Stayed 4 nights

The good bit - staff are really helpful and work hard in difficult conditions. The bad - on arrival we found we had to pay to park our car £5/night despite staying at the hotel, and pay £6 each every time we wanted to use the pool. Our rooms were not serviced daily unless we ASKED the night before to have the room serviced! COVID rules apparently. The menu, while cheap, was very limited to just four main choices. Breakfast consisted of a buffet of full english with fried eggs only. It was not possible to order poached or scrambled eggs, or anything else. Continental option was one processed cheese and one processed ham. Pastries were available and well made. Food was dropped on the floor one day in the conservatory and was still there the next day. The bedroom, despite being an executive suite, looked like it had been furnished from a Holiday Inn closing down sale, with the fridge freestanding on a coffee table!! The large window in the en-suite was severely cracked and looked like it could go if you leaned against it.

The corridors were dirty. The room was not clean. The room looked out onto the bins.the staff access was outside the window and were noisy I booked a standard double and was put in an accessible room. There was nowhere to sit in the room. The bathroom was an accessible room so there was nowhere to put toiletries the toilet seat was too high. The shower could not go high enough. I asked to move rooms and was told there were none.. Altogether a miserable experience

Only stayed for one night but really enjoyed ourselves. Lovely old building with loads of charm and character, nice clean rooms and plenty of comfortable seating round the bar area.
