The continental breakfast was just okay. They didn't tell us till the third day that we could have fresh fruit instead of yogurt. Too much bread. The hotel is always nice but they should keep the bar open till midnight instead of closing it at nine. Nice to have a nightcap after going to the theater. Great location. Very nice staff. Love staying there. The mattresses need to be replaces. They are pretty lumpy. No free water either, which is unusual for such an expensive hotel. Otherwise it is always great.

We have stayed here many times and like the hotel. However on this trip we didn’t know until a week before we arrived that the hotel was under renovation. No restaurant gym or lobby.

Amazing hotel. Extremely comfortable bed. The location is amazing. Valet parking at $80 a night is actually quite reasonable for nyc standards. The only issue i had were the pillows being way too soft, i need something with more neck support.

An excellent experience! Safe. Extremely quiet rooms...we never heard any noise in the hallway or rooms around ours. Just a couple of blocks to the theatre district without being in the middle of it. They got us transportation to the airport quickly. Very friendly staff! The only thing I'd suggest is to keep the restaurant open all day rather than for breakfast and dinner.

The hotel is in a good locations. Fairly quiet, beds are comfortable. To improve, it could be managed better - is a little sleepy. For example, no water in reception or in rooms when its 30 degrees out (they have had this feedback before I see) and there is no where to go for a drink or eat at 9.30 on a Saturday night - I was referred to room service when I asked. Would expect the lounge area to offer drinks at least.

Loved that the property was extremely close to time square! Just down 44th street! The staff were awesome and very polite. The only downfall for me was that there was no ice machine on any of the floors. No fridge or microwave in the rooms. However we did request dor a fridge to whoch one was brought. The wine cooler in the room didnt work, but we dont drink anyways. We actually thouht it was a fridge until we called and said the fridge in the room wasnt working. Other than that, it was a great business hotel. Didnt see any kids or teens here and was here for 6 days. Seems to be more of a business-like hotel..Not my type but was ok..

The bathroom wasn't clean enough, there were some browinish stains on the wall by the toilet. And the tub was dirty. My husband wanted to soak after running the marathon, we started filling it and hair left in it started floating on the surface. It was kinda gross. The closet kept on making a rattling sound-couldn't figure out why-that woke me up both nights. Mirrors were also not clean. The fridge was leaking water. This is not the property's problem, just a heads up that boxed water doesn't taste good, maybe past shelf life? The room's view was very nice, bed was very comfy, and the staff was kind and helpful. We appreciated water, bananas, and protein bars left at the lobby on the marathon morning. Would probably stay here again next time we're in the city for the marathon.

The staff were very well trained , friendly and courteous and I appreciate that ! The sheets and towels are high quality and the bathroom was spacious and provided nice amenities . The carpet in my room was very worn and stained however , which gave me an ick feeling I don’t expect in a hotel billed as “ luxury.” I would have appreciated a coffeemaker in the room as well. They are doing renovation on the lobby level so obviously that changed my experience and I wish I would have known because i would have chosen the Algonquin down the street for this trip ! I chose Sofitel because I wanted something a bit more special and was disappointed it was just average for the 600$+ a night we paid .

I liked how beautiful the hotel was. I disliked how housekeeping was terrible. They didn’t vacuum well, I saw crumbs on the carpet. Also, the day we checked in, the room wasn’t clean and had a teacup from another guest with trash cans that were not empty. We told the reception that the room wasn’t clean and they did apologize.

The hotel and room both not clean enough for this kind of hotel star level. For the money you pay, it’s definitely not great choice and I wouldn’t recommend it. The room is small and the quality of bed pillows bad. Elevators work but they are not clean and look dusty/needs a good wash. Staff are good. Everyone very nice. My only issue is hotel needs good clean up.

Room cleanliness poor, there were sweets on the floor from the last guest that were never cleaned in our entire stay, sheets were not changed despite being requested, stains on the floor and poor wiring. Not a 4 star hotel as it stands, and we like Sofitel hotels

We had 2 rooms both of which had hair and trash in the shower. No trash cans in BR. Also trash on the floor in one room. We said something at the desk but not fixed. When we checked in the staff said 3 credit cards were blocked. When I called AMEx not only were cards not blocked but a charge was put through for incidentals. He insisted that it was not Breakfast was clearly precooked and sitting. Toast was stale and eggs were cold and rubbery for a $100+ breakfast. In the hall on our floor were carts of laundry etc. bed was good and bell man was quite helpful

The first 3 rooms we were shown had filthy carpeting and it looked like mold was growing on the carpeting. One of the rooms smelled like mold and smoke so we had to pay an extra $50.00 per night to get a room that was satisfactory and didn’t have the filthy carpeting.

I love the Sofitel brand, but this one needs a refresh on its rooms, not sure I’d choose to stay here again. Sofitel in Mexico City blows me away every time I stay. Here in NYC the room was nice and big but very worn, stained carpet, furniture, and wallpaper, pillows very thin. There is no coffee maker in the room, you need to ask for it to be delivered and no bottled water unless you ask. Geoffrey at reception is incredible though at check in and providing recommendations when the concierge was already gone home at 5:00 on a Saturday. And the lobby and bar are beautiful Thank you.

This was our second visit to this Sofitel. It is an attractive hotel with a spacious bedroom, closet and bathroom. The bathroom mirror is well lit and there’s a separate shower and bathtub. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed breakfast in their Gaby restaurant.

When we checked into the room, none of the lights worked. Couldn’t get the lambs to come on. The climate control was not working the entire time we were there. I did mention this to the front desk and they did fix the light situation but for the entire Stay the climate control was not working. The door to the bathroom would not stay open. The room really needs a renovation.

Our favorite place to stay in NYC. The updated rooms are great, they are spacious and well appointed, especially the bathroom. The area around the hotel is safe and very quiet and the staff is always super friendly. Easy walk to Rockefeller Center, Empire State Building, and Times Square. We look forward to them finishing the remodel to the restaurant and reception for our next visit. The only thing that needs addressed is the timer on the lights, they were supposed to be motion activated but the lamp in the room would just go off even while sitting in the room talking. Also, the timers on the bathroom lights are major fail. I was in the shower, and all the lights went out and the room was pitch dark. Luckily my husband was there to come in and turn the lights back on...otherwise, that could've been very tricky trying to get out to walk across the room to turn the lights back on in the dark had I been staying alone. That is definitely something that needs to be addressed.

This hotel had some sort of "computer issue" that had them suddenly overbooked. Without any prior notice before arriving, we were downgraded during check-in from our beautiful large suite to a small standard room. We had to ask multiple times for the new rate we would be paying, since the room we were in was much less expensive than the one we had pre-paid for. Finally got that sorted after much effort on our part. Had to have maintenance come up to repair the air conditioning on our 2nd night. Overall not impressed with this hotel. We have stayed here before, but will most definitely choose a different hotel next time we are in NY.

I have stayed at the Sofitel so many times and truly love the location and all of the perks of this hotel. This time was a bit different though---folks should know that their lobby is under construction right now--big time---to get into the hotel is basically just this little alley through the hotel with walls up where the lobby would be. I did not hear any construction noise but the lobby is non-existent We arrived early and needed to check our bags---apparently the room where they check bags was completely full so he just put our bags by the door and gave us tickets---this concerned me as anyone could distract him and just pick up our bags---one of which had my laptop in it--so I did decide to take my backpack with me and I was super glad I did because 6 hours later when we came back there was nobody there with the bags---we waited for like 5 minutes and then just grabbed our bags and went to our room-- but I was really glad I had not left my backpack there! We were able to take our bags and could have taken any bag we wanted with nobody there. It was all fine but just concerning. Other than that the beds are so comfortable---you can't beat this location---we did have coffee in our room every morning and the loveliest lady would bring it in for us....the staff is the BEST truly---you get the royal treatment there---love it so much and totally will stay there again when I come to the city to see shows.

perfectly situated for theater, restaurants, museums, Times Square. When we arrived nobody opened the door, bellmen let us struggle with luggage and reluctantly directed us to front desk. Nobody was very helpful and room was poorly prepared with minimal towels and one miniature bar of soap. The resort fee at the end was the final straw eventhough it was negligible. We've stayed there multiple times in different cities, but this one really drags down the whole chain.

This was a fantastic hotel! We went to NYC for New Year's Eve and it is very conveniently located near Times Square. One block in either directions gets you near cabs, shops and landmarks. I would highly recommend staying at this hotel!

It's pretty dated, but it's also a classic! Great location. My only complaint was the restaurant, "Gaby." They would not seat me by a window despite the fact the restaurant was empty, and it was $50 for a dreadful breakfast. Did not go back.
