Efficient staff upon check-in. The property is outside/inside, so a nice outdoor walk to our room, clean tidy area. Once inside the room hallway, a horrible smell of maijuana engulfed the entire corridor, heavy odor that made us sick to our stomachs. Once inside the room, pleasant, nicely decorated,cozy with the fireplace. Nice amenities with a microwave, coffee/tea bar with a small refrigerator. Bathroom was clean and had towels decorated as swans. Pool area had towels, a heated pool and jacuzzi. Everyone was respectful and had a great time with other guests. Had heavy footsteps and what seemed as kids above our room. Not a problem during waking hours, but couldn’t get to sleep after 10. Called the front desk, and she took immediate care of the situation. Slept very well, quiet, air unit was fantastic, no noise and probably had the best sleep of our trip at the Mariposa Inn. Breakfast was better than expected with a variety on”quick” choices of foods. Beverage bar included a variety of juices, coffees and water. Aside from the initial hallway odor, we would rate this place a 10!

For the price, you can't beat it. The place is clean and has great parking. Don't expect the Waldorf, but do expect it to be clean and safe for your family. The pool and Spa were cleaner than all the 4 star hotels we've been to. Overall, great experience for my family of 4.

Amazing long weekend staying at Mariposa Inn & Suites. Check in was easy and quick. Rooms are very comfortable and roomy. Safe parking on the premises. Provided self service breakfast with is a big plus. This time we didn’t make use of the pool and hot-tub as we had a busy schedule. The location is excellent: 10 minutes away from downtown Monterey, 15 minutes from Carmel, Del Monte shopping center across the street… And, despite being close to busy streets, no road noise could be heard in our rooms. Dog friendly hotel!

The individual(s) above my unit were a bit noisy. I could hear this individual's footsteps pace back and forth well into the night. The jets on the side of the hot tub did not work. It only bubbled from the bottom. After a round of golf or hiking, I really wanted to relax in the hot tub with the jets pulsating, massaging my back!

The property was average, power was out when we arrived, not the fault of the staff, but the elevator was also out of service the 3 nights we were there. Plumbing backwards in bathroom(sink&shower), took a long time to get hot water flowing after power restored. Being on 3rd floor didn’t make it easy. Was offered cancellation w/o charge when checking in, but power restored by 430pm, just didn’t expect lift to be down whole time.

It looks great from a distance, but when you get up close its really just a fresh coat of paint, and a poor one at that. Many places in the room had cracks in the paint and seams. The hot tub (my main reason for booking here) was barely warm, and only the jets in the floor worked. The bed was hard, and the pillows were flat and hard. Cellphone signal is terrible, and the WiFi unreachable. Breakfast was uninspiring.

Our elevator was out of service for the entire stay. We were on the top floor, so very inconvenient to say the least. During our stay there was no attempt for the elevator for be fixed nor was anything offered for our inconvenience. We have stayed here before and never had any issues, so this was very disappointing.

Overall it was good. The bed was confortable. The pool and hot tub looked clean although we didn't get to use it this time. Too cold for our toddler. The mini fridge was not working but we were able to get ice from the ice machine and kept our stuff cool in our cooler. They offered a day pass to the near golds gym. That was great but with a toddler it makes it a little harder to get away. I use the gym most of the time if its on site. (Great option though for peopleb that wouldnt mind driving to the gym)The breakfast was ok. They had a variety of item but ALL carbohydrates. I would have given them a 5 starts if the breakfast offered a little of protein like eggs and sausages. We will definitely consider coming back here.

This property looked updated from the exterior but the room was completely unacceptable. Cobwebs were on the lamp on the desk, all over the skylight, the air vent next to the bed was also covered in dust, rust and chilled. The back of the door (bottom right) was black like someone had been kicking it with their shoe/luggage or cart, the desk chair was ripped up and the bathroom lighting was poor that my child didn’t want to go in there. We stayed for less than an hour and chose to leave.

will NEVER stay again. The "heated pool" was luke warm at best. The sheets had blood stains on them. When putting the shower matt down in tub a burst of dust flew up. I asked the gal at front counter what they used to wash their bed sheets in because it caused a bad rash like an allergic reaction on grandsons' skin he had to sleep on couch, after taking a Benedril and she could care less. It was so bad I paid for 2 nights, and we left the very next morning, disappointed, and it wasn't cheap!!! stay anywhere else

We reserved two nights for this hotel, we stayed one night and had to cancel the second night due to inadequate soundproofing and mold problem... Unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory. The room had several maintenance issues that significantly impacted my stay: 1. Mold in the bathroom ceiling, which is unhygienic and concerning. 2. Cracks in the sink, indicating a lack of upkeep. 3. Very poor soundproofing, I was constantly disturbed by hallway and upstairs room noise, leading to a sleepless night. While the Saff were polite, the condition of the room did not meet basic standards of comfort and cleanliness. I expected better for the price paid. Until these issues are addressed, I cannot recommend this hotel to other travelers.

Overall our stay was okay, but the pictures don't represent what the property actually looks like. Our room had a shared balcony with the room next to us and the blinds did not shut all the way which was uncomfortable. There was an odor coming from the bathroom sink that was unpleasant and offputting. The breakfast was not a breakfast, just stale bagels and lukewarm coffee.

We LOVE this place. It’s a short drive to downtown Monterey, fishermans wharf, and Cannery Row/Monterey Bay Aquarium. There is also a nice shopping center across the street with a Petco, Whole Foods, and other shopping restaurants. There is easy access to the 1 which will take u to Carmel,17 Mile Drive, Big Sur, and several state parks. As for the hotel, the rooms are modern and clean, but the beds are a bit firm. We’ve stayed here twice in a family townhouse suite, which is kind of amazing. There is a queen murphy bed downstairs and a full bathroom with king bed and 2nd bathroom upstairs. Also, their per policy is GREAT, only $40 per per per stay. we had 3 small dogs with us and it was no problem. HIGHLY recommend, will definitely stay here again.

Beds are fairly stiff but room was decently clean. Hard to keep completely tidy with visiting the beach and vinyl floors, ended up with some sand I couldn’t avoid dragging into beds. Rented two rooms for a large family and secondary room we had constant issues with having to replace the key cards. Almost every time we went back to the room they had to be reassigned or we couldn’t get back in which was very annoying. Not a bad place to stay and rooms were very reasonably priced but I wouldn’t say I recommend it.

Room 102 is a corner room on the first floor right next to the entrance, is small, noise from the Main Street and people entering and leaving the Inn can be heard at all times. This room should not be rented. Staff were not friendly when we checked in or I had to get the room key replaced as it was not working 5 hours after check in.

Travelers need to be aware that they won’t clean your room unless asked a day prior. They won’t tell you this at check-in. If you complain why the room was NOT cleaned, they will tell you that is written on a sign at the office, and the room. It is written in tiny letters, barely readable. The room is not well lit. My room was a “dog friendly room”, however, if your dogs are small and sleep on the bed with you, note that the bed is too high and floor is tiled, potentially dangerous for dogs if they jump off the bed. Also, the the pillow cases smelled horribly, even the ‘new’ ones. I did not enjoy my stay. Do not expect a full breakfast here, no eggs, no bacon.

Not awesome, bad staff, unaccommodating, broken elevator for most of trip and located on 3rd floor, no offers to my wife to assist with her disability with inconvenience of broken elevator, dangerous screw sticking out of Murphy bed headboard when the dangerous screw was removed, the headboard fell off the Murphy bed. Beautiful pool. Dirty floors in room, horrible water pressure in the shower.

Amazing property, I had concerns of my room and they re-assigned me a new room. Very accommodating as well! Breakfast could have been better, just bagels, cereal, oatmeal, and muffins- Occasionally yogurt. I would come here again for sure just based on the location and convenience of the location. I recently had the pleasure of staying one night at Hotel Mariposa in Monterey while exploring the stunning sights along Highway 1. First and foremost, the location of the hotel is convenient for anyone looking to discover the beautiful coastal views and attractions in the area. The hotel itself is more than nice for the price, clean, and appears to have been recently remodeled. The furniture and styling are both tasteful. One of the highlights the. breakfast included with my booking. As a vegetarian, I appreciated the variety of pastries, bagels with cream cheese, various cereals, and grits. It was a perfect way to start my day of exploration! I also want to emphasize that Hotel Mariposa is pet-friendly The staff at Hotel Mariposa were exceptionally kind and polite. Their hospitality truly stood out, especially when I encountered a bit of a crisis. After checking out, I realized I had misplaced my wallet in the room. I didn't notice it until I was already on the road, and I initially thought I may have lost it at one of the scenic viewpoints along the highway. To my surprise, the next morning, I received a call from the hotel notifying me that they had found my wallet and were mailing it back to me. I can't express enough how grateful I am for the honesty and integrity of the staff. Overall, my experience at Hotel Mariposa was great.I highly recommend this charming hotel to anyone visiting Monterey.

I asked for room service the morning of, arrived back at the room noticed it wasn’t cleaned. Spoke to management which he was rude, very short fuse making up excuses. I stayed on the second floor; had to call the office due to loud banging noise at late night hours, the same manager made up excuses for whomever was above instead of providing customer care. This hotel doesn’t provide breakfast just morning snacks (bagels, muffins, instant oatmeal, etc). Limited parking stall. I liked the fire place in the room, nice amount of channels on the television, refrigerator didn’t seem to get cold (turned it all the way up), microwave took sometime for food to get warm. Shower head needs to be updated, higher pressure. Also, it took the sink water over thirty minutes to get hot (kid you not!), I was going to call the office as soon as my daughter and I check-in the room… I informed her to let the hot water run awhile, that did the trick. Affordable room (two days, $348.00 + $48 pet fee). Mostly, due to RUDE management I will not recommend nor stay at this hotel again.

Check in on Friday around 4 pm was deplorable. The woman never looked up, when responding to a question, never smiled, shoved paper in our direction., looked annoyed. The rest of our stay was fabulous, the night attendant was kind, polite, helpful. The room was spacious, the pool and hot tub clean and welcoming.

The hotel was right across the street from a nice shopping center that had restaurants, Whole Foods Market and a T-Mobile store where I could buy a new battery charger. The room was clean. The staff was very friendly. The only thing I’m gonna make sure of next time is that I don’t get a handicap accessible room. Trying to take a shower was a real challenge. I’m glad they have these types of rooms for those who need it, but every time I took a shower water went all over the whole bathroom and I spent half an hour trying to mop up the floor after my shower. Other than that, it was a very nice room.

This little hotel was so charming and a great place to stay in Monterey. The bed was incredibly comfortable and the fireplace helped create a cozy environment in our room. The hot tub was clean and very hot, and the breakfast was not bad! It could have included some protein and fruit, but it had yogurt, granola bars, coffee, juice, toast and oatmeal. It was located close to Cannery Row and the price was awesome. We’d definitely recommend it and come back!

Cute place to stay and right across the street from a nice shopping center. The room with the fireplace is nice and spacious. Overall clean. The shower tub could use an update. The water pressure was low. The pillows were also a little lumpy. The pool is pretty nice. It’s heated but still felt pretty cold. The free breakfast is okay. The usual muffins, bagels, and cereal. Overall still enjoyed our stay and would come back.
