Overall Riu is a beautiful resort however I would rate this a 3 out of 5. The pool closes extremely early at like 6 PM which is ridiculous. It is light out at that time. Some of the workers are beyond flirty to the point of harassment couldn't believe what some of them said to me and my friend. We had cold water majority of the days we stayed there. It was a clean room but again not much warm water. Restaurant dining is hard because you have to book days prior. Overall I liked the Riu much better in Ochos rios then Negril

Room was nice bathroom was nice shower had great pressure like I love. All the pools were great with plenty of chairs to seat. Beach was cool the hecklers got a little bit annoying. The buffet food was so good & flavorful with plenty of options loved how many vegetable options they had. Had a swim up pool but wasn’t big enoughto actually swim.

The place was beautiful and the staff was awesome. My only concern was the walkability. The property is large and we had a family room, (these rooms are the furthest from the lobby) and the walk was very long as dining is on the other side of the hotel. This made it difficult.

I liked everything about the hotel only exception is having to do the stairs all the time no option of an elevator especially when you have your luggage. I know there are some men available who can assist you could at least have an elevator on each of the buildings. Another thing the availability of towels that we use when we go to the pool and ocean. Otherwise from these two everything was excellent. Food exceptional bed very comfortable.

The pools closed at 6 PM! Reservations for the specialty restaurants need to be made weeks in advance, nearly impossible when you are at the resort. Limited activities on site. Friendly staff, clean rooms. The food could be better.

Reservations to specialty restaurants were always booked. The room was never cool enough and you cannot change thermostat. The air automatically shuts down when you leave your room. The ice is only on the first floor. You cannot splash while in the pool. It’s considered a quiet pool for reading and relaxing.

I checked out yesterday from Room 1247 and arrived home with a ton of bites! You need to disinfect your beds better. Changing sheets is not enough. Now I have to disinfect and treat my entire home for bed bugs!

The property did not inform us that it will be closing on tyhe 18th of August. Our hallways we fillled wiuth mattresses that they were removing from other room ans cleaning carts lined the hallwways. The hallways and some rooms smelled like mold. I got diarrhea after 2 days on the resort. The pools often had dead bees and flys in it. I seen roaches running around in and outside of the buffet hall. These conditions were unacceptable.

Stort, smukt beliggende hotel. Dejlig strand, gode værelser, flere restauranter og barer. Personalet overalt var servicemindede og venlige. Underholdningsteamet var helt fantastisk og var aktive både dag og aften. Mange motionshold og fælles aktiviteter/lege. Show om aftenen super godt. Eneste minus er at håndklæderne på værelset lugter virkelig dårligt og jordslået.

DO NOT BOOK at RIU Negril, Jamaica – A Horrible Guest Experience I checked into RIU Negril on Monday, August 29. On the morning of October 2, I woke up covered in numerous bug bites, many in linear patterns, which is consistent with bed bugs. As the day progressed, the itching became unbearable and I counted over 25 bites on different parts of my body. I reported the issue to the front desk on Thursday evening, and after some back and forth, I was moved to a different room. I was told an inspection would happen Friday morning. It’s now Sunday, I left the establishment yesterday and still have not heard from RIU nor Expedia. There has been zero follow-up from hotel staff. When I voiced my concerns at the front desk again, I was told to send yet another email to RIU’s complaints department – the third one – and was informed that staff could no longer assist me. Despite clearly showing them the bites and asking for help, I was told nothing could be done until after the inspection, which still hasn’t happened. I even had to request bags to seal my belongings in hopes of preventing bringing the infestation home. I’m currently in severe discomfort, and the hotel has been completely unresponsive and dismissive. The customer service at RIU Negril is appalling, and I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone. I stayed at Sandals in June, and the contrast in service and professionalism is night and day. At Sandals, I felt cared for. At RIU Negril, I feel ignored and disrespected

The female staff was extremely rude!! There is no elevator I had to drag my luggage up those flight of stairs.They had people fighting in the restaurant during dinner.There was an old couple in front of me that same night that had roaches crawling on their table in their food.bathe complained to one of the lady servers and she tried to kill a few of them with the rag that they use to wipe the table SMH.The man told her he needed to speak with the manager and a man came over while they complained he looked so nonchalant like what’s the big deal !This place is a joke never again

Loved coming to riu. Clean room. Ac wasnt cold enough, hotel accommodated us and switched our rooms. Entertainment was very good for all ages. Food options by the swim-up pool bar needs some diversity and flavors. They were serving the same foods for the 7 days we were there. I also recommend getting an atm machine. None is on the property. . Other wise l love riu negril it is usally my go to resort with my family

My wife and I enjoyed our stay here. Only issue we had was the a/c in our room was not cool as it never got below 22c/71c. Sent in a request everyday to looked at and it was never fix. That’s my biggest issue apart from that staff was nice and the areas was clean.

I just returned from a stay at Rui Hotel Negril. The resort is clean and was recently updated. The bed was comfortable and the room was sound proof - I only heard neighbors once in the hallway. The entertainment staff are very engaging, and most of the bartenders went out of their way to fun. The food is pretty good for an all inclusive. Drinks are mysteriously weak, but the beach and water were fantastic. There are lots of vendors on the beach, but if you said no thank you to whatever they were selling, they were very respectful and moved on.

The service was very slow everywhere except at the bars. The bartenders were great and the entertainers were the highlight of the resort! They were friendly and awesome and made time to get to know you. The internet is terrible and you lose it if you walk five feet. The most frustrating thing is the keys keep losing their “charge” and you have to walk very far to “recharge” them while the desk staff is not very friendly about it. The food was very average except for the steakhouse, it was good. Signing up for the catamaran took 2 hours and the people signing you up didn’t seem to care. They start closing down the buffet 30 minutes before the closing time so if you don’t get to breakfast early, you get no eggs,no bacon, potato’s, water etc. I would recommend spending the extra money to stay at the newer one just down the road where they probably focus more on customer care and service.

Stayed shortly after the hurricane - arriving on a Friday and leaving on a Wednesday. Overall a good stay. Entertainment and fitness staff are super super fun!! Many activities throughout the day - pool games, aerobics, volleyball, etc. Pools were immaculate. Events in the evenings with childcare available while activities went on. Food at specialty restaurants were not great. The main restaurant “Green Island” which is a buffet was great. Many revolving options, always fresh, etc etc. The other buffet at Seagull wasn’t great. Front desk staff and maintenance were not fantastic. During our stay 5x our keys to our room got deactivated and the walk to and from your room to reception is quite a walk. Further, one night our door lock actually died and therefore we didn’t have access to the room - took 3 hours for maintenance to come, then climb through another room to get access to ours and issue wasn’t resolved for nearly 10 hours. Highly recommend taking a short walk on the beach to Don’s Lobster where the lobster is caught right there and then grilled. Also take a short cab ride to “best in the west” for fish and jerk chicken. Ride from airport to resort is about 90 minutes, but nice ride. Rooms were nice - nothing to complain about in the room itself - put in a request when you check in online for an upgrade and they will do the best to accommodate you at no charge. Room had 4 bottles of liquor and fridge full of water, mixers, soda - refilled every two days

Recentley stayed at Hotel Riu and I have to say, the resort itself was beautiful. The cleanliness was top-notch, the staff were friendly, and the amenities were truly wonderful. From the pools to the bar options, it had all the makings of a great vacation. However, I was really disappointed and frustrated with an issue that put a damper on my stay—especially since one of the affected days was my birthday. The air conditioning in my room broke down for two full days. After being out all day on excursions, I returned to find the floor of my room soaked with water due to the AC leaking. The water stretched from the entryway all the way under the bed, making it impossible to walk around and get ready comfortably.I called reception 2–3 times that evening, requesting someone to come clean up the water. We were told that staff were aware and that someone would be sent to take care of it. Unfortunately, no one ever came. We had to spend the entire night in a hot, wet room with no air conditioning and a puddle of water under the bed. The next morning, the AC was still broken, and the water was still there. It wasn’t until we called again—twice—that someone finally came to address the issue. I understand that we were told the AC problem was happening in “several rooms,” but even if the system couldn’t be fixed right away, the water should have at least been cleaned up in a timely manner. Rating: (2 out of 5) Stay at RIU Negril – Disappointed Overall My experience at RIU Negril was, unfortunately, underwhelming. Communication before arrival was very poor. I made specific requests for a special occasion, and despite multiple attempts to follow up, I never received a response. This lack of engagement set the tone for the stay. Upon arrival, the location of the rooms was far from ideal—quite a distance from the main dining areas, lobby, and entertainment, with no elevators and several stairs to navigate, making it inconvenient, especially for anyone with mobility issues. The food across the resort was mostly mediocre. Many of the items were lukewarm, with limited made-to-order options. The overall quality and flavor were disappointing, with the exception of the steakhouse, which was by far the best meal I had during my stay. The WiFi was weak and unreliable, which made it difficult to stay connected. The property was average in most respects: 1. The check-in was with glitches showing a lack of proper planning. I had to wait three hours to get a room, as they assigned to me the one room that was probably cleaned last. 2. The staff ranged from surly and abrupt to overly friendly, you never knew what you were going to get when approaching someone. I attribute that a a lack of training which leads to a lack of professionalism. 3. The local store was outrageously overpriced. I paid $34 for a bottle of sunscreen that costs $8 on Amazon. It is not as much the money as it is the feeling I was getting that I was being ripped off. 4. On the positive side the food and food service was good, lots of variety, the food looked fresh and was well prepared.

Overall resort experience was extremely poor, the resort itself was okay it’s located on the beautiful Negril beach. As far as my experience goes, my check in time was set for 12pm, I arrived before 3pm and wasn’t given a room until after 4. The staff wasn’t helpful or knowledgeable at all. The iron provided for the room went out and I when contacted the receptionist I was told it was my responsibility to bring the iron to the front desk and put a cash deposit down in order to be able to use another (absurd). I then waited over 3 hours to receive the iron. There wasn’t a time I didn’t feel overcrowded. Dining areas/sitting is limited and the food was pretty basic. Additional eating options were advertised but wasn’t provided (continental breakfast hours). If you choose to shop in the gift stores they are extremely expensive. No exaggeration I paid $19USD for a regular pack of peanut m&ms and a can of Pringle’s , also $6USD for a standard lighter. Cleanliness was not a priority if you didn’t stay in the first two buildings as the shared areas were not up kept. Also, the walls are extremely thin with high traffic and noise. We just wanted to tell you how much we enjoyed our time at Riu Negril. In addition to being very happy place and filled with fun, tbe staff worked extremely hard and was always prepared. They continuously looking out for our safety. We could not possibly have had a better resort. Please pass along our sincere appreciation, and we will try to book our next stay with Riu again. By the way, this was our ninth time visiting Jamaica, first tome staying there. It will definitely not be our last time staying with Riu. We will look forward to next time.

I was looking forward to my stay at Riu since it was all inclusive and they offered complimentary transportation from MBJ Airport. When I arrived they offered guess a drink while they wait to get checked in. After checking in since i didn't upgrade the walk from my room to the main lobby was way too far for me to enjoy anything the resort offered. Once i was in my room (which was at the end of the property there was no leaving. The staff also left my bags for me to fetch since i waited 2 hours for them to bring them and no one did. I had to walk back to the lobby and get them myself. I had plans later that day so i was running behind because they didnt bring my bags. If you need transportation to go anywhere you mind as well boom through a tour company or find your own because the staff isn't much help with that either. The AC was nice and cool in the room but the rooms definitely need an upgrade.

What can I say.... everyone and everything was amazing at the Riu!! Food was amazing. Entertainment all day long. The Riu entertainment crew was absolutely amazing. They interact with you your entire stay whether its sitting talking to you at the neach or lobby does not matter. Bartenders were very nice and made good drinks at any bar you go to. Kitchen crew and wait staff very pleasent and attentive. Rooms are spacious and clean. Beach is perfect. Thank you Riu for your amazing crew from beginning to end. We will be back!!

Recentley stayed at Hotel Riu and I have to say, the resort itself was beautiful. The cleanliness was top-notch, the staff were friendly, and the amenities were truly wonderful. From the pools to the bar options, it had all the makings of a great vacation. However, I was really disappointed and frustrated with an issue that put a damper on my stay—especially since one of the affected days was my birthday. The air conditioning in my room broke down for two full days. After being out all day on excursions, I returned to find the floor of my room soaked with water due to the AC leaking. The water stretched from the entryway all the way under the bed, making it impossible to walk around and get ready comfortably.I called reception 2–3 times that evening, requesting someone to come clean up the water. We were told that staff were aware and that someone would be sent to take care of it. Unfortunately, no one ever came. We had to spend the entire night in a hot, wet room with no air conditioning and a puddle of water under the bed. The next morning, the AC was still broken, and the water was still there. It wasn’t until we called again—twice—that someone finally came to address the issue. I understand that we were told the AC problem was happening in “several rooms,” but even if the system couldn’t be fixed right away, the water should have at least been cleaned up in a timely manner. Upon entrance a server came with drinks for us while we checked in. The reception was very polite and professional I think her name is Shannoy. She explained everything we needed to know thoroughly. And throughout the stay the reception desk was exceptional. Except for that one time I needed to make some tea for my mom because she felt ill, and someone at the front desk stated that a $20 USD deposit is needed to get a kettle. I thought that was crazy, but after explaining the situation they gave me without charge. The distance to our room was lengthy and tiring for my mom over 60 and even for me. There is no elevators but they need to have some other means of way to take persons to and from the main area to the rooms. The biggest issue we had was with the taxi drivers at the front of the property. Extorting and terrorising people, one was very rude to us, after we stated we were waiting on a shuttle and wouldn’t need a taxi. Iv come to realise alot of guests(mostly females) complaining about these taxi men. And it made us all very disturbed and scared. The securities at the game seem to not mind them harassing guests. Immediate action needs to taken for that particular situation!!. Aside from those issues, great staffs, clean, relaxing and convenient location.

I’ve been to Jamaica two other times and stayed in Montego Bay. This was my first time in Negril. The area was beautiful, hotel was clean and staff very friendly. The negatives… although not the hotels fault we were forgotten by the bus transportation when we arrived which added another 2 hours on to the 2 hour drive to get there. Food was good for what you pay for. However I think it’s ridiculous that you can’t book at any restaurant that requires a reservation. So we were left with the buffet every night. Bartenders and servers were always accommodating. Ask for (nickname) Cherry she was the best with her special pink shots. I would stay again but maybe not in Negril as it’s to far away from everything.

The staff were fantastic!! Helpful,courtious knowledgeable. The food and entertainment were wonderful. The only negative aspect was the beach water is very murky. Very grassy uncomfortable to walk and swim in.

The Riu Negril was a fantastic place to stay, staff were pleasant and attentive. It was almost impossible to get a reservation at any of the restaurants but the buffet food was great, lots of options and well stocked. The beach was great, the sand was soft and clean and the water was divine. One word of warning, bugs come out at dusk and if you’re on the beach or around a bunch of greenery you will get bitten.

We had a swim up pool room and it was awesome! View was absolutely gorgeous and the beach was spectacular. With that said, I’d say you can’t leave the resort unless with a driver/tour. However, the beach is definitely walkable, just be kind and say “No Thank you!” when asked to shop…unless you want to shop!

What a great resort to stay at! The grounds were on the small side but it always felt safe and clean! We were there Thanksgiving week and there were plenty of chairs/loungers available! The beach was very calm with no waves. Super safe for small children BUT there are a lot of seagrass with tons of sea urchins so you have to be careful. On the flip size, there were also tons of starfish and hermit crabs to find! Definitely recommend watershoes. There is also a family of four lemon sharks that swim on the beach at night and in the morning. Kind of scary but so fun to see them! The food was mostly the same every day but it was still better than a lot of the all inclusive resorts I’ve been to. The best though was the staff!!! They were sooo friendly and helpful!!! From check-in to check-out, they felt like long lost friends! A

Stayed shortly after the hurricane - arriving on a Friday and leaving on a Wednesday. Overall a good stay. Entertainment and fitness staff are super super fun!! Many activities throughout the day - pool games, aerobics, volleyball, etc. Pools were immaculate. Events in the evenings with childcare available while activities went on. Food at specialty restaurants were not great. The main restaurant “Green Island” which is a buffet was great. Many revolving options, always fresh, etc etc. The other buffet at Seagull wasn’t great. Front desk staff and maintenance were not fantastic. During our stay 5x our keys to our room got deactivated and the walk to and from your room to reception is quite a walk. Further, one night our door lock actually died and therefore we didn’t have access to the room - took 3 hours for maintenance to come, then climb through another room to get access to ours and issue wasn’t resolved for nearly 10 hours. Highly recommend taking a short walk on the beach to Don’s Lobster where the lobster is caught right there and then grilled. Also take a short cab ride to “best in the west” for fish and jerk chicken. Ride from airport to resort is about 90 minutes, but nice ride. Rooms were nice - nothing to complain about in the room itself - put in a request when you check in online for an upgrade and they will do the best to accommodate you at no charge. Room had 4 bottles of liquor and fridge full of water, mixers, soda - refilled every two days

I disliked being harassed by the locals. Could not walk down the beach without being asked to purchase goods or drugs constantly and if you didn’t locals would be rude towards you and make the experience uncomfortable

Spent 7 days here. Check in was quick, room was spacious and clean. Property itself is beautiful. Food was good kind of repetetive but thats typical with all inclusive. The grill near the pool had delicious jerk chicken daily! Did NOT appreciate that we could NEVER get a reservation for the specialty restaurants our whole stay, that's unacceptable!! Pool with swim up bar was small and aside from the bartenders all the staff looked miserable. Nobody greeting you with a hello or good morning or even a smile for that matter.

The grill near the pool had delicious jerk chicken daily! Did NOT appreciate that we could NEVER get a reservation for the specialty restaurants our whole stay, that's unacceptable!! Pool with swim up bar was small and aside from the bartenders all the staff looked miserable. Nobody greeting you with a hello or good morning or even a smile for that matter.

I’ve been to Jamaica two other times and stayed in Montego Bay. This was my first time in Negril. The area was beautiful, hotel was clean and staff very friendly. The negatives… although not the hotels fault we were forgotten by the bus transportation when we arrived which added another 2 hours on to the 2 hour drive to get there. Food was good for what you pay for. However I think it’s ridiculous that you can’t book at any restaurant that requires a reservation. So we were left with the buffet every night. Bartenders and servers were always accommodating. Ask for (nickname) Cherry she was the best with her special pink shots. I would stay again but maybe not in Negril as it’s to far away from everything.

I just returned from a stay at Rui Hotel Negril. The resort is clean and was recently updated. The bed was comfortable and the room was sound proof - I only heard neighbors once in the hallway. The entertainment staff are very engaging, and most of the bartenders went out of their way to fun. The food is pretty good for an all inclusive. Drinks are mysteriously weak, but the beach and water were fantastic. There are lots of vendors on the beach, but if you said no thank you to whatever they were selling, they were very respectful and moved on.

I liked the resort's overall aesthetic. The property looked great. The room was comfortable. It was right on the beach which was great, plus had a number of pools including one with a swim-up bar. Everything was perfect. Only thing that I complain about it the food…. Food was bland, didn’t have the authentic Carribean flavor…./ I spoke to a few people and they complained about the same: it was catered to the European population pallet. I went to Reggae in January and had the same complaint…. The jerk chicken didn’t taste jerk. The buffet could do better over all. The restaurants were good but again not Jamaican. The sports bar I wanted to try but it was freezing so I left. Overall 4 stars. Food would have made or perfect. Staff was exceptional!

This property was a great location with a good beach. Rooms were fine. The dining was consistently terrible for all 5 days we were there. Buffets consistently looked like a food safety risk, so we skipped much of it. The main restaurants menus were extremely poorly executed. Starter courses usually cold, and entrees typically bad cuts of meat and warm at best. One desert was a little Debby brownie from a gas station store with a scoop of ice cream. Bar tenders never made a drink the same way twice. We had a much better experience dining off the property. Honestly I would have preferred if this wasn’t all inclusive because I would gladly stay there if dining off campus was easy. Despite all of this we made the most of it and had a good time. They definitely need to tighten up the dining and bar services.

Reservations to specialty restaurants were always booked. The room was never cool enough and you cannot change thermostat. The air automatically shuts down when you leave your room. The ice is only on the first floor. You cannot splash while in the pool. It’s considered a quiet pool for reading and relaxing.

The hotels are always good nothing fancy but nice clean cold air hot water great mattress. The beach was just okay and I may not have enjoyed it because the men walking up trying to make us buy weed was very annoying . Riu get them off your property please.

We stayed in a beachfront two room suite. We were in building 3. The room itself was great, only one bathroom though. The amenities for our 3 teenage boys aged 14,15, and 19 were perfect. Our boys played volleyball for hours and the entertainment staff were incredible especially Shadow and Twig. We are so grateful for our stay. You will not get incredible service at the bars it is too busy so just don't expect it. However, every server we had at breakfast went above and beyond to make sure we had a wonderful stay. We chose not to dine at the fancy restaurants except Luigi and it was good. We will definitely be back.

The grounds were very clean, beach was beautiful and well kept, the staff was very friendly and the rooms were very nice. The only annoying thing was the guy that kept walking by everyday on the beach to ask if we wanted to buy marijuana in front of all of our children.

The pools were clean, although they all closed early (6pm every night) and the lifeguards were actively on their phones most of the day. FYI The hotel is advertised as only allowing smoking in specific areas but I never saw that rule followed. People smoked everywhere all over the resort despite signage to only smoke in the designated areas, and not a single employee enforced the rule.
