Stayed 1 night

I was upset that the maid had entered my room before I checked out and was stripping my bed while my purse and wallet were sitting right there. It was only 9am. There is no front desk staff, just a kiosk which was ok when I checked in at midnight but the Continental breakfast was not good at all.

There were no employees nor attendants on site. When I arrived, I had to check in at a computer screen (very much like one does for an international flight). The person behind the screen was nice enough, but the quality of the audio was bad - it was difficult to understand the person on the zoom call (not withstanding their accent). The computer scanned my driver's license and took a photo of me (I am very concerned about this - what does Day's Inn do with my photo? Do they delete it? Do they hold onto it indefinitely? I can't imagine that this is even legal. Also, it was clear from this self-check-in procedure, that Day's Inn is trying to save money by cutting back on their employees. I don't see this as a good business plan for the future - at least not for me, as I will no longer patronize this business. Eliminating humans from the motel is not a good look for the company, nor is it efficient. I hope that Day's Inn will discontinue this horrendous and short-sighted practice. In addition, when I asked the person behind the computer screen if there would be an actual employee in the office when I checked out the next day, he said that he would be there in person. Of course, he was not. I had to deal with another person behind the screen on the zoom call. It didn't help matters that a Day's Inn virtual employee lied to me. Not a great business model. How can I ever trust Day's Inn again? I certainly will share my negative experience with my peers and colleagues.
