Property was in good condition, only 1 lift servicing the hotel caused frustrations with waiting times on busy periods. Breakfast was excellent

Only 1 elevator working. It was a small elevator. We had to wait 10minutes to catch an elevator. We felt like we couldn’t go to a from our room because of the elevator situation. Great location but there are others in the area that have better amenities.

This was a great location! A block from the subway or a few blocks from Penn Station. Breakfast was great and rooms very clean and modern. One of the elevators was broken when we stayed so it was a little inconvenient waiting for one during high traffic times (breakfast or evening) but wasn’t too bad. We took the stair when we could. Staff checking in was very nice and recommended a parking lot for us.

The elevator was not functioning which made a terrible waiting time to get up or diwn and had to use the stairs up to the ninth floor

Just property details said free parking within a quarter mile of property and guy at check in looked totally confused when asked about it.... Spent $66 to park overnight a block away

Staff were friendly and accommodating. One of the elevators was not working for the three days that we stayed so it was very inconvenient to have only one for 15 floors.

No parking and options around to high to pay for.

The staff were great and efficient. Only complaint would be that one of the two elevators was broken for over a day which made it very slow getting up and down.

The rooms were clean My only complaint is there was only one elevator working and it was never available.

It's in big need of a facelift and deep clean. The room was fine. Quite small; not nearly enough counter space for stuff. Seems clean in the room. Lobby is sad.

The property was clean and well0-cared for. They were prompt in dealing with a request we made. Breakfast was good.

I stayed on the 7th floor. The bedding insdie the room has bursts of a musty smell, 3 of the pillow cases have stain on them. I feel like the bedding never been changed, given the smell exists since the first day we checked in. In addition, the housekeeper never cleans the toilet as well as the bath tub. the stain still exists in the toilet bowl and hair sticked on the wall inside bathtub even after the housekeeping. I feel so disappointed and I feel your staff is not doing their work. I may not consider to stay in your hotel again given the experience is very terrible.

I stayed here for a Saturday and not only was someone else's belongings left in the closet of my room but the room itself was kinda dirty. The bathroom clearly wasn't cleaned thoroughly. In fact I booked a room with a jetted tub in hopes I can use it and I was unable to do so.

I will said, if you want to use the hotel for just shower and sleep this is a great hotel , the staff is OK, I didn’t interacted with them much. The are small rooms the bathroom shower curtain need to be change and wash with bleach, smell moldy, the floor looks dirty never being mop probably. As much they use bleach in the lobby they should clean bathroom the same way . The hotel is in a great location , penn station is 2 block away, is quite at night. Overall is a ok getaway hotel . I will book again for sure

The towels is not that clean , bed sheet condition is also not very well. Breakfast is good

The room looked old with furniture and carpeting that was worn. The sheets had burn and other marks on them. I did not feel comfortable in the room and actually checked out earlier than I planned.

I was very impressed. As a hotel employee, I got there by mistake, but it was a happy circumstance. The hotel was ridiculously clean The staff was amazingly friendly They took care of me and made me feel like I was home Highly impressed

It was absolutely disgusting and dirty hotel. Mold everywhere, hair and dirty bedding.

Good location, good breakfast, good staff, clean rooms, only downside is the rooms are not spacious.

We booked a two double bed room. Room is very small. Very limited walking space. No mini fridge in the room. Staff did not accommodate request for my mom’s birthday. Also we called multiple times for a trash liner but none came until check out. Limited towels. Bathroom sink was clogged.

Newly renovated, which I love. The room size is reasonable for an NYC hotel, and the space is clean and conveniently located. However, the biggest downside is the lack of soundproofing. I could hear everything from the hallway at night, especially when the cleaning crew was nearby—lots of door slams. Being on the 6th floor, I also heard the garbage truck loud and clear at night, which was unfortunate. Even walking through the hallway, I could hear what was happening inside the rooms. If you’re a light sleeper, definitely bring earplugs or noise-canceling headphones.

Amazing location and friendly staff! Rooms are a bit on the smaller side, but still has all the amenities you expect (minus a fridge and in-room microwave). Breakfast was delicious with different options each day, but the dining area was quite small for the amount of people who were currently guests at the hotel. It was difficult to find seating inside (there was additional seating outside of the hotel and under canopies) and lines for certain breakfast items were quite long. However, all of these things were manageable. What wasn't was the fact that my family had a room that was without air conditioning for the entire duration of our stay. We spoke to the front desk on three different occasions concerning it and was told that someone would look at it each time. Not once did someone come to see about it. It was fairly cool (due to the temperature outside, not due to the AC which didn't work) on the first two nights but it became unbearable for the remaining two nights. We had to use portable handheld fans that we'd packed just to be able to get some rest. The hotel was completely full so switching rooms was not even an option. Overall, if you're looking for a fairly affordable place in a central location that offers breakfast, you will be happy with this choice. You just may have to sacrifice some comfort in order to stay here.

It was conveniently located, clean, and served us well for our stay in NYC. The rooms are quite small but had all the necessities.

The employees were so kind and helpful! Location was perfect; close to food, shopping, subway, etc. The beds were very comfortable! The ONLY thing that would make it better would be a mini fridge in the rooms. :)

Everything pretty good except there was no hot water for over half the weekend in the entire building. This is a bit unacceptable and although after I requested a rate adjustment they did take some off, ice cold showers are not good. Breakfast was okay, but definitely nothing special. Key to this hotel is the price, especially considering the location was very good. It is very quiet, yet you are so close to MSG and a lot of other things. There is a really decent bar called Walter’s just a block or so away too. Would I stay here again, definitely. It deserves another shot. Just realize it is nothing fancy, rooms and elevators are extremely small, and don’t book it for the breakfast.

It was a good stay overall. The room was small but very clean; cleanest shower ever. The only problem was that I could hear people in neighboring rooms enter and exit their rooms repeatedly in the early morning hours. It woke my son and me repeatedly.

The hotel is in an awesome location if you want to be close to Madison Square Garden or Times Square. I went to the Lady Gaga concert and walked by myself to and from the show with no problem at all. The free hot breakfast was also a nice perk and not bad. The only thing is the room with 2 beds was very tight and smaller than we had thought it would be. There was 4 of us and you had to take turns walking around. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom was spacious. It was fine for 2 nights and we didn’t spend much time in the room anyway!

Our 5-night stay was great for the most part. The hotel is nestled on 29th between 7th and 8th, and conveniently located close to the subway and lots of food options. It's a close walk to the High Line, Madison Square Garden and Times Square. The room itself was very nice, seemed recently renovated, albeit small (I guess this should be expected for New York). The hot water took a while to heat up, especially in the early morning, but it was great when it worked. I wish there was a way to tone down the bathroom lights as they were quite bright around the mirror. The one major con has nothing to do with the hotel, but there's quite a bit of traffic making its way down the one-way street and there was a lot of noise outside (drilling and garbage trucks) between 3-5am. Bring earplugs or request a room on the other side of the hotel.

We arrived slightly early and Anne, who checked us in, was extremely friendly and accommodating and worked it out to get us checking in without having to wait. They offered cold waters at check in which was great, and the room was very clean and super comfortable beds. The free breakfast in the morning is wonderful to have and this location is excellent for the price. It’s walkable to the Moynihan train station and right in the middle of everything. Perfect stay. I havent got my deposit back for 150$ yet. Its been 7 days

I reserved a 1-TWINBED (2 SINGLE) ROOM through HOTELS.COM, but was assigned a 1-KINGBED ROOM upon check-in. The problem was that the 1-TWINBED ROOM was sold at a higher price than the 1-KINGBED ROOM, and I bought it at a higher price so that my son and I could sleep comfortably. When I showed them the screen dump from when I made the reservation, they said they would refund $30 per day, a total of $150, upon check-out. I agreed, and after staying for 5 nights, I was told that the refund would be processed in 7-10 days. However, the refund has not been processed. I think that HOLIDAY INN EXP hotels cannot be trusted in this process. I hope that many customers will use this hotel's behavior as an example and make a wise decision.

Checking in and the first night was horrible. The staff who checked us in was unhelpful, but the overnight staff and the rest of the staff were awesome, and they helped us move from the first room because our first room was horrible.

I checked in my room on s Friday night when i got to the hotel i was told that they did not have the room i paid for and gave me to separate rooms im traveling with 2 minors he tells me that is all they have i goes to the room its in the basement where the workers are and drug attics omg never again we could not even sleep then to top it off our room door had the biggest gap you could stick your whole hand under the door also i was charged 150 deposit when it was time to leave i was told i want be gettin that much back because of a travel fee that i was charged for twice

I was unable to stay here because my reservation was cancelled the morning I arrived. I chose the pay at hotel option and my booking was cancelled at 6 am because payment had not been received. Expedia blamed the hotel and the hotel blamed Expedia. I was the one stuck booking last minute hotel and for the last minute charges. I will no longer be using Expedia because customer service offered no help at all! The hotel and Expedia do not stand behind their bookings no matter how far in advance you book!

A terrific stay overall: professional, friendly, and helpful staff; clean, comfy, efficient room; super well located in Chelsea. Would absolutely return!

Arrived at 3pm, room was not ready and had to wait for another 20 minutes. Phone is not working in the room. First night, out of soap and went down to reception and asked for it. After waited for an hour still nobody came. Went down to reception again, not helpful and no soap given. We decided to go to convenience store at late night to buy a soap.

The staff did absolutely nothing They would tell us they would attend to things and never did any of it Got ready to leave this morning and the ride I asked them to set up and confirmed was never called This place was the soriest place we have stayed in over the last 20 years

A breakfast, served buffet-style each morning in the lobby, and efficient service, complete the picture, making this one of the better-value hotel options in the Penn Station/Macy's neighborhood. The breakfast area gets very congested, though, so it is best to get there early.

Property is two blocks from Madison Square Garden which was perfect.

The hotel was in a great central location with easy access to transportation. The rooms are smaller but clean. The only downfalls are that it was very noisy when the people next door would go in and out and the breakfast area was too small. Otherwise, a great place to stay in New York.

Great breakfast and perfect location for most sight seeings. Very cramped room and breakfast lobby, staff was ok I often felt like cattle and they were corralling us... Not very considerate or gave personal attention.

Breakfast is chaos. Not enough room for all guests. Horrible trying to get food and then having stand to eat very bad set up and not enough room to accommodate guests

Great location. Comfortable room. Reasonable price. Enjoyed the outdoor seating area. The only issue was how absolutely crowded the breakfast area gets during breakfast.

I suggest having some gluten free breakfast options for those of us who have celiac or gluten sensitivities. Having to find another place for breakfast is not ideal. The room I stayed in was in serious need for the walls to be painted. There were damaged spots on them. Better TV options. Usually we can cast our phones to TVs or watch things like Youtube or Netflix but we couldnt on ours.

Had a really good stay hotel was well located and could access a lot by foot or the subway from its location. The room was surprisingly spacious for New York. The only issue was breakfast could be a bit chaotic with limited seating available and sometimes food this was mainly due to large school groups who were also staying at the hotel.

Aggressively mediocre experience with overcrowded breakfast area featuring lukewarm food. The location is good, but keep your expectations of the hotel experience to a minimum.

I had a great stay here! Breakfast was great and had many choices. The staff did an excellent job keeping everything clean and restocked during the busy breakfast. Room was clean and well-stocked.

Check in was poor. Waited for 20 mins for someone to even appear at the desk! The breakfast was adequate but the dining area is really small considering the number of guests at the hotel.

Included breakfast which had nice variety of hot and cold options. Excellent value hotel, especially for NYC/Manhattan.
