Great property. Room was a little small but clean, up to date and the pool was great! We were there on Fathers Day, they had a DJ going at the pool, made for a fun afternoon. Nachos were good from the restaurant. We were traveling with small children and they had a blast with the pool and the games they had poolside. Jenga, cornhole, and ping pong. All in all enjoyed this property.

Service in the restaurant was amazing along with the food. But the room had no cord to the phone, only two towels. Shower was either too hot or cold knob needed to be adjusted. Bar service out by the pool was miserable. Waited 20 minutes to order sodas, guy disappeared so after another 20 mins we then went to the bar and picked up our sodas and were told we would not be double charged and we were on final bill. We were also billed $25.00 for parking when we parked on the street. Front staff wasn’t very nice when we were frustrated with the errors and reported the problems with the room. Not the best experience especially for the price.

We loved our stay - the hotel pool and hot tubs were our favorite. The weekend pool party with a DJ was a fun scene. The lobby decor and games had a unique vibe. The restaurant food was good and we enjoyed eating at the pool. Our room was cute and clean, but a little tight for a family of four. Overall we enjoyed our stay and found great, affordable food options very close to the hotel.

This property looks a lot nicer in pictures. They advertise valet in front of the lobby without having a designated area for check ins. The pool was ice cold on a 80 degree day and was murky with various insects and hair floating around. The cute lounge areas are very nice but they are highly stained. I was able to find some towels to throw on top of them. When pulling back the sheets we found an eyelash and something else that was either a thread or insect leg. I’m really hoping it was a thread but it was questionable. Overall after booking this place for the adorable pool area but being disappointed, I would not recommend this hotel to a friend.

The decor was nice, and the rooms felt new and modern. I liked the wood floors and comfy beds. But the room was falling apart in some places, and there was black mold in the shower ceiling. The room was also very, very small.

Same as always - wonderful facility, but the place is FILTHY! We sat out by the pool during the day and then the jacuzzi at night and literally nothing was picked up the entire day.

I liked the hotel its self. However, there were blood stains in the bed sheets and our room smelled like mold and mildew. Like it hadnt been stayed in, in quite a long time. Make sure you remember parking is $28 a night as well. No free breakfast which would be fine if it werent for the bad condition of the rooms. The beds are very hard and lumpy. You have to call and request early check in the same day as your reservation and even then they will not give you straight direct confirmation of am exact time your room will be ready. 4pm check in time is too late. However, the staff and heated pool and hot tub were wonderful.

Outdoor pool showers and a bathroom near the pool would be very helpful. Loved the decor and rooms were very nice. The wifi was very bad and I often heard people complaining about it.

Great pool area and wonderful staff. The renovation is really nice. The rooms are a little strange, the bed is literally a foot away from a huge window that faces the walkway, so it was very noisy. But, that can’t really be helped, just something people with noise sensitivity might want to consider. Overall great experience.

Overall a nice experience. The pool and spa area was nice. The room was very very small. The room was clean and the bed comfortable. The lady at the service desk was not very helpful as we were checking in. We had a hard time finding the room. She didn't give as any direction at all. We had a homeless man looking in our car during our stay. Sketchy area with a lot of homeless people around.

This hotel was once a motor lodge so all the rooms are on exterior corridors. The staff was super friendly and helpful and the common areas were nicely decorated. The bathroom was a little dated and none of the light switches were backlit. This small feature is really helpful when navigating a midnight bathroom trip.

I was looking forward to an enjoyable time with my grand daughter at the pool relaxing on Sunday but had to be stressed with a crowded, loud party scene. I wish I had known about it because I would not have stayed on a Sunday night. Also the internet would not work. I did like the beds and the shower.

I paid extra for a pool view which was completely obstructed by a tree. At this price point parking should really be free. The bathroom door was a barn style sliding door offering no privacy. Other than that the pool was nice and heated. And the room was clean.

This is a relatively nice motel, not a 4 star hotel. The doors are exterior. You will hear every footstep that passes your room, as well as everything that happens in the rooms adjacent to yours. Zero soundproofing, and no carpet anywhere. The shower had such low water pressure it took me 20 minutes to shower. The stone shower floor hurt my feet, and made it impossible to see if the shower was actually clean or not. Very clever of them, actually. Upon check out, when I expressed my dissatisfaction, the woman at the front desk offered to refund my parking, which I thought was kind, but then I saw that I was double charged for parking, so she refunded a charge I should have never been charged in the first place. I paid for parking up front on Hotels.com, and then was charged again at the hotel, even though when I checked in, I confirmed that I had in fact prepaid for parking. Overall, this was a dishonest, disappointing experience.

Million dollar lobby, bargain discount rooms. Two double beds smashed into a tiny cramped room that smelt like an old foot. The bathroom door was a slider that didnt close all the way. They spent their entire budget on the lobby.

My family (two rooms) were there for a wedding: I never got the wedding discounted rate (after multiple calls to events managers, NOT ONE CALL BACK!); our rooms were not available so we had to wait 3 hours out at the crowded pool; one glass of cheap wine in plastic ... we had a horrible stay. The only person who was helpful was Jay at the front desk (after the previous nasty desk person basically told us he could not do anything - basically "screw you" and take what I give you at 4 p.m.

The Paradox is a great place, but i left an item in the room and called everday for a week to inquire if it was found. It seemed impossible for anyone from Housekeeping or the front desk to actually get back to me. Left such a bad taste in my mouth.

My initial check in was fine. I went back at 8:30 to find I left my key in my room. I went to the front desk. After ten mins with no one there, I found an employee in the bar. He said someone was probably taking towels to a guest and there was only one employee. I continued to wait. Eventually another employee came by and said he couldn’t find anyone to help. I needed to wait longer. After almost 20 mins, the Front Desk Supervisor arrived. He was VERY rude. He made snide comments and was mean. If he worked for me, I would fire him. Essentially he said he was in the bathroom and if I didn’t like it, tough. Consequently I am very angry and will try to avoid staying at this property in the future.

They met or exceeded every hope we had. They went above and beyond from allowing an early check in to great service at the pool (and amazing amenities in the room). We would love to return here sometime soon. PS- the bed was one of the MOST comfortable we've ever slept on!

My family of 4 stayed at Hotel Paradox last year and got our family together for some family time, this year. We rented 3 rooms, during this trip. The staff here are friendly and professional. Some things worth considering... Our rooms were not ready at check-in, and an ADA approved room, which was requested and confirmed days before, was not available upon arrival. This made check in difficult for our matriarch. We also had 3 rooms in 3 different floors, which was ridiculous but at least we got our steps in each time we were visiting each other. Still, we enjoyed our stay and love that pets are welcome. There were always poop bags available, too. TMI, but it's appreciated. We also love the amenities. The pool heater was not working during some of our stay, but it was fixed in the nick of time. We also appreciate the safe space the lobby provided for everyone during the New Years countdown. We had 3 generations of very happy and safe people at Hotel Paradox. Thank you for your work and care.

AC was broken so it was either frosty or hot because it was off. The room was next to stairs so we could hear everyone moving on them. That said the staff was above and beyond great and the restaurant was delicious and quick.

I must say that my experience was amazing because of the high level of attention from every single staff member . The focus on customer service from the moment we arrived through the entire stay was top notch . Every single employee was pleasant and accommodating. And the food was off the hook ! I will stay there again . No doubt ! Best experience I have had since pre pandemic ! Thank you all !

I arrived at check in time 4pm and our room wasn’t ready until 5:17 to be exact, we we given a $50 voucher for food and drinks which was nice but we were exhausted and just wanted to get to our room which we paid around $600 a night for. Outside of the pool area the grounds needed more attention as there was garbage left by disrespectful guests in the elevators which we threw away and on benches/tables etc that was literally there for our 2 day stay, it was if there was no attention to the facility outside the lobby, pool and restaurant area. As for hospitality, the phone in our room didn’t work so I went down to the lobby at 8:30 to request some fresh towels, we waited an hour and a half until I had to get up again and pretty much go get them myself by hunting down a housekeeper, the last thing is we purposely chose a room facing the pool (which was extra) room 518 only to have a giant redwood tree (beautiful) obstructing our view, I feel like we got charged for something we didn’t receive. The food was good and the pool area was very nice but overall for the little over $1300 we paid for 2 nights we feel like we didn’t get the service or quality that should have came with that price, the service and the grounds need more attention and there be no reason a persons room should not be ready upon check in when check out is 4 hours prior to the next guests checking in. Property is nice and has a fun restaurant/ bar and pool area. Unfortunately Santa Cruz has turned into a dirty unkept city, but it can still be a beautiful place to visit. We really enjoyed the pool scene and the hotel has a fun vibe. Room was clean and beds were comfortable. Close walk to downtown SC. Just be weary of the homeless and zombie locals walking around, they seem harmless, but keep your eyes open.

We really enjoyed hanging out at the pool, dining in the restaurant and being able to walk into town. It was also close to the Beach Boardwalk, several beaches, the warf and the Mystery Spot. There was also a park next to the hotel.

The Paradox is in a good location to access the main Santa Cruz locations you might be coming for- downtown and wharf/boardwalk- and easy to drive to any other locations. It is not close to the UC but easy to get to. If you like walking, getting to the beach was an easy 7 or so blocks. The property was immaculate and modern. Parking lot is safe and easy, though paying to park is not a plus for me. The pool is lovely, warm, and and well protected. Our room was very clean and the mattress was really comfortable (I like firmer pillows personally so might bring one of my own next time) Had a small issue getting the temp right but figured it out. Everyone was helpful and friendly and I would definitely stay there again- have stayed overnight at various hotels in the area and I like this one the best for one that is not on the beach.

We went here for my birthday and it was in a great location, walking distance to downtown restaurants and shops plus had a beautiful pool and spacious hot tub. The staff was all very friendly and the bar/restaurant was quality. Would stay here again

Very cool hotel - ambiance was really neat - very well done. Also, and I didn’t mean to do this, but I walked into the dining area hungry at 8:46 when the kitchen was closing at 9:00 and they still managed to quickly accommodate me, which I really appreciated.

The pictures of the rooms were somewhat deceptive, but the pool and amenities were fun. Beds were comfortable and the bathroom and shower were great. Downside was the restaurant, the food was only ok -- the staff just ignored us when we tried to order. Great location in downtown Santa Cruz.

We booked this late at the last minute and it fit our needs. The bed was very comfortable and the room was clean. The bar and lobby were spacious, although service was a little lean as the bartender had to take food orders, make and serve drinks, serve food and run the register. Menu was sufficient. Food was OK.
