It was a very nice and extremely clean room in a great location. It was only a 15 min walk to the Times Square and a 3 min walk to the Empire state building. Staff was really helpful and friendly.They offer tea/coffee vouchers for your stay. The only negative thing is that they don't have a restaurent on site but there were lot of restaurents near the hotel so it wasn't a big problem.

The hotel was clean and the stay was very pleasant. The restaurant/bar being shutdown for renovations was a huge let down expecting that to be a huge convenience. Would stay again, thanks for a great weekend and decent prices.

The lobby and restaurant area seemed to be under construction during my stay. The lobby area was dusty, smelled of chemicals. During my checkout, the front desk staff couldn't get the printer to work. Overall, the rooms were nice, quiet and cleaned daily.

It was a lovely hotel with a very cool bar and nice restaurant on the main level. The location was excellent for taking the subway. There are a lot of shops and restaurants close by and you could easily walk to popular attractions like the Empire State Building and Times Square. The staff was very friendly and our room was really nice and clean. I would have liked a towel holder near the shower, also a mini fridge and coffee maker in the room, although the free cup of coffee at the bar each morning was a nice concession. The food was good although the service at the bar in the morning was slow. Overall I would give it 4.5 stars and would definitely stay at this hotel again.

Very close to shops, right around the corner from the subway and buses. Hotel was clean and staff were excellent at going out of their way to get what I needed. Lift was a bit slow but for the hotel it’s about right. Good restaurant and bar on lobby floor which was handy.

This is a unique property with lots of character. This stay, we were is a room which needed care. When we asked to have our desk lamp fixed, etc. we didn't receive response. Several globe lamps were missing their globes. Otherwise, staff were friendly and engaging. The restaurant and basement club were popular, vibrant, and brought energy to the property. The gym was great and well-maintained.I would return to stay here again. The location is fantastic.

Staff was very friendly and accommodating. The rooms are fashioned to pay homage to the original era of the building which I appreciated, it was like stepping back in time which was really cool. I thought my room could have used a deep clean though bc there was a good amount of dust on the main light fixture that hangs over the bed, behind the headboard and on the molding. Otherwise the room and the bathroom were clean. It was also surprisingly quiet for where it’s located.

Very unique stay in a renovated old New York building with a highest ceilings I’ve ever seen in a hotel. The rooms feel enormous because the rooms are practically two stories, including in the bathroom. Feels very old New York, but the rooms are very spacious. Overall, the room was very clean, but the bathroom had a lot of hair in it and needed a closer look to the details.

Disappointing Stay at The Life Hotel My stay at The Life Hotel in New York was far from what I expected. Unfortunately, the hotel lacks a lounge or any kind of common area where you can relax or get work done. The lobby is incredibly small and offers very limited features, making it feel cramped and uninviting. Worse, the lobby had a noticeable smell of smoke. I understand it's an old building, but the smoke odor was overpowering and hard to ignore. As for my room, it was just okay. It gives the appearance of being clean at first glance, but after a closer look, it wasn't as clean as it seemed. The shower curtain smelled strongly of mildew, like a wet mop, which made showering uncomfortable. To make matters worse, I found hairs in the tub before I even used it, which was incredibly off-putting. If you're simply looking for a place to store your belongings while exploring the city, this hotel might be fine. However, I dreaded returning to my room after a long day of walking around. It was not a relaxing or comfortable space, and I didn't even feel comfortable using the shower. Overall, I wouldn't recommend staying here if you're looking for comfort or a pleasant hotel experience.

This hotel is conveniently located within walking distance of great places to visit. The rooms are clean, the beds are comfortable and the staff are super friendly, caring and accommodating. I expected to need ear plugs to sleep because of the city noise, but it was surprisingly quiet when we stayed. It was perfect for us!

The hotel staff were really helpful. Location was great too. Rooms were clean and bed very comfortable. Negative points - the rooms were completely dark when lights off. We had two rooms on the ground floor with no natural light ( I think window was into another internal area but the shutters weren’t working) and you couldn’t open windows so dependant on very old noisy AC. Restaurant not open which was a shame.

Their marketing team gets an A+ and their staff is great. Unfortunately we were taken in by the photos online and regret our stay there. Rooms are tiny and the bathroom was so small it could barely fit one person at a time. Television never worked all week. No in room refrigerator or coffee maker. Telephone in the room would light up so brightly at night it would wake you up so we had to cover it with a towel. Air conditioner would constantly shut off and the room would get very warm although it’s saving grace was that it was so loud when it was working that it would almost drown out the noise outside the building at night. I would love to give this hotel 5 stars, however we had just a couple minor inconveniences that prevent me from doing that. We were overall impressed with the atmosphere and elegance of the hotel when we first arrived, and were blown away by the friendliness and attentiveness of the staff. Checking into our room was easy and worry-free, and the bed was extremely comfortable! Our issues came once we retired for the night. First off, the bed frame was squeaky and creaky as could be - the slightest turn in the bed would create some noise that would disrupt our sleep. Our other issue came from a random noise coming from the walls. We assumed it was a furnace or something, but it was a loud clicking noise that always woke us up in the middle of the night whenever it came. Lastly, the lack of storage in the room was also a bummer. Not a lot of places to put things, and we found ourselves piling items up on the singular table the room provides you. While a lot of these issues might be exclusive to the room we got, it still didn’t take away from the trip we took to NYC. I would recommend this place to others and would love to try it again in the future.

No staff to help you bring in your suitcases or take them up to your room. No morning wake up call. Room phone didn't work. Some lights didn't work, some light bulbs were dimming. Air conditioner struggled to cool the room and was loud. Bed was comfy but very soft and the frame was squeaky. Lastly, we were on the second floor directly above the bar so we could hear more noise than desired until closing at midnight. Chris at the front desk was exceptionally kind and helpful. He is the most outstanding employee at the hotel. He went above and beyond. When I called to say my train might be delayed due to storm on the east coast altering my check in time he was so understanding, and offered me an upgraded room knowing it was potentially a challenging commuting day for me. He also made sure I had a quiet room away from the elevators so I could work and sleep soundly before a big work day. It was a cold night and when I requested extra bedding he included slippers and a robe for me to be delivered to my room, while I was out dining locally which by the way had a ton of attractive options. All this to say as a solo traveler I felt really welcomed and cared for here. The only things missing a bit were the breakfast and restaurant options which I am told will be upgraded in March. The hotel is older so if you are into that sort of thing in terms of finishes and layout you will appreciate that. I appreciated the quiet here very much and the room size as compared to other local hotels.

My whole experice was awesome, I had to modify my stay due to a death in the family. My check in was on my birthday, staff was great, made my stay a wonderful & great experience. They helped me with making the changes to my reservation along with hotels.com agent. From hotel check in to my check out, it was awesome. Christopher & the day shift manager (sorry, I forgot her name), the valet who handled my luggage & brought up the fridge to my room. I'm planning to stay here again when i return to NY.

We stayed for week and couldn’t ask for a more hospitable stay than we had. All the staff were amazing and helpful through out the entire stay. We saw in previous reviews people said it was loud… we are in NYC anywhere would be. However we did not think it was noisy at all considering we are in the city. Highly suggest the location and hotel to anyone.

Rang the lobby at 2am about 10 times to no response as there was a drunk man trying to get in my room. I had to go down myself (single women alone) to find the receptionist asleep and has obviously muted the phone. Then went upstairs with another employee to try remove the man/find which room he was actually staying in and then tried again to get into my room despite me telling the receptionist my room number!!! Terrible and unsafe.

Receptionist at the check out desk was incredibly rude, dismissive, unhelpful and condescending. I queried about some payments I made upon check in the and queried if these were for deposit or hold and the reception male staff raised his voice at me, shutting me down and increasingly got aggressive with his tone that my husband had to step in to check what was going on. Other guests in line behind me were so shocked at the way he responded. It left a very bad taste and negative lasting memory of my stay here although everything else was great about this hotel. Very unfortunate and sad that I was mistreated by that male reception staff.

Life hotel is perfect for a visit to New York. Situated 1 block from Empire State, 5 minute walk to Macys or Maddison Square Gardens.Close to 5th avenue and Times square about 12 minute walk. Plus several subways near by i.e. Penn Station and Herald Square making it so well situated to get around New York. Like most US hotels breakfast not included but you do get 15% voucher off for breakfast not sure if this is for once or whole duration of stay. You are also supposed to get voucher each day for free tea and coffee in the morning. We only got 1st day but as we didnt like the tea or coffee on 1st day didnt enquire why we didnt get subsequent vouchers. Neither of our rooms had a view, well you just had a view of a brick wall and a fire escape. But that said staff friendly and helpful, rooms met our needs though would have preferred a firmer matress but accept thats personal choice

Very close to shops, right around the corner from the subway and buses. Hotel was clean and staff were excellent at going out of their way to get what I needed. Lift was a bit slow but for the hotel it’s about right. Good restaurant and bar on lobby floor which was handy.

The rooms are very small. They gave us a luggage stand that when opened could barely squeeze around bed. Chair at the desk prevented you opening the closet. Bathroom was nice…..good shower. No views!!! The location was fine…..found 2 good eateries close by and very good. If you like Korean food you are right in the middle of KoreaTown. Good central location. Cafe in the lobby had a few good breakfast choices and the hotel paid for the coffee and tea.

Room was clean and spacious for nyc. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Lobby bar and restaurant Zoi has a terrific vibe. I had business meetings so I couldn’t check out the food but it looked good! I will definitely stay here again.

It was a very nice and extremely clean room in a great location. It was only a 15 min walk to the Times Square and a 3 min walk to the Empire state building. Staff was really helpful and friendly.They offer tea/coffee vouchers for your stay. The only negative thing is that they don't have a restaurent on site but there were lot of restaurents near the hotel so it wasn't a big problem.

It was a lovely hotel with a very cool bar and nice restaurant on the main level. The location was excellent for taking the subway. There are a lot of shops and restaurants close by and you could easily walk to popular attractions like the Empire State Building and Times Square. The staff was very friendly and our room was really nice and clean. I would have liked a towel holder near the shower, also a mini fridge and coffee maker in the room, although the free cup of coffee at the bar each morning was a nice concession. The food was good although the service at the bar in the morning was slow. Overall I would give it 4.5 stars and would definitely stay at this hotel again.

The location is terrific for public transit and is also very walkable. ... The hotel itself is an old building, but it has been nicely renovated. My complaint is that the hotel doesn't have coffee or tea available early enough in the morning. It shouldn't be terribly complicated to have coffee available in the lobby at 6 a.m.

Great boutique hotel and great location in mid town, easy access around the city as theirs a subway round the corner. Staff were amazing and big shout out to Chris and Aziz, both were incredibly nice and a pleasure to deal with. Would definitely recommend and hope to come back one day.

I absolutely enjoyed my stay at Life Hotel NYC for our girls’ getaway. Francisco made us feel welcomed EVERYDAY! Rick made sure our rooms were together. Nicole (Housekeeping) was phenomenal! Our rooms were promptly cleaned daily. I highly recommend this hotel. Be sure to eat at ZOI, the onsite restaurant. Everything we had was delicious…especially the short rib soup!

This hotel is LOUD! but not be side of the streets, the hotels AC‘s are outdated and extremely loud. The lift is extremely slow and old. Our room was next to the lift and made it impossible to sleep. Horrible experience. However, staff was nice and location is central. Also the breakfast, never seen something so random, they give you a box of random stuff, no dietary requirements respected, not do you have any choice. Looked more like something they could find rather than a proper breakfast.
