Amazing facilities, staff, restaurant and proximity to trails.

Love the lodging style; part hotel, part cabin, distributed throughout the property & aligned to take advantage of its physical contours. Sit on balconies anytime of day or night and watch nature safely - deer, birds, bunnies, bears, raccoons, and so forth - from your elevated perch/porch. Hike through verdant greenery, breathe the fragrance of wildflowers you’ll never smell anywhere else. Retire to rest in recently renovated accommodations with handicapped accessible restrooms, paved paths, and wide doorways. Dining is decent, offering at least one of every type protein - animal, vegetable, and fish - locally sourced vegetables for salads and sides, and a host of locally sourced sauces and seasonings. Desserts are outstanding and include gluten-free and lactose free palate-cleansers. Virginia wines and beers abound, and they’re all tasty! This facility provided the perfect spot for me to celebrate my 71st birthday in comfort away from the intense heat elsewhere in the state. Only a couple things I missed here were comfortable chairs in our room and non-availability of VA Bison on the menu. Add them to our stay and we’d be permanent residents! BTW, zero internet and cell phone service in our room and much of the property is actually an attraction here, not a detraction! Being off-grid is really pleasant!

Welcoming staff - nicely upgraded rooms with Starbucks coffee in room. All the necessities - even 3 sets of towels laid out for our party. Easy to walk around property - easy to park. Fabulous stay

We had a great one night stay at Skyland. A very large complex with walking trails, 2 restaurants and a Starbucks. Our room was very clean, bed comfortable, water hot, temp of room perfect. Good fast heater. Only complaint is internet speed almost non existent in outlying buildings - we were in Franklin. Our only real complaint. As many have said before, long wait even in the bar. Waitresses and Bartender excellent, just understaffed for how many people to serve. Dinner took about 1 hour after ordering ( 2 burgers) so be prepared. I enjoyed the Rickshaw Cabernet and my husband the beer on tap. Overall a lovely stay.

The facilities are quite nice! Well-kept, convenient parking, satisfactory restaurant with supplemental outdoor seating, and lovely gift shop. Great views from the restaurant. There are cabins at the parking level and others that you walk to below the main level. Short drive to various hiking spots. We were able to get in a solid hike on each of 2 days with a one night stay. Plan to day hike and just hit the restaurant for a meal and blackberry ice cream very soon!

Lodge style room in Shenandoah park hotel. Food good. Arrived in thunderstorm which was interesting. Prompt restaurant service. Convenient for trail walking in park.

This was clean and nice enough but just know this is more like an older cabin accommodations with a hotel layout. Linens were fresh, surfaces were clean; it’s just all rustic. Which is fine, you’re in a National park! The rooms are spread out across several buildings. Each building probably had 8-10 rooms, which you access by driving to your building/cabin, plenty of parking, then walking up your door to access the room. The lodge will be walkable depending on the cabin. All of the cabins had great views and really makes the rustic and outdated aspect worth it.

Check in/out was quick and easy. The room was outdated but it was fine for what we needed. We did not have a room with a view, I would recommend asking about a room with a view if your stay is more than one night. We had a nice dinner in the restaurant and after dinner drinks in the Tap Room. The bartender Timika was great and the man singing and playing guitar was very entertaining! It was a wonderful evening!

Wonderful Shenandoah National Park accommodations reminiscent of times-gone-by! Love the old time warmth the lodge provides with it's cozy pine clad sitting rooms, the expansive floor to ceiling views, and rustic stone fireplaces. Amazing access to breathtaking views of the Blue Ridge Mountains and wonderful hiking trails that intertwine with the Appalachian Trail. Amazing experience all around!

What we expected for a National Park hotel. Clean basic accommodation. Free EV charging station a definite plus for us (2 stations, slow charging so plan accordingly). Food is okay

Hubby and I stayed here in 2006 and remember we had a gorgeous balcony view with convenient walking to the main office and several trails. So we brought our kids back almost 20 years later to experience it. Disappointed in lack of property upkeep and worse was foliage totally blocking balcony view, so no view at all. For $300 a night that’s a huge shortfall. First night no sleep for me due to noisy a/c unit. Next day we figured out how to turn it off by putting fan on auto and sleep was better, but def not off on a good foot. Some mold on shower curtain, deeply stained rug (maybe huge coffee spill?), balcony had dead bird on it, sidewalk in front of Appledore being worked on so had to park farther and lug all our stuff. Also only working water fill up station at main office building which was over 10 minute walk uphill from our building. This was not the best stay. If we come back again, we will choose building close to main office - maybe White Oak - and pay extra if necessary for a view! Did enjoy trails though, musician at tap room and night sky viewing at Big Meadows. Room was a real let down though

Back door of room was found wide open at checkin, so room was freezing and there were leaves and dirt everywhere. Room was otherwise not particularly clean either.

We only stayed one night, but our stay was great! The staff were so friendly and helpful with info on the park. The room was very clean and comfortable. Definitely will stay there again!!

A mouse woke us up at 3 a.m. We were told that they couldn’t do anything to refund us since a manager was not there. Also because “we booked through a third party.” We were given a managers number but I have tried 4 times and can not get the managers help.

Very convenient location along skyland drive. Short drives to many trailheads. The back porch on my room had a great view of the mountains/sky at sunset. The on-site bar/restaurant was a solid option with a good variety - good impossible burger. Room cleanliness/quality was not reflective of the ~$300 night all-in price. HVAC was very loud which is unfortunately necessary because you the windows are inoperable. Heater in the bathroom was rusted beyond belief and inoperable. Main issue on cleanliness was a blood stained pillow that the cleaning people just put a new pillow case on (noticable through the cover). I\'m not sure I\'d stay here again in a "premium" unit.

Room had a nice view and was quiet. Also had broken shampoo dispenser, used plastic cup and empty toilet roll tube in bathroom, a lot of women’s hair in shower plug hole, a filthy entrance mat, and a corner of the bed sheet tucked up so mattress protector was visible.

Friendly, attentive staff both at check-in and in the restaurant. Very clean room. Plenty of parking. Very close to many of the best trails!

We were initially put in a room that was dusty and had a (small) mouse. But after a sleepless night we were moved to the Pinnacles building which was amazing! Staff was very responsive to our needs and did everything they could once we alerted them to the problem. One thing to note is the we were there during a heat wave and not all rooms are air conditioned- we had no idea. So if that is important to you, you may want to reach out and inquire about this prior to booking. Food at the restaurant and drinks at the tap house were great.

Our room was dirty. The floor was very sticky. The night table was not wiped down. The woman at registration was not friendly at all. Would not recommend and would not stay here again.

Motor inn with great views of the valley. Rooms are spartan, no ac. Bathrooms were functional. Had direct tv however. You’re paying for the location within the park. On site restaurant was better than expected. No daily maid service as well. Fine for 2 nights but it was hot and a longer stay would not have been optimal. Reminiscent of motels in the 1970s.

I booked a mountain view room but got a view of trees. I had to get a duplicate key because the first one didn’t work for some reason. The room was clean but didn’t like that the wifi connection didn’t work at all (just needed to do some work stuff). But overall, the stay was pleasant and relaxing.

First time ever visiting Skyland resort and Shenandoah National Park. At first I had a little bit of worry! Like why did I not research more. But, after the easy checkin and finding our room, turns out it aas wonderful. I got a traditional room (no fridge or microwave), there was a coffee maker! Not something I was use to but overall I surprised myself and didn't even care! The view from our patio was great. The hikes are wonderful! We will be back!

The room was clean, updated and had nice amenities. Plenty of charging ports/outlets. The staff was friendly. Only minor complaint, could not see any view from balcony because trees had grown too high at our room.

I love Skyland lodge, the people are great, but the rooms need updating. The shower valves didn’t work very well, Internet is poor. But I love the rooms with the balcony looking over the valley. The atmosphere in the lodge is calm and peaceful, and the food is excellent in the dining room.

Skyland was very appropriate for its location and purpose: rustic lodging in a national park that was clean, well-maintained, and quiet. The bathroom was recently updated and in excellent condition. The bedding was comfortable and the AC was adequate. The cable TV was very capable, but the wi-fi was spotty. The price of the room was a little steep for what you get. The restaurant is above average, but we would have liked to have eaten outside, which was not permitted. All in all, a pleasant experience.

We had an overall pleasant stay at Skyland. Our lodge was a short walk to the dining hall and there are trailheads within walking distance. The sunset from Stony Man was spectacular, but so was the sunset right from the dining room...so if you're not a hiker, you'll still be able to enjoy it. Our room had no climate control, but it did have a fan and temperatures were surprisingly much cooler up in the mountains. The beds were a bit too firm for our liking and the pillows were not fluffy at all. Other than that, we enjoyed our stay at Skyland!

The view from the porch was great looking at the mountain. The room appears to be modernized or updated, however, the AC was very loud.

Thought i would have a view from room just overgrown weed trees. No views unless your eating at lodge. Sink and tub didn't drain good.

Pricey, but it was a great place! My room was very clean, comfortable, and it had an amazing view. The staff was fantastic. The only down side was if you're not feeling the dinning room on site, you will have to travel a bit.

Very helpful and friendly staff

We were really looking forward to our stay at Skyland but were ultimately disappointed. Check in took over 45 minutes because they only had one person working (though she was really kind and competent). Despite paying quite a lot for one night, we were put in a room with an obstructed view and essentially got a view of a lawn. The facilities and rooms are dated and the doors lack deadbolts (a problem unless you don’t mind housekeeping entering without knocking, which happened to us). The staff were all very nice but the place is simply understaffed. I really regret staying here.

Wheelchair users, beware! Accessible room is not guaranteed! We didnt see accessible room option when we were planning a trip. We called resort and were assured that accessible room is available. We paid for the room and called resort again. Apparently, all those calls are just a "request" and room is not guaranteed. When we arrived, supervisor Amanda was borderline rude- no apologies, just kept saying "tbose requests are not guaranteed and we are fully booked, notjing i can do". Then she would turn her head down to computer like she is done with us. We were given a room with ... multiple stairs access! It was too late to leave. We carried our adult family member down the stairs. Hope we could carry him out without any injuries. Shame on Skyland resort for total less of consideration to a person of a diffetent ability!

Skyland was a great place to stay in the park. Food was good. service was good. only issues we had were on checkin. took a bit to get our room. All in all it worked out well.

Our trip was very nice BUT the service was not the best. Everyone was nice and professional but just not enough people working. To get a beeper for breakfast when there were so many empty tables seems odd. Found out only three people working. Same thing happened at the tap room not enough workers. Check in same experience wait and wait.

The location was great for access to many hiking trails. The area of the lodge was clean and quiet with excellent views from the room balcony, and Skyland restaurant. The staff was very friendly and professional. Definitely a plus to stay inside the park!

The views, the location!

Excellent location for the trails and great drive to the property. Staff were friendly enough only complaint is no communication given that breakfast was moved an hour forward so we missed that but not the end of the world with a Starbucks available. Can’t imagine many better spots for staying out on hiking vacations!

Great location with lots of walkable hiking options. Our room was very clean, everything we ate at the restaurant was delicious. We stared for four days and had a great experience. Would definitely stay again.

It's in the middle of the Skyline Drive, and amongst the Shenandoah mountains. Beautiful view. Close to dozens of hiking trails.

We enjoyed our stay at Skyland. The rooms were nice and the food in the dining room was very good. The lodge was in close proximity to some hiking trails. Big Meadow Lodge dining was also good.

Food at Skyland is not very good and too expensive for what you get. Having said that, we have been here many times over the years and probably will continue to come back.

My wife and i really enjoyed our stay here. This location was perfect and near so many great hiking locstions. Breakfast was the only meal that we had at the hotel, but it was really good.

The food tastes good, but long waiting time, and no service at all. The only time I felt some service was when a waitress brought me one more cup of apple juice, I felt "wow, great", then at the end found I was charged for two cups :-) If it were not the only hotel in the park, it would be worthy 50 dollar per night.

The food in the dining room borders on deplorable. Nothing on the menu comes anywhere close enough in taste and quality to justify the price tag. Very, very disappointing. Get a better vendor.
