Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Defiance by IHG

Last minute I booked a room for two nights to attend a funeral. I looked on both the website and Expedia to make sure that the hotel had a pool and breakfast for my kids. When we got there the pool area was under construction, with a sign at the front desk saying sorry for the inconvenience, kinda wished that was disclosed online since that was the sole reason for my stay there, but you know it’s whatever. The next morning we had breakfast at 8, it was poor of quality as it was not freshly rotated out with new food yet and there were only 2 cars in the parking lot; this is relevant due to the fact that my room cost was $160 for that night and the hotel without a pool, but that did include breakfast, down the street was only $85 a night. The second night was not better, as my room cost increased to $170 but the car influx only increased by 4, it was on this day that I noticed that their designated smoking area was directly beside the gas main for the hotel. I also discovered this day, that the elevator has a slight lurch that maybe unsettling to some. Overall the rooms were clean and no signs of bed bugs, but the beds were uncomfortable and I’d recommend bringing your own pillows. Probably will not be returning to another holiday inn or their affiliates.

Check in was quick n very friendly,n our softball girls enjoyed the nice pool n new renovations look great.

There were some revelations going on which did not interrupt our stay but the breakfast to be included with our stay was not available. NOT EVEN A POT OF COFFEE. I felt a partial refund could have been offered.

Jenn, who checked us in, was very welcoming and very helpful in giving directions. Only thing we couldnt find in the hotel was a pop or water machine. Everything in the room was very clean and beds were very comfortable. We enjoyed our stay.

They need to get a better grip on the construction going on. I woke one night coughing due to the fumes from some product being used, I had to open my window & place a towel under the door. The coffee is bitter & weak, at the hour I left every morning there were no other options. They need to provide lotion. Slapping a new coat of paint is not renovation. Staff so-so.

There was some construction happening on the dining area so breakfast was served in a bag. Other than that, it was great.

Our restroom had private hair in the shower and on the floor. Could see it plain as day. Which made us then catious of everything.

Our room smelled of cigarettes. After asking twice we were finally moved to another room, which was nice.

The room was very clean and comfortable. We would stay there again if we’re ever back in the area

The rooms were very clean. Water pressure in the shower was great. Staff was very courteous once you got their attention. The breakfast was top notch with lots of options. My favorite was the egg white omelette, bacon and cinnamon rolls.

The room was comfortable. However, the shower was filthy and there was someone’s hair all over the walls. The next day they did not clean our room. When it was brought to their attention they lied and reported it was due us posting a do not disturb note. This wasn’t true and very rude. We expected that they would accept responsibility not try to blame us.

Had a standard room but it smelled like someone had smoked in there. I suffer from asthma & we do not smoke so I was quick to notice that.

Reservation was for one king, but we got two queens. Elevator and hallway smelled like weed.

Newly renovated. Very clean. Always happy to stay here, when visiting the area.

The room we were assigned constantly had water pipe noise in the bathroom... like it was a water main--- had to close bathroom door as it was so loud

Our room was 317 and there was a large air compressor that cycled all night waking us up. It didn’t run through the day. Not sure why it had to run overnight.

The only complaint I have is that the bed was too hard and the pillows way too soft. Other than that it was a great stay.

This is a very nice hotel. Everything is new and clean. The staff are very customer focused. They started serving breakfast 45 minutes earlier than scheduled because we had to leave early Saturday morning. The beds are a little too soft for my liking, but that is the only negative for me.

We had a very nice overnight stay. The room was spacious, comfortable, and clean. Convenient location with lots of food choices nearby. We would stay here again!

Could they put a coffee maker in the hotel rooms? Please and thank you! 😊 ☕️

A high-pitched sound came from the bathroom at night. (Probably all the time, but most noticeable when trying to sleep.) Shutting the door helped, but it wasn’t good.

Remodeling going on but didn't inconvenience. Rooms were roomy (1 king) and newer furnishings and soft goods. I liked the new window treatments.

The room was amazing. We called morning of and needed to get settled prior to our event time of 3pm, staff was able to accommodate our need with grace.

We have stayed at this Hotel often at least 2 to 4 times a year. Always friendly. They know me by name when I walk in there door. Comforting feeling yet business like, this hotel has ongoing remodeling the rooms are all finished and the beds are extremely comfortable and it is quiet. Jesscia always greats with a smile and she always has a very positive attitude she works the front desk and other small town feel is great!

We love this hotel. The beds were low so my mom who is handicap could get in them easily. Clean nice room and beds. The lady at the front desk when we checked in was very sweet and very helpful. However the lady that we spoke to earlier in the day on the phone was pretty rude.

Very nice hotel but when I checked in was waiting like 5 minutes for someone to come to desk and the manager was very unfriendly very unwelcoming

We celebrated my granddaughters birthday. The lady that took my call when i had questions, was the same lady that checked us in. I wish i would have gotten her name.She was wonderful!! She wished my granddaughter a happy birthday, at breakfast the next day she asked how swimming was. She smiled everytime we seen her! The best customer service I have ever had staying somewhere!! We are from Defiance, so this was in our hometown. She still asked if we needed anythign. I just truly appreciate her kindness!!

Lot of dining areas near by.. Desk staff very friendly.. I did speak with (I believe a manager at desk ) re: a few issues with bathroom area and bfst. Would be nice if chair in room had foot stool. All in all a nice place!

I checked in very late and was met by a very friendly front desk employee. The same happened as I checked out early the next morning. She offered me a sack breakfast which truly was appreciated!

The breakfast had a broken pancake machine. And some of the omelets had been in the warmer for quite a while also most of the oatmeal was not made properly but also understaffed so it would be very difficult for the person taking care of the kitchen to do that and work the front desk
