Beautiful hotel. Nice bar/restaurant where I enjoyed a few cold beers and a veggie flatbread. Everything about the hotel was very clean. What's most important to me.....the bed and pillows were perfectly comfortable. The free shuttle to the airport made things so easy at 5:00am. I will definitely be staying there in the near future again.

The hotel is undergoing construction and the lobby seems to be a makeshift few podiums in a lower hallway and the Gym is tiny with just 3 machines, no elliptical. Staff was apologetic but this should be disclosed prior to making reservation/arrival and full price should not be charged.

overall a good stay, they were having some elevator issues, front desk was very good, no tub on 11th and 12th floor if thats a priority be aware. could use some more plugs in the room, not crazy about the resort fee, so for all that a 1 star deduction.

I did not have internet the entire stay and when I asked the front desk, they offered no solutions. No business center available since in room work was not possible and forced to take all work from lobby. Bathroom in room was dirty- hair from previous guest uncleaned. Ongoing construction on cleaning in gym made it difficult for workout with crew inside small space.

Enjoyed my stay here at the Sonesta. Will be staying here for any future trips to NY from now on. The pool was one of the main reasons that caught my eye about the hotel but i didnt like the pool hours. Closed too early.. other than that, great hotel. Area felt safe, easy parking. Love

Checked in for husbands birthday at 7pm dropped off bag and went to dinner came back around 10:45 pm . Woke up in the middle of the night with my eyes itching and feeling terrible . In the morning I looked around the room and could not believe how dirty and dusty the room was . There was still hair from the previous guest . Couch was crunchy with food and blankets of dust . This is not what you should received for a room that’s $230 a night . I mentioned it at check out with the manager she wasn’t apologetic or anything . Thank you Expedia for getting my $ back after 13 phone calls .

VIP? More like V. I. Pee. The first room we checked into was on a floor where we smelled urine immediately after opening the elevator, and it got stronger as we went down the hall toward our room. The room smelled like pee. We went downstairs to get a new room and the front desk apologized. The second room hallway did not have a urine smell and neither did the room at first. We were exhausted from an international trip and took a nap. But when we woke up, the smell greeted us yet again. I stayed at this hotel last year and it was lovely. I don’t know what happened, but they need a deep clean. There was also rust on the shower rod, and what looked like years of dust behind the nightstand. This is like a Motel 6 or something from the 80s. Don’t stay here if you want comfort and pee-free living

Disliked shower fixtures and shower water pressure was too low. Prefer a full curtain to the glass pane that only shielded half the shower. Need to run shuttle between hotel and train station. Some guests don't arrive at property by car or from HPN.

Hotel decor is now very spiffy. The rooms are good size, with wood tile. There is adequate closet space and a couple of inconvenient draws. HOWEVER, the modernized bathrooms are European style, with a non-moveable half splash enclosure that is completely useless The floor of the bathroom gets soaked no matter how careful you are with hand wand or overhead shower head. There is a cutout in the spash enclosure to make turning the water on from outside the shower, but it allows water to leak out onto the floor around the toilet which gets absolutely soaked. We had to ask for more towels to mop up the mess after each shower. The whole system is dumb, even though the sink and faucets are all modernized and state of the art. And, we learned that they're replacing all the bathtubs with this similar shower enclosures as part of the hotel modernization. Since there is whole in the plexiglass to turn on the water from outside (so you don't have to reach around the fixed splash guard), the splash barrier should extend at least 2/3 of the way. Even that would likely result in a wet floor anyway. This is a terrible design. My two cents.

Was not happy with a noise that sounded like plumbing issues or hvac issues. Go to room 109 wait a few minutes and you will hear it, very hard to sleep. Very loud and distracting, i am sure other guests have complained.

For a luxury hotel, the Sonesta falls short. We've stayed there several times because it is near to our family. It was recently renovated, but now the rooms do not have dressers to put your clothes away. And in the bathroom, there is only one small towel bar near the sink. The housekeepers put 2 large bath towels on it, not understanding the closest towel bar to the sink should have hand towels to dry one's hands when at the sink. We had a room with 2 queen beds and asked for a second night stand for one of the beds, since there was only one nightstand in the room. The front desk told us they didn't have any-it was late in the evening when we checked in--but they would check the next day. They never followed up. For the prices they charge, this hotel should do better, much better, in designing the guest experience. Shame on Sonesta. We felt ripped off.

I went to buy a coffee in the lobby restaurant. I was told I had a $10 voucher by staff at the restaurant, otherwise I would not have paid $6.00 for a small cup of lukewarm bland coffee. Then at checkout, the charge was on my bill. When I pointed this out to the receptionist, he took the time to go into his computer and told me that the charge had been deleted. I just checked my bank balance and the charge has not been deleted. I recognize this is a small thing, but to be told twice that you are not being charged, only to then be charged, is annoying. And when I just called the hotel, I had to leave a message rather than speak to an individual.

Room was neglected. Lamp by the bed was dangling with exposed wire. Reading lamp had a bottle cap jammed into it. Called down, they tried to fix it, told us they were coming back but never did. We waited around for 30 minutes, called front desk, said to the night manager that it is 11pm and our kids had to go to bed and the electrician never came and they should not come back, the night manager said “fine, they are not coming back” and hung up on us. My husband spoke to day manager the next day and they deducted half of the night stay, still, no one should have to sleep next to exposed wiring.

The front desk Mohammad was soooo accommodating and hospitable, i was having a pre wedding gitters while checking in and he was sooo gracious enough to offer me chocolates! I’ve booked this hotel for my getting ready place before my wedding and thank God I did! It was the perfect place with nice, clean and fresh scented rooms. Overall the hotel itself is decent -loved the fresh carpet smell upon arrival! The gentleman Christopher who checked me was very pleasant & pleasure to talk to -true professionalism. Clean room-decent view -comfy bedding! However, there were some downsides, 1. The bathroom door didn’t close as it was off the hinges-had to lift door to close. 2. The shower door or lack there of is silly -don’t understand the design and doesn’t make good for a comfortable bathing situation. 3. Breakfast- $25 per person??? That’s a TAD bit of a high price tag considering the hotel is under construction and the quality of the food is subpar at best. There has to be some level of compromise here - guests should not have to pay for breakfast (most hotels include breakfast for FREE), or lower the pricing and/or better quality food items. Hopefully I’ll book again when the hotel is back up to standards!
