The hotel was desolate and under construction. The pool and hot tub were closed by the health inspector according to the woman at the front desk. The room was cold and unwelcoming as if they didn’t expect guests. The floors were cold laminate wood with no rugs. The staff at the front desk were two young boys that could not answer questions. No manager was available. Smelled like paint. They should remain closed during renovations. Terrible experience.

This place is a very neat spot to stay. The grounds and the mansion were cool. The issue we had was none of the amenities were available. No dinning, no pub, no pool, no hot tub. If we knew that nothing was going to be open we would have booked somewhere else.

The original portion of the building is beautiful, but all POOLs, fitness, SPA were CLOSED and it did not say they were on any of the external sites nor their WEBSITE-truth in advertising was not followed!!! This was a huge disappointment. The rooms were "almost" redone, but our electric outlet in the bathroom was hanging out of the wall and the sink was slow. So no using appliances in the bathroom. The hall carpet is dirty and needs to be replaced. They have weddings Fri, Sat and Sun, but we did not hear them in our room, which is great. The customer service was excellent and the food for breakfast was very good, despite no meat (smoked salmon, though). It is a HUGE hotel with 300-400 rooms and it takes a while to walk to your room (like 15 minutes, so if you have issues walking, this isn't for you).

If you are hosting a wedding here it’s probably fine but I would not suggest staying here as a general hotel guest. The mansion is pretty but most of the guest rooms are in barrack style buildings behind the mansion. In between the space was set up for weddings and staff seemed uncomfortable with us walking around it. The wedding was super loud, people were noisy all night. The indoor pool had been out of service for ages but was listed as an amenity. Then there were a series of smaller annoyances - things that have become more standard in mid tier hotels, like no access to coffee/tea in the lobby; no ev charger on site or nearby; no dining at all or even a bar on the premises (though the breakfast service was nice); no shelf or place to put soap in the shower other than the floor, no large mirror in some of the rooms, no trash can in the bathroom, not the most comfortable beds, unkempt trash piles on the edges of the property etc. When we complained about some of the above we were told by the desk staff that they aren’t actually a hotel but rather are a wedding venue - but yet list their property on Expedia - so what were we supposed to think? The place has a lot of potential and seems fine for weddings but otherwise I’d stay away.

The Mansion is a unique property of many contradictions. Magnificent building and historic rooms at front leading to a maze of dingy corridors and bland rooms. Wonderful well kept grounds but viewed through dirty windows and blown glazing. Large parking lot but scattered with abandoned derelict vehicles. The hotel caters for large conferences and fancy weddings but there is no dining or bar for residents. The nearest restaurant or cafe is 10 mins drive. Beautiful outdoor pool but was closed for maintenance 3 of the 4 days we were there. The spa and indoor pool has been closed some time for refurbishment, but no work going on. Potential to be a great hotel, but not yet.

Decided to get away for the weekend with my wife. Was disappointed that the spa and the indoor pool was under construction. Other than that beautiful old masion with lots of history. Would have been worth the money if the indoor pool was operational.

The property was beautiful, clearly they know how to host events. I was very dissappointed that they do not have an indoor pool. According to staff it has been closed for over a year. It is very nice that they offer the local YMCA foor swimming, however, the YMCA has classes that are scheduled so rare open swim times are available. Of all the properties in Glen Cove I booked this property so my kids would be able to swim. I think it is false advertising they do not have a indoor pool, take it off the amenities !

The concept is that you are staying in a mansion on Long Island. You are actually staying in a hotel attached to the mansion that takes quite a bit to walk to if you want an upgraded room. Pools were advertised as being open, but as soon as we got there we were told to leave because they booked a private event for the evening without alerting the guests who were paying a premium to use the facilities. No amenities are available midweek only during the weekend including room service, bar service, snacks ect. We had to go out on a stormy night to feed my kids. Overall it wasn't what we were expecting and will not be returning.

Beautiful Hotel… The staff is incredibly nice and helpful! They could not have been more welcoming. It is so beautiful and historic, We just wish it was a bit cleaner. The carpets were dirty and a band-aid remained on the floor in the hallway throughout the weekend. Breakfast was served on the dirty table cloth’s from the wedding the night before. This could really be a gem if it were maintained.

As a local, I was extrememly disappointed in my stay. I booked a room about 8 months in advance for my wedding night. I did not seem to get the room I booked and I paid a small fortune for. While the facilities were comfy, there was rust and mould in places. On top of that, finding other peoples' hairs in our bed showed that they did less than a stellar job of cleaning the place. Other guests were obnoxious and abusive towards staff, which I know isn't the staff's fault, but meanwhile the staff then was very quick to rush us.

The natural beauty (i.e. landscaped gardens, etc.) and main house (for events-only) are bucolic and elegantly lovely with historic charm. The prefab flat-roofed structure for all the sleeping rooms is another story: hallway carpets stink of mildew; sleeping rooms have dilapitated & dusty/dirty furniture; windows & mirrors are filthy; curtains are filthy. Showers are great w/ excellent water pressure and hot water. Morning "breakfast buffets" are terrible: no sausage, no scrambled or fresh-cooked eggs, no cheese, no meats or other protein but the gross little pre-cooked eggs that look & taste like they were baked in a small cupcake tray; inexplicable HARD-BOILED EGGS sitting there that no one age (why even have this???); no whole-grain bread/toast, only white-bread (how unhealthy); weak/poor coffee that tastes worse than Starbuck's or Dunkin' Donuts coffee.

The room was filthy! The toilet seat had not been cleaned and you can imagine what was left on it. I have never experienced that in any of the hotels I have stayed in across the globe. The rooms were old but not well maintained. Carpets everywhere had food, stains, etc. The incessant noise from the air conditioner was crazy... banging, clicking, draining etc. all night and very loud! It is sad but obvious the owner has given up. This is not the place it once was!

Looks great in photos. The place could use a few updates. Carpets in the halls had a not so great smell and looked pretty dirty. I room want in great condition. Breakfast was 2/5. Staff was very kind and responsive.

After a long 11 hour drive to Glen Cove me and my wife came to a hotel that didn’t have running water….. Yes no running water to take a shower, brush our teeth, use the toilet for both our needs. The room was somewhat comfy and looked clean but due to ants crawling around our room I don’t think it’s the cleanest hotel. If you are going to travel to Glen Cove, just book another hotel that is probably better than this one and maybe around the same price.

The only reason we gave two stars it’s because the place is beautiful and clean! Upon a late check-in the host at the desk didn't look up to say hello, welcome or anything. Our room didn’t have AC, we stayed two nights with supposed to be a Luxury King but it’s in the basement with supposed to be a garden view but we have brick buildings. They cleaned our room but did not leave toiletries to use for the second day. Will never to go back there again!

Very impressive looking from the outside, with very nice gardens. The original part of the hotel is impressive, but most of the hotel that was added on later is average. We were in room 428 for 2 nights. Our room was quite a walk from the entrances and a little tough for carrying bags in and out, although great for exercise purposes! :- ) Beds were very comfortable and the room generally quiet. We did have one noise issue, when right outside our window there was a team of men making a loud noise pressure washing, once after 5pm and once around 9pm, which we weren’t happy about and thought a little strange. They did stop after we called the front desk about it. The shower flow per minute is very strong and not easy to change, so too much water is used - definitely not environmentally friendly. We couldn’t find a bathroom fan switch anywhere, so the bathroom got really steamed up, even with a 5 minute shower. This contributed to the stuffiness of the room, which we already found quite stuffy. Many of the hallway carpets are worn, wrinkled and generally tired and we felt that the hotel needed a little TLC here and there. We like coffee and since an in-room coffee maker is advertised as a benefit, having only 2 coffee pods (one regular and one decaf) in a room for two people is not so great. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The best thing about this hotel for us was the awesome buffet breakfast, which was included in the room price.

We were in room 428 for 2 nights. Our room was quite a walk from the entrances and a little tough for carrying bags in and out, although great for exercise purposes! :- ) Beds were very comfortable and the room generally quiet. We did have one noise issue, when right outside our window there was a team of men making a loud noise pressure washing, once after 5pm and once around 9pm, which we weren’t happy about and thought a little strange. They did stop after we called the front desk about it. The shower flow per minute is very strong and not easy to change, so too much water is used - definitely not environmentally friendly. We couldn’t find a bathroom fan switch anywhere, so the bathroom got really steamed up, even with a 5 minute shower. This contributed to the stuffiness of the room, which we already found quite stuffy. Many of the hallway carpets are worn, wrinkled and generally tired and we felt that the hotel needed a little TLC here and there. We like coffee and since an in-room coffee maker is advertised as a benefit, having only 2 coffee pods (one regular and one decaf) in a room for two people is not so great. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The best thing about this hotel for us was the awesome buffet breakfast, which was included in the room price.

The hotel looks beautiful from the outside. Our room was about a 5 minutes trek through windy corridors into a separate building behind the hotel. The separate building felt like student dorms or something. Stained carpets, dark, dirty & not very appealing compared to the outside. It felt like we'd been shoved into servant quarters or something. The mattress is very poor quality as are the pillows. The room was big & had everything we needed. The shower leaked absolutely all over the floor due to a gap in the panel & we had to literally mop up the floor with towels and wring them out after a shower. The breakfast starts late at 8am, so we couldn't have that as we needed to leave early.

We enjoyed our stay at the Mansion in Glen Cove and will return the next time we visit family in Glen Cove. I have a lot to say about this unusual hotel so I'm going to begin with the best parts of our stay with a more comprehensive review below. Highlights: - The staff are incredibly friendly and accommodating. - Over 55 acres of beautiful grounds. - Excellent complimentary continental breakfast. - Comfortable mattress, with decent sheets. - Overall cleanliness is very good and though it is an older property, the hotel smells fresh. - Diverse spaces throughout the hotel to congregate with others. - Tons of really lovely space options if you wanted to host an event. We arrived nearly two hours before check-in & swung by the Mansion to see if an early check-in was possible. Fortunately, it was a possibility & the front desk staff was gracious In making this accommodation. We were pleased with our room (we rented the Regular King Suite rather than the Deluxe). Meh. I think the mansion itself is nice. It’s old but that comes with an historic place. What I didn’t like is that the rooms are not in the house itself but on the property. We had to walk outside in the cold weather to get to the dining room. Not the end of the world but not very convenient to have to wear your jacket to eat breakfast. The breakfast itself was very good. Nice options and plenty of space to find a table even during peak breakfast time. Would I stay again? Maybe not. Not for the price they charge.

The mansion is a beautiful building and the rooms are comfortable and clean BUT , the walls are paper thin which makes for a very noisy stay! We did 2 nights and both nights were awake from 12-4am with other guests talking, yelling , singing in the hallways, slamming doors . Our neighbors alarm woke us , sounded like it was in our room then we got to enjoy an hour of him singing. It was a real let down to a wonderful property. The first night our bathroom flooded so we needed towels as we used all ours mopping up, i called reception from my phone as the room one wasnt working , they were going to send room services to replenish our towels, they never showed. I called again the next morning so we could shower , still nothing so i ended up going to reception myself and grabbing towels, not a big deal but considering i’d asked twice it was a bit disappointing

The lighting was terrible, one bulb from above the mirror, guaranteed to make you look terrible and totally unhelpful in applying makeup or shaving. No towel bars....what to do with the damp towels? No cold water in the bathroom tap! However, the shower was great. Bed was comfortable. A/C in the room was incredibly noisy, not conducive to good sleep.

We stayed for one night after a wedding. The rooms look as though they had just been redone. Everything was clean, the shower was pristine, beds were comfortable. The only thing I’d say was a bit much is that the property is very big and the walk to get to the room was a bit confusing and long.

Biggest issue are the showers. The doors are installed backwards so the shower blows water all over the floor. When I brought it up to the desk attendant at checkout, she said they already knew about it. She was dismissive and flipant and frankly didn't care. Not the type of personality for customer service. I mentioned I almost fell twice, and how dangerous that is, she merely smiled and shrugged her shoulders. There was 1/4" of standing water covering the entire bathroom floor, ran into hallway and covered the closet door. I paid to be a guest here. I DIDN'T pay to be their janitor. Terrible conditions, unhelpful and rude staff. Stay elsewhere.

Booked on hotels.com, but when we showed up they said they didn’t have our reservation. There was a rager of a wedding there that night. We showed up as a bedraggled party of 10 with 4 kids in our party after our flights had been delayed 3 nights. Fortunately, when they saw we were like sheep without a shepherd, they had compassion for us and got us rooms, despite the rooms being in theory booked by Delta for their delayed customers.

Questions asked to them were burdensome and the staff was clearly annoyed at having to try to accommodate requests for an earlier check-in than 4pm. We were told that we could check-in earlier for a $100 fee. Once we arrived in the room we were given, #100, it was next to the elevator with loud passing traffic and basically underground. View was mostly of dirt and soil.

STAY AWAY. Advertised facilities such as outdoor pool and bars were closed to non-wedding guests. Indoor pool, spa, hot tub, and sauna are a closed construction site. THESE FACILITIES ARE STILL BEING FALSELY ADVERTISED AS AVAILABLE. We called and emailed the hotel 2 days before our stay to ask for early check-in "to use the pool." They confirmed that would be fine. Didn't tell us the outdoor pool would be closed all day and night for a wedding event, and the indoor pool was closed for construction---both which they must have known months in advance. Front desk instead directed us to a nearby public beach 10 minutes drive off-property. We asked front desk if we could purchase a drink from one of their three bars at 5pm on a summer Saturday. Management said they were all closed for weddings---though the library, bar, and upstairs pub all stood empty of guests and events, with staff sitting around checking their phones. Front desk staff could have sold us a glass of wine, or handed us one of many untouched glasses of champagne abandoned at a prior wedding event, but they did not. On checkout we explained our disappointment with unavailable facilities, and front desk basically said "too bad." They said it's the owner's policy. Expedia and we tried multiple days to contact owner, who hid from our calls. Expedia wimpily refused to credit us, though they had taken our money, since they "couldn't reach the owner." I showed up for my reservation at 9PM and there was no one on the property or even a front desk person. There was another older couple that was waiting there for over an hour and very frustrated yelling “no one’s here, I’m checking myself in!” I took it upon myself to walk the mansion and find someone. After 15 minutes of walking around I found someone in the admin offices who was watching YouTube videos at her desk. She said her shift didn’t start until 11PM and that she couldn’t help me. After demanding she come down and help she pouted and said “fine I guess I’ll come check you in” she ended up walking down with me and brought her dog in a pink dress. She did apologize and offered us upgrades. Funny part was that it wasn’t an upgraded room, it was the same double room I purchased. It’s pretty crazy for the safety of your guests that there is no security or a front desk attendant on property for at least 2hrs. I would fear for my safety and think twice about booking this again. The room was decent, nothing special. The pillows felt like they were 10 years too old. Good Lavazza coffee machine in room. They definitely outsource their call center and reservation staff because they called me the day prior and asked my check in time and I said 9PM. They called me the following day asking when I was going to check out too. The night of check in at 9PM that phone number that called me magically didn’t work. Terrible experience. We were poorly welcomed by a clerk who barely gave us the time a day and informed us at the 4pm check in time that the pool closed at 4pm that day. Her tone was very “deal with it” The person who walked us to the room was interrupted by a very long phone call (from the front desk) and was not able to share the very little information he has on the property. Did not offer to research and get back to us either. When we got to the room, I called the desk to ask for the WiFi code and was almost barked at with the information. In terms of the property itself, you are sold a “mansion”, but the bedrooms are part of a red brick building in the back of the beautiful facade… Truly disappointed. We will not go back nor recommend this property.

It was a beautiful place. I arrived on Sunday, for a wedding party. We got there in the morning and she was about to charged us $100 for early check-in. The receptionist was kind to drop the charge because I was part of the wedding party. It was an elegante event and very well organized!

This was our second visit to the Mansion at Glen Cove. The first time was several years ago, and we were less than impressed at that time. We thought we would give them a second chance, hoping that they were renovating the premises during our first visit and we would find an improvement. Everything was the same as it was the first time. The staff was friendly and helpful--I have no complaint with them. We did not eat there, so I cannot comment on that part of their service. What impressed us so much was the condition of the building itself. It appears run-down. The outside entrance looks like it needs some painting and other TLC. On the inside, the rugs definitely needed to be cleaned, and at least vacuumed! The wallpaper in the main hallway was showing signs of age and wear--some peeling in spots and marking. The hallways for some of the bedroom areas are VERY dark. It makes the hotel look old and run-down. The handicapped bathroom had no vent or fan, the water kept running in the toilet and the sink kept dripping. The bathroom had poor lighting and no vanity to put our things on. Our room also would have benefitted by a new paint job. Finally I would say, the owner and/or management company of the hotel needs to paint and clean hallways and rooms, and install better lighting in hallways. Room plumbing needs to be maintained. The hotel needs a facelift. Considering the price per night of this hotel, I will go to the Holiday Inn next time.

Wonderful well kept grounds but viewed through dirty windows and blown glazing. Large parking lot but scattered with abandoned derelict vehicles. The hotel caters for large conferences and fancy weddings but there is no dining or bar for residents. The nearest restaurant or cafe is 10 mins drive. Beautiful outdoor pool but was closed for maintenance 3 of the 4 days we were there. The spa and indoor pool has been closed some time for refurbishment, but no work going on. Potential to be a great hotel, but not yet.

Beautiful Hotel… The staff is incredibly nice and helpful! They could not have been more welcoming. It is so beautiful and historic, We just wish it was a bit cleaner. This hotel is a hidden gem! The staff were wonderful and the breakfast was excellent with a wide array of choices. My only suggestion would be an on site restaurant or bar with appetizers.

Great couples retreat! Two additions would be a BIG improvement: Dining options (food is a 15 minute drive or so). And, local/regional TV network availability would be great.

This place is a very neat spot to stay. The grounds and the mansion were cool. The issue we had was none of the amenities were available. No dinning, no pub, no pool, no hot tub. If we knew that nothing was going to be open we would have booked somewhere else.

The Mansion is a unique property of many contradictions. Magnificent building and historic rooms at front leading to a maze of dingy corridors and bland rooms. Wonderful well kept grounds but viewed through dirty windows and blown glazing. Large parking lot but scattered with abandoned derelict vehicles. The hotel caters for large conferences and fancy weddings but there is no dining or bar for residents. The nearest restaurant or cafe is 10 mins drive. Beautiful outdoor pool but was closed for maintenance 3 of the 4 days we were there. The spa and indoor pool has been closed some time for refurbishment, but no work going on. Potential to be a great hotel, but not yet.

This hotel is really a conference or special event venue. My husband and I stayed there because of its proximity to Glen Cove hospital where had surgery. The place was empty off season and we got a great rate. The pubic rooms are gorgeous; a reminder of the grand old days of high society on the “Gold Coast”. Breakfast is included and excellent, including bagels and lox, very popular on Long Island.

The natural beauty (i.e. landscaped gardens, etc.) and main house (for events-only) are bucolic and elegantly lovely with historic charm. The prefab flat-roofed structure for all the sleeping rooms is another story: hallway carpets stink of mildew; sleeping rooms have dilapitated & dusty/dirty furniture; windows & mirrors are filthy; curtains are filthy. Showers are great w/ excellent water pressure and hot water. Morning "breakfast buffets" are terrible: no sausage, no scrambled or fresh-cooked eggs, no cheese, no meats or other protein but the gross little pre-cooked eggs that look & taste like they were baked in a small cupcake tray; inexplicable HARD-BOILED EGGS sitting there that no one age (why even have this???); no whole-grain bread/toast, only white-bread (how unhealthy); weak/poor coffee that tastes worse than Starbuck's or Dunkin' Donuts coffee.

there was no fitness center or pool as advertised. There was very little bar service one night and guests were not allowed to charge drinks to room or use a charge card- cash only. There was no live tv service in room only recordings Rooms had many outlets not working ie charging phones close to beds. Rooms veered 1/4 mile from lobby. Breakfast didn’t have decaf coffee . unstaffed buffet There was no food on premises other than breakfast.

Beautiful mansion. Very modern bathrooms in white marble with miniature shampoos and etc. clean soft fluffy towels. Windows were somewhat dirty. Outdoor pool had one area blocked off for a private party and the other including the pool occupied for private event. Was moved twice and most been able to use the pool at all. Pool was clean and a nice area if gazebos and loungers but those are not included in your stay- these are extra! Excellent breakfast with fresh fruit, eggs, cereal and bagels, however outside seating area not well maintained and with piles of dirty dishes.

the room was clean, however it seemed to be set up for one person: one chair, one coffee cup, one espresso cup, one coffee pod, one decaf? The place is very spread out and directions to the room were not provided at check in. Also a lot of remodeling/construction going on, which was not disruptive. We thought maybe when all the upgrades are done it will be a nice place to stay

Checked in late. gave us a room that was already occupied. they redid our key card and we opened the door to a room full of sleeping people. "comped us" a complimentary upgraded room...bigger bed only. breakfast was aweful. had one person working a buffet. ran out of coffee, eggs and was taking forever to refill. ended up going to mcdonalds.
