for some time) made it very challenging, especially after a long day on the slopes

Location is great, right in the heart of North Conway. Cabin super easy to get to and to access, parking right in front. The important things were clean (sheets, bed, towels), but the cabin is poorly kept: old water marks on the ceiling (one was still fresh with something growing on it), some rust on metal holders in the bathroom, no curtains in the bathroom so I was exposed to people walking outside, the wall behind the bed seemed to be decaying, the shower had dark marks on the edges on the bottom (mold? - I didn't want to know), no shower head just the pipe sticking out, some silicone joints were ripped and I found an old plastic bottle of water on top of the shower frame. At least the shower gave plenty of hot water. Three strange things: there was no trash bin anywhere, not even in the bathroom. I had to leave trash on the counter. Also, when I walked in, the tv was on and the volume blasting away. Lastly, the next morning I noticed someone had marked circles with black spray paint around the spot where the back wheel of my motorcycle was sitting. Why? I am not sure I can recommend this place. Loved my cabin. Rented it from 1/18 to 1/20. It was perfect for the both of us. The bed was super comfortable and the fireplace gave it the ultimate romantic touch. Will definitely be back.

Cute little spot. We slept 4 comfortably (2 bedrooms). Bathroom is small, but it was expected. Thermostat-controlled gas wood stove is a nice touch. Living room is nice to have. Great value!

Stayed here December 14-16th. Communication for check in/out was excellent. Cabin was spacious and clean. Bed was very comfortable. Fireplace provided more than enough heat. Bathroom was small but clean. Well worth the money for a central location. Would definitely stay here again.

The Worst Stay We've Ever Had – Unsafe, Negligent, and Unacceptable I never write bad reviews. I always try to see the good, even in the worst experiences, because I’ve worked in service my whole life and understand how tough it can be. But our stay at White Mountain Cottages was so beyond unacceptable that I feel obligated to warn others. From the moment we arrived, it was a disaster. The floors inside the cottage were wet and waxed, making them incredibly slippery. My partner and I both slipped and got hurt, which should never happen in any accommodation that claims to be safe. The noise levels were unbearable, with no effort made to maintain a quiet environment. But worst of all, there was zero communication from management, and the parking lot was NEVER plowed—despite being in an area where heavy snow is expected. On the morning of checkout, things went from bad to dangerous. Even 20 minutes AFTER the mandatory checkout time, we were still snowed in. The exit was completely blocked, making it impossible to leave safely. No staff were present to assist, no plowing had been done, and no instructions were given on how to handle the situation. This is beyond bad service—it’s outright negligence. If you care about your safety, comfort, or even just being able to leave on time, do not stay here. There are far better options in the area that will actually take care of their guests.

My husband and I have stayed at these cabins for years with no issues. We were very disappointed when we went in. It smelled musty and dead bugs in the windowsill when I tried to get the smell out. We left after 2 hours and were happy that we got a full refund.

Didn’t even stay. Check in was a text convo send pic of id I’ll send cottage number and door code. Took 5 tries before worked. Owner not at property. Walked in there were ants on counter, grease marks from prev guest, not like it showed in pics at all, exposed piping and electrical hazards through out bathroom had feces in toilet , stain on sink skirt mold on walls, smelled like mold, bedding had stains on it, beds were cots not mattresses , tv wouldn’t turn on, dirty sponge on sink, water stains on a lamp that didn’t even work! Toilet paper had spider webs and dust on it, there was chipping paint off walls, pool water was green and not maintained, charcoal grill had food still on it, overall dirty, extension cord being run imposed a hazard to my toddler , dirty, small and felt like we would be staying in a prison cell if stayed. When I expressed this the owner told me she would not refund us and it’s no longer her problem because we got the code to the door and already checked in so deal with it or go somewhere else and contact hotels.com I plan on disputing further with hotels.com and if that don’t work I will dispute with my bank. I wouldn’t have stayed there if they paid me. Put it that way. We checked in at Foxridge down the road and that was 10/10 ! I would give zero stars to this place if I could. Do not waste your money or sanity on this outdated filthy box !! Looks like it hasn’t been slept in in years. Creepy to say the least.

The bathroom was terrible. Wires exposed behind the shower stall. The shower stall is so narrow that you can’t turn around. Smell of mold. The outside looks nice, but deceiving, wire with extension cords for lighting. Not at all comfortable or relaxing. Do not recommend.

This is a strange property with no on site staff. The idea of the cottage was more appealing than the reality. I will say the room was large and comfortable and clean, and had been updated with some modern fixtures. But the thermostat controls a gas stove which we didn’t realize. The pilot light had gone out, but we thought the furnace wouldn’t work. We texted and emailed and got no answers. We eventually called and they did come out late to fix it which was good, but why didn’t they respond hours earlier? The real negative was the bathroom which should be condemned. The floor was squishy from obvious water damage under the linoleum. The toilet was not fully attached to the floor so it rocked. And the shower was tiny and wouldn’t turn all the way off so it dripping nonstop. I’d stay elsewhere.

It smelled like.sewage in the bathroom. There are exposed pipes in the bathroom. Roken electrical switch. Have pics. And wifi didnt work.

It was nice to have separate room from the kids; however the walls are paper thin and we could hear them talking and moving around all night. That was the most uncomfortable and loud bed I have ever tried to sleep on. Pillows also sucked. Cottage was clean overall except the numerous ants crawling all over the counter with whatever was left on there. There was not enough dish soap available to clean it. It wasn’t horrible but we won’t be returning.

It’s ok. We had to track down a number to have the heat fixed. Once we got in contact it was resolved but the check in without people isn’t super. The place is decent....just needs a little TLC

The cabin was very cute, it was clean, bed was very comfortable. The bathroom needs serious updating. They did their best as far as it being clean, but there was only so much you could do. Kinda noisy with traffic. Over all for our one night stay, I was happy.

This property was not safe for a young child. The deadbolt on the door didnt work so my son was able to open the door and run outside in a matter of seconds and the cabin was right next to the main road. There were exposed pipes in the bathroom and lots of things running on many extension cords which seemed like a big fire hazard. Being right next to the main road was noisy. It wasnt as clean as you would expect and needs repairs. Even the toilet paper holder was missing.

Cabin was adorable. Some features appear to be newly remodeled, a nice touch. Communication for lock code was prompt and easy. Only odd thing we noticed was exposed water pipes between the cabin wall and back shower wall. They did not impact water flow, just overall appearance of the bathroom. We would definitely stay here again! Perfect for a cute, tiny cottage feel!

Just there for a night, had a plumbing issue. The workers were quick to attend to rhe issue and when it would take a longer time moved us to a different cabin. So we were happy with our stay and happy that they were fast at finding a solution to a problem.

There was NO HEAT in the cabin! We contacted the phone number, Emil AND WALKED TO THE MAIN LODGE and received no support. Sadly, we were not the only cabin that had that challenge. What was interesting is that the property management team exhausted text and email multiple times to get a picture or my identification yet when I leveraged the same modalities of communication, they did not answer and have yet to respond. We woke up to a cabin that was 51 degrees inside which is completely UNACCEPTABLE!!! 0 stars do not recommend. My husband and I were cold we didn’t even shower, we woke up and rolled our. Sleeping in our rental car would’ve been a better option because we at least would’ve had heat!

Bed was ok. Toilet moved when used and not connected to the floor. Shower ran constantly and flooded the floor and had to use towels to not slip on floor. No coffee pods for coffee pot, when requested, promised but never delivered. Rented three nights, left one day early with no refund.

We liked the King Size bed and the fireplace. Negatives: The bathroom shower was gross, we stayed two nights and didn’t use it. Very cold in there. The cabin entrance door was open on two occasions after we had secured it, literally open, not just unlocked. Kurig machine but no coffee. Entrance instructions weren’t clear, dependant on wifi which out of country guests may not have. Cleaners were there and directed us to another resort to find out how to use the keypad. We then assisted 2 other groups of guests on how to use the “keypad”. No clear instructions on entry.

Everything was great! Communication was great, answered all our questions over the phone and was very friendly and helpful. Some minor upgrades would be recommended ( such as, bathroom toilet loose, bathroom door knob loose, small holes in ceiling, light water damage on corner floor. ) None of these things affected our stay. In fact, we decided to stay an extra night! I would recommend this property to family and friends. On another note, there is a mini fridge in cottage #10. We were unaware of this before our stay, and this was a nice bonus.

Was nice had problem with toilet kept clogging notified staff they came down tried to fix problem, didnt get fixed notified staff again asked for different cabin within 10 minutes had new cabin, very satisfied. The staff and owners take care of you quickly.
