This was my second stay over the past few years at this location. Was not impressed this time around. A lot of sketchy people hanging around the parking lot drinking and bbq'ing in the "designated smoking area", loud music blasting from the room next door. Curtains were ripped and room felt run down. Smell of marijuana in the hallways. Plus big signs warning of a $15 fine if you took any of the rather mediocre breakfast offerings back to your room. Hot Tub and Pool did not look well maintained either. Will not be back.

It's an older facility and they seemed to be starting updates. The beds were very comfortable, the pool/ hot tub was great! Breakfast needs more options.

The property was beautiful and well-maintained. The pool was lovely. We only wish we would have had the opportunity to use the pool and swim facilities. Our schedule made it impossible to make use of the recreational facilities. Still, we checked it out and it was really beautiful.

The pool is ice cold, the jacuzzi will burn your eyes from all the chemicals. The roof leaks into the pool and its looks like it needs to be cleaned. The bed in the room was rock hard.

The lobby and beds/rugs were fine. The peeling paint on the room doors and elevator are not good. The cleanliness of the bathtub and toilet were quite bad. I don't know if the shower was scrubbed since the last person stayed there. There was mold near the drain, hair on the wall and soap still stuck in the soap holder.

Old and run down. For the amount of money I spent they really need to make some refurbishing. Bathrooms are old and icky. Carpet really needs to replaced. Beds were ok. Bedding was pretty cheap.

The system was down for check-in for a while. The front desk guy was curt, but that was fine. The room/bathroom was drab and not very clean. Bed was comfortable. I could hear everything going on in the room next to mine. Kids were running up and down the hallway and a strong smell of weed. Side doors worked sometimes and then other times not. For $50 a night it was fine, I just needed a place to sleep. I will stay elsewhere next time I am in town though.

Upon checking in they have us our room key only to enter to some man laying on the bed. Later when we went to another room the smell in the entire hotel was atrocious, entered room, turned light on to see huge hairy cockroach on pillow, urine stains in shower and hair on shower floor. Stains all over carpet in room. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!!!!! Needless to say, we had to sleep in our car as everywhere was sold out nearby.

Property was very old looking and shabby. My shower curtain was stained. The hallway and door to room looked like the paint job was either ancient or incomplete. Hallways were cold and drab. Bathroom had what looked like mold on ceiling. Controls on heater were impossible to read.

I would like to start off by saying the staff was very nice. However, when I went into my room the TV didn't work, half the lights didn't work, it was dark, smelly and very dreary. I had to call the front desk about the lights, appliances and TV, as nothing worked. They kindly came to my room to plug in the TV and appliances as well as fix one light bulb, so that I would have at least some light. I would have expected that to have been done before we got there. We paid significantly more for this hotel than others in the area because of the pool, hot tub and breakfast... but the hot tub was stained and didn't work anyway, the room was old, stained and smelled terrible, and the breakfast was awful. In short, it was a big disappointment and I would not spend that kind of money there, ever again. The place needs help.

On the surface the room appeared clean but there were other issues. The toilet was not working but luckily I was able to fix it. The person cleaning the room must have left in a hurry as a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser was left in the sink and there were leftovers in the fridge. The lamp and coffee machine had to be unplugged in order to plug in the tv, microwave and refrigerator as there were not enough outlets on that wall. TV did not work. Wall sconces by the bed were loose and hanging from the wall. The hot tub thermostat was loose and hanging from the wall exposes the wires. And most frustrating, our key cards did not work in our room door. The key cards worked to get into the building and pool area but not to get into our room. Lastly, the mattress sat atop what looked like the frame from a pull out couch on top of a metal box. Breakfast was overcooked and undercooked, bland and altogether lackluster. Although it provided a place to rest my head, I would not say it was particularly comfortable or a quality place to stay.

Hotel and staff were very nice, the room was spacious. Need to do the finishing touches to the renovations to enhance the property. It is a really nice facility, but the incomplete painting takes away from it. Breakfast was accomodating.

When checking in, the front desk gave us the wrong room type from what we reserved.When we went back to the front desk, the young man tried making excuses and when I showed him my Hotels reservation, he said it didn't matter. When I challenged him my previous experience at this hotel, he then threatened to cancel our reservation. We then said we would keep the room but asked for his name to file a complain. Then he finally changed us to the right room type. He was incredibly rude and should not be in customer service. The room itself was clean enough, but the fridge was making a loud buzzing sound making it hard to sleep. The breakfast was okay. Given the way the front desk treated us, we cancelled our rooms booked for the next football weekend.

This hotel is a few miles off the interstate, but not out of the way. We stayed on a Sunday night & found that we had the hotel to ourselves, for the most part. This allowed access to the pool & hot tub without any other hotel guests. The front desk staff were engaging & accommodating.

Terrible experience. Front desk was rude and instead of helping with the problems they decided it was best for me and my husband to check out early. I was supposed to get a refund but instead they kept the money for the night we didn't stay. The room had a big spill in the carpet where our socks got instantly wet with a brown liquid, they do not answer the phone and leave customers waiting in the lobby for extended periods of time. I tried to add another night which is what led to me checking out early. I do not recommend this location at all they owe me like 80 dollars for the night I did not stay. I don't see me getting that back . Very very rude.

Everyone there is so nice and willing to help make the stay better. For example, a colleague was developing laryngitis and wanted some tea. The evening desk clerk kindly went and got her hot water for tea. There is nothing I didn't like.

First of all it took over 30 minutes to check in and I had to run my card 4 different times, each for its own transaction. Why all of it couldn’t be combined, I don’t know. Both of our keys didn’t work and we had to get those replaced twice. After we settled in called the desk and I asked for a receipt to be emailed and the receptionist said she would bring me a print out to my room. Never seen her nor the email. Asked for extra towels 4 times and never received them. Called the front desk and left messages for towels and for a late check out and nobody ever answered. I called on the room phone and my cell more than 30 times. The windows were nailed shut, which I thought was a fire hazard being that we were on the ground floor. Everyone was extremel rude and housekeeping kept harassing us the early morning of our checkout for our dirty towels and if they could go ahead and clean while we were getting ready and gathering our things. I will never stay here again.

Property layout and decor was just ok. Hallways look pretty dingey but rooms nicer thankfully. Breakfast and AM staff very accommodating. Easy parking and decent location, but still surprised how pricey it was for the quality of hotel (albeit it was Virginia Tech’s parents weekend/football game but still…)

We have stayed here twice, once in Feb. and in April. I booked these stays at the same time since we were visiting our daughter at Tech and wanted to plan our hotels stays. The pictures make this hotel much nicer than in person. It’s an older hotel and while you can tell they are trying to do some minor renovations, the lack of details to cleanliness overrides the small improvements. The shortcut with painting or ensuring light fixtures and remotes work, the overflowing trash cans by the entrances, etc. make it so unappealing. The terrible breakfast (powder eggs, over/under cooked sausage), hard biscuits, cold gravy made the “free breakfast” not worth it. There was no one to be found to tell about the food. Many other guests walked away as well. We went out and paid for breakfast.

Wrecking ball needed: Although I don't expect a 5 star stay at any Quality Inn, this hotel was the worst QI I have experienced. The place is shabby, smelly (mildew, cigarette smoke, marijuana smoke) and old. I can only hope they have plans to renovate given the excellent location near the 2 universities and interstate. There is nothing healthful to eat at the breakfast: NO FRUIT OF ANY KIND. All processed cheap foods. This place is totally depressing and really put a damper on my trip to see my child at VA Tech.
